In order to help students withstand the rising cost of textbooks, and in turn support the mission of student success, the University of South Florida has implemented two electronic resource based initiatives as part of the Tampa Library’s Textbook Affordability Project.
Through the E-books for the Classroom program, the Library purchases electronic versions of texts required for coursework, providing equitable access to needed materials at no cost to the students. For the past five years, this program has evolved into a highly successful Textbook Affordability measure, acquiring hundreds of e-books and serving thousands of students, as well as becoming an integral part of the e-book acquisition process.
The Library, with the support of the Office of the Provost and in collaboration with other departments across the University, is publishing a faculty-authored multimedia Open Access Textbook to be used by hundreds of students each semester in USF’s children’s literature courses. The USF institutional repository, Scholar Commons, will host the textbook, making it freely available on a global scale. This program effectively uses library expertise and skills, coordinating university-wide faculty, professional, and technical resources, to create library-as-publisher for the benefit of the students and textbook affordability.
This presentation will include a review of the need for these types of Library based initiatives, the processes involved in establishing and maintaining them, and a discussion of their challenges and successes along with plans for future improvements.

LibQUAL is a standardised survey instrument developed by the Association of Research Libraries (ARL) that measures user perceptions of library services. Libraries implement LibQUAL periodically to better understand user priorities and to monitor library performance relative to student and faculty expectations.
UBC Library ran LibQUAL in 2007, 2010, 2013, and 2016. While survey questions are broad and results do not prescribe specific actions, the survey helps libraries understand their longitudinal performance in four areas:
Library collections
Access to collections
Library spaces
Customer service
As in past years, UBC Library ran LibQUAL separately at the Okanagan and Vancouver locations. At both locations the survey opened Monday, January 18 and ran for 3 weeks, closing Friday February 5. This report is limited to results of the Vancouver survey.

The WVU Libraries Web Team -comprised of representatives from each individual library and library department at WVU -is faced with designing a library search box in an ever-changing ecosphere of catalogs, search resources, priorities, and online trends.
To conduct research, the Web Team decided to take on the daunting task of designing, constructing, and administering a comprehensive higher-education libraries search box usability test in three tiers.

Today availability of e-resources in a university library is very common. They serve more than repositories for repositories for materials and knowledge and they are of an access point to acquiring knowledge and skills. But their proper and maximum use is a matter for discussion. Periyar EVR Central Library in VIT University subscribes to a number of electronic journals to satisfy the information needs of its users. The present study examines the existence of various e-resources and services are available at Periyar EVR Central Library in VIT University. The study also highlights different types of electronic resources used by students and faculty, the purposes and frequency of using electronic resources and the problems faced by the users while accessing and using the electronic resources in the library.

The study analyzed the awareness and usage of e-resources among 110 research scholars
of Alagappa University. A well-structured questionnaire was used for data collection and MS
Excel software was used for analyzing the data. The study revealed that majority of the
respondents are female 84(76.4%) and 75(62.8) % of respondents are M.Phil. research scholars
and less respondents from Ph.D. scholars. Most of respondents 30(27.2%) used the library
fortnightly, 22(20%) of respondents use library daily. Further the study found that 83(75.5%) of
using Google Search engine; 17(15.5%) of the respondents use the yahoo. The study identify the
35(31.8%) of the respondents use the e-journals and 22(20 %) of the respondents use the e-thesis
for their research & projects and 20(18.1%) of the respondents use online e-books to get
information. The study found that 30(27.2%) of respondents using online electronic information
resource to Update knowledge and 25(22.7%) of respondents use it study purpose; 44(40%) of
respondents used to store and share information in online resource using Google drive, followed
by 28(25.4%) respondents using store and share Hard disk & Hard drive and 21(19%) of
respondents using Memory card.

Customer satisfaction at the Faculty of Philosophy Library in Osijek, CroatiaKornelija Petr
Purpose – The purpose of this paper is to present the findings of the customer satisfaction survey of
the Faculty of Philosophy in Osijek Library. The purpose of the survey was to determine the level of
satisfaction among two customer groups: students and faculty.
Design/methodology/approach – The methodology utilised was a five-page satisfaction
questionnaire.
Findings – This paper presents the findings of the first customer satisfaction survey of the Faculty of
Philosophy in Osijek Library. The satisfaction data are collected as a part of a wider library evaluation
program and present the first step in future continuous measurement of customers’ expectations and
their satisfaction.
Research limitations/implications – The structure and the size of the sample do not secure the
representativeness. Among the student population, the paper was distributed only to those who
visited the library, which, in a way, reduces the validity of the sample (those who are dissatisfied with
library services may avoid the library). Among the faculty, the survey was distributed via e-mail, but
some faculty members do not check their e-mail accounts regularly (or not at all).
Originality/value – This is the first measurement of customer satisfaction for the Faculty of
Philosophy in Osijek Library. Furthermore, there are only a few similar papers that report on research
in Croatian libraries in international literature.

The provision of reference and information services are one of the major activities for academic libraries. Answering questions and providing relevant and timely answers for library users are just one of such services. Questions come in many format: in person, phone, email and even on social media platforms. The type of questions may also differ from simple, directional to complicated ones. One of the challenges for libraries is the capturing and managing of these inquiries. Libraries need to address some of these points: • How the questions will be captured • How the questions will be answered • Who will answer these questions • What is the turn-around time for answering these questions • What kind of statistics to monitor • How are these statistics communicated to internal library staff and other stakeholders This paper describe the initiatives undertaken by KAUST, a brand new Graduate Research Library located in Saudi Arabia. This initiatives include the implementation of LibAnswers to assist the library in capturing and managing all inquiries. We are tracking inquiries coming in via email or widgets (such as online form), converting received questions into FAQ entries, creating and maintaining a public knowledge base for our users. In addition, it will also describe future plans in store to expand reference services for our library users.

The US House of Representatives is deeply concerned by ongoing and pervasive acts of antisemitic
harassment and intimidation at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Failing to act decisively to ensure a safe learning environment for all students would be a grave dereliction of your responsibilities as President of MIT and Chair of the MIT Corporation.
This Congress will not stand idly by and allow an environment hostile to Jewish students to persist. The House believes that your institution is in violation of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, and the inability or
unwillingness to rectify this violation through action requires accountability.
Postsecondary education is a unique opportunity for students to learn and have their ideas and beliefs challenged. However, universities receiving hundreds of millions of federal funds annually have denied
students that opportunity and have been hijacked to become venues for the promotion of terrorism, antisemitic harassment and intimidation, unlawful encampments, and in some cases, assaults and riots.
The House of Representatives will not countenance the use of federal funds to indoctrinate students into hateful, antisemitic, anti-American supporters of terrorism. Investigations into campus antisemitism by the Committee on Education and the Workforce and the Committee on Ways and Means have been expanded into a Congress-wide probe across all relevant jurisdictions to address this national crisis. The undersigned Committees will conduct oversight into the use of federal funds at MIT and its learning environment under authorities granted to each Committee.
• The Committee on Education and the Workforce has been investigating your institution since December 7, 2023. The Committee has broad jurisdiction over postsecondary education, including its compliance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, campus safety concerns over disruptions to the learning environment, and the awarding of federal student aid under the Higher Education Act.
• The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is investigating the sources of funding and other support flowing to groups espousing pro-Hamas propaganda and engaged in antisemitic harassment and intimidation of students.
