Principal’s MessagePrincipal’s Message
Lakeview High School is considered by
many to be one of the most prominent
schools in Southwest Michigan. To say
that we are dominant both academically
and athletically is an understatement. It is
that time of year to review and celebrate
the accomplishments of our students. I
am sure I am missing or I am just unaware
of additional achievements and for that I
apologize, but to summarize:
• 314 of 322 (97.5%) LHS graduates
received some form of recognition
for their academic achievements or
outstanding performance in their
particular program (33.7 and 41.5%
the previous two years – figures for
the previous two years will be given
for each indicator listed). 2012 was the
first year for Legacy Scholars.
• 285 of 322 (88.5%) LHS graduates
will be attending some form of post-
secondary education (91.8 and 93.7%).
116 (36.9%) will be attending four-
year institutions (42.2% and 43.1%),
169 (52%) will be attending two-year
institutions (45.4% and 45.8%), and 12
(3.7%) will be attending technical/trade
schools (4.2% and 4.7%).
• 607 students (58.9%) of the current
10-12th grade classes were recognized
at the Annual Academic Recognition
Awards Program in October. Students
are recognized for earning honor roll
status during either or both semesters
of the previous school year (61.9% and
64.9%)
• 746 (55.3%) of LHS students earned
honor roll status first semester (50.9%
and 51.8 %) and 728 (54.2%) did the
same second semester (53.6% and
55.2%).
• At the Michigan Industrial and
Technology Education Society (MITES)
regional competition, LHS Students
earned 79 first through fourth place
awards (78 and 40). At the state
competition, LHS students earned 21
awards (36 and 0) including 6 first place
awards (3 and 0).
• LHS fields 20 varsity athletic teams.
These twenty teams won 16 conference
championships (14 and 12), 12 city
championships (12 and 9), 1 district
championships (1 and 3), and 1 regional
championships (2 and 2).
• Individually, Spartan athletes earned
27 conference championships (27 and
28), 62 city championships (52 and 59),
2 district championships (0 and 0), 9
regional championships (14 and 10), 1
state runner-up finishes (0 and 0) and 1
state championship (3 and 4).
• 99 student-athletes earned All-
Conference/All-East Division honors
(111 and 115), 102 earned All-City
honors (92 and 97), 11 earned All-
Region honors (10), 12 earned All-
District honors (11) and 16 earned All-
State recognition (11 and 15).
Have a great summer, take care of each
other, and GO SPARTANS!
