Kober Khadr Case Study
On July 27, 2002 a fifteen year old Canadian citizen Omar Khadr was captured by US forces in
Afghanistan. Khadr was captured for the murder of unarmed medic Christopher Speer. The US
had held Khadr for a period of ten years (from 2002 2012). During this time, Canada did not fulfill
its obligation to protect Omar Khadr and his rights. Canadafailed to protect Khadr and his rights
during three instances: Firstly, during the rough interrogation that involved various types of torture
Canada did not speak up for Khadr nor did they fight for his rights. Secondly, Canada did not
request for the right of Extradition when Khadr was captured, instead letting the US hold him for
ten years. Lastly, Canada assisted the unfair prosecution of Khadr while... Show more content on

When terrorists from other countries such as Britain and Australia were captured the countries
put pressure on the US to release extradite the prisoners back to their home countries. Canada had
not asked nor demanded for this, it seems as though Canada was supporting the US s treatment
of Khadr. Canada had to take back Khadr once it was publicized that he was being tortured
almost every day. In addition to this, Prime Minister Stephen Harper had confidence that the US
military would try Khadr in a fair manner, but obviously he was wrong as Khadr was forced to
sign an unfair plea that would basically force him into Canada. Dennis Edney Khadr s former
lawyer states He has fought for close to eight years to get a pair of protective glasses to preserve
the amount of sight remaining in Omar s one eye with vision. He received them in November of
last year. That is the extent of the help Omar has received from the Canadian government, they
can t even get him a pair of glasses. (Edney 5). Khadr was going blind in Guantanamo and
requested a pair of glasses for eight years. Canada did not comply and didn t even speak to
Guantanamo about getting Khadr glasses; instead, they let the US treat the Canadian citizen very
harshly and not even provide him with a pair of glasses. Canada did not care about Khadr instead
they just let the US deal with him unfairly. Canada should have been more involved in the treatment
of Khadr and should not have supported the US while they were violating Khadr. Unlike the other
countries such Britain and Australia Canada did not pressure the US to extradite Khadr. In addition
to this, they stood by the US s strong torture methods due to the fact that Canada did not speak up
when Khadr was sent to Guantanamo, even though Guantanamo was famous for torturing its
prisoners.

The Decision Tree Method For Intrusion Detection System
Abstract
There are many risks in using the internet irrespective of its popularity. These risks are network
attack, and attack method which vary every day. This research is aim to compare decision tree
method for intrusion detection. As intrusion detection is one of the major research problem in
network security. Tradition intrusion detection systemcontain a number of problems, such as low
performance, high false negative rate, low intelligent level. In this research work we compared
effectiveness of decision tree method in Intrusion Detection System. We also compare the detection
rate, false alarm rate for different types of attack.
1.0Background
Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS) are software or hardware designed to automatically monitor
activities within a network of computers and identify any security issues . IDS have been around
for at least 30 years since increased enterprise network access produced a new challenge, the need
for user access and monitoring. As day to day operations grew increasingly dependent upon shared
use of information systems, levels of access to these systems and clear visibility into user activity
was required to operate safely and securely.
Many of the initial headway on IDS was made within the U.S. Air Force. In 1980, James P.
Anderson, an innovator of information security and member of the Defense Science Board Task
Force on Computer Security at the U.S. Air Force, produced Computer Security Threat Monitoring

Theme Of Stockings In Death Of A Salesman
Those Damned Stockings!
You didn t love her. You just didn t want to be alone. Or maybe, maybe she was good for your
ego...but you didn t love her. Because you don t destroy people you love
Grey s Anatomy
In Arthur Miller s Death of a Salesman, Miller uses many objects and events to represent bigger
ideas and themes to help ground the story and make it less confusing. Many of these objects could
represent multiple ideas within the story, and it is up to the reader to interpret what they believe
the objects represent. One such object is stockings. Miller uses Linda s stockings to represent her
love for Willy and how it is ripped and torn but mended just like fragile silk stockings. There is the
odd resistance Willy shows to her ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
WILLY: I have no stockings here!
THE WOMAN: You had two boxes of size nine sheers for me, and I want them! WILLY: Here, for
God s sake, will you get outa here!
THE WOMAN (enters holding a box of stockings) (Miller (FIND PAGE NUMBER)
The Woman wants Willy to show that he is willing to ignore Linda s care in order to be with her.
Miller represents this through the stockings. He gives the Woman countless of Linda s stockings,
and in that abandons Linda for another woman. He later regrets this and wants to deny it happened
and pretend he did nothing wrong. However he cannot change the fact that their relationship was
damaged because of his actions and he cannot take back what he did to Linda.
Linda is often seen repairing her expensive, silk stockings whenever there is something damaging
to their relationship hinted at or when she has a fight with Willy. One such example is after the
long scene with Willy s mistress:
And thanks for the stockings. I love a lot of stockings...
(The Woman bursts out laughing, and Linda s laughter blends in. The Woman disappears into the
dark. Now the area at the kitchen table brightens. Linda is sitting where she was at the kitchen
table, but now is mending a pair of her silk stockings.) LINDA: You are, Willy. The handsomest
man. You ve got no reason to feel that... WILLY (corning out of The Woman s dimming area and
going over to Linda):

