Today, in the industry of aluminum, the D. C. casting of billets and slabs is playing the major role. The producers of these slabs and billets are many. The end users of the product are OEMs. The degassing technology for producing these aluminum slabs and billets is provided by very few. There are two types of degassing methods currently in use. One of these, vacuum degassing, is used primarily in the steel industry and thus not generally used in the aluminum industry. The second method, generally employed in the aluminum industry, is rotary degassing, which uses finely dispersed argon, chlorine, fluorine to remove dissolved hydrogen and various salts from melt. The challenges associated with producing aluminum are reducing porosity due to hydrogen precipitation during casting through degassing processes; which generates detrimental effects on mechanical properties of alloy castings and removing impurities like; the Ca, Mg salts etc. from the molten metal. Looking at the degassing systems provided by these players, are going to be obsolete as the environment norms will become stricter in the next decade, because of the use of Fluorine and Chlorine for removing the Ca, Mg, etc. impurities from the molten metal as the ozone layer is getting depleted and process becomes more cumbersome and hazardous. So, the innovation in the technology is needed; which leads research interest on development of the ultrasonic degassing as a better option. During this research authors would be using ultrasonic technology over existing technology to compare the results of conventional degasser units available in the market such as LARSTM, SNIFTM, STASTM - ACDTM, AlpurTM, MDUTM etc., and would be finding out the better operating parameters of ultrasonic equipment for the process for replacement of Fluorine and Chlorine based old technology with Ultrasonic Technology. This research paper should underpin improvement in the process and hence improved hardness of material by elimination of the fluorine and chlorine usage by replacing it with ultrasonic technology with suitable mechanical design, metallurgical criteria and thermal analysis consideration. During the entire research and development authors had carried out various operations like Research on thermal and metallurgical behavior of the molten metal and alloys, Comparison of results achieved using ultrasonic technique over existing technique, Formulation of conclusion; making ultrasonic technique a proven technology, and Identifying the further scope of research and development. With the experiments carried out, authors found significant improvement in hardness of the material produced by ultrasonic degassing as compared with the hardness of material produced by conventional degassing.

In this paper, the modeling approach of Dirac voltage extraction of highly p-doped graphene field-effect transistor (GFET) measured at atmospheric pressure is presented. The difference of measurement results between atmospheric and vacuum pressures was analyzed. This work was started with actual wafer-scale fabrication of GFET with the purposes of getting functional device and good contact of metal/graphene interface. The output and transfer characteristic curves were measured accordingly to support on GFET functionality and suitability of presented wafer fabrication flow. The Dirac voltage was derived based on the measured output characteristic curve using ambipolar virtual source model parameter extraction methodology. The circuit-level simulation using frequency doubler circuit shows the importance of accurate Dirac voltage value to the device practicality towards design integration.

Iris recognition is considered to be the most reliable and accurate biometric identification system available. Iris recognition system captures an image of an individual person’s eye, than the image of iris is meant for the further segmentation and normalization for extracting its feature.Segmentation is used for the localization of the correct iris region in the particular portion of an eye and it should be done accurately and correctly to remove the eyelids, eyelashes, reflection and pupil noises present in iris region. The features of the iris were encoded by convolving the normalize iris region with 1D Log-Gabor filters and phase quantizing the output in order to produce a bit-wise biometric template. The Hamming distance was chosen as a matching metric, which gave the measure of how many bits disagreed between the templates of the iris.

Five types of carbon black nanofillers, namely Intermediate Super-Abrasion Furnace ISAF (N220), High-Abrasion Furnace
HAF-LS (N326), Fast Extruding Furnace FEF (N550), General Purpose Furnace GPF (N660) and Semi-Reinforcing Furnace SRF-HS
(N774) were incorporated with butadiene acrylonitrile rubber (NBR) in order to improve its physical properties. Young's modulus was
found to increase with nanofiller content. Percolation concentration was detected in mechanical as well as in Physico-chemical behavior.
The experimental values of the normalized Young's modulus fit well with Pukanszky et al. model; taking into consideration the difference
in carbon black-filler type. It is noticed that the characteristic time of swelling in toluene, τ is higher for NBR loaded with 30 phr ISAF
and for the rest of samples it increases with increasing of particle size. Finally oxygen ion beam irradiation for percolative loading NBR
nanocomposites increases Young's modulus nearly by 2-3 times.
Mechanism of Fracture in Friction Stir Processed Aluminium AlloyDr. Amarjeet Singh
Aluminium alloys are used for important
applications in reducing the weight of the component and
structure particularly associated with transport, marine,
and aerospace fields. Grain refinement by scandium (Sc)
addition can eliminate the casting defects and increase the
resistance to hot tearing for high strength aluminium alloys.
FSP for cast aluminium alloys have been focused and it has
great advantages including solid state microstructural
evolution, altering mechanical properties by optimizing
process parameters. These parameters are tool rotational
speeds (720, and 1000 rpm), traverse speeds (80, and 70
mm/min), and axial compressive force at 15 kN, etc. The
mechanical properties had been evaluated on FSPed
aluminium alloy with different microstructural conditions.
Fracture properties of aluminium alloys are very important
for industrial applications. Tensile and fracture toughness
properties were correlated to microstructural and
fractographic features of the aluminium alloys need to
explore their essential failure mechanisms.
The main objective of this project is to be produce copper reinforced metal matrix composite (MMC) layers using micron sized AlN particles via friction stir processing (FSP) in order to enhance surface mechanical properties. Micro structural evaluation using Optical Microscopy (OM) and Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) indicated that an increase in traverse speed and a decrease in rotational speed cause a reduction in the grain size of different groove width (0,0.4,0.8,1.2 mm) of stir zone (SZ) for the specimens friction stir processed (FSPed) without AlN particles. It was found that upon addition of AlN particles, wear properties were improved. This behavior was further supported by SEM images of wear surfaces. Results demonstrated that the micro composite produced by FSP exhibited enhanced wear resistance and higher average friction coefficient in comparison with pure copper. Tensile properties and fracture characteristics of the specimens FSPed with and without AlN particles and pure copper were also evaluated. According to the results, the MMC layer produced by FSP showed higher strength and lower elongation than pure copper while a remarkable elongation was observed for FSPed specimen without AlN particles and been greatly developed by the use of AlN.

