“Klaus found he had little interest
in books. The gears in Violet’s

And even Sunny, who of course
was too young to really
understand what was going on, bit
things with less enthusiasm.”

“The youth gets together
his materials to build a
bridge to the moon, or,
perchance, a palace or
temple on the earth, and,
at length, the middle-aged
man concludes to build a

Learning is more social for young people.

It’s scientifically proven. Listen to Sarah-Jane Blakemore, a cognitive
neuroscientist at University College in London, at TED Edinburgh, 2012.

of other people’s behavior as its consequences….”

In my youth, I traveled much, and I observed
in different countries, that the more public
provisions were made for the poor, the less
they provided for themselves, and of course
became poorer. And, on the contrary, the less
was done for them, the more they did for
themselves, and became richer.

Let us not forget that teachers teach kids.
And kids need to EXPERIENCE learning first-hand to
continue to develop their schema and decision-making skills.
But it is never a replacement for the rich breadth of
knowledge and experience you can provide in your
classroom.
If it’s too easy, they will never feed themselves.

Thanks for coming!