Carson The Count Of Wolves Character Analysis
The Past Unfolded to Reveal the Future It takes learning from life experiences for someone to
grow up and for someone to find who he or she is. Carson stands up for what he believes in and
does not get distracted by other people s opinions. He is confident in his own choices and is able
to differentiate between right and wrong. Feelings and emotions always play with someone s state
of being, but with Carson, he holds them back. Through the support of his friends and their
relationships, he makes those feelings become more visible.Values and morals are two things
many stand by, but for Carson trust is a big thing for him. Meyer portrays him as an honorable
person, and someone who always tries to see the best in belittling situations. Through the tough
struggles Carson faces, he becomes resilient and takes his pains from his past to shape him into
becoming who he is.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Carson is straightforward in his answers because he believes that his own option and beliefs are
more important than others. Determination drives Carson, on the fact that only he can control
his life, and he is able to determine what counts in life. Meyers portrays Carson in this way to
show that he stands by his opinions no matter how harsh it comes off, to other people; I don t
want a win the lottery. I want a ranch. Far as I , concerned, this ain t somethin we oughta even
think about (Meyers 309). Through using this quote, Meyers is able to show the significance of
the entitlement Carson develops along the way. To an independent and firm holder, Carson
develops a way of not only speaking for himself, but by the way he talks to other people. Carson
is focused on seeing only one way to solve a problem. Through setting his mind on one thing,
Carson is able to believe in himself and for him to

Essay On John Locke s Rejection Of Innate Ideas
How Successful is John Locke s Rejection of Innate Ideas?
The theory of innate knowledge states that some knowledge is part of the mind from birth and
therefore we are not born with a blank slate . This means that innate knowledge can only ever be a
priori and not a posteriori. A priori is knowledge that only be gained through reason and a posteriori
is knowledge which can only be gained through sense experience. Innatism assumes that the
knowledge we acquire is not only gained through experience and the senses.
John Locke is an empirical philosopher who argues against the theory of innate knowledge. He
attempts to answer questions such as how we think and perceive. He believes that directly justified
beliefs can only come from experience. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If we break down the statement it would look like this:
Premise 1 I think
Premise 2 Thinking things exist
Conclusion Therefore, I exist
David Hume, an empiricist argues against this questionable hidden premise. He states that just
because something possesses the ability to think, does not imply that it actually exists. He argues
that we have no right to assume this. This makes Descartes example of innate ideas false and
therefore means Descartes cannot prove the existence of knowledge. In Descartes third meditation,
there is a thought experiment called the wax example. He uses this to show what he believes to be
innate. According to Descartes, our minds are already stocked with many intellectual concepts
innate ideas. These concepts consist of mathematics, logic and metaphysics. Descartes states that
even our sensory ideas hold some form of innateness. He believes that bodies have no properties
with resemble our sensory ideas such as colour, texture, sounds etc. This implies that the content of
these ideas must come from the mind itself. One problem with this formulation is if these sensory
ideas are innate then how do we characterise innateness? These sensory ideas depend upon sensory

Infidelity And Relationships
To gain more insight on how social media can cause infidelity in relationships, I searched social
media impact on relationships and an article, written in the summer of 2015, by Lori Ann Wagner,
and published by the Journal of Individual Psychology caught my eye. Wagner s article, When
Your Smartphone Is Too Smart for Your Own Good: How Social Media
Alters Human Relationships
argues that mediated communicationis changing the way that humans interact with each other.
Wagner states that humans desire social connections and the easiest way to meet those needs are
through social media. Humans use their five senses touch, taste, see, hear, and smell to really
understand their environment around them. Social media interferes with our... Show more content

I completely agree with that statement. When one is put in the same shoes as another, they can see
and feel the same emotions that the other portrays. Empathy is important because it bonds the
human connections. Another major point of Wagner s article was that social media can cause less
honest relationships. This is another statement that I found to be true. It is so easy to lie and scam
over the internet because anyone can take the identity of everyone since mediated communication
can block our full understanding of the environment. To debate with her statements, the reason why
People today generally prefer mediated communication rather than personal interaction... (Wagner
116) is because communication between this generation is very different from the past generations
who have not grown up with this much technology or social media. In other words, it is much more
simple to have little conversations over technology than to meet face to face every time someone
has to say something. Also, I believe that social media allows a broader spectrum for
communicating with family and loved ones. Wagner also thinks that obsessions with texting,
updating statuses, and using Snapchat are sounding a death knell for real conversation (Wagner

The Skin Of Reptiles Are Most Affected By Global Warming
The skin of amphibians is tremendously thin, as a result of this frogs are extremely sensitive to any
subtle changes in the climate. In particular these are temperature, humidity, water quality and
airborne diseases this makes them acutely vulnerable to catching these diseases and fungal
infections.
Unlike reptiles or birds, which have hard shelled eggs, amphibians have jelly like, unshelled eggs
that cannot survive desiccation. Amphibians need moist climates to reproduce, and this makes
them extremely sensitive to climate change. Frogs in high mountainous areas are most affected by
global warming. The climate change debate always seems to focus on the potential harm that may
happen in the future if we don t act now. We need to make sure... Show more content on

Tadpoles are very slow growing creatures and cannot begin breeding themselves until four years
later. This restrictive breeding pattern makes it difficult for frogs to reproduce efficiently with many
disturbances being fire, flood water, droughts and disease frequently interfering.
Frogs breeding phenology is being directly affected by enhanced climate change as they are highly
susceptible to rising temperatures. Most species of frogs remain inactive during the winter months
and unbearable summers. Although once the temperatures increase the species surface from
hibernation and immediately search for ponds and rivers to begin breeding. Females only breed
once a year, and the process from a tadpole to a frog can take anywhere between 20 days and 2
years depending on the species of the frog and the surrounding conditions. If the conditions are
not right, metamorphosis can be held back until the conditions are correct. However if these
conditions are never improved a tadpole can be stopped from developing any further. With the
effects from enhanced global warming, the conditions occurring are becoming less and less to the
suitable frogs, and there are less good breeding season occurring every year as a result of the
transforming climate. As a result of this the numbers of frogs in our ecosystems are rapidly
decreasing.

