4. Proposal
• The title of my festival will be ‘PULSE festival’ due to the
festival being sponsored by PULSE magazine. The format I will
be advertising my festival posters will be on a A3 piece of
paper. This will be big enough and hopefully cheaper then
using other formats due to it being bold and eye catching if it
were to be posted around local towns. The content in the
poster will be the list of artists in the festival overt the 3 day
period as well as it containing the date as well as where the
festival will be located. My target audience for the festival will
be people who are aged around 16-25 due to it mainly
featuring music that has been featured around the time they
were listening to music.
5. Hand drawn drafts
Here are my hand drawn drafts for my poster print based advertisement and as you can
see from the annotations on it my background of the poster will be the main image. This
will hopefully make it eye-catching to the audience and get them to come to the festival. I
spaced out the boxes for the writing as I didn't’t want to make it overcrowded with
information and plus it makes it look more appealing as it is a quick read for who will be
there at the festival.

These are my Photoshop layouts and I like how they’re laid out on here then on the drafts as it is much
clearer and you can see how even though it is simple it will be effective in brining people in to read it.
8. Campaign message
• The campaign message is aimed at those who are aged between 16-24 and
consider themselves outgoing and energetic. This is due to the fact that the music
that will be played at the festival will consist mainly of electronic and R’n’B music
which would have been typically played when the audience begun to listen to
music more regularly. The message that is trying to get across to the audience is to
try and make them come to the festival and see what is being played there
through making the poster different from the rest and simulate the sensation of a
festival with the use of ink flowing through water. The choice of media its being
promoted on is print based. This is because it will make it easier for people to
notice it on the streets where it would be advertised as there is a possibility that
people who see it online might just ignore it as they may think its spam. However,
it can also be advertised on social media due to the rising interest in todays
technology and its uses such as Facebook, which in turn will help to gain more
people to come to the festival and enjoy themselves.
10. House style
• As my event is sponsored by PULSE
magazine, I will be using that logo on my
advertisement. However, I will change the
font for the word ‘Festival’. My favourite font
for the festival is the first one. This is
because I like how it uses brush strokes for
the font and I believe it is linked with
festivals as people make signs and posters
for it and would use a brush for the writing
on it.
• The font of text will be in Abadi MT
Condensed Extra Bold as it will make the
small writing easier to read when being
presented onto the poster.
13. Production plan continued
Equipment cost
Office space £1,500 (per 2 months)
Apple macbook (x9) £11,691
Adobe CS6 master collection £6433.54
Desks (x9) £855
Chairs(x9) £405
printer £40
Camera £549
Pens (x 10) £10
paper £6.99
On the table on the left, these are the basic necessities in starting company that are
for 9 people that will help with organizing the creating of a festival. Even though it may
be very expensive they are needed to for the magazine to be successful and to pull in
more buyers.
14. Risk assessment
• Permission- I will need to get the permission of both the
artist as well as the model of the photo to be able to use
the image in my magazine that they have taken so that if
I do use it, I will not be prosecuted for copy right use and
plagiarism. In order to be able to use the images I had to
sign a document saying that the images will only be used
for the magazine and nothing else otherwise I can be
prosecuted for inappropriate use.
• Area assessment- when scouting the location for the
background of the images I will need to take in an
account whether or not it is a safe place to take photos
at. This is because if the model is injured during the
photo-shoot I can be sued for compensation to the
model and potentially loose a lot of money in the
process. That is why it is very important to find a place
where it is safe to take place and not have a chance of
there being a risk of injury. The pace where the photos
were taken was a safe place with no dangerous objects
being around allowing a successfully photo-shoot to take
place
15. Software risk assessment
Resizing an image- when resizing an image hold
down shift and it will allow the image to not
pixelate which can cause the image to look
unprofessional. If you do not do this it can
affect the quality of the image and will have to
repeat the process of resizing your own image.
Eye dropper tool – this will allow you to keep a
consistent colour throughout the magazine and
will allow you to not get a different shade of the
same colour which when printed out can affect
the whole magazine entirely.
Colour swatches- by using colour swatches you
will be able to find the colour you are using
most often very quickly which will help reduce
the chance of getting a different shade of the
colour.
17. Legal and ethical
• Copyright- is when there is a legal right which lasts for a certain amount of years
so you can’t print, publish, perform, film, or record literary, artistic or musical
material that already exists. This means that if I take images from anyone without
their permission I could get prosecuted for plagiarism. This can also be used for my
own benefit as it is a system that protects me from having my own images used for
another format without my permission allowing me to prosecute them and get
money from it.
• IPSO- for my poster, I need to make sure that it follows the editors code and does
not breach it. If there is some material that would be considered commercially
sensitive then it needs to be brought to the regulator's attention so the content
can be handled so that it can be seen by the public without concern. Furthermore,
I would need to reframe from including any content that could be considered
harassment, racist or a breach in personal privacy otherwise it can affect the music
publisher.
