This document discusses gender equality in sports. It notes that sports have traditionally been male-dominated due to social conceptions of masculinity and femininity linking sports with male characteristics. These gender stereotypes influence women's participation in sports both as athletes and in leadership roles of sports organizations. Traditional gender roles can also reduce the time women have available for sports due to expectations around care tasks. The document then discusses how a school in a seaside town promoted gender equality in sailing by hosting sailing instructors who taught girls and children the basics of the sport, finding an equal level of difficulties, curiosity and involvement from all participants. It suggests schools can overcome gender stereotypes by offering shared experiences for boys and girls.

Maidan Summit 2011 - Mona Shipley, British CouncilMaidan.in
In her discourse at Maidan Summit 2011, Ms Mona Shipley presented her experience with developing the Physical Education Cards (PEC). She held that one should harness engagement, effectiveness and simplicity of sport-based programmes and use them at the grassroots level to begin transformation.
She said that sport is an integral part of culture in almost every country, and pointed at how women get segregated because it is traditionally associated with masculinity. Ms Shipley felt the need to challenge the discrimination based on gender in sports. She highlighted the need to have an advocacy platform, where people come to become aware of their rights and eventually drive change from within.

2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.
This is a presentation by Dada Robert in a Your Skill Boost masterclass organised by the Excellence Foundation for South Sudan (EFSS) on Saturday, the 25th and Sunday, the 26th of May 2024.
He discussed the concept of quality improvement, emphasizing its applicability to various aspects of life, including personal, project, and program improvements. He defined quality as doing the right thing at the right time in the right way to achieve the best possible results and discussed the concept of the "gap" between what we know and what we do, and how this gap represents the areas we need to improve. He explained the scientific approach to quality improvement, which involves systematic performance analysis, testing and learning, and implementing change ideas. He also highlighted the importance of client focus and a team approach to quality improvement.
The French Revolution, which began in 1789, was a period of radical social and political upheaval in France. It marked the decline of absolute monarchies, the rise of secular and democratic republics, and the eventual rise of Napoleon Bonaparte. This revolutionary period is crucial in understanding the transition from feudalism to modernity in Europe.

We all have good and bad thoughts from time to time and situation to situation. We are bombarded daily with spiraling thoughts(both negative and positive) creating all-consuming feel , making us difficult to manage with associated suffering. Good thoughts are like our Mob Signal (Positive thought) amidst noise(negative thought) in the atmosphere. Negative thoughts like noise outweigh positive thoughts. These thoughts often create unwanted confusion, trouble, stress and frustration in our mind as well as chaos in our physical world. Negative thoughts are also known as “distorted thinking”.

2. • Sport is traditionally a sector dominated by men, and progress in
gender equality in this field is hampered by the social conceptions
of femininity and masculinity, which often associate the sport with
"male" characteristics such as physical strength and endurance ,
Speed and a very combative spirit, if not aggressive. Women
engaging in sport can be seen as "mascoline", while men who are
not interested in sports can be considered "less virile."
• Prevailing gender stereotypes influence women's participation not
only in decision-making in sports organizations, but also in sporting
practice.
• Traditional gender roles can dictate the number of hours women
spend on care tasks, which can have a chain effect, reducing the
time available for sports.
3. What the school can do in
order to promote the
equality gender in the
sport field?
Our school hosted this
year the sailing school
instructors of our city.
Sailing is one of those
sports that, despite
being natural for a
seaside town like ours,
has nevertheless been
a great success among
the girls ...
4. Experts have told girls and
children the early rudiments
of a sport that combines a
series of educational
values such as autonomy and
collaboration, environmental
respect.
8. It was a great experience:

9. What the school can do to overcome
gender stereotypes?
• The school can offer the opportunity to
live experiences in which boys and girls
live together, beyond stereotypes.