Viking Funeral Essay
A Viking funeral is unlike any funeral that the modern individual is used too. According to Ibn
Fadlan, author of Ibn Fadlan s Account of Viking in Early Russia, an article that narrates a
Viking funeral from an outside perspective, that shows how ritualistic and sacred a Viking
funeral is. Fadlan presents this account by explaining the descriptive process of the funeral of a
Viking from an outside perspective. This paper will be a brief summary and opinion on the
funeral of a Viking. Vikings come from their own country, and they anchor their ships on the River

gold cloth, and pillows of the same material. Then an old crone came, who was called the Angel of
Death. She played a part in the sewing of the garments, all of the equipment needed for the funeral,
and the most important part, the slaying of the girl who agreed to die with her master. Near him in
the grave they had placed strong drinks, and fruits. They now clothed him in drawers, leggings,
boots, and a kurtak and chaftan of cloth of gold, with gold buttons, placing on the head a cap
made of cloth of gold, trimmed with sable. The Viking was dressed very well, to honor and
respect him. That is something that society today can relate too, since we dress our dead in suits
and other things to respect their passing. After the dressing they finally carried him and placed
him in the ship. Pillows, and, bringing of strong fruits, and basil, placed them all beside him.
Then they brought a dog, which they in two, and threw into the ship... They also laid all his

The Boxer Rebellion Essay
Throughout the nineteenth century China s emperors watched as foreign powers began to
encroach closer and closer upon their land. Time after time, China was forced to make
embarrassing concessions. Foreign militaries more modernly armed would constantly defeat the
imperial armies. As the dawn of a new century was about to begin, Empress Tsu Hsi of the Ch ing
Dynasty searched for a way of ridding her empire of the foreign invaders. Germany, Great Britain,
France, Italy, Japan, and Russia all claimed sole trading points to their selected spheres of influence.
Some of these countries even claimed that the territory that lay within their spheres was their own.

there to fear from any invader? Let us not think about making peace. (Wu Yang 48) In the

including hacking men and women with swords, burning them alive and sometimes dragged and
tortured through howling mobs before their execution. Nervous foreign ministers demanded

Within the United States the only true restriction it states about maternity leave specifically is
that a woman who has a vaginally delivery may have at least 6 weeks of leave and a woman who
had a cesarean section may have at least 8 weeks of leave. In addition, the US only has four
states that has laws in place regarding maternity leave as of 2018, with a fifth state adding laws or
regulations in 2019. Instead of specific regulations involving maternity leave the US does have laws
enforced to protect a mother s job. Included in these regulations are prohibiting employers
declining to hire or promote someone because they are expecting a child, also these regulations
do include that a woman can not be fired or demoted because of pregnancy or taking the expected
6 8 weeks leave. It is to the employer s discretion whether to offer paid leave, partial paid leave, or
unpaid leave, and even jobs that offer these benefits often have criteria the woman must meet to
qualify for any paid leave. In contrast to the United States, Europe has a minimum 14 week leave
for new mothers. In addition, to the 14 week minimum Europe has a minimum standard to provide
financial assistance during the leave, including 3 main fianincal resorts; social security benefits,
paid leave from their employer, public funds. Throughout Europe while the minimum maternity

Ponca Indian Tribe Research Paper
I chose to research the Ponca Indian Tribe because they started out in the midwest, and currently
still live in Nebraska. The 4 elements I have elected to write about are the social organizations, their
customs and traditions, language, and the forms of government involved with the Ponca Indian
Tribe.
The Ponca tribe started out in Minnesota, and in the early 1700 s they were relocated to western
banks of the Missouri River into present day Nebraska. They settled along the Ponca Creek in
Knox County Nebraska located in the northeastern part of the state. The Ponca tribe had a rough
road to finally settling in Nebraska, and Oklahoma. They were moved out by the Sioux Indians
in the early 1700 s, and faced many hardships. In 1879 the government kicked off the Ponca
Indians on their land, and the US government granted them land in the late 1900 s. The tribe s
leader was Chief Standing Bear. He was an inspiration to the Indian people. He began the trial of

Heroes In The Odyssey
What is a hero? We all know of the nearly three thousand people who died on September Eleventh,
2001 in New York. But what about the over four hundred firefighters, policemen and paramedics
who died that tragic morning? These men and women knew of the danger they were going into and
yet, they were brave enough to rush into the World Trade Centerwhile most fled the site. These
heroes saved many people. But what of those who came out of the rubble? Most went on living
the rest of their lives before the collision, not asking for glory. Heroes do not want power and
glory but instead show bravery when others cower and are willing to sacrifice for what they
believe in.

