Manufacturing Output Rises in the Us
An economic revival is here according to an article in The Atlantic titled America s
Coming Manufacturing Revolution . In the author s own words, The combination of
lower energy prices, innovative information technologies, and advances in robotics
and materials science are powering a manufacturing revolution that will reinvigorate
the U.S. economy, (NaГm, Apr. 21, 2014). Bold words considering the recent
financial crisis and drama in the geopolitical arena, but is there enough evidence to
back his claims of this so called manufacturing revolution ? Several news outlets are
reporting gains in manufacturing operations such as increases in labor and use of
factory space. Using this information, I hope to describe the elements used to... Show

The Federal Reserve Bank assessed potential being used at factories, mines and
utilities in the U.S. reached 79.2 percent in March . Comparatively, the national
average from 1980 until now is 79.4 percent (Chandra, Apr. 20, 2014). According to
an article in Reuters, this is the highest capacity utilization since June 2008.
(Nawaguna, Apr. 16, 2014) Incidentally, as resources are used more efficiently,
manufacturing output will increase. Higher labor costs and allocation of factory
space are excellent indications that manufacturing output has indeed gone up within
the United States. However, I would not consider it a revolution by any means
because most of the data suggests this is only a gradual upward trend and hasn t
changed any aspects of business. Although, if this upward trend continues, we can
expect more job openings, greater use of factory space, and more made in the US
products floating up around the markets of the world. Luckily, accountants aren t
paid to forecast so my essay ends here.

A Research Study On Health Care
Evidenced based research is defined as continually using current best evidence
based research when decisions have to be made about the patients care or health
care (Melnyk, Fineout Overholt, 2005). There is a clinical/medical question that
needs to be looked into. The question is researched by searching for information on
that question paying close attention to the important reviews and evaluations of the
information given (Melnyk, Fineout Overholt, 2005). This requires that you review
more than one study in order to get reliable and more dependable results which can
lead to a better understanding of the research question (Melnyk, Fineout Overholt,
2005). One example of evidenced based research: A health care professional
suggests that a patient who has recently had stomach bleeding take acetaminophen
to treat his arthritis pain. The health care professional has done research on this and
research has shown that acetaminophen has less risk for stomach bleeds than most
of the other regular pain relievers (Ahrq.gov, n. d.). The health professional has
performed evidenced based research. All health care providers who utilize evidence
based practice uses research evidence, clinical expertise and patient preferences
which make up the components of evidenced based research. It may also be
beneficial to use the systematic reviews which are the summary of the research
results that will give information helps with the evidence based practice process

Armed Force Application Essay
My motivation to serve in the military was singular: to serve and protect my
country, family, and friends as a member of its Armed Forces during a time of war.
Before entering high school, I desired life as a chemist, working in laboratories or
among nature to discern its secrets. After the events of 9/11/2001, watching aircraft
strike our people and realizing a plane crashed in Shanksville, PA, less than two
hours away from my home, I knew my future would drive me to serve. I continued
my fervent interest in STEM fields, but I sought a way to apply that ambition
towards public service as a member of the Armed Forces. After completing college
entrance exams, the flyer for West Point drew my attention. Once eligible to apply, I

Theme Of Symbolism In A Doll House
People always dream something and try to find themselves in the hope and lies
behind the real world. Continuing in the second plan is a character of the human
soul. Honesty makes people different each other. People know themselves accurately,
and when bad things happen, they try to trick themselves into something else. Torvald

subconscious cannot be ignored. The play has excellent examples of symbolism and

Linde also states the same word for her that Nora was same in the school. When Nora
wants to show everything she bought for Christmas, she was pleased and excited
because she thought Helmer would be feeling the same way. When Torvald saw a
bunch of things that Nora purchased, he said, We cannot spend money recklessly.
Moreover, Nora still does not care about the money, however; she thinks she can
borrow money quickly, which she did earlier, but it is not easy for Helmer, who
cares about his reputation. In the play, the Christmas tree symbols Nora s
expectation, and how one little thing can affect a relationship smoothly. Tarantella
is a dance, which describes the story of horror and enthusiasm of life s joy.
Tarantella dance plays a renewing role in the attitude and personality. Torvald
prepares a show with Tarantella dance for the guests. This show is the product of
Torvald s aesthetic devotion. He acts like a theatrical director, so he trains to Nora
until she does the dance lovely. Torvald does not know about Nora s debt, which
she did for saving Torvald from his disease. Krogstad already knows the situation,
who is a lawyer and works with the same bank that Torvald works. Nora scares if
Krogstad will tell Torvald that Nora illegally used her father s sign because Nora
pretended his father s signature to get the money. Nora does not act normal when she
dances; she is nervous about thinking that Krogstad might talk about to the debt soon.

Omelas Research Paper
As a society, Omelas has debatably, the happiest people on earth. That is what
makes it fake. No one can be this happy all the time. It s like that one kid in every
class at school who smiles constantly. You don t know why but they are always

happy all the time. Pain, whether physical or emotional, is something most of us
can relate to. It s what makes us real, it gives us knowledge on what needs to be
improved in our lives and spaces. A city without pain, anguish or fear is a society
without progress. How are you supposed to grow without failing every once and

I just know I would never be happy in this community. Not only would it eat away

fact that they know about it and are okay with it. No one should have to carry the
weight of the world on their shoulders, and I will not support a society that believes
it is okay. Although there may be no impact of me leaving, I could not live with
myself if I stayed. These people are not living in a reality they are not dimensional

Today s Hellfighters
The 369th Infantry Regiment served 191 days under enemy fire in Europe. They
returned home one of the most decorated American units of World War I. The
syncopated stylings of their regimental band, led by James Reese Europe, introduced
French listeners to American jazz. As soldiers, the Harlem Hellfighters left their

