 Values are guiding principles of life which are conducive to all
round development of a person.
 Values reflect one’s personal attitude, judgement, decisions,
choices, behavior, relationships, dreams and vision.
 Values play important role in progress of society.

1. Intellectual values :-
 Make student’s brain active.
 Problem solving helps to develop mental faculties.
2. Utilitarian / Practical value :-
 We use science in our daily life.
 Prepare products of practical use.
3. Disciplinary value :-
 Experiment work develops quality like cleanliness, concentration,
punctuality, hard work, sincerity.

4. Moral value:
 Scientific experiments/researches develops moral values like reality, truthfulness,
honesty, self control, patience, considering other’s view, etc.
5. Social values :-
 Science can be learned in social setting only and not in isolation. Society can progress
only if there is give and take of scientific knowledge.
6. Cultural value:-
 History of science presents cultures of different nation.
 Science helps person to become cultured, critical, logical and change mindset of
person.
7. Aesthetic value:-
 Scientific discovery or invention gives sense of joy which is aesthetic or beautiful part
of research.

8. Vocational value:
 Aim of science education to make one self dependent.
For eg. vocations like medical, engineering, agriculture, pharmacy, etc.
9. Psychological value :-
 Science answers curiosity of human being therefore science is
psychologically fulfilling.
10. Scientific Attitude:-
 Science trains child to solve problem by using scientific method.