Many people who do this volunteer in the U.S. armed forces. While fighting for his country, he
lost an arm and was suddenly afraid (SB p 56). Many soldiers go into battle knowing what they
are fighting for. But the heroes, are the ones who don t shy away from danger of death or loss of
limbs. The ones who die are unfortunate but still heroic. The ones who tell the story are still
heroic in the sense that they still sacrificed their time, efforts or even their body to the cause that
they fight for. A specific example of a soldier who sacrificed a lot is Pat Tillman
. Tillman was
offered a three year, $3.6 million contract playing safety for the Arizona Cardinals. During his
career, he said Passion is what makes life interesting, what ignites our soul and pushes our limits.
This said passion of his beloved country led Tillman to join the U.S. army after the 9/11 attacks,
giving up the joy of being a professional football player and getting that $3.6 million. Tillman
ended up giving his life in the field. Today, there is the Pat Tillman Foundation which helps support
veterans, doing what Pat would do.
In short, heroes are selfless men and women who don t cower in times of need and, if necessary,
sacrifice themselves. We need more heroes today. Like the firefighters on 9/11, we need to show
our bravery. We need fewer power hungry men who will stop at nothing to get their power and we
need more selfless leaders who are

Wearable Health Monitoring Devices Can Be Enhanced By...
There is an explosive growth in wearable computing devices over the past couple of years mostly
due to technological advances in smart devices. Although most of these are self care monitoring
devices the need for assisted living where a patient can be monitored continuously using these
devices are emerging fast. In a typical tracking system, various vital biological signals, fall risks
and changes in predetermined healthconditions are collected via sensors and shared with medical
professionals for intervention if necessary. Most popular applications of self care monitoring
include daily activity monitoring, emergency and fall detection, and rehabilitation. Despite these
useful applications, the paradigms such as autonomy, context awareness, and spontaneous
interactions are not well integrated into these existing systems yet.
Existing wearable health monitoring devices can be enhanced by adding adaptive biofeedback and
control capability. This will transform the current wearable health monitoring devices from a
passive monitoring device to a real time treatment assistive device. Such a device is capable of not
only collecting, storing, and monitoring raw and synthesised data similar to the current wearable
healthcare devices, but can also provide autonomous reconfiguration, controlled treatment processes
by using collected data to provide intelligent local and remote feedback with decision making.
There are a large number of applications that can be benefited from such a

Essay on Mexican Peso Devaluation
1. The trade and current account balances are negative which means they are in a deficit. This
means that they are importing more than they are exporting. This also means that there is an
excess supply of pesos in the world market. Since they are on a fixed exchange rate, the
government is going to have to intervene and buy back pesos using its official reserves account.
If Mexico s foreign exchange balance is unable to effectively buy back pesos, they will be forced
to devalue. 2. Since the private capital account is gradually increasing, it means the peso needs to be
devalued. Generally the current account and the capital account balance are inversely related,
meaning if the current account is negative then the capital... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The money they spent on imports is more than the money they are taking in from exports,
creating an excess supply of pesos. In order to eliminate this, the only way is to buy them back.
5. On June 18 the market for forwards on pesos was anticipating a 20% discount on the peso.
This means that investors are willing to essentially pay 5 pesos for 6 pesos in 3 months because
they anticipate that their value will be discounted 20%. On 8/27, this number was down to
9.08%. This shows optimism that the peso will not be devalued relative to the dollar as much as
initially anticipated on June 18. This shows that the market was implying the probability of
devaluation over a three month period had gone down, although there is still an expected
discount of 9.08% relative to the USD. 6. Since the lending rates to prime borrowers is declining
in the U.S. and increasing in Mexico, this shows that Mexico is trying to strengthen the peso
relative to the USD. By raising interest rates, they are trying to make domestic assets more
attractive in order to raise capital. If other countries start buying their domestic assets, the peso
should consequently appreciate vs. the USD. My analysis, however, is that this attempt may be
unsuccessful. They are going to have to pay back more so then under lower interest rates. In order
to pay back, they are going to be putting more pesos in the world market, ultimately depreciating the
value of them. Regardless, the

Examples Of My Roots
My Roots: I am a Corn Stalk
I am a corn stalk. Now, I bet you are wondering why I would compare myself to something as
bizarre as a field crop, but I have my reasons. No, not just because I am watered and feed as
needed, receive sunlight by playing and working outside, and am fertilized with the rich
nourishment of wisdom that my parents and grandparents provide. And I may be tall (5 9 , to be
exact), but that is not where the comparisons end; there are many more similarities. Similar to
corn, my roots run deep in the soil I have grown up in, and have become the foundation for who I
am.
Johnstown, Colorado has been the home of Klein Farms for three generations (four, if you count
me), so I have grown up with agriculture since day one. Growing up, I loved to play around with
the tractors as I watched my dad and grandpa tinker with equipment. I still remember running out

of this has only increased my passion for agriculture. Witnessing my dad work hard and with

Increase in K+ ions concentration causes increase in membrane potential in crayfish muscle cell
Abstract: The membrane potential of a cell is affected by ions and depends on the electrochemical
gradient and the concentration gradient (Sandstorm et al, 2018). There are multiple ions that
affects the membrane potential including K+, Na+ and Cl but K+ and Na+ affect the membrane
potential the most. In this experiment, we look at how K+ affects the membrane potential by

The electrical gradient also wants to reach equilibrium in charges so that there is less differences in
charge between the inside and the outside of the cell and the two charges cancel each other out. The
equilibrium potential depends on both forces, the concentration and electrical gradient of the ions.
(Sandstrom et al, 2018). The Nernst equation is used to find the voltage at which one ion reaches its
equilibrium potential and the Goldman equation is used to find the membrane potential when there
more than one ion that affects it and have different permeability.
When the membrane potential of a cell is at equilibrium, or at rest , there is not net movement of
ions across the cell membrane. At rest the equilibrium potential of a muscle cell is between 70
mV and 90 mV due to the high concentration of K+ inside the cell. The inside of the cell is very
negative compare to the outside and when the cell depolarizes, it becomes more positive. A
previous research done by P. Fatt and B. Katz show that an increase in K+ concentration outside the
cell causes the most change in resting potential (Fatt, P et al,

