Windows Wooden Frames
Replacing the home windows is a big decision that you make in your life. When your windows
become old, you need to consider replacing them to get several benefits. Today we will be discussing
about how to choose the best replacement windows that suits you. Which type of material you need?
Which type of frame is best? And so on. First of all it is important to find that why do you want new
windows? Are the new windows going to enhance the appearance of your house? Do you want new
windows to improve energy efficiency of your home? Or maybe you are looking for the windows that
serve both purposes? Once all these questions are clear, it will be really easy for you to buy the best
replacement window for your house. Choosing the right frames Windows ... Show more content on

Additionally, they cost high when you buy them. I suggest you to search on the web to get the
maximum discount on replacement windows if you want wooden frame. On the other hand, aluminum
frames are more durable than wood but the problem with these frames is that they offer less insulation
as compared to other materials. So if you choose aluminum frames, you might need to add thermal
breaks to increase insulation. It s better if you consult with your contractor first. Vinyl frames offers
great insulation among all when you compare replacement windows and it is the best solution but they
incur more cost upfront. But you need to keep in the mind that they recover the cost in short life span.
Low cost replacement windows are also available in the market these days. Selection of Panes You
may go with one, two or three panes in your windows. The number of panes impacts on insulation. If
you want great insulation, you should go for double or triple pane windows. But they incur more cost
as compared to single pane windows. So it is recommended that first you set your budget and then
select replacement windows with appropriate number of panes. And in the end, I would like to suggest
you all that whatever replacement windows you install do not forget to keep them clean and
maintained to get the maximum out of

Compass Jellyfish Research Paper
The Compass Jellyfish is also called Chrysaora hysoscella which actually isn t a fish, it is a type of
plankton. It is just under 100% water, this jellyfish does not have a heart, brain, bones, or blood. Its
kingdom is animalia, phylum is cnidaria, class is scyphozoa, order is semaeostomeae, family is
pelagiidae, and its genius is chrysaora. The compass jellyfish lives in cold or temperate waters. This
Jellyfish lives in the coastal waters of the Mediterranean ocean, the northeast Atlantic ocean, and
coastal regions of South Africa. Also can be found near the United Kingdom and Turkey waters, but
mostly found in the Irish, Celtic, and North seas. They range between being 2m to 30m underwater
but it would be uncommon for them to go deeper than that. Adults can be seen just under the surface
of the water but when the current picks up, they dive deeper and can be find near the seabed. On the
UK coast you can mostly see them between the months of July through October.
This jellyfish has a yellowish/white, circular/saucer shaped bell. On the top part of the bell, there is a
dark circle with surrounding brown, u shaped marks. Although most of the time they do, they don t

In order for compass jelly fish to catch their prey they must catch it with their tentacles. They sting the
prey and then use their tentacles/arms to pull it into its mouth. Its tentacles can be extended and also
pulled back in. The compass jellyfish can give a painful sting and if you were to be stung, you should
wash the wound in salt water and try to find vinegar. If you do not have vinegar, peeing on it will help
the least. Vinegar takes the toxins of the sting out which will help release the pain the wound is
causing. The jellyfish also disposes of its wastes throughout the same place the food goes in. When the
jellyfish eats it must wait till it disposes of its wastes before it can catch its prey and eat

Low Vision Advantages And Disadvantages
DISCUSSION
The World Health Organization (WHO, 2011) estimates thattherearemore than 285 million people
worldwide who are visually impaired, of whomnearly 39 million people are blind and 246 million
suffer from low vision1. A person with low vision has a best corrected visual acuity in the better
eyeoflessthan6/18tolightperceptionoracentralvisualfieldofless 10than degrees, but who uses or has the
potential to use vision for the planning and execution of a task
Visual impairment is a worldwide concern and it is very likely that it will gain moreimportance as the
present standard of medical therapy is on the rise and the average life expectancy of an individual is
lengthened. There are a significant number of people with irreversible loss of vision, in spite of the
best possible therapy, who also possess some degree of useful residual vision, termed as low vision.
This impaired vision not only affects their daily living activities but also increases their dependence on
other people. The current investigation sought to focus on the impact of low vision services and to
address the barriers involved in visual rehabilitation of adults (16 to 60 years).
Different individuals undergo different experiences with reference to low vision, and may show
variable responses to low vision rehabilitation. Ultimately, an individual suffering from low vision has
to accept his/her disorder and should strive to obtain the best final outcome. This necessitates the
initiation of new programs, or

How Is Lady Macbeth s Vaulting Ambition
Ambition is typically seen as a pathway to success, yet in the play Macbeth by William Shakespeare,
it is clearly evident that this is not always the case. As the play progresses, Macbeth s overall
aspirations in order to become king are continually tested. By looking at his overall motives, the
adverse choices which reshape his destiny, and the fatal conclusions based on his insufficient
decisions, we can clearly see how vaulting ambitions can be destructive rather than beneficial. To
begin, Macbeth has many motives which persuade him towards becoming king. Rather than looking at
the negative effects of these motives, Lady Macbeth, prior ambitions and the prophecies all change
Macbeth s pathway in life. To start, Lady Macbeth is the initial ... Show more content on

Macbeth comes around with a tentative If we should fail? (1.7.59), to which his wife retorts: We
fail!/But screw your courage to the sticking place/ And we ll not fail (1.7.60 61). Again she plays the
masculine card, Be constant like a man, foreclosing and rational deliberation of consequences of
committing a regicide. (Langis, ***) In her article Shakespeare And Prudential Psychology: Ambition
And Akrasia In Macbeth , Unhae Langis clearly shows how Macbeth refuses to be portrayed as weak
by his wife. Lady Macbeth uses the ploy of Be a man , and Macbeth s lack of courage to twist his
ambitions and change his morals about murder. Although Macbeth s ambition remains the same, his
pathway to success takes a fatal turn. By harmfully effecting others around him, we can see how
ambitions with the wrong motives, can be destructive. Continuing, as the play progresses we begin to
see many prior ambitions Macbeth appears to have had before learning of his potential destiny. Once
he learns of his awaited future, courtesy of the witches, Macbeth reveals aside from Banquo, that his

