This document discusses vocational education from an industry perspective in India. It notes that by 2015, Indian industry will need 83 million skilled workers, while there is also huge unemployment among India's youth. There is a need to bridge the gap between this demand and supply by expanding vocational education opportunities. Stakeholders that need to be engaged include industry, policymakers, vocational training providers, certification bodies, and students. Working together, these stakeholders can help establish a framework for vocational education that develops job-relevant skills, leads to industry-recognized certifications, and helps address India's skills shortage.