People crowded the streets, welcoming home these brave soldiers. But despite this
celebration, little to nothing had changed in their day to day lives. And it would
take another world war, and decades of civil rights activism before the hopes of
these African American doughboys would be realized. In fact, the inequalities
experienced by these brave men is still being remedied today. Legislation passed
Congress in December 2014 to pave the way for Sgt. Henry Johnson, who served
with the 369th, to receive the Medal of Honor for his actions during World War I.
While there was no official policy of discrimination regarding the Medal of Honor,
during World War I prejudice in the Armed Services prevented African Americans
such as Johnson from receiving the honor. But in death, the Harlem Hellfighters no

Essay about Birth Order
Birth Order
Does being the eldest child make people highly intellectual, people pleasing,
perfectionists? Are the middle children always impatiently competing for parental
attention by rebelling against the rules? Are all last born children the spoiled,
selfish, favorites? Birth order, a highly controversial topic, is defined as the
dynamics of an individual s place in the family compared to that of their siblings.
Birth order has been in a fiery discussion for over one hundred years; some say it s
the very foundation of each one of our personalities, while others claim that the
margin of error is just too wide for these coincidental patterns to bear any meaning.
Alfred Alder, the first to study birth order and the family dynamics that ... Show more

Another famous, or infamous, characteristic eldest tend to portray is that of
selfishness (Murphy). Born into a life of privilege and not having to share a single
thing gives them their first dose of the selfish trait. They are the receivers of the first
time parent pampering love, and they are the first to experience the confusion that
accompanies the birth of a younger sibling. They are not used to having to share
everything; therefore they act as if they are the Alfa male to the new arrival, which
also explains the previously stated dominant trait that domino effects them into the
role of the mentor.
One thing is for sure about eldest children: They are nothing like middle born
children. Middle children are dubbed as the outgoing, friendly, and loud sibling.
All too often do they get lost in the madness of the family dynamics and, in turn,
develop a competitive nature. They are eager for their parents approval and praise,
but feel as if their older sibling received too much credit and their younger sibling
receives too little discipline compared to them (Neal). They are both teacher and
student, babysitter and babysat, too young for the privileges of the firstborn but too
old for the latitude given the last (Kluger).
Much could be said about the last born children because they seem to always fit the
molded stereotype of themselves. Their characteristics can be picked up on in a
matter of minutes in a conversation; there
Why Augustus Caesar was a Better Ruler than Julius Caesar
The two greatest leaders of Rome are without a doubt Julius Caesar and Augustus
Caesar. These two men have defined leadership for a country. Many other countries
have modeled their ethics and used them as their own to better themselves as a whole.
Without these two men, our world would not be the same in just about every way.
Although these two men were both great, one of them was better than the other.
Although Julius Caesarwas a dominant leader, AugustusCaesar was certainly the
better leader. Julius Caesar was said to be a great ruler. Julius Caesar conquered
many great lands. Some places that Caesar conquered was lands such as Britain,
Gaul (modern day France), Egypt, Syria, Pontus (modern day Turkey), and most
of the western European continent. Caesar has always been one of the most
controversial characters of history. His admirers have seen in him the defender of
the rights of the people against an oligarchy. His detractors have seen him as an
ambitious demagogue, who forced his way to dictatorial power and destroyed the
republic. That he was gifted and versatile there can be little doubt. He excelled in
war, in statesmanship, and in oratory. (Columbia Electric Encyclopedia) Although
Julius Caesar was an excellent leader, he was not as great of a ruler as Augustus
Caesar. A major key to being a good leader is that the leader should try to keep his or
her people safe. Peace and protection is far better than havoc and destruction. Julius
Caesar was a warlord, not a

Salmonella description, pathogenesis, symptoms
Salmonella is a gram negative bacillus that causes inflammation of the GI tract and in
some cases, if the immune response is not sufficiently powerful and treatment is not
administered, can become systemic and cause even more serious conditions
throughout the body. After ingestion, these bacteria cause infection by invading the
epithelial cells of the small intestine and macrophages. Though there are more than
two thousand different subspecies of Salmonella, few of them are able to cause
serious conditions in humans for most, the disease resolves itself in a matter of days.

salmonella is a specialized invader of the gastrointestinal system that can cause a
variety of painful conditions of varying severity.
The bacteria known as Salmonellae are gram negative, rod shaped bacilli that belong
to the family Enterobacteriacea they are typically anaerobic, unable to form spores,
and motile, or able to move around spontaneously. An important characteristic of the
Salmonella bacteria is that they are able to grow and multiply outside living host
organisms, thus having greater survival chances than otherwise (Gray and Fedorka
Cray 56).
The bacteria can have a combination of three antigens: the O antigen, H antigen,
and Vi antigen. The O antigen is located in the cell wall of the bacterium, and each
salmonella bacillus may posses 2 or more O antigens on its surface. Also, the H
antigen is a flagellar antigen that can be destroyed by heat and enables the motility of
the Salmonella bacterium (Slack and Snyder 295). The last antigen is known as the
Vi antigen because this antigen is related the virulence of the bacterium. As a capsular
antigen, its presence enhances the virulence of the bacterium that has it of all the sub
species of Salmonella, only two, Salmonella enterica serovar (S.) typhi and S.
choleraesuis, have the Vi antigen (296).

providing background information about himself. As a child, Jones was taught that
violence was wrong, and as he grew up, he learned that violent comics and stories
aided him to become an action movies and comic book writer. In his article, the
author addresses why violent media are good for children. He points out that it helps
them transform better socially, explore and conquer their feelings, and improves self
knowledge. Jones purpose is to inform readers about the positive use of violent media
on children. The author uses rhetorical appeals of pathos and ethos, and stylistic
techniques such as allusions and repetitions to create his argument. In his article,
Jones uses the rhetorical appeal of ethos. He used the observation from his son to
support his main argument. Jones writes, I have watched my son living the same
story transforming himself into a bloodthirsty dinosaur to embolden himself for the
plunge into preschool, a Power Ranger to muscle through a social competition in
kindergarten . This indicates that the Jones is observant, and it adds to his credible
character. In addition, the author used the quotes from Melanie Moore, Ph.D., a
psychologist who works with urban teens support his argument. The psychologist
says, Children need violent entertainment in order to explore the inescapable feelings
that they ve been taught to deny, and to reintegrate those feelings into a more