A Summary Of Order On City Public Spaces
Because of the post fiscal crisis decades of the late 20th century in city of New York, The mayoralties
of Ed Koch, David Dinkins, Rudy Giuliani all saw a multipronged campaign to impose order on cities
public spaces, usually by ridding them of the homeless, squeegeemen , protesters, and sundry other
urban undesirables who made the life unpleasant for white middle class and upper classes, the
attraction of whom was increasingly seen as the key for the urban economic revival It was into that
economical and historical context, Joshua David and Robert Hammond made their initial push to save
and redevelop the High Line a discarded viaduct and founded the public private conservancy

designer s intention to built the High Line just for the elite, but it seems like the people living in the
neighbor was neglected before the construction. Behind the fading grey surfaces in the images, it was
an increasing inequality of economic resources in the neighborhood. In the images, all of the existing
neighborhood was intentionally erased by the rendering and presenting as barren buildings which can
be prompted by increasing circulation. This strategy of moving undesirable in the urban space and, in
so doing, help reclaim space for development was underway in Chelsea which was known as West

Symbolic Illustration of the Power of Relationships in Susan Glaspell s Trifles
A friend can be a remarkable thing. Unfortunately, many lack the powerful bonds that all humans need
to survive and lead healthy, happy lives. In Susan Glaspell s play Trifles, Mrs. Wright is starved of the
human interaction and relationships she so desperately needs. Consequently, she is never rescued from
her loneliness, is brought to the point where she cannot handle any more of life s saddening struggles,
and kills her husband in his sleep. Through powerful and often ironic symbolism, such as Mrs. Wright
s kitchen, the names of the characters, and the bird, Susan Glaspell clearly displays the power of
human relationships and how truly devastating a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Another symbol of Mrs. Wright s lack of human interaction is her preserves in the kitchen. Mrs. Peters
explains how Mrs. Wright worried [that] if the fire d go out [. . .] her jars would break (Glaspell 1174)
and feels sympathy towards her. The men, on the other hand, do not understand how Mrs. Wright can
worry over such small trifles (Glaspell 1174) as she sits in jail for possibly murdering her husband. As
strange as it is, it is because the preserves, along with any other work she does in her house, is all that
she has. It is all that Mrs. Wright can proudly claim as hers. Hence, the broken jars of preserves the
women find in her kitchen represent Mrs. Wright s shattered dreams and expectations of a fulfilling
life with her husband. Like the jars, Mrs. Wright bursts from the unbearable pressures of her life, and
so, Glaspell clearly displays the power and importance of human relationships. Therefore, through
Mrs. Wright s kitchen, Glaspell symbolically implies how vital it is to reach out and befriend the
lonely and disheartened.
Another symbol Glaspell uses to reiterate the importance of human contact and support is the names
of the characters in the work. First, the fact that Glaspell never uses the characters first names (except
for Mrs. Wright s in one scene) signifies that the problem regarding the lack of human relationships is
not only in the rural areas of America, but across the world in every

Essay on The Book of the City of Ladies
An unlikely candidate to dispute the unfair, misogynistic treatment of women by men and society,
Christine de Pizan successfully challenged the accepted negative views that were being expressed
about women by the all male literary world of her era. Part of Christine s uniqueness stems from the
time in which she lived, the middle to late 1300 s. The lack of a positive female role model to pattern
herself after made Christine a true visionary in the fight for the equal rights of women. Her original
ideas and insight provided a new and more intelligent way to view females. Pizan s work, The Book
of the City of Ladies, provided women much needed guidance in how to survive without the support
of a man.
It is Christine s literary work The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Her comments not only let the reader know that she is displeased with this piece of literature, but that
she feels that reading it is neither elevating nor useful. Thus, she insinuates the futility of the work
itself. Christine cleverly goes on to comment on the subject of the character of women by flattering
her male contemporaries. She writes, quot;...it would be impossible that so many famous men such
solemn scholars, possessed of such deep and great understanding, so clear sighted in all things, as it
seemed could have spoken falsely on so many occasions... quot; (4). Christine intelligently uses this
quot;sugar coated quot; method to emphasize the point the point that these men were wrong. Although
Christine was obviously outspoken, she knew her limitations. Her work would not be recognized, or
even read, if she had openly attacked the male writers. Therefore, she instead chose to build them up
the quot;solemn scholars quot; before opposing their positions. Christine s ironic humility does not
stop with the prominent male writers of her time. She addresses God with the same rhetorical question
as she asks, quot;Oh, God, how can this be? For unless I stray from my faith, I must never doubt that
Your infinite wisdom and most perfect goodness ever created anything which was not good quot;
(Pizan 5). Again, Christine carefully opposed the male point of view this time using Biblical
references.

Reinstatement Of Torture Analysis
Torture is the action or practice of inflicting severe pain on someone as a punishment or to force them
to do or say something, or for the pleasure of the person inflicting the pain. The Central Intelligence
Agency of the US is known for its torture methods, or enhanced interrogation techniques. These
various torture methods have led to a lot of backlash from the public and added resistance from the
opposing organizations. Legally, Torture, done by Americans, has been banned under various acts.