Euripides Medea Comparison
In Diane Arnson Svarlien s translation of Euripides Medea, the playwright encrypted a hidden
message in the play Medea that portrays the same theme as J.K Rowling s Harry Potter and the
Prisoner of Azkaban which are: identity, and relationship. To back this up, the first half of the play
is talking about the story of why Medeasplit up with Jasonand Medeamentions that men, like
Jason, treats women with betrayal. She then clarifies the idea by saying disgraceful things about
her husband and ignores Jason s reasoning on why he has to marry off with someone. The reason
why she is considered as other is, she is misunderstood of the actions she had done such as
murdering her children while she was a little paranoid.
One way to prove Medea misunderstands her role as an other is, she is lacking at her citizenship
status. To give an example, according to lines 33 39, Friends talk to her, try to give her good
advice; she listens the way a rock does or an ocean wave. At most, she ll turn her pale neck aside,
sobbing to herself for her dear father, her land, her home, and all that she betrayed for Jason,
who now holds her in dishonor. Medea gave all the effort she can in order to help Jason to
retrieve his golden fleece before this melodrama happened. Eventually, she exiled the first time
when she falls in love with Jason and exiled again due to Jason s Betrayal. Speaking of Jason s
Betrayal, Medea doesn t know what Jason is up to at first because she married off with Jason

American Red Cross Clara Barton Character Traits
Clara Barton Angel of the Battlefield Everyone strives to be the one person who left the most
impressive mark on the world. The person who succeeded significantly is Clara Barton. She paved
way for an improved health organization all across America that would live on for over a century.
Her most notable achievement was founding the American Red Cross but she actually did much
more. Beginning her impressive impression on the world, Clara Bartonbegan the first free public
school in New Jersey. This may seem almost menial work compared to what someone can
accomplish in today s world but the 18th century was a different time for people especially
women. During this period in time, men held most occupations while women stayed home.

She prodded at government and army leaders for weeks to let her help wounded soldiers while
on the field. Her effort succeeded and she was able to do her work on the same field where
hundreds of people were dying. In one experience at the battle of Antietam, a bullet pierced through
her sleeve and killed the soldier she was helping. The most notable achievement made by Clara
Barton is the founding of the American Red Cross. After the war, she took a deserved cure
vacation to Europe. While on her stay, she came in contact with some members of the National
Red Cross Committee. With her heart set on creating an American Red Cross, she returned to
America. The government was hesitant to begin the organization. They were afraid of getting

The Egyptian, Assyrian, And Persian Empires
From 1567 to 330 B.C. humanity experienced many subsequent development as well as decline in
its civilizations. Among these events emerged three colossal empires that had shaken the world and
forever changed the course of human history. The Egyptian, Assyrian, and Persian Empires have
been instrumental in influencing technology, religion, and ideas throughout the world. Various
factors have contributed to the success and downfall of these giants. Each of the World Powers
have similarities as well as distinctions in its government form and organization, religion, and
economy that contributed to their triumph.
The Egyptian, Assyrian, and Persian Empires possess government structure and classification that
is both unique and comparable. The Egyptian Empire was formed under a divine institution and
part of a universal cosmic order: Kingship. Egypt has a government of absolute monarchy, which
allows the leader of Egypt to have unlimited power along with the idea of Divine Right, a right to
rule given from god. Furthermore, the Egyptians have developed an extraordinary administrative
government organization and procedures: the bureaucracy. At the top of the hierarchy was the
Pharaoh who had absolute authority over the people. Pharaohs are considered gods; by obeying the
will of their pharaohs, subjects believed that they are contributing to the development of a world
order. Next to the pharaoh, the official who held the most authority was the vizier, steward of the

This was a skill that focused on helping your followers know that you are proud of them and the
contributions that they have either done or helped you with. This was hard for me to remember to
do in the moment, but during debriefing on orientation days it was nice to celebrate our
accomplishments or how people worked through hard situations. These debriefings brought
everyone together and created a spirit of community, which is one way the book focused in
encouraging the Heart (Kouzes Posner, 2014). Another skill that was something a truly focused on
during the summer was Enabling Others to Act. It was based on fostering collaboration and
strengthening others (Kouzes Posner, 2014). I found this was a hard skill for me to work on because
I like to do things my way. I worked through it by truly listening to others ideas, and the fact that I
was a new S.O.C. I wanted to learn as much as I could from the returning members of my team.
My skit group created a strong bond of trust in each other to get our work done in a timely
manner. The last skill was Challenge the Process and this for me has always been a hard skill to
get my self to do. This has been my main focus this summer, and I continue to work on it to this day.
Challenge the Process focused on going outside the box of the organization or group your working

Evaluation Of The School District
Chapter Four The research around student choice in selecting their courses and teachers, will allow
the school district to build upon the relationships already established. When students are placed into
their preferred teachers class, it will reduce the discipline, improve attendance, decrease the loss of
instructional time, and improve the climate and culture within the school. If the proposed plan from
the previous chapter is implemented, the school district will be able to improve the classroom
experiences for each student. Implementation of this plan, along with the data currently provided,
would directly impact the students and the teachers.
Adjustments
As the Central DeWitt School District implements the planned program, the committee may
develop ways to make adjustments within the system. The changes in the procedure may evolve or
change the focus for staff development, which data is considered the most useful, how to apply the
data, and what to do if the plan does not improve the process. This may require the committee to
review what information is being shared by the students, but also which information is not being
shared. The school district will need to determine which method will allow the collection of the
most important data, to make the best decisions possible. The online program may allow for short
answer, ranking, or simply a selection option. Students may not understand the requirements to

demographic segment stems from the fact that the age structure, income distribution and population

segment is relevant, as an affluent population will continue to drive and sustain demand for organic