The Diamonds And Diamond Jewelry Market

This is also true for high end diamond jewelry. Brands reduce consumers risk of
making the wrong purchasing choice and help them express their personality by way
of association.
Increase in technical ability in synthetic gems: Synthetic gem companies and the
technology they use are becoming increasingly sophisticated. If synthetic stones leak
into the diamond value chain without being properly labelled as synthetic, they may
pose a risk to the industry by undermining consumer confidence in the authenticity of
what they are buying.
Four Uncertainties that can define the future:
The global macroeconomic outlook:
The first uncertainty to take into account is the global macroeconomic outlook.
Historically, demand for diamonds has increased more or less in line with GDP
growth. We expect this to continue in the future.
The future of retail consolidation and branding:
Retailers play an important role in influencing whether and how consumers buy
diamonds. Their ability to invest in attracting consumers to the category (for instance,
through branding) is determined by the health and scale of individual players in the
market. A fragmented retail industry is unlikely to invest significantly in promoting
diamond jewellery. Potential changes in consumer attitudes about diamonds:
Retailers can only attract consumers to the diamond jewellery category if consumers
perceive diamonds as being inherently valuable and attractive and more desirable than
other luxury goods.
Don Quixote

In Chapter 7 of Don Quixote, Miguel de Cervantes portrays Don Quixote as an
idealistic character who believes that the windmills are giants, and because of this, it
can be said that Don Quixote has a crazy mind that creates objects to be something
they are not. Don Quixote is a chivalric romance and takes place at the period of the
Spanish Inquisition; however, Cervantes Xportrays a lunatic man who goes on

shows Quixote being quixotic. Quixotic deals with extravagant chivalry or romance,

(Cervantes 36). Quixote tells this to Panza because Quixote s reaction towards
these windmills are caused by his thinking that he is a real knight errant, and his
duty of a knight errant is to fight in battles and conquer the giants. Another example

Chaarismatic Writing Style Of The New Boy Network By...
Analysis of The New Boy Network The New Boy Network is an example of author
Malcolm Gladwell s charismatic writing style which makes seemingly drab subjects
vividly interesting to a wide variety of readers. In this essay, he explores the
complex nature of job interviews and how first impressions impact relationships.
Gladwell argues that first impressions make an immediate impact on people, even if
they do not represent the entire person to inform his audience to avoid relying solely
on first impressions. He convinces the reader of this using personal anecdotes which
relate the subject to readers and structures the writing, expert opinions which lend
credibility to his argument, and utilizing an informal tone which engages the reader.
Gladwell weaves an anecdoteabout a Harvard computer science student named
Nolan Myers throughout the essay which help the reader relate to diverse topics
and creates structure throughout the essay. Gladwell describes Myers as being
handsome, charismatic, and easy going, however he cannot explain exactly why
he is so gripped with him (5). This description of both his physical appearance and
his personality relates the reader to Gladwell, and in turn, shapes the reader s
impression of Myers. The reader s first impression of Myers is critical to Gladwell
s argument because it makes the reader reflect on the fact that although he or she
has never met Nolan Myers, the reader already likes him. This vividly illustrates
the point that first impressions are impactful in relationships. These details also
allow Gladwell to transition into discussing other people s opinions of Myers. This
creates a smooth, easy to follow transition for the reader while hooking him or her
with a personal story as opposed to a more academic tone. Another way that
Gladwell utilizes the anecdote about Nolan Myers is to show how a first impression
then impacts the meaning of everything else that that person says. One example of
this is during Gladwell s interviewwith Myers. He says that he is not afraid of failure
because he is confident that with time, he can learn many things. Gladwell then
reflects that because he like Myers, the answer was confident. However, had he not
liked Myers already, the
Pit And The Pendulum Setting
The Pit and the Pendulum is a short story about a guy who is at trial before the
spanish inquisitors. He receives the death penalty for an unknown crime. He was
put in a cell in darkness where he discovered a, what seemed to be endless, pit. He
soon found himself strapped down on a wooden board with only head head and
left arm free. There was a pendulum descending down on him, waiting to take away
his life. Just before the pendulum was about to reach him, the walls caved in and
he was rescued by the French. Poe uses his settings to add to the suspense in each
of his scenes. The trial, cell, and pendulum scenes all have settings that supplement
the suspense. The story starts off with the trial scene. The narrator is being
sentenced to the death penalty. He says, While the angel forms became
meaningless spectres, with heads of flame and I saw that from them there would
be no help. Poe uses personification to describe the scene. This gives the details a
life like quality that adds to the suspense. The next scene is when he is thrown into
the cell. The cell is dark, society associate darkness with evil and suspect something
bad will happen. He begins trying the naviate the cell. He has no idea how big the
cell is or what is in it. This makes the reader feel nervous and on edge because of the
fear of the unknown. In the cell as he is... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

At the 90th Academy Awards, or simply the Oscars, the typical fanfares were

Lest I give spoilers, I would simply like to disclose that the movie merely follows a
basic romantic plot line, providing little effort to deviate from it. The film s plot
progression becomes sluggish between the two major plot points: The Shape of
Water s inability to maintain tension within its rising action makes the film feel, at
times, a bit slow and boring. Even when momentum does redevelop, the plot
becomes predictable and somewhat cheesy. The Shape of Water ends on a
lighthearted note to leave the viewer at ease knowing that love is beyond looks
and that all will be well. It feels good when a movie concludes with such certainty
yet to have a fairytale ending limits a film s ability to linger on in our minds. The
Shape of Water provides but a platitude and lacks any stimulus for discourse. Truly
great movies are the ones which leave the audience introspecting and pondering about
ourselves and the nature of our world; these movies spur discussion and oftentimes

