 Requirements of the ceramics:
➢ electrical insulation up to high temperatures
 typical temperatures
− App. 1.200 – 1400 °C (resistance wires)
− App. 1.500 – 1.800°C (ceramic heaters, MoSi2, SiC, ZrO2 etc.)
➢ High or low thermal conductivity (depending on the design of the heating element)
➢ Good mechanical strength up to high temperatures