Wrigley Field Essay
Blocks away from Lake Michigan on the corner of Clark and Addison,
Wrigley Field is the center of a bustling community of diehard Cub fans. Wrigley

February 23, 1988, the Cubs made the decision to install lights in Wrigley Field.
The first official night game was scheduled for August 8, 1988, but the game was
cancelled after four innings due to rain. The first official game was played the next
day.
There have also been recent renovations to the ballpark. After the 2003
season, 200 seats were added behind homeplate. After the 2005 season, 1,800 seats
were added to the bleachers making the capacity a little over 41,000. During the
2007 off season, the whole field was replaced because Wrigley Field was known
around the Major Leagues to have one of the worst playing surfaces in all of
professional baseball.
In 2009, the Tribune Company sold the Chicago Cubs to the Ricketts family
for $900,000,000. The Rickett s first order of business was to win the
World Series which has not been accomplished in 103 years for the Cubs. Wrigley
Field is more of an adult oriented ballpark now, but in the future the Rickett
family plans on building an attraction suitable for children as well. There have
been discussions on building a Chicago Cub s Hall of Fame so that on off days
and during the off season fans can come to the ballpark and still experience
Wrigley s atmosphere.
When the Ricketts family bought the organization there were rumors
that they were going to sell the naming rights of Wrigley Field

Liberty State Park Research Paper
Today, Liberty State Park serves an important role in the New York Harbor area. As the railroads and
industry started to drop the land was abandoned and became an empty dump site. Land with decaying
buildings, tracks and piles of debris was transformed into a modern urban state park. The park was
formally opened on Flag Day, June 14, 1976, as New Jersey s bicentennial gift to the nation. Most of
the 1,122 acre park is open space with about 300 acres made for public recreation. On July 30, 1916,
an explosion, with the force of a 5.5 magnitude earthquake that reportedly was felt as far away as
Maryland, moved Jersey City, New Jersey. Glass windows in buildings in Manhattan and Brooklyn
were blown out, the Brooklyn Bridge shook and the nearby Statue of Liberty was hit with shrapnel. At
first, investigators believed the catastrophe was an accident, but later investigations would show the
disaster an act of sabotage by the Germans, who wanted to stop deliveries of ammunition to Allied

Oppression In The Bluest Eye
In every pocket of society, there is some sort of food chain. There are the people at the top, those
between, and those at the bottom. This systematic power structure is destroying communities from
within. The book, The Bluest Eye, by Toni Morrison, is a story about young black girl Pecola
Breedlove who dreams for her eyes to turn blue. Chunks of the book are written through the eyes of
Claudia MacTeer, another young black girl in the Loraine, Ohio. We follow Pecola and her mental
demise caused by internal and external oppression from many forces. Oftentimes, people need to feel

The only people below them are black women. In The Bluest Eye, we see one black man in particular
using his position of power over multiple black women. Cholly Breedlove, husband of Pauline and
father to Pecola, experienced an incredibly hard life. He grew up with his great Aunt Jimmy until he
was a young teen, and ran away after she died. He then continued on a destructive path of freedom and
carelessness for the rest of the book. Cholly s first sexual experience was cut short when two white
men come upon him and his lover, Darlene. As Cholly and Darlene are having intercourse, these men
find them and demand that they continue. They proceed to make lewd comments and watch them as
Cholly finishes. Cholly, moved faster, looked at Darlene. He hated her. He almost wished he could do
it hard, long, and painfully, he hated her so much. (148). Cholly realizes that he is powerless under
these men, and turns his hatred for them into hatred for the only person he s able to have power over,
Darlene. This feeling of powerlessness continues to follow him throughout his life, and he continues
to crave more power and control. He uses this power over his wife and beats her, and he uses this
power over his daughter, raping her multiple times. This feeling of powerlessness and the need to take
power wherever he can comes from internalized oppression. Cholly is unable to satiate his hunger for
power, and so abuses many black women

The Theory Of The Prophet Muhammad
Introduction
In exploring the questions of how certain ethicist would respond if they had the choice of stealing food
to give to a starving child, it s important to draw from a thorough and broad spectrum of philosophers
in order to explore the experiment fully. In trying to obtain the broadest set of hypothetical opinions
we ll look at the reasoning of al Ghazâlî from the medieval period, Immanuel Kant from the modern
period, and finally Confucius an ancient ethical philosopher. By spanning the different centuries,
cultures, and ethics of these great minds, we find three totally different approaches to answering that
question. al Ghazâlî The first ethicist chosen for this analysis is al Ghazâlî, who as considered a divine
command ethics. al Ghazâlî s reasoning derived from not focusing on consequences on earth but what
consequences one s actions would lead to in the afterlife. He believed that everyone should emulate
the teaches of the Prophet Muhammad as a model of behavior. Another interesting aspect of al Ghazâlî
s ethics where that a person shouldn t try to avoid the less than desirable facets of human nature but to
work on controlling them (Griffel, 2016).
Faced with the prospect of stealing food to give to a starving child, al Ghazâlî would most likely agree
that this was okay. Not only is it a well known fact that part of the Muslim faith requires those able to
feed the hungry, but it is the fact that he held such close regard for the Prophet Muhammad s

Childhood Cognition, By Walter Benjamin
In a series of reflections scattered throughout The Arcades Project and elsewhere, Walter Benjamin
offers a view of childhood cognition as defined by an immediacy between perception and action; the
inherently tactile relation between thought and world elicited by the child invokes a direct relationship
of thought and action and so a capacity to transform the world.1 Rather than accept the given meaning
of things, children are said to acquire knowledge by grabbing objects, analysing them in new ways,
putting them to uses beyond those to which they were intended (think of the ubiquitous admission of
the child s preference for the wrapping to the toy).2 Play thus has a redemptive quality. As an
experimental and tactile engagement with the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

In his book Noise, Jacques Attali articulates a similarly lapsarian trajectory to physiological and
cognitive development but this time situated upon the terrain of sound itself. For Attali, music stands
in for the very possibility of social order; its effects begin from the moment of birth, as when the

of generative enchantment and imagination prior to its capture by the chloroform of the social in
moments when the child s voice takes form in music?

