4. • The term Vaitarana has been made from the
word “Vitaranam”, which literary means to
donate, go across, to leave which help to
expel out the Dosha.
• Thus, we can say that Vaitarana Basti help to
expel out the morbid Dosha from the body
and thereby giving relief in the disease.

Saindhava Lavana 1 Karsha (12 gm)
Jaggary (Guda) 1 Shukti (24 gm
Chincha (Tamarindus) 1 Pala (48gm)
Gomutra 1 Kudava (200 ml)
Tila Taila Q.S.

7. Method of
Preparation
Vaitarana Basti is
prepared as per the
classical method
used for the
preparation of
Niruha Basti.
Step 1 : Initially 24
gm (1 Shukti) of
Jaggary (Guda) will
be mixed
uniformly with equal
quantity of lukewarm
water.
Step 2 : 12 gm (1
Karsha) of Saindhava
will be added to the
above.
Step 3 : Tila Taila will
be added till the
mixture become
homogenous.
Step 4 : 48 gm (1
Pala) of Chincha
Kalka will be taken
and added to
above mixture
carefully.
Step 5 : Lastly 200 ml
(1 Kudava) of
Gomutra will be
added slowly
and mixing is
continued so as to
have uniform Basti
Dravya.
Step 6 : Finally after
filtering, Basti Dravya
is made lukewarm by
keeping it into hot
water.

It is a Niruha Basti that can be given after the
meals
(BhukteCha Api Pradiyate).
