Experience
1997–2008 Hawkins Construction Inc. Tarpon Springs, FL (General Contractor)
Controller
Managed start-up of construction projects with owner and lender including evidence of financing
letter for contracts, contractor’s lender agreements and securing construction bonds. Overseeing
proper court filing and recording of bonds with notice of commencements. Complete project
monitoring through completion for transfer bond liens, contest and satisfaction of liens and final
releases of liens to clear property’s title to expedite project’s funds.
Secured projects builders risk insurance and all necessary certificates of insurance for Owners &
Lenders until projects completion. Requested additional insured endorsements from Owner
provided builders risk insurance contracts. Filed and negotiated with insurance companies any
projects claims and settlements.
Based on project’s completion, billing approximately $15 million monthly accounts receivable
and providing complete AIA application/draw paperwork to Owner’s and Lenders including
affidavits, releases, store material receipts, etc. to for prompt monthly funding of projects.
Assisted in work in progress reports and final project contracts close-out of by auditing
reimbursable costs, change orders, special invoices, subcontractors contracts, mods, final
retainage payments before processing final AIA applications (draws) to the Owner/Lender.
Participated in renewal negotiations of corporate p&c insurance and group benefits insurance
policies. Filed, coordinated, negotiated insurance claims for adjustor’s settlement.
Provided/issued insurance certificates to Owners for current projects, warranty periods, lenders,
leased & rental companies, counties, cities and states.
High security clearance for corporation on line banking, transferring weekly 100 plus employees
payroll files, funds transferring between accounts, wires, ach transactions and confirming positive
pay for checks written with bank security. A designated corporate check signer.
Assisting outside CPA firm with an independent annual corporate audit and evaluations.
Accounts Receivable Collections
Monitored and approved check expenditures and reviewed department journal entries.
Involved in development of an Access database, maintaining historical statically information
including designing and running of reports. Running various construction software financial
reports.
Supervised 14 employees for coordination of duties, vacation, sick, lunch schedules etc.
