Just Poverty In Just Mercy, By Bryan Stevenson
In our country, hundreds of people are apprehended every day for misdemeanors crimes. Our local justice system will then charge these individuals with fines
that can be as much as $2,000 or more. Failure to pay this said fine can immediately result in potential jail time. Yet, if you can pay your bail, you will spend
no more than 24 hours in a local facility. Many of these people are poor, while the remainder of these people tends to be middle to upper class citizens.
The 14th Amendment is set in place to protect citizens from being denied the equal protection of the laws . This statement requires all branches of government
to treat everyone equally. In Just Mercy, Bryan Stevenson shares stories about the unjust treatment many of his clients received at the hands of the American
Justice System. Many of which were poor, lower class citizens who had committed a crime. All of which were charged wrongfully.
Bryan Stevenson was a lawyer based out of Montgomery, Alabama. He helped many of these people get an honest, fair sentence. Through the publication of
his book, he has educated many on the reality of our prison systems in America. He shares his firsthand accounts of children being charged as adults, innocent
men being charged for crimes they had clearly not had any involvement with, and women living in poverty being charged with murder for burying their
stillborn children. All of these cases had one thing in common: poverty.
Poverty is defined as the state of being

To Kill A Mockingbird Dialectical Journal
How To Kill a Mockingbird Journal How characters affect other characters By Sadie Giddings A bunch of characters in the novel To Kill a Mockingbird affect
other characters. Each character is affected differently. Scout affects a bunch of characters. On page 46, Scout brings out the good in Dill. What I mean by this
is that Scout and Dill are really close friends and Dill says he is going to marry Scout. This also affects Scout. Dill says he is going to marry Scout makes her
feels joyful. On that page it says He had asked me earlier in the summer to marry him, then he promptly forgot about it. He staked me out, marked as his
property, said I was the only girl he would ever love, then he neglected me. Dill started to neglect Scout by hanging out with Jem more yes that upset ... Show

That someone else was Miss Maudie. Scout started hanging out with Miss Maudie when she started to be neglected by Dill and Jem. Because Scout was
hanging out with Miss Maudie it made Miss Maudie feels appreciated. Miss Maudie felt appreciated because she had someone that wanted to talk to her and
spend time with her. On pages 46 47, it says Our tacit treaty with Miss Maudie was that we could play on her lawn, eat her scuppernongs if we didn t jump on
the arbor, and explore her vast back lot, terms so generous we seldom spoke to her, so careful were we to preserve the delicate balance of our relationship, but
Jem and Dill drove me closer to her with their behavior. Scout also affects Uncle Jack by showing him that there is more than just one side of a story. On page
97 it says I m disappointed in you―you had that coming and you know it. Didn t either. Honey, you can t go around calling people― You ain t fair, I said, you

Comparing Women In Athens And Sparta
Women in Athens and Sparta were treated completely different. Women in Sparta were viewed more equally, while the women in Athens were treated like
slaves. Women in a Greek city/state known as Athens, were not educated, and were treated the same if not worse than slaves (Athenian, 2005). In Athens,
Women lived in a society completely dominated by men (O Pry, 2012). This all ended when the women of Sparta (a Greek city/state) were seen overcoming
these issues. The life of a woman in Athens was completely different than a Spartan. Women were treated differently, in Sparta they could manage the land,
have their own public opinion, and were treated equal as men, while women in Athens had no public or political rights. Not only was this a big ... Show more

Spartan women definitely over ruled the other Greek city/states. Both Athenian and Spartan women still had no political rights, but they could give their own
political opinions to men (O Pry,2012). The women in Athens couldn t leave their homes, therefore they couldn t talk to men. In Sparta the women ran all
estates and had all rights to go out in public (Fleck, 2007). In Athens, Greece No women, foreigners, or slaves were considered citizens (O Pry, 2012). This
changed in Sparta when the women came out ruling their city/state. Spartans educated them much in the same way as the boys attending school (O Pry, 2012).
While in Athens, had little to no education. In Athens no women had a choice of who they married. This was all decided by the father. The women in Athens
did have the right to divorce, but had to get permission from her husband first, and had the chance of losing custody of her children. In Sparta women had the
right to marry and divorce as needed. If a woman s husband was at war to long they had the right to remarry (Athenian, 2005). This was something researchers
have never seen before causing them to become very confused on this situation. Even though Sparta came out looking strong they had their downfalls. When
the population of children started to go down, because the expenses were going up, the helots came in to attack (Like they did every year). The helots defeated
them due to the military downsize. This caused Spartans to believe women were the cause, Spartans lost all the land they conquered in Messenia, and were
now just like all the regular Greek city/states. Change is hard at first, messy in the middle and gorgeous at the end (Robin Sharma). In the end it probably
turned out not to be a bad idea

The Past, Present and Future of Computer Hacking
The Past, Present and Future of Computer Hacking Abstract Society relies heavily on technology for many things, but our use of technology opens us up to
become victims of cybercrimes, like computer hacking. Hackers can be divided into three main categories: novice, intermediate, and elite. Hacking has been in
the information technology (IT) field for a while. The first hackers appeared in the nineteen sixties and hackers have continued to make progress since then.
People hack for a variety of reasons including ego, fun, knowledge, and profit. The first major hacking program, SATAN, caused controversy in 1995, and
numerous hacking programs exist today. The future of hacking looks bright because people will only continue to rely even ... Show more content on