The Impact Of Public Transport On Rural And
Sustainable...
4. Financial Analysis
4.1 Introduction
Today the role of public transport is perceived very seriously in terms of urban
mobility and sustainable development, but even though the financial resources
available are insufficient. Acquiring appropriate financing mechanisms is not only
imperative for the development of transport system but also for the holistic growth of
urban pockets.
The local government all over the world face financial constraints due to disparity
between costs and revenues. Many urban planners think that revenues cannot be
covered from fare box alone. Indian cities are also facing the same challenges. But
due to some funding through JnNURM the city officials find some relief in procuring
buses of high standards like present in developed countries.
There are two types of costs associated with transport system: one is capital cost and
other is operating cost. Capital cost constitutes of infrastructural support, procurement
of buses, and construction of bus stations. Whereas operating cost includes expenses
incurred in fuel, technological services, salaries to operators of buses, and upgrading
buses to better quality with time. Hence financial aspect takes a big role, because
without investment of money, a huge infrastructural project is not possible. Other
dilemma which urban planners face is setting correct fares in order to attract
maximum users and save the system to run into losses.
In this section of my case study, I focus upon the financial burden of

Pros and Cons under the 8th Amendment
1.
Introduction
The U.S. Constitutional Rights are laws that guarantee the basic rights for the
citizens. There are twenty seven Constitutional Amendments in total, but 10 of them
represent The Bill of Rights. The Bill of Rights ensures the basic individual
protections such as freedom of speech and religion. The Bill of Rights became part
of the Constitution in December 15, 1791 by George Mason.
In my opinion, the 8th amendment is important because this amendment gives people
the right against excessive bail, fines, or cruel and unusual punishment. No citizen of
the United States should be subjected to cruel or insane punishment, and they shouldn
t have to pay a bail amount that is too excessive for the crime. This Amendment was
added to the Bill of Rights to ensure greater stability and was a compromise between
the legislature election in the original non party elections and the new president. The
Amendment s Bail Clause is a result of injustices perpetrated in England, were judges
often abused their power in determining whether bail should be allowed to suspects.
After a number of unsuccessful attempts at reforming the law, the English Bill of
Rights in 1689 specifically outlawed excessive bail. The U.S. supreme court s held in
1987 that the eighth Amendment s Bail Clause had only one meaning that bail
conditions, when compared with the magnitude of

during the summer, Hungary had now become a land of opportunity for her.
Specifically, it was now a place where men traded sex for secrets; and where secret
agents pitted neighbor against neighbor, ferreting out those who held anti government
views. Seduction was the tool of choice and Ava learned she possessed some rather
heady physical assets that could help get that task done. Youthful enough to have the

Voter Turnout In The United States
Voter participation and turnout is the percentage of eligible voters that vote in
elections. The voter turnout has decreased since the 1960 s. In 2014, the voter
turnout during the election season was the lowest in the history of the United States.
That s about 36% of registered to vote individuals actually voted. Far behind the last
time we had the lowest turnout which was almost 40% in 1942. Presidential elections
tend to have a much higher voter participation. In 2012, 58% of registered voters cast
their ballot for president.
In the United States, campaign financing is financing for electoral campaigns at all
governmental levels (federal, state, and local). The cost for elections steadily rises
year after year, making candidates obligated to accept donations and contributions to
their campaign. States regulate finances and contributions made by setting limits to
how much can be received by a certain group or individual person. Another is
disclosure, which means they are required to report the amount of contributions
made. Lastly, public financing in elections; meaning that states manage expenses in

How Is Wordsworth Influenced By William Wordsworth

poetry and personality also were greatly influenced by his love for the nature,
especially by the spectacles and views of the Lake Country area, where he spent
most of his life in nature. Wordsworth is sincere thinker; he showed high tenderness
and a love of nature and simplicity. Two persons affected him personally and literary,
his sister Dorothy and the great romantic poet Samuel Taylor Coleridge. William

The Av Is An Accident Caused By An Av
There are a number of parties that could inherently be liable for an accident caused
by an AV, the potential parties include; the user, the owner of the AV, the
manufacturer of the AV, the manufacturer of the AV components or AV technology,
the AV code programmer, a government entity responsible for the intelligent
highway or perhaps even the AV itself by allowing AVs to be considered as legal
persons. There have also been arguments that the federal government should create
legislation preempting state tort remedies for AVs. Yet, due to the advanced
equipment inside AVs, it will be difficult to differentiate technological
malfunctions from AV technology with those of driver negligence at the outset of
mass AV use. In the foreseeable future when there will likely be no human driver
this will not be an issue. Instead, the difficult part will be determining which
manufacturer out of the many involved in the creation of the AV is at fault.
Present day procedures for identifying who is at fault may not be satisfactory when
the accident involves an AV. However, there is a potential solution to identifying
which vehicle or driver is at fault for an accident in the form of black boxes ( Flight
Data Recorders ), similar to the ones used on airplanes. Black boxes would monitor
driver activity and record data leading up to accidents. This would create a privacy
concern, but the collection of relevant information would tell investigators the story
of the cars operations and