Other than an increase in consumption of fresh fruits, vegetables and grain based products,
vitamins and nutritional supplements have also seen an increase demand due to changes in
societal trends. Americans are now more willing to splurge on healthy, organic foods. In fact,
organic foods are deemed beneficial and it has since been accepted as a mainstream choice of
diet. Changing preferences due to a higher proportion of women in the workforce also mean that
consumers today prefer a one stop shopping experience that is being offered by Whole Foods.
The organic food industry has seen a huge spike in growth that is expected to continue into the
future due to an increase in consumption. This will provide Whole Foods Market with huge
opportunities. In addition, a wave of ethical and responsible consumption has swept across America.
Whole Foods decision to pursue sustainable activities will certainly give consumers an added
incentive to purchase its organic products.
Stiff competition within the industry would be one of the key threats that Whole Foods will face.
Strong competitors, coupled with grocery stores that have incorporated natural food sections into
the stores, have made it more challenging for Whole Foods to maintain its pole position in the
market. As the market for organic foods expands rapidly, mainstream supermarkets are also
competing for a slice of the pie. Strict government regulations and the lack of prime locations have

Logical Fallacies In Arthur Miller s Death Of A Salesman
What Pity Creates What are logical fallacies? Logical fallacies are defects that weaken

Wilfred Owen was written in 1917 about the world war one and how it affected a man who lost

prove this I will show how Wilfred Owen and W.H. Auden evoke pity in their poems through
form, language, imagery and response. Disabled` by Wilfred Owen is written in an iambic
pentameter, which means every line contains 10 syllables. Disabled is written in third person as
Wilfred Owen is writing about a young soldier. Owen writes about the soldier as if he is having
flashbacks; Owen did this to show life before and after the war. By showing pre war, Owen was
able to connote pity as we can see how this young soldier had a normal life, then in a short time
period later his life turned into a tragedy. It also shows the reader how quickly this all happened.

I found this activity very interesting because it was more creative than some of our other

Approximately 4.6 billion years ago, it is thought that as many of the giant disc shaped cloud of
material keeps spinning they collide with each other forming the sun and other smaller terrestrial

these gases and dust creating asteroids, comets, and moons.
Earth s rocky core formed first, with heavy elements colliding and binding together. Dense material
sank to the center, while the lighter pieces created the crust. The planet s magnetic field probably
formed around this time. Gravity captured some of the lighter elements that make up the planet s

new prokaryote called cyanobacteria. Cyanobacteria had figured out how to make its own food
through photosynthesis. The more cyanobacteria were out there, the higher the atmospheric
concentration of oxygen became. Cyanobacteria changed the atmosphere and made way for the
evolution of living thing to take a new specific direction.
About 2.1 billion years ago, another organism was formed, Eukaryotes. They probably evolve by
a process called endosymbiosis, where one prokaryote pairs and ties with another prokaryote. It
formed a single celled organism with organelles, specifically the mitochondria and plastids, which
probably evolved from the parasitic prokaryote. By 1.5 billion years ago, we started seeing multi
cellular eukaryotic organisms in the fossil record. The very first would be the Algae. But it wasn t
until 535 million years ago that the Eukaryotes went berserk, known as the Cambrian

CURRENT ISSUES EFFECTING AMERICAN APPAREL :
March 28, 2010 THE NEW YORK POST
The fast talking CEO of American Apparel David Charney whose libertine lifestyle and racy
marketing campaigns have kept the clothing chain controversial and on the minds of its young
shoppers has had to scramble to keep his beloved company out of bankruptcy.
Charney had to give up a large equity stake in the operation to a private equity firm, which rode to
its rescue from bankruptcy .
He also was forced to slow the chain s rapid rate of expansion and had to deal with stores that
couldn t even keep their shelves fully stocked thanks to the vise like grip on cash kept by Lion
Capital, the London based investment firm whose March 2009 financing deal saved Charney s
bacon.
Moreover the retail chain s shares plunged 17 percent after the New York based concern reported
its fourth quarter profits had dropped a jaw dropping 23 percent. While soaring costs and anemic
sales sapped profits, investors were likewise rattled as the company delayed giving an outlook for
2010, citing restrictions imposed on its operations by lenders. Which ultimately spooked investors,
who raced for the exits sending shares to a close at $3.17, down 67 cents.
At the time of the downturn , the company had to implement firings of about 1,500 workers .
But there was a new tune being played last week.
Thus the reduction in manufacturing

Compare And Contrast Inca And Aztec Civilization
The Incan and Aztec civilization were powerful and wealthy tribes. They survived and thrived in
various regions in South America. Resources were abundant and several crucial aspects that helped
sustain both indigenous tribes were religion, government and social systems, economics, and their
geography. Nevertheless, these vital aspects were also significant in their catastrophic downfall
during their encounters with CortГ©s and Pizarro. Once ruthless conquistadors and explorers like
HernГЎn CortГ©s and Francisco Pizarro arrived, the Native American tribes could not stand a
chance. After all, both Spanish explorers were better equipped with weapons and defense. For
example, they had supplies like powerful cannons, muskets, heavy duty armor, as well as brawny
horses. On the other hand, the savage Incas and Aztecs, though strong and mighty in warfare, only
had spears, arrowheads (usually dipped in poison), natural resources used in the creation weaponry

