MH ACROSS CULTURES
Across different cultures and languages, people talk
about and explore mental health in multiple ways.
In just a few words, please share:
How have you experienced the concept of "mental
health" within your own cultural communities?
● Scares people, still a lot of stigma
● Not a lot of nuance - just one word
● Use just the word crazy, or a problem with their mind all
experiences blanketed into one word
● Hush hush
● Not labeled as MI - just “he’s strict or has a temper”, part of
identity and personality, not something to be worked on
● Resources not adapted to culture communities
● Not talked about
● Not conditioned to feel, just to be in provider role
