This case study describes the interconnection between an Indian Basin Gas Plant and the local utility. The plant generates electricity using gas turbines and diesel generators. Interconnecting with the utility provides reliability benefits by allowing power exchange. Protection schemes using a microprocessor relay were implemented to coordinate the plant and utility systems. Monitoring tools help analyze power quality and protection performance.
