Cross Device Experience with HTML PrototypingPeter Rozek
Users use different devices at different times of the day. Typical sequential screening activities are, for example, when the user starts on one device and continues his activity on another. The content takes a central position. A sustainable cross-device experience in the context of responsive web design addresses coherence, fluidity and adaptability. The content should adapt to the respective terminal and address the usage context. How can concept, design and development effectively test users' behavioral patterns and meet the device agnostic approach? The talk shows the benefits of HTML prototypes and how they can be effectively combined with other prototyping techniques.
Designers vs Developers- Coming together to build the best RIAsTheresa Neil
Presented on Nov 3, 2009 at Øredev in Malmo, Sweden.
What is the fastest way to get from a product idea to a rich internet application? By breaking down the communication barriers between designers and developers.
This talk takes a quick look at how to build a shared vocabulary and use prototyping to bypass extensive wireframes and development specs.
Take a look at 5 simple and effective prototyping tools:
Balsamiq Mock-ups + Nakpee
Any wireframes + Protoscript
Prototcasting (using click-throughs and screencasts to convey requirements)
Atlas and other development environments + visual layout editors
This presentation goes hand in hand with our book (Bill Scott & Theresa Neil) called Designing Web Interfaces: Principles and Patterns for Rich Interaction.

Is User Centered Design a buzzword, a technique, or a methodology? Why does "UCD" get so much attention? How has it changed how teams approach web application usability efforts? Is UCD right for you?
1. User Centered Design: Evolving from Dot-Com to Web 2.0
2. Why UCD? (Development, Business, Design benefits)
3. Development process: UCD vs. Agile vs. Waterfall
4. Case Studies: User Centered Design success stories
5. Is UCD right for you?: Planning a UCD process for your product
6. Q & A
While Information Architecture took its name from architecture, it took very little else. This is not surprising, as the early days of the web were about making sites that supported the interaction between people and data. The obvious model back then was a library; a library is a space for humans to receive knowledge. But with the rise of social networks, and the integration of community into almost all online experiences, more architecture practices are directly transferable to design. Online spaces are no longer just about findability, but about falling in love, getting your work done, goofing around, reconnecting with old friends, staving off loneliness... humans doing human things.
As an early Information Architect who had been working in the search field, I found very little but entertainment from phenomenology's Gaston Bachelard or innovator Frank Gehry. But once I began working on social spaces, it all changed. We all know Christopher Alexander from his pattern-language approach to codifying design solutions, but if you go beyond the mere structure you find that in those patterns lies the answers to tricky privacy issues and the cold-start problem. Architects of buildings can help us form a new approach to the architecture of human spaces online. Poetics will go down easy with plenty of real world examples from current websites, shanty villages, air apps and cityscapes.

To create the best mobile applications possible we have to look at the design from a user perspective before we start programming a single line of code. And the design process doesn’t stop after the first deployment. When an application has been submitted to a marketplace or appstore we can start monitoring the usage and study the end-user reviews.
The following topics are covered in this slidedeck:
1. Creating awareness on the importance of app strategy and design.
2. What should be happening before we start developing mobile apps?
3. What should be done once the mobile app has been deployed?
4. Wrap up and next steps.

A tale of scale & speed: How the US Navy is enabling software delivery from l...sonjaschweigert1
Rapid and secure feature delivery is a goal across every application team and every branch of the DoD. The Navy’s DevSecOps platform, Party Barge, has achieved:
- Reduction in onboarding time from 5 weeks to 1 day
- Improved developer experience and productivity through actionable findings and reduction of false positives
- Maintenance of superior security standards and inherent policy enforcement with Authorization to Operate (ATO)
Development teams can ship efficiently and ensure applications are cyber ready for Navy Authorizing Officials (AOs). In this webinar, Sigma Defense and Anchore will give attendees a look behind the scenes and demo secure pipeline automation and security artifacts that speed up application ATO and time to production.
We will cover:
- How to remove silos in DevSecOps
- How to build efficient development pipeline roles and component templates
- How to deliver security artifacts that matter for ATO’s (SBOMs, vulnerability reports, and policy evidence)
- How to streamline operations with automated policy checks on container images
Securing your Kubernetes cluster_ a step-by-step guide to success !KatiaHIMEUR1
Today, after several years of existence, an extremely active community and an ultra-dynamic ecosystem, Kubernetes has established itself as the de facto standard in container orchestration. Thanks to a wide range of managed services, it has never been so easy to set up a ready-to-use Kubernetes cluster.
However, this ease of use means that the subject of security in Kubernetes is often left for later, or even neglected. This exposes companies to significant risks.
In this talk, I'll show you step-by-step how to secure your Kubernetes cluster for greater peace of mind and reliability.