Sir Francis Bacon And William Shakespeare
1 There are a variety of theories that suggest that Sir Francis Bacon was, in fact,
William Shakespeare. Supporters of these claims refer to Shakespeare s writing style,
lack of education, and reportedly hidden messages within his texts as some of the
evidence that indicates that Bacon was the real author of the many plays and poems
attributed to Shakespeare. However, these assertions do not conclusively substantiate
the Bacon theory and only attempt to discredit the real William Shakespeare.
Therefore, Sir Francis Bacon did not write as William Shakespeare. The first
theory of Sir Francis Bacon being the true author of Shakespeare came from the
author Delia Bacon no relation. Delia Bacon was a failed novelist and school
teacher. In the late 1850 s, she made the general public aware of the Bacon theory
through both an essay and book on the subject. Bacon claimed that a comparison of
Sir Francis Bacon s writings with those of Shakespeare proved that Bacon was the
true author, as she contended the writing styles were the same. As a result, she did
start the Baconian movement, which many people believe to be true. Her book,
The Philosophy of the Plays of Shakspere Unfolded, was written in 1857, and the
preface of the book was written by Nathanial Hawthorne. Hawthorne s preface never
gives support or validation to Bacon s findings. He ends his preface with the
following statement, It is for the public to say whether my countrywoman has proved

can increase your risk for depression such as Accutane an acne medication. Death
or a loss of someone that is close to you can also increase the risk for depression.
Genetics is another risk factor increasing the risks for developing depression, it is
not so much that there is one specific gene, but a little from several genes exerting
their effects combined can predispose a person to a higher risk of developing
depression. Conflict with family and friends is another factor that can cause
depression. Substance abuse is also quite a factor considering that 30% of the
people struggling with substance abuse are also suffering from depression.
Sometimes depression can go hand in hand with a serious medical illness,
according to WebMD or depression could just be triggered by a medical condition.
These are just a few of the causes of depression, but because all the causes have yet
to be discovered making it impossible to list every cause of depression. There are
many different symptoms associated with depression including feelings of
hopelessness and helpfulness. People experiencing depression, according to

Marine Biologist Research
As already mentioned in the previous paragraph, marine biology is basically the study
of organisms or creatures that live in the ocean or in saltwater environments. Though
the education of marine animals is a big part of marine biology, the study of their
habitats and ecological environments is another part of this job. While marine
biologists study the ocean and its inhabitants, they can learn many things about
humans and are able to find the cures to many diseases and sicknesses by studying
and extracting ocean plant life and conducting examinations of marine animals. An
experiment on sea urchin eggs determined how chemical substances can have an
influence on the growth of the embryo. (Sorrell 6) Drug companies are currently

(Sorrell 4) A college being near the coast would be an important factor in the ability
to be able to study and be one on one with many of the organisms and the
environment. Colleges close to North Carolina offering a degree in marine biology
include, the University of North Carolina at Wilmington, Coastal Carolina
University, University of South Carolina, and the College of Charleston. (Sorrell 1)
Classes vital in earning this degree consist of biology, chemistry, physics, calculus,
and computer to help with technical and electrical issues. (Sorrell 7) The minimum
education level to attend college for would be earning a bachelor s degree, but the
opportunity to make more money comes with more years of schooling, and many
marine biologists have Ph.D s (Sorrell
The Theme Of Death In Shute s On The Beach
Death is an idea that everyone must wrestle with at one point in their life, whether
it be a quickly approaching doom or a peaceful end sixty years down the line. In
Shute s On the Beach, each character s individual arch in the novel take separate
paths but are all headed towards the same place: death. In response to the extreme
scenario they are thrown into, that climax will come much sooner than any of them
intended and many are left wondering if they are ready to meet their end. What
each one of them decide to do along the way in order to make their lives end on a
positive note relates to how they choose to approach death. The theme deals with the
way they react to their death, and what each distinct reaction does for them whether it
be comfort, distraction, or enjoyment.
Being that no one can simply escape death, seeking comfort in it, or even
welcoming it is a tempting idea that many might juggle with when meeting their
end. Peter Holmes is a character in the novel with an ideal much in line with that
goal: finding comfort in his doom and accepting his death. However, that may only
be scraping the surface in relation to his true beliefs and motives. He knows a great
deal more about the impending threat than his wife Mary because she lives a life
sheltered from realities, living in a sentimental dream world of her own (Shute
127). He carefully tries to bring her to the same realization he had already accepted
and chooses his words selectively saying We re all going to get it. Every living
thing. Dogs and cats and babies everyone, (Shute 125). He even implies that their
infant daughter is involved. Peter, having been serving in the Australian Navy for
years, is a strong willed man able to face the truth and protect his family from it.
For that reason, he takes it upon himself to make it easier on them and attempts to
put a positive spin on the terrible truth. Simply put, he welcomes his and his family
s death in order to assure his wife that everything will be ok. Despite his love for
the sea and the relaxation it brings him, he asks Commander Towers Will the ship
be at sea for much of that time, sir? Things aren t too easy now, compared with what
they used to be, and it s a bit difficult at
Aqr s Momentum Funds (a) Essays
1. What is a momentum investment strategy? Momentum is the phenomenon that
stocks which have performed well in the past will continue to perform well in the
future, and that stocks which have performed poorly will continue to perform poorly.
Therefore a momentum investment strategy is to invest in short term portfolios that
have high returns in the past, and to short those with low returns over the same
period. 2. Analyze these portfolios. By analyzing monthly returns of all 10 portfolios
from 1927 2012 and 2000 2012, we can see that there is a general pattern that stocks
with higher momentum have higher return, which confirms the momentum strategy.
The average return of stocks with high minus low momentum is a little lower than that

