Simplified characters are mainly used in China, Singapore and Malaysia and traditional characters are mainly used Taiwan and Hong Kong. In the United States, both character systems co-exist in different schools, communities, and media. To be an effective Chinese user, one should master either one character system or both. In order to deepen the learning of the lesson, “simplified characters and traditional characters” in the textbook, a series of tasks and assessments will be given to ask students to think and to demonstrate their learning through justification of the choice of using simplified or traditional characters.

to significant land degradation, adversely affecting the region's land cover.

accelerated due to factors such as agriculture and urbanization. Information regarding land use and
cover is essential for various planning and management tasks related to the Earth's surface,
providing crucial environmental data for scientific, resource management, policy purposes, and

Students will dialogue with peers in their group about ways to “right the wrongs” in Scout’s community. Extended Exercise: Students will use their knowledge of the story to construct dioramas that depict the main characters homes.
- 4. Student Objectives Students will work in groups of three to read, discuss the book and use Cornell notes to interpret quotes from the book to express their feelings after reading the book. Students will use the internet to do an in-depth study of the characters in the story. Students will use their critical thinking skills to analyze the story.
