Program
Why we have a fleet program
To prolong the life of the vehicles
To ensure safety to all personnel on the fire

To keep maintenance costs low.
To keep pride in our vehicles and our
department.

Raising the Cab
Secure all items in the
cab.
This is extremely
important. Failure to
secure items will result in
a broken windshield.

Raising the Cab
Set the outriggers, drop
the ladder rack, and raise
the aerial ladder.
Watch for overhead

Perform full ladder system check every Saturday.
Clean Inside compartments, inside of cab, wipe down all equipment every
Saturday.
Keep trucks inside of the station as much as possible during the day. (Prevents
paint fade)
Try to be careful when entering and exiting the truck and when using tools,
equipment, and hoses around the paint.
Trucks are degreased and waxed twice each year. Each shift is responsible for
certain apparatus.
Pumps are tested yearly and after major repairs.
Ladders are tested and recertified every year.
Quarterly Preventive Maintenance is performed on all trucks.

Small equipment oil is changed twice a year or as needed.
Aerial ladder oil and filter is changed annually.
See fluid specification charts before adding fluid to trucks. DO NOT
GUESS!!!!!!
Warning: When adding coolant to the diesels use Fleet Charge coolant. It is
purple and doesn’t match the coolant color in the truck. This is ok. Fleet Charge
has a special additive that fights corrosion on the piston sleeve liners.
We stock all necessary cleaners and waxes. If you are out of something let me
know. We will get it.
