ANALYZE THE LEARNER
Grade level: I will be teaching this lesson
to a classroom of Kindergarteners .
Age: The age group will be around 5 and 6.
Gender: There will be a mix of girls and
boys in my classroom. Around 11 girls
and 9 boys.
Culture: I plan to teach this in a rural
school district .
Learning Style: Visual and Audio
MAIN OBJECTIVES
1.) My students will learn how to identify and describe
shapes (squares, circles, triangles, rectangles, hexagons,
cubes, cones, cylinders, and spheres) (ODE).
2.) My students will learn to correctly name shapes
regardless of their orientations or overall size (ODE ).
3.) My students will learn to identify shapes as two-
dimensional (lying in a plane, “flat”) or three-dimensional
(“solid”) (ODE).
My class will learn these objectives through hands on
activities, crafts, and lessons on the SmartBoard and
activities in the computer lab.
100% of my class will learn this lesson in 1 week.
DAY BY DAY BREAKDOWN
Weak 1: Working with flat 2 dimensional shapes
Day 1: Students will learn definitions of 2D shapes by doing
various activities.
Day 2: Students will learn to identify 2D shapes through a poster
and a hands on activity.
Day 3: Students will learn to draw shapes by watching a video
and making their own shapes with paper and paint to hang
around the classroom.
Day 4: Students will learn to identify the difference between 2D
and 3D shapes.
Day 5: Students will learn the difference between 2D and 3D
shapes by going to websites that I created.
DAY BY DAY BREAKDOWN
Week 1: working with 3 dimensional shapes
Day 1: Students will learn to definitions of shapes by doing various
activities .
Day 2: Students will identify 3D shapes through a poster and a
hands on activity.
Day 3: Student s will learn to draw shapes by watching a video and
painting their own shapes to hang up around the classroom.
Day 4: Students will learn to identify the difference between 2D
and 3D shapes..
Day 5: I will give the students an overview of what they learned
about 2D and 3D shapes through websites that I created.
USE OF TECHNOLOGY
For this unit I will need a SmartBoard, a
computer lab, Photoshop, Wiki, Weebly,
YouTube, a poster, social media (Blogs,
Facebook, Twitter). The social media will
be for the Parents only. They can friend
me on there to see what is due and ask
me questions if they need to get ahold of
me.

Unit plan

  • 1.
  • 2. ANALYZE THE LEARNER Grade level: I will be teaching this lesson to a classroom of Kindergarteners . Age: The age group will be around 5 and 6. Gender: There will be a mix of girls and boys in my classroom. Around 11 girls and 9 boys. Culture: I plan to teach this in a rural school district . Learning Style: Visual and Audio
  • 3. MAIN OBJECTIVES 1.) My students will learn how to identify and describe shapes (squares, circles, triangles, rectangles, hexagons, cubes, cones, cylinders, and spheres) (ODE). 2.) My students will learn to correctly name shapes regardless of their orientations or overall size (ODE ). 3.) My students will learn to identify shapes as two- dimensional (lying in a plane, “flat”) or three-dimensional (“solid”) (ODE). My class will learn these objectives through hands on activities, crafts, and lessons on the SmartBoard and activities in the computer lab. 100% of my class will learn this lesson in 1 week.
  • 4. DAY BY DAY BREAKDOWN Weak 1: Working with flat 2 dimensional shapes Day 1: Students will learn definitions of 2D shapes by doing various activities. Day 2: Students will learn to identify 2D shapes through a poster and a hands on activity. Day 3: Students will learn to draw shapes by watching a video and making their own shapes with paper and paint to hang around the classroom. Day 4: Students will learn to identify the difference between 2D and 3D shapes. Day 5: Students will learn the difference between 2D and 3D shapes by going to websites that I created.
  • 5. DAY BY DAY BREAKDOWN Week 1: working with 3 dimensional shapes Day 1: Students will learn to definitions of shapes by doing various activities . Day 2: Students will identify 3D shapes through a poster and a hands on activity. Day 3: Student s will learn to draw shapes by watching a video and painting their own shapes to hang up around the classroom. Day 4: Students will learn to identify the difference between 2D and 3D shapes.. Day 5: I will give the students an overview of what they learned about 2D and 3D shapes through websites that I created.
  • 6. USE OF TECHNOLOGY For this unit I will need a SmartBoard, a computer lab, Photoshop, Wiki, Weebly, YouTube, a poster, social media (Blogs, Facebook, Twitter). The social media will be for the Parents only. They can friend me on there to see what is due and ask me questions if they need to get ahold of me.