In an unsuccessful and desperate attempt by Moctezuma to make CortГ©s and his army leave, he
tried to bribe the determined Spanish explorer with gold. Instead of complying, CortГ©s captured
Moctezuma and claimed Mexico for Spain. Years later after being forced out by the Aztecs,
CortГ©s returned, demolished TenochtitlГЎn, and built Mexico City. In efforts to acquire more
land, become wealthy by retrieving gold, and forcefully converting others to Catholicism, Francisco
Pizarro imitated CortГ©s s technique to vanquish and dominate the Incas, which resided in Peru in
1531. He captured Atahualpa, (the ruler at that time) in 1532, and made the Incas pay an extremely
expensive ransom a year later. Nevertheless, Atahualpa was executed. Pizarro was then able to
successfully defeat the Incas in 1533.He then took Cuzco, the capital

Immanuel Kafk The Hunger Artist
The hunger artist is present as separate from his audience because of his artistry and this is further
enhanced by the fact that he has chosen to seclude himself within a cage during his fasting
periods. This physical separation between him and society displays the self imposed alienation he
feels is necessary to craft. This physical separation allows him to dive deeper into his crat and his
purist for success while at the same time distancing him more from audience and their ability to
understand. The hungerartist believes that being separate from society is an essential part to being
able to properly display his craft. This willingness to be separated from society makes it
increasingly harder for the audience to truly appreciate his craft,... Show more content on

Although he is able to fast much longer than 40 days he cannot because people will lose interest.
This causes a great separation from himself and the audience because the audience is content
with what they receive but he has a goal of reach his artist limit. The fact that people lose interest
so quickly while he is trying to achieve the most out of his craft really alienates his from his
audience. Although they are content he is constantly unhappy because he is unable to reach his
limits, this leaves him always dissatisfied. When the speaker explains the process after his 40
day fast his disappointment and frustration is shown. This is show when Kafka writes, . . . and

Example Of Intertextuality
What is intertextuality? How does intertextuality challenge E.D. Hirsch s idea that a text has a
single meaning created by its author? Explain with reference to examples drawn from any media
format.
According to American literary critic, E.D. Hirsch, in order to interpret a body of text, one must
ask one s self the only question that can be answered objectively what, in all probability, did the
author mean to convey? He believed that the author s intended meaning equates the meaning of a
text and it is in fact, the reader s duty to uncover the the author s intentions.
The meaning of a text and its author s intentions are one and the same.
Hirsch s concept revolves around the assumption that a body of text is original, and is ... Show more

someone watching a satirical television show such as The Simpsons).
The best example of this sort of intertextuality would be the process of a reader (or surfer)
browsing the world wide web. Here, an author cannot control the way in which a reader
approaches his or her body of text. There is seldom a linear fashion in which a reader consumes
information while surfing the internet. It is common for him or her to absorb only small chunks
of texts on one page of a website before being led to an entirely different webpage via links.
Through surfing and following links of their choice, readers effectively thus begin to construct their
own text of sorts as they make their way through various sites on the internet.
Unlike newspapers or most other forms of printed media, intertextuality on the internet is often one
of a blatant and conscious nature. Here, almost more so than anywhere else, it is clear that content
is not entirely original, nor is it based on an author s sole ideas and concepts. It is common for a
great many websites to host a multitude of links, and consist of short articles that link to other
sources of information that the work was based on, or that provide further elaboration.

channels are very important because they are the ones who help us find the products and services
that we greatly need. (Retrieve from Importance of Marketing) Today, electronic delivery sends