Aluminium Hybrid Composites are the new groupof
metal matrix composites (MMCs) due to their attractive
properties like high ductility, high conductivity, light weight
and high strength to weight ratio and is a response to the
dynamic ever-increasing demand of these super material in
the field of aircrafts and marines. Carbon Nanotube (CNTs)
are also known for their high strength and stiffness and their
low density which when combined together makes CNTs an
ideal reinforcement. This work briefly reviews the research
revelation of an Aluminium (Al-6061) based hybrid metal
matrix composite reinforced with CNTs and TiO2. The
Hybrid Aluminium Metal Matrix Composites (AMMCs) is
prepared with various CNTs weight percentages (0, 0.5, 1 and
1.5 wt. %) and keeping TiO2 weight percentage fixed to
1%.Stir Casting (SC) is focused in general to successfully
fabricate the MMCs. The discussion of this work revolves
around tensile test, hardness test, and Scanning Electron
Microscope (SEM) of the MMC. The mechanical properties
of the fabricated MMCs materials like tensile strength,
hardness and impact strength is found by using these
experimental methods. It has been observed that the tensile
strength of the MMCs increases in the presence of TiO2 and
CNTs and increases even more with the increase in the weight
fraction of CNTs. Same results have been obtained for
hardness and impact strength where there is an increase in
them in the presence of TiO2 and CNT and their value
increases even further with increase in weight fraction of
CNTs.
Experimental Study with Rotating Tool Electrode of EDM for NiAlloyIJMER
Conventional machining process has the limitation when desired surface finish and
dimensional accuracy in geometry is required in difficult to machine aerospace materials especially for
the cases of drilling holes. Non conventional advance machining processes (AMPs) are extensively used
in the industry to machine for the complex geometrical dimension along with desired surface finish in
hard materials. Electrical Discharge machining with modification for holding and rotating the
electrode has been used in the present experiment for making holes in the Nimonic alloy. This paper
investigate the influence of gap current, pulse on time, duty factor, tool electrode rpm and especially the
polarity of the machine on Material Removal Rate (MRR) and surface roughness (Ra) for machining of
Nimonic alloy. It is observed that with suitable control of input parameters of Electrical Discharge
drilling (EDD), MRR and Ra both found to be improving together from 60 to 90 mg and 4.8 to 2.9 µm
respectively which confirm the viability of using tool electrode rotation in EDM machining.
Experimental Investigations on Tribiological Properties of 6061-T6 Al Alloy b...IJAEMSJORNAL
Microstructure and tribological properties of Al-TiB2 nano surface composite fabricated by Friction Stir Processing (FSP) were evaluated. To vary the percentage of TiB2 three different slot thickness viz. 1mm, 1.5 mm and 2mm were considered. Microstructural evaluations showed a nearly uniform distribution of TiB2 in the aluminium matrix after FSP with the addition of composite powder. Microhardness test results shoes FSW of Al6061-T6 alloy with 2mm groove width has more hardness. tribological properties were evaluated at two different sliding velocities 0.314m/s and 0.48m/s and results shows that at lower loads there is no much difference in wear rate of surface composite made with different slot sizes but with increase in load and sliding velocity wear rate was increased , however, larger slot Al6061-TiB2 Surface composites show better wear resistance.

At o ne side the temp is high &at other side the temp is low this also pr oduce cracks. To simulate that casting we use the M AGMA SOFTWARE for simulation & validate it using NDT.