One is that since the ten portfolios are grouped according to their performance,
portfolios are usually made up by similar stocks and thus cannot diversify the risks.
The other is that both skewness and kurtosis have effect on the risk a stock bears
and thus cause the pattern of variance. (Results are shown in Exhibit A) 3. Does
momentum work? In general, we could say that the momentum does work. To
justify whether it works, we first ran a regression on the Three Factor Fama
French Model (Market Excess Return, SMB and HML) from Jan 1972 to Dec
2012 respectively for the High , 5 , Low , and High Minus Low Portfolio. Then, we
added momentum into the model to create a four factor model (Momentum,
Market Excess Return, SMB and HML) for the same period on a monthly basis.
(See Exhibit 2). The absolute value of intercept (alpha) in the Three Factor Model
for Low Portfolio is 1.1159, 0.1347 for 5 Portfolio, 0.6354 for High Portfolio, and
1.4591 for High Minus Low Portfolio. They all are larger than those in the Four
Factor Model, given 0.2081 for Low Portfolio, 0.0961 for 5 Portfolio, 0.0412 for
High Portfolio, and 0.0402 for High Minus Low Portfolio. Therefore, alpha, a
measurement of deviation from the model, is much smaller in the Four Factor
Model than in the Three Factor Model. It shows that the Four Factor Model fits the
real situation better. In addition, we could see that R Square (percentage of data that
can be explained by the model) for the
Blue Crab Research Paper
The blue crab, Callinectes sapidus, is one of the most familiar inhabitants of
marshes and waterways along the Atlantic and GMx coasts of North America. The
abundance of blue crab larvae and juveniles make them important components of
the diets of numerous species of fish, invertebrate and avian predators (Van Engel
1987, Guillory and Elliot 2001). As juveniles and adults, blue crabs act as generalist
predators on benthic infauna and epifauna; consuming invertebrates, fish, and
crustaceans (including other blue crabs) as well as plant and detrital materials
(Darnell 1958, Alexander 1986, Meise and Stehlik 2003, Lipcius et al. 2007). It has
been proposed that blue crabs are keystone species in the marsh because of their
impact as predators
Chinese Medicine And China History And Eastern Culture
The Chinese medicine is related to china history and eastern culture. Every culture
has its own idea about creation of universe and human being. Chinese has a basic
theory for human creation that included the human s physiology and the human s
substance. The theory of five substances depends on five elements that related to all
physiologic activity of human. One of them is Qi. Qi term has a conflicted idea
between traditional Chinese medicineand western scientific sense that due to
misunderstand Chinese medicine turn and lack of word. However, People wonder
about qi what is qi? Where does qi come from or from where?
Qi pronounced as Chi, which means energy in Western translation. Qi is the energy of
the body, food, and universe, which ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In other word, qi is the life to different things. Qi is all physiologic activity of
universe that gave the movement and the life to everything. According to Wisman
Jing Yue s states that human life depends upon this qi. Also, when qi gathers, the
physical body is formed; when qi disperses, the body dies. Qi is form the human.
Qi gives a life to everything, and gives form for everything. According to Flam qi
congeals to make humans. Not only does the uniting of qi make form, it also
specifically makes the human form or body. (page, 99.) It is the soul of the body
that is giving in the first breath of human life. Also, Qi inherits from the parents,
which is the pre heaven qi that gets from parents. Kendall stated that Nejing is a
compilation of Chinese medicine concept and is still relevant today and provides
an amazing understanding of human body that is still accurate. Per heaven Qi is
not exactly DNA by its self in the western scientific sense of this word. It is the
thing that gives the DNA specific form, and the life. Qi gives the form to DNA
and the life for DNA. Also, qi can be the idea that came from the qi can able to
engender the blood and blood mothers of qi, which has the same idea of the pre
heavens and DNA.
However, Qi is not just DNA or per heaven qi. As I mentioned before that qi is all the
physiological functions and all movement of the phenomenal in universe. Therefore,

Effect Of Peer Pressure On Youth Essay
Youth today face many challenges throughout their early years. The face them not
only at school but also at home. Some kids are stronger than others and can candle
the added stress, while others collapse under the pressure. The added stress can come
from many factors, but three common causes are peer pressure, academics, and
sports. Growing up in a cruel world is not easy on anyone, but it is extra hard for
the young kids today. They face many challenges trying to find a spot where they
belong. Not all kids are born leaders, so they tend to follow. Therefore, followers
tend to be the ones who struggle with the peer pressure the most. They wantto fit in or
belong to a certain group and will do exactly what others want them to do to get
there. Peer pressure is the beginning to the end sometimes. It opens the door to
other things, such as drinking or even fighting. Both drinking and fighting come
with consequences that adds to the stress. People can influence you at school,
home, and even work. Peer pressure is not always negative, but depends on the
crowd they choose to hang with. Both positive and negative peer pressure is a lot
on youth and can cause stress that leads to other things later in life. As a result of
peer pressure, they often let their academics fall short of the goals and expectations
that they once had. While attending school, young kids are expected to keep a
certain grade point average in order to pass. Some kids are born book smart,
The Woman Warrior, By Maxine Kingston Essay
Maxine Kingston, a famous writer whose work is often rooted in her experience as a
first generation Chinese American, wrote pieces that often shed light on how first
generation Americans have figured out how the invisible world the emigrants built
around [their] childhoods fit in solid America (para. 10). In her memoir The Woman
Warrior, the first chapter No Name Woman involves a cautionary tale meant to
discourage young Kingston from engaging in adultery and humiliating the family; the
mother hopes the fear of being forgotten will serve as a deterrent for sexual lewdness.
The chapter dramatizes the cultural differences between Chinaand the United States,
particularly the narrator s internal conflict of identifying what is Chinese tradition
and what is the movies (par.12). Through the mother s initial tale and the narrator s
manifestation of her aunt s life, Kingston creates some sort of dialogue between
China and the United States. Moreover, Kingston employs the story of the dead aunt
to navigate between the contrasting regions by highlighting the differences in
traditions, customs, and the idea of femininity. The narrator was very inquisitive
about the details of the aunt, however, her mother told her once and for all the useful
parts, which left much to the narrator s imagination. Since the narrator is allotted the
opportunity to recreate her aunt s life, some aspects involved Chinese traditions while
some touched on the narrator s experience in America. To

Great Depression Writing Project
On October 29, 1929 an invention that so many people s lives and saving crashed.
The stock market. William Foshay never expected it to take effect when he created
such a reality, but with this crash, it ruined lives. People were homeless. Foodless.
Moneyless. Jobless. With such troubled times, it certainly did bring out the best and
the worst in people. There aren t as many people to tell their stories anymore. But
we can tell them from remembrance of them. Here s a story of people who did
obtain the best and the worst lives, and everyone in betwixt.
The Great Depression placed people in a endless list of good and bad positions.

