This document describes a student project to design and build a vane air motor. A vane air motor uses compressed air to power rotation of a slotted rotor containing sliding vanes. As the high-pressure air enters, the differential force across each vane causes the rotor to turn. The students customized a vane motor using plywood, wood, and a hand pump air supply. They provide details on the components and operation of a typical vane motor as well as references used in their project design.