Characteristics Of Expressionism In Sophie Treadwell s...
Sophie Treadwell s Machinal exemplifies many characteristics of expressionism. Expressionism views
technology and industrialism as the tools in materialistic society. The play uses industrialism in
Episode One with the sounds of typewriters, filing cabinets, adding machines and the switchboard,
which can be scene on page 580 line one. These mechanical sounds begin at the start of the scene and
are present until the end of Episode One. Machinal also exemplifies the thematic organization of an
expressionistic drama. Each episode is structured as an individual theme, rather than a cause and effect
relationship. Page 580 starts the story with Episode One To Business, page 587 Episode Two At
Home, page 593 Episode Three Honeymoon, page 597 Episode Four Maternal, Episode Five

these thematic scenes. The central character in Machinal is on a search throughout the play, which is a
characteristic of expressionism. Young Woman is the central character and is the only one to appear in
every scene, helping to unify the message as expressionist dramas do. One difference here is that the
young woman is not a christ like figure. However, she is sacrificed at the end of the story as we see on

The Issues of Ethics
Issues of Ethics
The two major ethical theories that have the most relevance and prudence to my contemporary views
are utilitarianism and those aligned with the concept of a categorical imperative. The philosophy of the
former of these was widely pioneered by both Jeremy Bentham and John Stuart Mill. The notion of a
categorical imperative was largely popularized by Immanuel Kant. In all actuality, the efficaciousness
of these philosophies is widely determined by the particular moral dilemma which one is facing. Still,
the true value in both of these theories lies in the fact that they can be applied to a wide variety of
situations and help to dictate moral guidance. In many respects, utilitarianism, which is a branch of
philosophy known as consequentialism, presents a diametrically opposed philosophical stance of that
propounded by Kant and his categorical imperative (Boylan, 2009, p. 176). There is an extreme sense
of mutability that accompanies the former of these approaches to ethics, which is attributed to the fact
that the behavior that is determined most ethical depends on the circumstances that result from that
behavior. Specifically, the action that produces the most good, to the most amount of people, is

Initial Public Offering by a Company
Initial Public Offerings: An initial public offering is the decision by a company to sell its stock to the
public for the first time. In some cases, this process is described as a transaction with which an
investment banking company generates investment capital though making the company to go public.
One of the most critical aspects within an initial public offering is significant public interest because
investment bankers generate huge fees depending on the amount of capital raised. Consequently, the
interest of investment bankers is usually attracted by large or well recognized companies. Initial public
offerings are sometimes characterized with huge gains on the first day but they tend to flop when the
financial market is cold. Overview of Initial Public Offerings: The decision by a company to go public
and sell its stock to the public is normally an expensive process, especially for small companies. This
decision is guided by a consideration of the advantages and disadvantages involved in going public. A
privately held company may decide to sell its stock to the public through an initial public offering due
to several reasons. First, such a company may engage in an initial public offering when it seeks to
raise extra capital through the sale of ownership to the public ( Initial Public Offerings Investor Guide
, par, 2). However, the most common reason is that the capital generated through this process doesn t
need to be repaid though debt securities like bonds

The Neo-Assyrian Empire
The Assyrians were very successful as empire builders. Although the Sea People destroyed their
domain a couple of times, the Assyrians still managed to revive creating the Neo Assyrian Empire, in
which their realm expanded especially in the Middle East and took control over Egypt. During the
Neo Assyrian Empire, the Assyrians were able to master the skill at using chariots and the proficiency
of iron smelting. They developed iron weapons and the first true cavalry force that gave them a huge
advantage over their neighbors who still used copper and tin weapons. Consequently, the Assyrians
became an unrivaled power over the ancient Near East and began exploring artworks and ways they
could adorn their cities. The Assyrians were also famous for building great roads that allowed them to
move quickly from place to place. Likewise, they built amazing cities with fortified walls, canals, ...

The Persians were well known for their respect for other cultures and religious practices. Cyrus, the
Persian ruler had allowed the Jews to build the Second Temple in Jerusalem and worship as they
pleased. The Persians believed that individuals possess free will and can choose to sin or not sin
(Joshua Cole and Carol Symes 51). Additionally, as the Persians enforced a standardized currency and
a system of weights and measures, it contributed for the trade and commerce growth. And with the
accumulation of wealth, it improved the quality of life. Beyond that, when Croesus, king of the
kingdom of Lydia decided to attack Persia in order to preserve his own realm from conquest, the
Persians were able to counterattack and defeat Croesus forces. Yet, Cyrus kept Croesus as an advisor
rather than a prisoner. A similar action from Cyrus was evident when he freed the Hebrews who had
been held captive in Babylon since 586 B.C.E. These two actions were enough to conquer people s
trust and loyalty and maintain the Persians enormous

Rhetorical Analysis Of Gandhi s Ethos, Pathos, And...
Mahatma Gandhi was one of the most iconic revolutionary figures of all time. This iconic figure
received worldwide fame by attacking British ruled India, while abiding by his moral codes of peace.
He was never known for being financially affluent, but was widely embraced for his focus on moral
growth. Gandhi applies Aristotle s modes of persuasion by using ethos, pathos, and logos in order to
convince his audience of his ideologies. In an article titled Ethos, Pathos, and Logos the author
effectively explains what each modes of persuasion means, Ethos is the ethical appeal, means to
convince an audience of the author s credibility or character. Pathos is the emotional appeal, means to
persuade an audience by appealing to their emotions. Logos is the appeal to logic, means to convince
an audience by use of logic or reason (Bernanke). Furthermore, through Gandhi s ability to appeal to
his audience s credibility, emotion, and logic Gandhi was able to connect with them effectively. In
Mahatma Gandhi s speech, Economic and Moral Progress, he applies Aristotle s modes of persuasion
of ethos, pathos, and logos to support his ideology about the significance of moral progress over
economic growth. Gandhi applies ethos when he succeeds in gaining credibility from the audience
during his introduction by stating he was invited by Kapildeva Malaviya s to speak for them. When

