● Was not a fan of her friends response
● Irritated
● Victim blaming
● Rage
● Disappointment and anger with the people around her
● Watching this the second time, I was most moved in a deep rage
about the victim blaming
● Anger and upsetting
● Heavy
● Lonely
● Reaching out for help and not being supported
● It made me glad that there are Forensic Nurse Examiners on call
now to come in and assist with vaginal exams and collection of
samples/evidence in lots of areas.
● Pissed that this is probably a more common reaction from both the
doctor AND the cop
● Not shocking, it happens very often. its devastating

How might stigma impact survivors of
sexual violence?

● Makes "good" TIC/P (trauma informed) friends worth finding and
keeping.
● Stigma might increase hesitation and reluctance to come forward
● Feeling dismissed. Not speaking up if it happens again
● Self-blame
● It changes their view of themselves, gaslighting self, feeling poorly
about self for years to come
● Self blame, guilt, not going to reach out again
● Misplaced shame emerges
● Substance abuse, self-medicating

● If it's IPV, I think there's also a lot of denial or self
blame
● The thought of not being belived, even years
and years later

not feeling understood