Wear characteristics of pure aluminium, al alloy & al-alumina metal mtrix...eSAT Journals
Abstract In this report, an aluminium metal matrix was reinforced with 1.5 wt. % of Al2O3 nano particles using non-contact cavitation method to prepare the metal matrix nano composite. Microstructural examination conducted on the sample revealed a uniform distribution of alumina particulates. Sliding wear behavior of the as-cast MMNC was studied in dry condition, under different test conditions by varying the load and the sliding velocity, with an unlubricated Multiple Tribo Tester. It was found that sliding wear resistance improved considerably with the addition of alumina nano particles. Microscopic examinations of the worn out surfaces of pure Al, Al-alloy (duralumin) and MMNC reveal that the MMNC has greater resistance to sliding wear compared to pure aluminium and duralumin. Wear increases with increase in load and sliding velocity. Delamination and abrasion are the dominating types of wear observed. Similar to other state-of-the-art digital twins, this technology creates a digital replica of the physical system executed in real-time or faster, which can modify hardware controls. However, its advantage stems from distributing computational efforts by utilizing a hierarchical structure composed of lower-level digital twin blocks and a higher-level system digital twin. Each digital twin block is associated with a physical subsystem of the hardware and communicates with a singular system digital twin, which creates a system-level response. By extracting information from each level of the hierarchy, power system controls of the hardware were reconfigured autonomously. This hierarchical digital twin development offers several advantages over other digital twins, particularly in the field of naval power systems. The hierarchical structure allows for greater computational efficiency and scalability while the ability to autonomously reconfigure hardware controls offers increased flexibility and responsiveness. The hierarchical decomposition and models utilized were well aligned with the physical twin, as indicated by the maximum deviations between the developed digital twin hierarchy and the hardware.

III. EXPERIMENTAL SETUP
Author’s equipment is as per Figure-1. It consists of graphite crucible of 3 Kg capacity in which molten metal
gets purified by inserting an ultrasonic probe with 20 KHz frequency [10]
and 2 KW power, which is surrounded by
resistance furnace with temperature control device which can heated up to 1280 °C temperature within the time period of
30 minutes. The furnace has set temperature device which can be used for setting up the temperature as per user’s wish.
The heating coil gets disconnected when temperature reach + 3 °C than set temperature value. Heating starts again as the
temperature falls down -3°C than set temperature. The ultrasonic probe is made up of titanium niobium alloy and can be
fitted on a stand with mechanism which provides linear movement to it in vertical direction for insertion and removal
purpose. The probe gets connected with the ultrasonic generator by flexible four way cable. Authors had replaced rotating
parts of existing technology equipment with ultrasonic probe as per Figure-2. In details of Figure-2 the cross sectional
view of ultrasonic probe with internal parts is shown.

IV. PROCEDURE FOR EXPERIMENT
I. Design of Experiment
In author’s experimental work there are three variables namely Time of ultrasound treatment, Amplitude of ultrasound
and Temperature of melt. Due to design and funding for experimental set up constrains, authors had fixed the total quantity
of melt, which is 3 kg. Thus their crucible of cylindrical shape and size was fixed by the dimensions such as 4 inch internal
diameter and 3 inch total depth; due to these fixed parameters their immersion depth of ultrasound probe tip was also fixed
which was 2 inch from the free surface of melt. This 2 inch facilitates the bubbles to grow enough while travelling from
bottom of melt to free surface of melt and hence better absorption of dissolved hydrogen can be achieved. The penetration
of ultrasound up to bottom of melt can also be achieved by keeping the depth of immersion of ultrasound probe by 2 inch
from the free surface of melt and hence the salts and impurities of Ca, Mg, etc. could be broken down into small particles
and could float in form of dross on the free surface of melt, which can be removed with the help of graphite rod by
skimming action. 20 KHz frequency was also a fixed parameter due to design and manufacturing constrains of ultrasound
generator. However, this parameter can be made variable with the evolution of technology in ultrasound generator system
in future [10]
.
Thus, according to their experimental setup authors had chosen three variables with values as per below:
1. Time of ultrasound treatment: 1 minute, 2 minute, 3 minute [10]
2. Amplitude of ultrasound: 70% , 80% and 90% of 2µm peak to peak
3. Temperature of melt: 690 ºC, 705 ºC and 720 ºC [10]
II. Governing Theory for Bubble Dynamics through Ultrasonic Vibrations:
In author’s experimental work bubbles play an important role. More the finer bubble size more they will travel slowly
against metallostatic pressure exerted by liquid aluminum and while doing so bubbles will absorb the non dissolved
hydrogen through melt height and eventually grow bigger and come up to the free surface of molten metal pool. The
bubbles will burst atop of molten metal pool and will liberate contained hydrogen gas to atmosphere. The ultrasonic
vibrations help to produce very small bubbles and also break the alkaline impurity particles to very small size as they
would float on the molten metal pool as dross. The graphite skimmer helps to remove such dross. The Rayleigh – Plassett