Khadr was captured for the murder of unarmed medic Christopher Speer. The US had held Khadr for a period of ten years (from 2002 2012). During this time, Canada did not fulfill its obligation to protect Omar Khadr and his rights. Canadafailed to protect Khadr and his rights during three instances: Firstly, during the rough interrogation that involved various types of torture Canada did not speak up for Khadr nor did they fight for his rights. Secondly, Canada did not request for the right of Extradition when Khadr was captured, instead letting the US hold him for ten years. Lastly, Canada assisted the unfair prosecution of Khadr while... Canada had to take back Khadr once it was publicized that he was being tortured almost every day. In addition to this, Prime Minister Stephen Harper had confidence that the US military would try Khadr in a fair manner, but obviously he was wrong as Khadr was forced to sign an unfair plea that would basically force him into Canada. Dennis Edney Khadr s former lawyer states He has fought for close to eight years to get a pair of protective glasses to preserve the amount of sight remaining in Omar s one eye with vision. He received them in November of last year. That is the extent of the help Omar has received from the Canadian government, they can t even get him a pair of glasses. (Edney 5). Khadr was going blind in Guantanamo and requested a pair of glasses for eight years. Canada did not comply and didn t even speak to Guantanamo about getting Khadr glasses; instead, they let the US treat the Canadian citizen very harshly and not even provide him with a pair of glasses. Canada did not care about Khadr instead they just let the US deal with him unfairly. Canada should have been more involved in the treatment of Khadr and should not have supported the US while they were violating Khadr. Unlike the other countries such Britain and Australia Canada did not pressure the US to extradite Khadr. In addition to this, they stood by the US s strong torture methods due to the fact that Canada did not speak up when Khadr was sent to Guantanamo, even though Guantanamo was famous for torturing its prisoners. ... As intrusion detection is one of the major research problem in network security. Tradition intrusion detection systemcontain a number of problems, such as low performance, high false negative rate, low intelligent level. In this research work we compared effectiveness of decision tree method in Intrusion Detection System. We also compare the detection rate, false alarm rate for different types of attack. 1.0Background Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS) are software or hardware designed to automatically monitor activities within a network of computers and identify any security issues . IDS have been around for at least 30 years since increased enterprise network access produced a new challenge, the need for user access and monitoring. As day to day operations grew increasingly dependent upon shared use of information systems, levels of access to these systems and clear visibility into user activity was required to operate safely and securely. Many of the initial headway on IDS was made within the U.S. Air Force. In 1980, James P. Anderson, an innovator of information security and member of the Defense Science Board Task Force on Computer Security at the U.S. Air Force, produced Computer Security Threat Monitoring and Surveillance, a ... Because you don t destroy people you love Grey s Anatomy In Arthur Miller s Death of a Salesman, Miller uses many objects and events to represent bigger ideas and themes to help ground the story and make it less confusing. Many of these objects could represent multiple ideas within the story, and it is up to the reader to interpret what they believe the objects represent. One such object is stockings. • 6. Essay On John Locke s Rejection Of Innate Ideas How Successful is John Locke s Rejection of Innate Ideas? The theory of innate knowledge states that some knowledge is part of the mind from birth and therefore we are not born with a blank slate . This means that innate knowledge can only ever be a priori and not a posteriori. A priori is knowledge that only be gained through reason and a posteriori is knowledge which can only be gained through sense experience. Innatism assumes that the knowledge we acquire is not only gained through experience and the senses. John Locke is an empirical philosopher who argues against the theory of innate knowledge. He attempts to answer questions such as how we think and perceive. He believes that directly justified beliefs can only come from experience. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He states that just because something possesses the ability to think, does not imply that it actually exists. He argues that we have no right to assume this. This makes Descartes example of innate ideas false and therefore means Descartes cannot prove the existence of knowledge. In Descartes third meditation, there is a thought experiment called the wax example. He uses this to show what he believes to be innate. According to Descartes, our minds are already stocked with many intellectual concepts innate ideas. These concepts consist of mathematics, logic and metaphysics. Descartes states that even our sensory ideas hold some form of innateness. He believes that bodies have no properties with resemble our sensory ideas such as colour, texture, sounds etc. This implies that the content of these ideas must come from the mind itself. One problem with this formulation is if these sensory ideas are innate then how do we characterise innateness? These sensory ideas depend upon sensory ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Empathy is important because it bonds the human connections. Another major point of Wagner s article was that social media can cause less honest relationships. This is another statement that I found to be true. It is so easy to lie and scam over the internet because anyone can take the identity of everyone since mediated communication can block our full understanding of the environment. To debate with her statements, the reason why People today generally prefer mediated communication rather than personal interaction... In particular these are temperature, humidity, water quality and airborne diseases this makes them acutely vulnerable to catching these diseases and fungal infections. Unlike reptiles or birds, which have hard shelled eggs, amphibians have jelly like, unshelled eggs that cannot survive desiccation. Tadpoles are very slow growing creatures and cannot begin breeding themselves until four years later. This restrictive breeding pattern makes it difficult for frogs to reproduce efficiently with many disturbances being fire, flood water, droughts and disease frequently interfering. Frogs breeding phenology is being directly affected by enhanced climate change as they are highly susceptible to rising temperatures. Most species of frogs remain inactive during the winter months and unbearable summers. Although once the temperatures increase the species surface from hibernation and immediately search for ponds and rivers to begin breeding. Females only breed once a year, and the process from a tadpole to a frog can take anywhere between 20 days and 2 years depending on the species of the frog and the surrounding conditions. If the conditions are not right, metamorphosis can be held back until the conditions are correct. However if these conditions are never improved a tadpole can be stopped from developing any further. With the effects from enhanced global warming, the conditions occurring are becoming less and less to the suitable frogs, and there are less good breeding season occurring every year as a result of the transforming climate. There is an explosive growth in wearable computing devices over the past couple of years mostly due to technological advances in smart devices. Although most of these are self care monitoring devices the need for assisted living where a patient can be monitored continuously using these devices are emerging fast. In a typical tracking system, various vital biological signals, fall risks and changes in predetermined healthconditions are collected via sensors and shared with medical professionals for intervention if necessary. Most popular applications of self care monitoring include daily activity monitoring, emergency and fall detection, and rehabilitation. Despite these useful applications, the paradigms such as autonomy, context awareness, and spontaneous interactions are not well integrated into these existing systems yet. Existing wearable health monitoring devices can be enhanced by adding adaptive biofeedback and control capability. This will transform the current wearable health monitoring devices from a passive monitoring device to a real time treatment assistive device. Such a device is capable of not only collecting, storing, and monitoring raw and synthesised data similar to the current wearable healthcare devices, but can also provide autonomous reconfiguration, controlled treatment processes by using collected data to provide intelligent local and remote feedback with decision making. These debriefings brought everyone together and created a spirit of community, which is one way the book focused in encouraging the Heart (Kouzes Posner, 2014). Another skill that was something a truly focused on during the summer was Enabling Others to Act. It was based on fostering collaboration and strengthening others (Kouzes Posner, 2014). I wanted to learn as much as I could from the returning members of my team. My skit group created a strong bond of trust in each other to get our work done in a timely manner. The last skill was Challenge the Process and this for me has always been a hard skill to get my self to do. This has been my main focus this summer, and I continue to work on it to this day. If the proposed plan from the previous chapter is implemented, the school district will be able to improve the classroom experiences for each student. Implementation of this plan, along with the data currently provided, would directly impact the students and the teachers. Adjustments As the Central DeWitt School District implements the planned program, the committee may develop ways to make adjustments within the system. The changes in the procedure may evolve or change the focus for staff development, which data is considered the most useful, how to apply the data, and what to do if the plan does not improve the process.
