Congratulations! Your research article was accepted for publication and has generated
interest from the publication’s readership. The next step in your social awareness campaign is
to compose a Public Service Advertisement that will effectively persuade your target audience
to support your cause.
Task
Final Project – Your Public Service Advertisement will be in the genre of a Campaign
Awareness Poster that could be posted on billboards or in public spaces to gain
awareness and support for your cause. Since you are now the resident expert on this
particular issue, you will be responsible for choosing and defining the purpose of your
public service campaign as best fits the angle of vision and argument in your research
essay, as well as your target audience. As we have practiced with former assignments
and course readings, the purpose and audience of your PSA should strongly affect the
rhetorical decisions you make in creating your poster. These rhetorical decisions, as
well as the design choices you make in creating your poster, must be detailed and
explained in a cohesive analysis letter to accompany your final project. This three-page
minimum reflective letter should explicitly state the purpose and audience of your PSA
poster, then explain how this specific design and message most accurately and
effectively remediates the text-based argument of your research essay into a visual
argument.
Rough Draft: CAP Concept Draft – Unlike other projects, you do not need to have your
poster completed for the rough draft. Instead, you will be submitting a two-page
minimum Concept Draft that explains at least two potential design ideas you have for
remediating your research essay into a Campaign Awareness Poster. You must detail
what these poster designs would look like and why these would be effective designs.
You may include sketches if you would like, but these would be in addition to the
minimum page requirement.
Formatting
PSA Poster – There are no specific size or formatting requirements for your poster, as
you will be making this design choices to suit the purpose/audience/message of your
research issue. This project does not have to be composed using digital technology, so
you are free to utilize your unique strengths, interests, and abilities to compose a
creative piece that reflects your research project. If you choose to draw or use craft
materials to make your poster, you must upload a scanned copy or photograph of your
poster, copied into a PDF or Word Document.