Deceptive Advertising
Deceptive advertising has been around since the beginning of time and still prevalent today.
Sometimes it is done unknowingly by an advertiser, however more often than not; it is done with the
intent to mislead the consumer making deceptive advertising a relevant marketing ethics issue.
Deceptive advertising is a growing trend among business in our society. This trend includes directly
trying to deceive consumers into thinking that they are getting something great but in reality they are
getting nothing. All age groups are targeted by deceptive advertising it is just a matter of how

According to the Better Business Bureau, an advertisement as a whole may be misleading although
every sentence separately is considered true. Second, the Federal Trade Commission examines the
misrepresentation from the view of a reasonable consumer or particular target group such as the
elderly. And finally, the representation, omission or practice must be a material one . This means that
if the misrepresentation is likely to affect the consumers decision whether or not to use or purchase a
certain product or service, this is considered material since the consumer may have decided differently
if not for the deceptive advertising (Federal Trade Commission, 1998[on line]). The 1990 s have
brought on some new targets for deceptive advertisers as well as a new focus for Federal Trade
Commission and the Better Business Bureau. The main target of the 90 s include: antioxidant claims,
the diet industry for misrepresenting weight loss claims, environmental or green marketing claims for
products claiming that they are good for the environment and are not, 900 numbers for
misrepresenting the costs of phones call and the internet. In one year, United Weight Control,

Growing Up In Ancient Hawaiian Culture
Growing up in an environment filled with a variety of cultures, there are words that mean different
things and are used in different ways. In Hawaii, there is an official language, but there is also a slang
language, pidgin , that was used during the era where sugar plantations were very popular. They
created this language so that people of different ethnicities could communicate with one another as
they traveled from other countries such as, Japan, China, Philippines, and Korea. Today, pidgin and
the Native Hawaiian language are used amongst the locals allowing us to connect on another level by
keeping our culture alive. Some words, however; have changed since ancestral times from something
innocent to something derogatory and insulting. The word, haole , pronounced hau lay , was used to
describe Captain Cook and his men, today; this word is used to describe Caucasian people and is used

no relations with race as racism was not a traditional Hawaiian way of thinking. Haole was just used

Summary Of The Open Window
Staring out the open window, Megan let the quiet breeze blow in and flow through her long, brown
hair. This is where she would take in her last moments of silence. She watched as the branches swayed
in the wind, their leaves just starting to turn red and fall to the ground. She thought about jumping,
escaping reality, but instead turned and stepped away, dragging the fabric of her puffed up, white dress
with her. Memories of her mother started to flood in her mind, drowning her with unpleasant
reflections. She wondered if she would be able to make it through the rest of the day.
Summer was approaching, Megan could tell by the way the warmth of the sun danced across her skin.
She was finishing up her last week of school, excited to see what summer adventures she would have
this year with her parents. The school bell rang and all of the students ran to line up in front of the
door, screaming goodbyes at the teacher and at each other. One by one, they exited the classroom,
made their way down the once colorful halls, and then out the doors to greet whoever was picking
them up that day. Megan searched the crowd of parents, sprinting towards her father who was standing
with his arms wide open. How was your day Meg? Did you learn any essential information today? her
father had asked, embracing her in his gigantic bear arms. From her view, her father stood like a
tower, hovering over everything beneath him. Education, to him, was important and he wanted to

Rom Chocolate Brand
During the communism years, mostly during Nicolae Ceauşescu s reign , when basic products (food)
were rationed and the other products were exported for economical growth, Kandia SA created the
ROM chocolate bar.
More exactly, ROM is a chocolate bar filled with rum cream, a unique product created for the local,
Romanian market, first created in 1964.
The brand, from the begining, was succesful, because of the lack of choices and, of course, the
restrictions which were applied by the communist government.
At that time, ROM was a delight for everyone, and all the Romanians, from children to old people,
knew the brand and identified with it, because they had to.
Therefore, the product now reminds Romanians of their childhood, actually linking ... Show more

Considering that, they are making the purchase on a low involvement level, since the product doesn t
have any kind of meaning for them, being just a low priced chocolate bar with rum cream filling,
which has the Romanian flag on it.
Nowadays, due to the new ROM campaign, the level of involvement is changing , increasing amongst
the young market segment. That s happening because customers are actively participating in this
campaign, which promotes the positive aspects of Romanians around the world.
Therefore, the involvement is being modified by changing the reason for which some people buy the
chocolate bar, actually by making them relate to ROM.
Overall, the new ROM campaign now focuses on „inviting consumers to buy the product and stand up
for what they are and believe in, campaign which seems to be successful, since, according to
www.romaniisuntdestepti.ro, 637.937 Romanians were involved in it so far.
Looking further at ROM, the strength of the brand equity can be acknowledged for a certain segment.
So, the ROM brand represents Romanian quality, history and a gate towards social groups
(nationalists). That is the brand equity created from the begining, which creates awareness. It does not
create awareness for everyone, though, and that is why new strategies are being used, in order to

conclusion that these 10 days/events changed America: the massacre at Mystic on May 26, 1637,
Daniel Shays rebellion on January 25, 1787, the start of the Gold Rush on January 24,1848, the Battle
of Antietam on September 17, 1862, the Homestead Strike on July 6, 1892, the assassination of

