Unit 3 Peer Review Worksheet
Use the following checklist to help you evaluate your partner’s writing. You must fill out each
question/prompt (__ indicates open-ended questions for which you must provide in-depth
responses). When you are done filling out the worksheet, please attach it to your response to your
partner’s essay post and submit it to the assignment drop box in the Unit 2 folder.

1. Can you identify the main idea or thesis of this essay?
2. If so, write the thesis here __
3. Can you suggest improvements in the thesis? If so, what? __
4. Does the thesis forecast the author’s angle of vision and argument in regards to this
issue?
5. Does this essay have an engaging introduction?
6. Does the assignment begin with a thought-provoking title?
7. Can you suggest improvements to the title or introduction? __
8. Is the writing clear and understandable?
9. Are there parts of the essay that are unclear? If so, highlight the passages that are unclear
in how they are working in the essay or developing the argument. Make suggestions to
these passages using the “Comment” feature under the “Review” tab in Microsoft
Word.
10. Is the Macro-Micro progression clear, cohesive, and logical?
11. How could the organization and structure of the essay be stronger and more cohesive? __
12. Are each of the parts and paragraphs connected with transitions that smoothly connect the
ideas of the previous section/paragraph to the next?
13. Make suggestions on how to transition using the “Comment” feature.
14. Does the essay contain persuasive language and strong vocabulary? Underline examples
of this.
15. If the essay contains little persuasive language, bold 10 nouns, verbs, or adjectives that
you think could be changed for stronger words.
16. Are the quotes contained in the essay used in support of the writer’s main
argument/thesis? If not, highlight passages that could be better incorporated.
17. Are all the claims made in the essay supported by outside research? If not, highlight
passages that could be better supported.
18. Does the conclusion end in an impactful and thought-provoking way that reflects upon
how this issue could affect the average reader?
19. Does the essay have correct MLA formatting and a works cited page?
20. Are there in-text citations throughout the essay?
21. Two extra suggestions for improvement __

You must fill out each question/prompt (__ indicates open-ended questions for which you must provide in-depth responses). When you are done filling out the worksheet, please attach it to your response to your partner’s essay post and submit it to the assignment drop box in the Unit 2 folder.
