This document outlines the lesson plans for a week in an 12th grade AP English class that will be analyzing and interpreting The Hunger Games trilogy. The class consists of 23 students between 16-18 years old from various ethnic backgrounds. Throughout the week, students will engage with the text through discussion, videos, research projects, and creating propaganda videos and robots related to themes in the novel. Technology like blogs, social media, and apps will be incorporated into lessons and for students to collaborate.

3. • By the end of the week the 12th grade AP
English class will be able to analyze and
interpret quality writing, apply effective
strategies and techniques in their own
writing, create and sustain arguments
based on readings, research, or personal
experience, demonstrate understanding of
standard written English and analyze
image as text with 85% accuracy.

history of Propaganda

• Discuss how these two items (podcast &
commercial) relates to our novel

8. Thursday:
• Writing Prompt:
• Will come from a song on YouTube; referencing our
novel
• Response on Wikispaces
• We will be looking at various poems and songs and one of
the underlying themes of the novel
• Then researching farther the history behind that
theme
• We will use sources such as YouTube, Powerpoint and
slideshare.
• Twitter Recap: Of the day
• Reminder of mid term project
• Beginning of Arts & Bots to collaborate with our novel

9. Friday:
• Writing Prompt:
• Students will begin to explore ideas of ways to
express a theme from the novel using a robot.
Using there PDF booklet and brainstorming.
• Listing the items we need in order to build our
robot.
• Note: We are using recycled materials
• We will write reflections on our process as we
move forward on Wiki.
• Twitter Recap: Asking parents to send in
recycled items