Royal Dutchs Shell Dynamics Essay
Royal Dutchs Shell Dynamics Royal Dutch Shell (RDS) is the sixth largest company on the planet. It
is made up of 1700 smaller companies and employs 101,000 people throughout the world. This is not
a nimble start up company that is attempting to create a brand new culture; this is a behemoth of a
company, with over 100 years of history and a workforce that is literally global. The business in which
RDS operates is primarily oil and natural gas, commodities that can fluctuate dramatically in market
value by the minute. Systems thinkers in the 1970 s at Royal Dutch began to plan for many future
scenarios, including a future where a barrel of oil would cost $15 (this, at a time when the value of a
barrel of oil was $30 a barrel). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
66) To become an organization that would survive another 100 years, RDS and its subsidiaries had to
re examine their culture. The leaders of the company, middle management, and the employees needed
to start viewing mistakes as opportunities to increase learning. This is an integral part of the learning
organization. The person or persons making the mistake should own it so it is not repeated, but not be
persecuted for making them. Mistakes can illuminate a flaw in any system, and the opportunity to
improve should not be missed. The manager becomes more of a learner and a teacher. The idea that a
leader is the person with all the answers needed to be thrown out the window. In today s rapidly
changing environment, there is no such person. Without the ability to embrace mistakes, any company
will perish.
Royal Dutch Shell and SOC also needed to be able to continuously rework its systems and structures.
This was a huge transformation considering the sheer size of the organization. The same old way
would simply not continue to work. Steve Miller, managing director for RDS, spoke about their
presence in French retail market. We were in the red and losing market share. The advent of
hypermarkets had changed the game, and we weren t responding effectively to this new competitive
threat....we either had to find a way to become profitable and grow, or we had to exit because the way
we were going, we couldn t stay in the game much longer.

logo printed on a banner is not enough. You have to b creative in the way you showcase your logo

Event venues can be rather big and you want to ensure your company logo is seen by as many people
as possible, not just those that happen to walk past your stall. For this, walkaround robots is a great,
creative way to showcase the logo. Walkaround robots come in a variety of shapes and sizes you can
choose something that fits with your overall branding or the theme of the event. Now, these robots can
then feature your logo, either in a sticker format or as a digital version on a display. In addition, the
robots can perform different types of special effects which will guarantee the eventgoers pay attention
to the robot when it goes past. You could even get robots that can greet people or answer questions
regarding your business. Coffee Artists to Serve Up Your Logo Events are often long and eventgoers
will eventually need to eat and drink. If you can provide the visitors some treats, you are sure to be
one of the stalls they visit. One quirky way to combine a treat with a branding opportunity is by using
coffee artists to create your logo. This means that you have a coffee bar at the event. When someone
orders a coffee, the barista will create your logo on top of the cup the person will immediately notice
the logo and make a note of your business. Of course, they also get to enjoy a super good coffee
experience! It s also possible to

Time in Artist s Work
Andy Warhol once wrote a poem about time. About Time. From time to time. Do time. Time yourself.
Weekends. In time. In no time. In good time. Between time. Time and again. Lifetime. Time worn.
Pass time. Mark time. Buy time. Keep time. On time. In time. Time off. Time out. Time in. Time card.
Time lapse. Time zone. The beforetime. The meantime. The aftertime. The All time. ¹ However
different the actions of these phrases may imply, they are all congruent under one conceptual factor:
time. The measurement of existence is based on the past, present and future. The residue of existence
is art. Art is a product of time. Deliberate or not, time in artists work play a role in the making through
process, narration, materials and motion.
Art is a process. One must move freely from idea, to research/exploration, to construct in order to
become fully immersed in the act of making. Even in the construction of a piece the elements go
through a series of actions, changes and functions bringing about a result. ² This all develops over
time. There are artists whose work directly comments on process and becomes part of the meaning.
Sol LeWitt s conceptual works by instruction and Chuck Close s photogravure production exemplify
process. Sol LeWitt s drawings derive from a set of specific instructions, which are executed often by
others than himself. The work changes each time it is explored depending upon the hand that is
drawing. The parameters of the instructions guide the participant

Samuel Jeffcoat

Life for Equiano was an emotional roller coaster. He was overwhelmed by turmoil and rejoice as he
was separated and reunited with his family, anguish from constant voyages from master to master,
satisfied regardless of his particular situation with regard to slavery, and most importantly determined
to elucidate society as to what life as a slave was like. Equiano s experience on African soil was filled
with pleasantries and hardships while his experiences on American soil was Equiano s opportunity for
religion and education. Slave owners in Africa were far more accustomed to African ways of life in
contrast to the slave owners in America, and although his voyage on the middle passage into European
territories left him culture shocked and disgusted with European treatment of slaves, eventually he
adjusted to European customs and way of life in America. To start, the African slave owners better
understood the adversities and agony the African natives had to overcome as well as their ways of life,
thus treating them respectfully while the middle passage left him feeling violated and mistreated. The

An 46 Year Old Male With Chest Pain
Scholarly Assignment on an 46 year old male with chest pain Chest pains is one of the most common
reasons for presentation to the emergency department (Czarnecki, Wang, Tu, Lee, Schull, Lau,

occur? Where exactly on your chest does the pain occur? Is the pain superficial or deep? Does the pain
feel like it is dull, sharp, or throbbing? On a scale of one to ten how would you rate your pain? What

