ANNUAL REPORT
[ K I N E S I O L O G Y C L U B ]
Over the past 15 years since the Kinesiology Club was officially chartered and recognized as
a student organization at Penn State, I have witnessed a tremendous growth in active
membership to nearly 400 Kinesiology undergraduate students in the 2012-2013 year!
Originally, the goal of the club was to get students involved in their major and begin to take on
more leadership roles with a couple of social activities. As the club began to mature, new
initiatives began to surface under the student leadership teams.
This year, under the leadership of Chris Gettle (President), the executive committee, and
various committee chairs, the club set new records in many ways. Just a sampling of activities
that took place this year include:
ü Club meetings with speakers
ü The annual Kinesiology career fair and round table discussions with the Kinesiology APG
(alumni group)
ü The ever present THON committee, set new fund raising records for the club at $36,248.57.
ü Exercise is Medicine™ was started as campus wide initiative from November 5th-8th, with
over 2500 participants. The club was able to secure a $15,000.00 grant for a nationally
renown speaker, Chris Powell, Host of ABC’s Extreme Makeover: Weight loss Edition with
over 1100 attendees.
The aforementioned events are just the tip of the iceberg of all the activities that the club
planned this past year. I have often said that higher education goes beyond the classroom in so
many ways and activities of the club certainly add a dynamic aspect to college life. As the
adviser, I am proud of all our undergraduate students who have taken that step beyond the
classroom to truly maximize their college experience. Please take a moment to read through
the annual report to get a better idea of how involved the students were and all that they
accomplished this past year.

ANNUAL REPORT Page 1 ANNUAL REPORT [ K I N E S I O L O G Y C L U B ] Over the past 15 years since the Kinesiology Club was officially chartered and recognized as a student organization at Penn State, I have witnessed a tremendous growth in active membership to nearly 400 Kinesiology undergraduate students in the 2012-2013 year! Originally, the goal of the club was to get students involved in their major and begin to take on more leadership roles with a couple of social activities.
