Newsletter of Udaipur Chamber of Commerce and Industry. UCCI is an apex body of trade and industry in south Rajasthan. We are proud to present the Business Newsletter for the period of March 2021 to May 2021.
3. With great delight, I welcome the readers to a vibrant UCCI
playing dynamic roles in challenging times.
We embarked on the journey on 5th Nov'20 with ideology of
“Together We Can” with first Executive Committee Meeting on
7thNov'20 itself. We've all heard the plethora of words used to
describe the Pandemic period as unprecedented, critical,
challenging, tough times and so on.
Friends, it's time to introspect and take stock of the activities,
initiatives and outcomes taken up during this short span of
about seven months towards furtherance of the cause of the
Chamber. Some of the significant achievements of the
Chamber have been circulated to you from time to time and
published in the business news letter. Meanwhile, allow me to
mention some of the developments that took place over this
quarter:
It has been a tenure to competing in terms of challenges and I
am indeed happy to share that Team UCCI did all to adapt in
order to meet the requirements of members, non-members, government& health departments. We
endeavoured to face difficult times favourably by finding opportunity in every difficulty encountered. It
would be easy to see the impact of this rewarding tenure very much as positive. We have progressed,
adapted and enriched our offerings and I look forward to see a continued growth in the coming years as
UCCI initiated varied projects & thought of giving a new dimension to member organization and work for
developments in Southern Rajasthan.
The project of Mewar Harmony Vocational Training Centre has been fully equipped & furnished and was
on verge of taking-off in association with Techno NJR, the 2nd Wave of Pandemic struck. Skill
development & training has always been part of UCCI's service to members & conducting development
programmes with support from the government & specialized organizations round the year is now an
ongoing activity to deliver on the curricula, which is skimmed out of various inputs received from Industry
and academia interactions.
MSME Center for Emerging Leaders in association with IIM, Udaipur : A sought after need to grow the
MSME i.e. Small to Medium & Medium to Large, wherein the mentors will be from Industry to look after
the practical aspects of handling varied needs of the business and IIMU-IC will look into the Academic,
project initiating part and outsource need based mentors.
Rooftop project of 5000 sq.ft on 2nd Floor: A unique support facility to host activities in almost Open
Environment, Industrialist's meeting point on the concept of “DEVANIA” in Gulf, covered area for serving
meals, etc. is being developed with roofing done and rest needs to be completed as per designs being
finalized.
Environment Park Landscaping & Developments : To establish an environment related NABLaccredited
testing lab with facility also to train and conduct awareness programme is the need of the hour. UCCI's
involvement in Hazardous Wate Management is in operation under Tri-partite agreement with Ramky
Enviro, UIWM& RC Trust. The Trust undertook initial work of leveling & filling to make almost 50% of
waste land usable for developments. The proposals for Lab &Environment Park landscaping have also
been initiated.
Audio visual facilities in all the Meeting Halls & Auditorium : Hybrid working is the demand of time and to
keep the activities continue, we have installed AV facility in the Meeting Hall. Further, initiated proposals
ofAV facilities for the PPSinghal Auditorium &PyrotechTempsens Hall to be online meeting ready.

