1.Introduction
Mining is an important activity, as it extracts the source of most objects, tools and items that are
used in many ways in society. There are drawbacks, however, as it brings environmental and social
impacts, like pollution of the waterways, change in the landscape and the concentration of labour
force. In Waihi, the mining plays an important role in sustaining the economy of the city, but it also
brings problems that have to be managed by the Newmont Gold Company. The focus of the field
trip is to locate the potential environmental issues that may be linked to mining by using a natural
and physical resource inventory of the Waikato Region and Bay of Plenty.
2.Resource Inventory
1.1 The Waikato Region
In the Waikato Region, it is possible to see the extensive use of its flat landscape for farming.
Most of the farming activity is composed of livestock, cows being the most abundant animal.
There is a small number of poultry farms. The forestry is mostly restricted to hilly areas, where

and so forth, going through my head. I have visions of endless Williams examples and
illustrations on clarity. I see weeks of blog writings flashing through my memory. From all of this,
I now own and believe in a firm and personal definition of what style is and what good writing
entails. William Strunk and E.B. White s book The Elements of Style, along with Joseph M.
Williams s book Style Toward Clarityand Grace helped lead me to this point, which is: what is the

There must be guidelines. Strunk and White and Williams share those thoughts with their
readers, and while I do not agree with all of their rules, as a writer, I believe within these style
books I have found guidelines in which writers can fulfill their purpose. As a reader, I feel that if
writers follow some of the guidelines Strunk and White and Williams have to offer to the world, I
can come away from a piece of writing affected.
The next question would be: how is a reader affected? Well, a reader cannot be affected unless a
piece of writing is presented clearly. A piece of writing must be written in a way that any person
can pick it up, read it, and not only understand the point the author is trying to convey through her
/his writing, but be able to follow the flow of information. For that to take place, the information
must be presented in a clear manner. I believe this to be an important part of style; without it the
style of a piece of writing can be lost.
One of Strunk and White s principles of composition suggests that writers express coordinate
ideas in similar form. It goes on to explain that, ...expressions similar in content and function be
outwardly similar. The likeness of form enables the reader to recognize more readily the likeness
of content and function (26). By expressing similar ideas in the same or similar form, readers are
able to better understand how the ideas relate to each other

a new baby. Paternal leave can either be paid or unpaid and refers to many different types of leave

maternity leave as the period when a woman can legally be absent from work in the weeks before
and after she has a baby and paternity leave as a period of time that a father is legally allowed to be

disadvantages to this approach. First, some employees, especially if they are new, often
accumulate very little sick or vacation time. If someone is earning four hours a pay period and
there are 26 pay periods in a year, they would only accumulate approximately 13 days of leave. If
they accrue sick leave at the same rate, that would give the employee a total of 26 days of paid

My culture is influenced exponentially by my religion, Judaism. One symbol I used to represent
my religion was a menorah because the menorah represents one of my favorite Jewish holidays,

I observe tried Scorpius with my own eyes but I could not find it so I used my telescope to find it

On November 4, 2016 at 8pm, my friend Audrey and I went to the Nashville Symphony to watch
Mozart and Tchaikovsky concert. Audrey and I sat together in row C, Seats 21 and 22. This
section was close to front but still couple rows back in the middle section. The symphony was
pretty crowded on the main floor, and the balconies were semi full. When looking at the stage all
of the artists were in rows facing the crowd. They were in order based on their instruments which
I saw violins, violas, cellos, basses, flutes, horns and many more instruments. It was really neat

I liked watching everyone play their instruments and how amazing it sounded. Hearing the music
in class was not the same as hearing it in the symphony. The song came to a solo part then faded

There is a form that an ending can take a form far more subtle and yet more powerful than the
typical happy ending; the ending of true self realization. Men have an insidious way of deceiving
themselves most continue in this self destructive path for their entire lives, but some come to a
point where something strikes them, something that turns their constructed worlds upside down,
something that forces them to be honest with themselves; only when this something strikes them
can they come to a point of true self realization. The main character of The Remains of The Day,
Mr. Stevens, is one of them men to whom this self realization comes. In some roundabout way,

Stevens comes to see that there is a real joy that can be found in the waning years of one s life. As
the novel s name implies, the story centers around a man coming to grips with old age at first he is
resentful of the limits it puts on him, then he ignores it, then he comes to realize that it is

has been completely finished, a time when whatever burdens one has been carrying around can

The Danger of Deep Vein Thrombosis
Deep vein thrombosis (DVT) is a type of cardiovascular disease. DVT is a blood clot that forms
in the large deep veins in the leg or pelvis area and grows toward the heart. Including the veins in
the calf and thighs, the femoral, popliteal, and iliofemoral vein are also the sites of DVT
development. It is a mainly common and dangerous condition (Kesieme et al., 2011). Some
DVTs may cause no pain or swelling, whereas others might be quite painful and result in a lot of
swelling. Mortality is not high with prompt diagnoses and treatment for most DVTs. However
some can be a threat to your life, especially the ones that develop in the deep veins as compared
to the clots that develop in the visible superficial veins. Clot which forms in the deep veins is
more likely to break free and travel through the veins, which is then called an embolus. When an
embolus travels from the legs or pelvis area and lodges into the lung artery, the condition is
known as a pulmonary embolism or PE. This is a potentially fatal condition if it is not treated
immediately and can lead to death. As high as 50% of the time a DVT can progress to
pulmonary embolism. Collectively, DVT and PE are known as venous thromboembolism
(VTE). DVT and PE are highly preventable (Kesieme et al., 2011). Both DVT and PE are a major
public health problem worldwide. DVT affects approximately 0.1% of persons per year. The overall
average age and sex adjusted annual incidence of VTE is 117 per 100,000, with higher rates among