For example, my Grandfather James lived a tolerable life until the Great
Depression. James s mother died, leaving a father to take care of a massive family
of nine boys and two girls. His father couldn t afford to take care of them, so he
took his two eldest sons and sent the rest of the kids to adoption programs. Luckily,
James and one of his sisters were adopted together, but the rest went to other
places. My dad saw a few of my grandpa s siblings throughout the years, but saw his
adopted sister the most. The only one he never met was his eldest brother, because
he moved to California after his father died, and shortly after the other eldest
brother also moved to California. Also, in No Promises in the Wind, Josh and Joey
were separated many times. They were separated with Howie after being killed,
their mother and father, and even each other. Even though they go to see each other
again eventually. Howie was never seen again. I lost Joey. I lost the only one
keeping me going. I lost my brother. Josh said to Lonnie

  • 2. Manufacturing Output Rises in the Us An economic revival is here according to an article in The Atlantic titled America s Coming Manufacturing Revolution . In the author s own words, The combination of lower energy prices, innovative information technologies, and advances in robotics and materials science are powering a manufacturing revolution that will reinvigorate the U.S. economy, (NaГm, Apr. 21, 2014). Bold words considering the recent financial crisis and drama in the geopolitical arena, but is there enough evidence to back his claims of this so called manufacturing revolution ? Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Federal Reserve Bank assessed potential being used at factories, mines and utilities in the U.S. reached 79.2 percent in March . Comparatively, the national average from 1980 until now is 79.4 percent (Chandra, Apr. 20, 2014). According to an article in Reuters, this is the highest capacity utilization since June 2008. (Nawaguna, Apr. 16, 2014) Incidentally, as resources are used more efficiently, manufacturing output will increase. Higher labor costs and allocation of factory space are excellent indications that manufacturing output has indeed gone up within the United States. However, I would not consider it a revolution by any means because most of the data suggests this is only a gradual upward trend and hasn t changed any aspects of business. Although, if this upward trend continues, we can expect more job openings, greater use of factory space, and more made in the US products floating up around the markets of the world. Luckily, accountants aren t paid to forecast so my essay ends here. A Research Study On Health Care Evidenced based research is defined as continually using current best evidence based research when decisions have to be made about the patients care or health care (Melnyk, Fineout Overholt, 2005). There is a clinical/medical question that needs to be looked into. The question is researched by searching for information on that question paying close attention to the important reviews and evaluations of the information given (Melnyk, Fineout Overholt, 2005). This requires that you review more than one study in order to get reliable and more dependable results which can lead to a better understanding of the research question (Melnyk, Fineout Overholt, 2005). One example of evidenced based research: A health care professional suggests that a patient who has recently had stomach bleeding take acetaminophen to treat his arthritis pain. The health care professional has done research on this and research has shown that acetaminophen has less risk for stomach bleeds than most of the other regular pain relievers (Ahrq.gov, n. d.). The health professional has performed evidenced based research. All health care providers who utilize evidence based practice uses research evidence, clinical expertise and patient preferences which make up the components of evidenced based research. It may also be beneficial to use the systematic reviews which are the summary of the research results that will give information helps with the evidence based practice process (Ahrq.gov, n. d.). The

Before entering high school, I desired life as a chemist, working in laboratories or among nature to discern its secrets. After the events of 9/11/2001, watching aircraft strike our people and realizing a plane crashed in Shanksville, PA, less than two hours away from my home, I knew my future would drive me to serve. I continued my fervent interest in STEM fields, but I sought a way to apply that ambition towards public service as a member of the Armed Forces. They are not used to having to share everything; therefore they act as if they are the Alfa male to the new arrival, which also explains the previously stated dominant trait that domino effects them into the role of the mentor. One thing is for sure about eldest children: They are nothing like middle born children. Middle children are dubbed as the outgoing, friendly, and loud sibling. • 17. Chaarismatic Writing Style Of The New Boy Network By... Analysis of The New Boy Network The New Boy Network is an example of author Malcolm Gladwell s charismatic writing style which makes seemingly drab subjects vividly interesting to a wide variety of readers. In this essay, he explores the complex nature of job interviews and how first impressions impact relationships. Gladwell argues that first impressions make an immediate impact on people, even if they do not represent the entire person to inform his audience to avoid relying solely on first impressions. He convinces the reader of this using personal anecdotes which relate the subject to readers and structures the writing, expert opinions which lend credibility to his argument, and utilizing an informal tone which engages the reader. Gladwell weaves an anecdoteabout a Harvard computer science student named Nolan Myers throughout the essay which help the reader relate to diverse topics and creates structure throughout the essay. Gladwell describes Myers as being handsome, charismatic, and easy going, however he cannot explain exactly why he is so gripped with him (5). This description of both his physical appearance and his personality relates the reader to Gladwell, and in turn, shapes the reader s impression of Myers. The reader s first impression of Myers is critical to Gladwell s argument because it makes the reader reflect on the fact that although he or she has never met Nolan Myers, the reader already likes him. This vividly illustrates the point that first impressions are impactful in relationships. These details also allow Gladwell to transition into discussing other people s opinions of Myers. This creates a smooth, easy to follow transition for the reader while hooking him or her with a personal story as opposed to a more academic tone. Another way that Gladwell utilizes the anecdote about Nolan Myers is to show how a first impression then impacts the meaning of everything else that that person says. One example of this is during Gladwell s interviewwith Myers. He says that he is not afraid of failure because he is confident that with time, he can learn many things. Gladwell then reflects that because he like Myers, the answer was confident. However, had he not liked Myers already, the

