I am a corn stalk. Now, I bet you are wondering why I would compare myself to something as
bizarre as a field crop, but I have my reasons. No, not just because I am watered and feed as
needed, receive sunlight by playing and working outside, and am fertilized with the rich
nourishment of wisdom that my parents and grandparents provide. And I may be tall (5 9 , to be
exact), but that is not where the comparisons end; there are many more similarities. Similar to
corn, my roots run deep in the soil I have grown up in, and have become the foundation for who I
am.
Johnstown, Colorado has been the home of Klein Farms for three generations (four, if you count
me), so I have grown up with agriculture since day one. Growing up, I loved to play around with
the tractors as I watched my dad and grandpa tinker with equipment. I still remember running out

Refugee blues, by poet W.H. Auden was written in 1939 about world war two and the lives of
two German Jews, a man and his wife explaining how they have been mistreated. Disabled by
Wilfred Owen was written in 1917 about the world war one and how it affected a man who lost
his limbs. The poets evoke pity in refugee blues and disabled by using the theme of loneliness. To
prove this I will show how Wilfred Owen and W.H. Auden evoke pity in their poems through
form, language, imagery and response. Disabled` by Wilfred Owen is written in an iambic
pentameter, which means every line contains 10 syllables. Disabled is written in third person as
Wilfred Owen is writing about a young soldier. Owen writes about the soldier as if he is having
flashbacks; Owen did this to show life before and after the war. By showing pre war, Owen was
able to connote pity as we can see how this young soldier had a normal life, then in a short time

I found this activity very interesting because it was more creative than some of our other
discussion board assignments. The mind map expanded significantly just from one idea, which
shows the strength of the word Terrorism and the problems that have occurred because of it. It
was interesting to see a collective train of thought amongst many people. I noticed that a lot of
people mentioned the countless shootings that have been reported recently in the news. While
there were many shootings before this school year, I thought of Parkland while looking at the