Peter Singer Famine
Everyone should have the right to live a stable life with all the necessary essentials, which include
food, shelter, and medical care. Unfortunately, not every individual in our world has access to either
one or all of these essential life elements. In Peter Singer s essay, Famine, Affluence, and Morality ,
Singer emphasizes the importance of giving back to those who are less fortunate. Singer in particular
claims that those who are affluent individuals should feel morally obligated to donate to humanitarian
causes. In Peter Singer s piece, he goes explaining a various reasons as to why affluent persons should
be morally obligated to donate essential resources that could be used to aid humanitarian causes. He
goes on by saying that if we can prevent bad, we ought morally to do it without making the situation.
In one of his examples, he describes a child drowning in a shallow pond. In the correct mindset, you
would go into the shallow pond and save the drowning pond. You will get your clothes muddy, but the

The Presentation Of Self As A Work Developed By...
The Presentation of Self In Everyday Life is a work developed by noted sociologist Erving Goffman.
In it, Goffman details the sociological perspective of our social interactions. He uses the metaphor of
theatre to better understand the complexities surrounding interactions; it is from this seminal text that
we establish words from the dramaturgical framework such as performance, backstage, front stage,
and costume as illustrations of interactionism. He begins the book by addressing the idea of
performance. For Goffman, performance refers to all the activity of any individual which occurs
during a period marked by his continuous presence before a particular set of observers and which has
some influence on the observers. (Goffman, 1959) In other words, performance is an analogy in
reference to how a person acts, in both the front stage and backstage, for their audience. Because in
every social interaction we are putting on a performance, Goffman believes that we each have a role as
well. As with a theatrical production, the front stage and the back stage are critical in understanding
how the interaction between individual and audience is carried out. The front stage or region is where
the superior more desirable impressions of the self are brought forth; in the background, actors display
a private and more nuanced version of the self as they consider this place separate from the role they
play in society. There is also the idea of offstage, which Goffman argues is the place