Acquiring appropriate financing mechanisms is not only imperative for the development of transport system but also for the holistic growth of urban pockets. The local government all over the world face financial constraints due to disparity between costs and revenues. Many urban planners think that revenues cannot be covered from fare box alone. Indian cities are also facing the same challenges. But due to some funding through JnNURM the city officials find some relief in procuring buses of high standards like present in developed countries. There are two types of costs associated with transport system: one is capital cost and other is operating cost. Capital cost constitutes of infrastructural support, procurement of buses, and construction of bus stations. Whereas operating cost includes expenses incurred in fuel, technological services, salaries to operators of buses, and upgrading buses to better quality with time. Hence financial aspect takes a big role, because without investment of money, a huge infrastructural project is not possible. • 24. Pros And Cons Under The 8th Amendment Essay Ismael Bernal Ms. Moreh Contemporary Composition, Period 4 6, May 2016 Pros and Cons under the 8th Amendment 1. Introduction The U.S. Constitutional Rights are laws that guarantee the basic rights for the citizens. There are twenty seven Constitutional Amendments in total, but 10 of them represent The Bill of Rights. The Bill of Rights ensures the basic individual protections such as freedom of speech and religion. The Bill of Rights became part of the Constitution in December 15, 1791 by George Mason. In my opinion, the 8th amendment is important because this amendment gives people the right against excessive bail, fines, or cruel and unusual punishment. No citizen of the United States should be subjected to cruel or insane punishment, and they shouldn t have to pay a bail amount that is too excessive for the crime. This Amendment was added to the Bill of Rights to ensure greater stability and was a compromise between the legislature election in the original non party elections and the new president. The Amendment s Bail Clause is a result of injustices perpetrated in England, were judges often abused their power in determining whether bail should be allowed to suspects. After a number of unsuccessful attempts at reforming the law, the English Bill of Rights in 1689 specifically outlawed excessive bail. The U.S. supreme court s held in 1987 that the eighth Amendment s Bail Clause had only one meaning that bail conditions, when compared with the magnitude of

Supporters of these claims refer to Shakespeare s writing style, lack of education, and reportedly hidden messages within his texts as some of the evidence that indicates that Bacon was the real author of the many plays and poems attributed to Shakespeare. However, these assertions do not conclusively substantiate the Bacon theory and only attempt to discredit the real William Shakespeare. Therefore, Sir Francis Bacon did not write as William Shakespeare. The first theory of Sir Francis Bacon being the true author of Shakespeare came from the author Delia Bacon no relation. Delia Bacon was a failed novelist and school teacher. In the late 1850 s, she made the general public aware of the Bacon theory through both an essay and book on the subject. Bacon claimed that a comparison of Sir Francis Bacon s writings with those of Shakespeare proved that Bacon was the true author, as she contended the writing styles were the same. As a result, she did start the Baconian movement, which many people believe to be true. Her book, The Philosophy of the Plays of Shakspere Unfolded, was written in 1857, and the preface of the book was written by Nathanial Hawthorne. Hawthorne s preface never gives support or validation to Bacon s findings. He ends his preface with the following statement, It is for the public to say whether my countrywoman has proved her theory. • 41. The Theme Of Death In Shute s On The Beach Death is an idea that everyone must wrestle with at one point in their life, whether it be a quickly approaching doom or a peaceful end sixty years down the line. In Shute s On the Beach, each character s individual arch in the novel take separate paths but are all headed towards the same place: death. In response to the extreme scenario they are thrown into, that climax will come much sooner than any of them intended and many are left wondering if they are ready to meet their end. What each one of them decide to do along the way in order to make their lives end on a positive note relates to how they choose to approach death. The theme deals with the way they react to their death, and what each distinct reaction does for them whether it be comfort, distraction, or enjoyment. Being that no one can simply escape death, seeking comfort in it, or even welcoming it is a tempting idea that many might juggle with when meeting their end. Peter Holmes is a character in the novel with an ideal much in line with that goal: finding comfort in his doom and accepting his death. However, that may only be scraping the surface in relation to his true beliefs and motives. He knows a great deal more about the impending threat than his wife Mary because she lives a life sheltered from realities, living in a sentimental dream world of her own (Shute 127). • 42. Aqr s Momentum Funds (a) Essays 1. What is a momentum investment strategy? Momentum is the phenomenon that stocks which have performed well in the past will continue to perform well in the future, and that stocks which have performed poorly will continue to perform poorly. Therefore a momentum investment strategy is to invest in short term portfolios that have high returns in the past, and to short those with low returns over the same period. 2. Analyze these portfolios. By analyzing monthly returns of all 10 portfolios from 1927 2012 and 2000 2012, we can see that there is a general pattern that stocks with higher momentum have higher return, which confirms the momentum strategy. The average return of stocks with high minus low momentum is a little lower than that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One is that since the ten portfolios are grouped according to their performance, portfolios are usually made up by similar stocks and thus cannot diversify the risks. The other is that both skewness and kurtosis have effect on the risk a stock bears and thus cause the pattern of variance. (Results are shown in Exhibit A) 3. Does momentum work? In general, we could say that the momentum does work. To justify whether it works, we first ran a regression on the Three Factor Fama French Model (Market Excess Return, SMB and HML) from Jan 1972 to Dec 2012 respectively for the High , 5 , Low , and High Minus Low Portfolio. Then, we added momentum into the model to create a four factor model (Momentum, Market Excess Return, SMB and HML) for the same period on a monthly basis. (See Exhibit 2). The absolute value of intercept (alpha) in the Three Factor Model for Low Portfolio is 1.1159, 0.1347 for 5 Portfolio, 0.6354 for High Portfolio, and 1.4591 for High Minus Low Portfolio. They all are larger than those in the Four Factor Model, given 0.2081 for Low Portfolio, 0.0961 for 5 Portfolio, 0.0412 for High Portfolio, and 0.0402 for High Minus Low Portfolio. Therefore, alpha, a measurement of deviation from the model, is much smaller in the Four Factor Model than in the Three Factor Model. It shows that the Four Factor Model fits the real situation better. In addition, we could see that R Square (percentage of data that can be explained by the model) for the