4. Paver blocks flooring of Parking Area: A proper parking area with censers & light management has
been initiated.
Setting up of Common Effluent Treatment Plant–CETP: We already have Hazardous Waste Treatment
& Disposal facility operational since 2006 and further expansion is under way. Our initiative to have a
CETP to ease the Chemical Industries around is welcomed. RIICO has already reserved land for this
facility in Kaladwas Industrial Area but considering the spread of industries, need of transportation of
effluent by tankers has to be permitted by Rajasthan State Pollution Control Board for which a request
has been made while a feasibility study is being done jointly with Ramky.
With the active support from Team UCCI, Government and Industries Departments, all the projects
were marching towards maturity at a great pace but in March-April'21, the 2nd wave of Covid-19
compelled us with changed motives.Although the Industries are running, the prudent need changed to
oxygen production& supply, helping Hospitals&Administration in Urban and Rural areas.
With wholehearted support and collective vision of members, guided suitably by our legends & others,
we immediately embarked on providing Oxygen Concentrators Machines to District Administration,
Govt. Hospitals, ESIC and Rural PHCs, Police Line Hospital, etc. They were put to use the moment
machines were supplied catering to the emergency of such kind saving lives of many. Our members set
up Oxygen Plants&Oxygen Quality Testing Labs, gave oxygen cylinders from their Industries by
substantially reducing own production, etc.
Another important aspect of keeping safe is having vaccinated. The initial response was low in
Industrial areas& we emerged as the spokespersons of '100% Vaccination'. Conducted two camps for
5 days and vaccinated about 800 of 45years & above. We contacted the state government for allowing
the UCCI premises & infrastructure to be a regular vaccination center. The motivation of 100%
vaccination is now so high that the member Industries having large number of employees are even
willing to pay for ensuring safety of the employees & their families.
Blood shortage and plasma need emerged as another area of scarcity and we marched ahead for this
by initiating Blood and Plasma Donation Camps at UCCI and member industries.
Let me also share that Constitutional Amendments Sub-Committees under Chairmanship of Patron
Shri Arvind Singhal and Co-Chairman PP Shri Virendra Siroya; Excellence Award Sub-Committees
under Chairmanship of PP Shri C P Talesra and Co-Chairman PP Vinod Kumat also tirelessly worked
with the team, members & secretariat staff however; due to restrictions imposed by the state
government in mid-April, the process in its finality is on hold as both the assignments require physical
meetings& interactions and thus, the same would be taken up no sooner the situation permits.
UCCI today is ready for the emerging paradigms. As somebody has said, we can't have better
tomorrow if we are still thinking about yesterday. A small lien of few weeks will witness all wheels
rolling!!Networking & learning events will be on in the calendar again and I am confident that Tem UCCI
will rock even in changeling times !!
I find the following lines by Sahitya Akademi Award winning Hindi poet Dr. Shiv Mangal Singh Suman,
quite apt, which also summarises my entire exciting experience

5. Editorial
It's an open secret that traditional business membership
organizations have relevance in the 21st Century by sharing
knowledge and helping members to cop up with economy &
remain united on facing common challenges. The Covid-19
pandemic is creating additional challenge and is disrupting the
industry mechanism. Major of them being the safety of
manpower & to maintain demand so that the machines keep
going. UCCI sees this as a duty to serve and represent the
business community in this hour of greatest need and drive the
economic recovery that is so critical to a prosperous decade to
come. We are committed to support all to face such times,
where businesses are looking for leadership to navigate the
crisis and emerge intact and even stronger soon
“UCCI is all set to retool the programs, products, and
services that we offer, with a focus on delivering
immediate value. “Not just an aid to the industry, but to
society as a whole”
“UCCI MAKING THE DIFFERENCE”
The representational function of Udaipur Chamber of Commerce and Industry is getting important, as
we carry the voice of the private sector and are the primary champions of our members' interests in a
democracy. In the COVID-19 era, we have decided to aggressively work on surrounding pandemic
response and recovery. Our initiatives to push 100% vaccination drive, supporting Hospitals & Govt. by
Oxygen supply (through members supporting on oxygen concentrators, by dedicated testing labs and
by installing oxygen plants & by transporting it). Global vaccination is essential to end the pandemic.
With a mission is to ensure vaccination for all, UCCI successfully organized two successful Vaccination
Camps that helped more than 700 people get vaccination against the Corona Virus.
Governments also need input of the business community to strike the right balance between
appropriate restrictions to protect public health to give imperative thrust to economic activity which
underpins sustainable livelihoods. UCCI has words of gratitude for Govt. in allowing Industries to continue
working while in “Jan Anushashan Pakhwada”, yet the Industry to produce & bring it to market need
customers (supply chain) also to keep the clock on. Our initiatives to raise relaxations on complete cycles
willalsobearfruitssoon.
Traditional modes of communication simply aren't adequate to effectively engage an organization's
stakeholders, internal or external. Businesses are looking for trusted sources of information and
analysis and herein lay another need of an association to create value by convening meetings and
events. Identifying sustainable sources of revenue tied to a new strategy, we apprise the members
about IT infrastructure, revamped communications with new channels to reach customers remotely.
Here takes off an incubation and mentor ship program for MSMEs.
During these times, we have to come together because “Together we can” A strong belief of UCCI
president Sh. Komal Kothari.

