This gives me some insight into how to webinar and what makes a good or dreadful webinar. So why not have double the fun by presenting the How to Webinar… webinar.

The word webinar is derived from seminars delivered across the web. Many seminars are interesting but delivered by people who seemed intent on making even an insomniac fall asleep. The simplicity of a presenter using a few slides to inspire their audience anywhere on the planet over the internet is truly exciting. Therein lies the main issue. It’s so easy to do a webinar but so hard to do well. The legacy of the seminar runs deep.
Webinars help people take action
People these days have an appetite to absorb new ideas and information. The quicker and more easily the better. The webinar is a brilliant way to help them satisfy this need. As webinar presenters we have a responsibility to engage people in the process. Otherwise we’ve short changed our audience. We want our audience to leave inspired. They must want to take new ideas and apply them to their own lives or work. Presenting an engaging Webinar is not easy. At GLOE we have a maxim ‘Participants not passengers’. If people participate then they are more likely to be engaged.
A webinar should not be a didactic conversation. Great presenters invite their audiences into a dialogue. The How to Webinar …. Webinar demonstrates how we can encourage people to join in. Some people would rather be viewers. That’s fine. It’s in their nature to reflect on the experience. As presenters we should always give our audience the opportunity to participate. For others expressing their thoughts helps to make sense of the ideas we present. However people learn our goal as webinar presenters is to help people take action.