On the other hand, aluminum frames are more durable than wood but the problem with these frames is that they offer less insulation as compared to other materials. So if you choose aluminum frames, you might need to add thermal breaks to increase insulation. It s better if you consult with your contractor first. Vinyl frames offers great insulation among all when you compare replacement windows and it is the best solution but they incur more cost upfront. But you need to keep in the mind that they recover the cost in short life span. Low cost replacement windows are also available in the market these days. Selection of Panes You may go with one, two or three panes in your windows. The number of panes impacts on insulation. If you want great insulation, you should go for double or triple pane windows. But they incur more cost as compared to single pane windows. So it is recommended that first you set your budget and then select replacement windows with appropriate number of panes. And in the end, I would like to suggest you all that whatever replacement windows you install do not forget to keep them clean and maintained to get the maximum out of ... • 5. How Is Lady Macbeth s Vaulting Ambition Ambition is typically seen as a pathway to success, yet in the play Macbeth by William Shakespeare, it is clearly evident that this is not always the case. As the play progresses, Macbeth s overall aspirations in order to become king are continually tested. By looking at his overall motives, the adverse choices which reshape his destiny, and the fatal conclusions based on his insufficient decisions, we can clearly see how vaulting ambitions can be destructive rather than beneficial. To begin, Macbeth has many motives which persuade him towards becoming king. Unfortunately, many lack the powerful bonds that all humans need to survive and lead healthy, happy lives. In Susan Glaspell s play Trifles, Mrs. Wright is starved of the human interaction and relationships she so desperately needs. Consequently, she is never rescued from her loneliness, is brought to the point where she cannot handle any more of life s saddening struggles, and kills her husband in his sleep. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Another symbol of Mrs. Wright s lack of human interaction is her preserves in the kitchen. Mrs. Peters explains how Mrs. Wright worried [that] if the fire d go out [. . .] her jars would break (Glaspell 1174) and feels sympathy towards her. The men, on the other hand, do not understand how Mrs. Wright can worry over such small trifles (Glaspell 1174) as she sits in jail for possibly murdering her husband. As strange as it is, it is because the preserves, along with any other work she does in her house, is all that she has. It is all that Mrs. Wright can proudly claim as hers. Hence, the broken jars of preserves the women find in her kitchen represent Mrs. Wright s shattered dreams and expectations of a fulfilling life with her husband. Like the jars, Mrs. Wright bursts from the unbearable pressures of her life, and so, Glaspell clearly displays the power and importance of human relationships. Therefore, through Mrs. Wright s kitchen, Glaspell symbolically implies how vital it is to reach out and befriend the lonely and disheartened. Another symbol Glaspell uses to reiterate the importance of human contact and support is the names of the characters in the work. First, the fact that Glaspell never uses the characters first names (except for Mrs. Wright s in one scene) signifies that the problem regarding the lack of human relationships is not only in the rural areas of America, but across the world in every ... Essay on The Book of the City of Ladies An unlikely candidate to dispute the unfair, misogynistic treatment of women by men and society, Christine de Pizan successfully challenged the accepted negative views that were being expressed about women by the all male literary world of her era. Part of Christine s uniqueness stems from the time in which she lived, the middle to late 1300 s. The lack of a positive female role model to pattern herself after made Christine a true visionary in the fight for the equal rights of women. She writes, quot;...it would be impossible that so many famous men such solemn scholars, possessed of such deep and great understanding, so clear sighted in all things, as it seemed could have spoken falsely on so many occasions... quot; (4). Christine intelligently uses this quot;sugar coated quot; method to emphasize the point the point that these men were wrong. Although Christine was obviously outspoken, she knew her limitations. Her work would not be recognized, or even read, if she had openly attacked the male writers. Therefore, she instead chose to build them up the quot;solemn scholars quot; before opposing their positions. Christine s ironic humility does not stop with the prominent male writers of her time. She addresses God with the same rhetorical question as she asks, quot;Oh, God, how can this be? For unless I stray from my faith, I must never doubt that Your infinite wisdom and most perfect goodness ever created anything which was not good quot; (Pizan 5). Again, Christine carefully opposed the male point of view this time using Biblical references. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Theory Of The Prophet Muhammad Introduction In exploring the questions of how certain ethicist would respond if they had the choice of stealing food to give to a starving child, it s important to draw from a thorough and broad spectrum of philosophers in order to explore the experiment fully. In trying to obtain the broadest set of hypothetical opinions we ll look at the reasoning of al Ghazâlî from the medieval period, Immanuel Kant from the modern period, and finally Confucius an ancient ethical philosopher. By spanning the different centuries, cultures, and ethics of these great minds, we find three totally different approaches to answering that question. al Ghazâlî The first ethicist chosen for this analysis is al Ghazâlî, who as considered a divine command ethics. al Ghazâlî s reasoning derived from not focusing on consequences on earth but what consequences one s actions would lead to in the afterlife. He believed that everyone should emulate the teaches of the Prophet Muhammad as a model of behavior. Another interesting aspect of al Ghazâlî s ethics where that a person shouldn t try to avoid the less than desirable facets of human nature but to work on controlling them (Griffel, 2016). Faced with the prospect of stealing food to give to a starving child, al Ghazâlî would most likely agree that this was okay. The album s first song, Open the morning window, the sunshine comes in, the hope of today is a small bird singing , begins with a chorus of children gently chanting the song s absurdly long title repeatedly, first in Japanese then in English, upon which the melody begins to devolve into a chaotic patchwork of tape manipulations and field recordings, then a heavy rock guitar solo backed by a string section worthy of The Rolling Stones or one of ... • 19. Characteristics Of Expressionism In Sophie Treadwell s... Sophie Treadwell s Machinal exemplifies many characteristics of expressionism. Expressionism views technology and industrialism as the tools in materialistic society. The play uses industrialism in Episode One with the sounds of typewriters, filing cabinets, adding machines and the switchboard, which can be scene on page 580 line one. These mechanical sounds begin at the start of the scene and are present until the end of Episode One. Machinal also exemplifies the thematic organization of an expressionistic drama. Each episode is structured as an individual theme, rather than a cause and effect relationship. Page 580 starts the story with Episode One To Business, page 587 Episode Two At Home, page 593 Episode Three Honeymoon, page 597 Episode Four Maternal, Episode Five Prohibited, page 609 Episode Six Intimate, page 614 Episode Seven Domestic, Episode Eight The Law, and finally page 629 Episode Nine A Machine. Young Woman is the central character and is the only one to appear in every scene, helping to unify the message as expressionist dramas do. • 20. The Issues of Ethics Issues of Ethics The two major ethical theories that have the most relevance and prudence to my contemporary views are utilitarianism and those aligned with the concept of a categorical imperative. The philosophy of the former of these was widely pioneered by both Jeremy Bentham and John Stuart Mill. The notion of a categorical imperative was largely popularized by Immanuel Kant. In all actuality, the efficaciousness of these philosophies is widely determined by the particular moral dilemma which one is facing. Still, the true value in both of these theories lies in the fact that they can be applied to a wide variety of situations and help to dictate moral guidance. In many respects, utilitarianism, which is a branch of philosophy known as consequentialism, presents a diametrically opposed philosophical stance of that propounded by Kant and his categorical imperative (Boylan, 2009, p. 176). There is an extreme sense of mutability that accompanies the former of these approaches to ethics, which is attributed to the fact that the behavior that is determined most ethical depends on the circumstances that result from that behavior. Specifically, the action that produces the most good, to the most amount of people, is adjudged by utilitarianism to be the proper ethical decision to make. It is interesting to note that in this philosophy there are varying degrees of good produced. Quite often, ephemeral good or that which affects a finite amount of people is considered lesser ... • 21. Initial Public Offering by a Company Initial Public Offerings: An initial public offering is the decision by a company to sell its stock to the public for the first time. In some cases, this process is described as a transaction with which an investment banking company generates investment capital though making the company to go public. One of the most critical aspects within an initial public offering is significant public interest because investment bankers generate huge fees depending on the amount of capital raised. Consequently, the interest of investment bankers is usually attracted by large or well recognized companies. Initial public offerings are sometimes characterized with huge gains on the first day but they tend to flop when the financial market is cold. Overview of Initial Public Offerings: The decision by a company to go public and sell its stock to the public is normally an expensive process, especially for small companies. This decision is guided by a consideration of the advantages and disadvantages involved in going public. A privately held company may decide to sell its stock to the public through an initial public offering due to several reasons. First, such a company may engage in an initial public offering when it seeks to raise extra capital through the sale of ownership to the public ( Initial Public Offerings Investor Guide , par, 2). However, the most common reason is that the capital generated through this process doesn t need to be repaid though debt securities like bonds ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 38. The Presentation Of Self As A Work Developed By... The Presentation of Self In Everyday Life is a work developed by noted sociologist Erving Goffman. In it, Goffman details the sociological perspective of our social interactions. He uses the metaphor of theatre to better understand the complexities surrounding interactions; it is from this seminal text that we establish words from the dramaturgical framework such as performance, backstage, front stage, and costume as illustrations of interactionism. He begins the book by addressing the idea of performance. For Goffman, performance refers to all the activity of any individual which occurs during a period marked by his continuous presence before a particular set of observers and which has some influence on the observers. (Goffman, 1959) In other words, performance is an analogy in reference to how a person acts, in both the front stage and backstage, for their audience. Because in every social interaction we are putting on a performance, Goffman believes that we each have a role as well. As with a theatrical production, the front stage and the back stage are critical in understanding how the interaction between individual and audience is carried out. The front stage or region is where the superior more desirable impressions of the self are brought forth; in the background, actors display a private and more nuanced version of the self as they consider this place separate from the role they play in society. There is also the idea of offstage, which Goffman argues is the place ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