All members of UCCI face issues of not getting properly trained manpower despite Udaipur
being an Educational Hub. Therefore, to train and up skill graduates and to provide them
required skills and place them successfully in member organization has made us take forward
the project with strong agenda in mind to accomplish the following :
Watering the Roots:The fundamental change required is to revisit incumbent curricula.
Rise to the Occasion: Vocational training is a must take to get a completely new set of results.
Industry has to play a big role for this to happen.
Amust for Students: It is all about being well equipped with skills and grabbing the opportunity.
“MSME Centre for Emerging Leaders”

should not be closed in view of the economic situation, this will lead to migration of people,
which will be very difficult to control. It should also be seen from the point of view of economy
when taking strict decisions. Judging by the market too, a decision has to be made.
During the video conference, the efforts by the district administration to prevent corona virus

augmenting Oxygen supply to hospitals, 1000 cylinders per day will be made available from
member unit Hindustan Zinc Limited (HZL) plants.
President Shri Komal Kothari informed that full support is being provided to the administration
by the members of UCCI in arranging the supply of essential Oxygen for the treatment of
corona infected persons.
Gathering information regarding the supply of Oxygen, it was known that 5000 liters of liquid
Oxygen could be produced daily for industrial use by the plant located at Dariba plant of HZL a
member organization of UCCI. When discussed about this, Shri RajendraAgarwal, Unit Head,
Hindustan Zinc and Shri Gopi of Oxygen Plant, accepted to provide Oxygen to administration
14
17. produced by the plant at Dariba.
But according to the rules of the Indian Pharmacopoeia Commission, any medicine or device
can be used before being declared suitable in its report after investigation by a laboratory
approved by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India. It may be noted
that the state lacks a Drug Testing Organization-accredited Drugs Testing Laboratory capable
of conducting medical Oxygen tests.
On gathering this information, it was known that Macsen Drugs, a member organization of the
UCCI, is accredited with the Drug Control Organization of the Government, but some
necessary equipment needs to be collected to check the quality of Oxygen for human use.
In this regard, Assistant Drug Controller Shri Lalit Azaria was instructed by the district
administration. In order to raise test equipment within the stipulated time, UCCI arranged with
the help of Indigo Airlines Shri Devesh Mishra to ship all the necessary equipment from
Mumbai by plane.
Oxygen produced by Hindustan Zinc Dariba Mines was found suitable for human use after
testing with the help of testing equipment in the laboratory of Macsen Drugs. Investigation
report by Shri Achal Agarwal, Director, was presented to District Collector Shri Chetan Deora
within two days on Monday.
On the basis of the said report, District Collector Shri Chetan Deora, immediately taking a
decision, formed a committee comprising hospital principals, drug controllers, medical jurists
and other doctors. The meeting of the said committee lasted till late night on Monday in which
consent was given to formulate a strategy by giving approval for the use of liquid Oxygen
produced by Hindustan Zinc Dariba plant for medical use. In view of the emergency, a
provision has been made by the district administration to provide cryogenic container for this
immediately.
President Shri Komal Kothari informed that on average, 1000 cylinders per day will be
available to the hospital administration due to the use of liquid Oxygen by the Hindustan Zinc
Dariba plant for medical use. Further, with all the necessary equipment available for
examination, Macsen Drugs, a member unit of UCCI, has become the first such drug testing
laboratory in the state to be able to conduct all tests of medical Oxygen.