Originally the term hack was used to describe what club members did to electric tracks and switches to make them run quicker or better (Lilley 2002, 16). In
1978 Randy Suess and Ward Christiansen created the first online bulletin board system where hackers could exchange tips, information, and stolen passwords
and credit card numbers. There are currently over 40,000 bulletins worldwide (Lilley 2002, 16). The United States Congress passed the Computer Fraud and
Abuse Act in 1986. The Act recognized the unauthorized access of federal interest computer with the intention to commit fraudulent theft and the altering of
information to inflict malicious damage as felony offences (Lilley 2002, 16). During the Gulf War two teenaged Dutch hackers copied information from the
Defense Department systems. Although the US General Accounting Office said that the information was unclassified, it was still sensitive and the teenagers
tried to sell the information to the Iraqis. One might ask what the reward is in hacking if any. Some hackers do what they do for knowledge and ego, while
others do it for fun and profit. Learning to crack the codes of different and more complex websites provides hackers with more knowledge and tricks that can
help them make names for themselves as elite hackers in the hacking community. Many hackers pick large groups or government entities for attacks aimed at
making a big splash (Crume 2000, 29). The more high profile the

Comparison of my Mother s Leadership to Something the...
The movie, Something the Lord Made, sings a paean about two successful men: Vivien Thomas and Dr. Blalock. The movie shows how Vivien, the doctor s
assistant, and Dr. Blalock, the head doctor work together to solve a medical problem. On one hand, their relationship is so enviable that their tacit cooperation
is the key to their success in solving the blue baby puzzle that has gotten the best of other proficient doctors. On the other hand, Dr. Blalock s stern,
adventurous, authoritative, and indifferent mentoring styles are controversial. The same mentoring style has different effects on different people, and different
people would prefer different mentoring styles. Though my foremost mentor, my mom, was as stern as Dr. Blalock is, she is far more prudent and considerate.
Like Dr. Blalock, my mon was very stern, especially when it came to matters that dealt with my studies, but she was doing it for my own good. Dr. Blalock
undoubtedly is strict with Vivien Thomas. When Vivien made his first mistake during an experiment, Dr. Blalock bursts out and yells, Do you have sawdust or
just plain... for brains? Although it later unexpectedly becomes the opening of the two starting to respect each other, it first hurts Vivien so bad that he wants to
immediately quit the job his whole family relies on. My mom was stern with me too. She had a very high standard about my grades. Also when I told her that
there was something I wanted to learn, she said that unless I continuously

The For Project Management Capabilities Development
2.1 INSTUTIONS FOR PROJECT MANAGEMENT CAPABILITY DEVELOPMENT
The evolution in institutes and association in project management had Initial activities concentrated on information exchange and project practices but soon
expanded into the area of certification. The requirement for certification standardization by the associations first PMI in USA, and later APM in UK, developed
their own reference documents. The first version of its (Guide to the) Project Management Body of Knowledge in 1976 and reviewed by 1983 was produced
and Various other national project management associations produced their own versions, in some cases quite different from PMI‟s. these BOKs were
developed over the period 1976 2001 [Morris et al 2006]. PMI became the primary basis of certification program in the mid 1980 s with further updates in the
upcoming years. On the other hand, Professional Standards Group (PSG) of UK Association of project managers (APM) leads to development of APM s body
of knowledge. The content of APM s BOK was dictated by APM certification programmer, which made document to be the bedrock from which aspects of
education and training of project managers are addressed. By questioning individuals in various industries their use and understanding the 44 topics of project
management which have been complied by various systems of Body of Knowledge elements used by APM (G. Themistocleus, 2000) APM‟s early BoKs were

Symbolism In Snowpiercer
In Snowpiercer fish are symbolic of life. Both the fish and the people are stuck on the train, the fish cannot leave the aquarium as the people on the train are
supposed to stay in their designated cars. They both eat the same food that is designated to them day after day, for just enough nutrition to live. As well as both
the humans and the fish are closely monitored to ensure there is no overgrowth in population. Curtis and the rest of the people included in the revolution make
it far up the train, but in one car, there is a small army of masked men with axes. Before the battle takes place, the masked men pierce their axes through a fish,
perhaps to intimidate the rebels, or to poison them with mercury from the fish. It seems the strongest

The Between Camp Four And The Summit
Many factors contributed to the bottlenecks between Camp Four and the summit, including: The fact that no Sherpas left ahead of the climbers to fix ropes to
aid in climbing above the Balcony, which left the climbers waiting while Beidleman, a guide, fixed the ropes; the Taiwanese team, who were climbing very
slowly and all together, making it impossible to pass them, therefore creating delays for the climbers behind them; and the fact that once the ascent had begun,
Hall s Sherpas were not eager to assist in fixing the ropes, presumably because they were angry that Fischer s Sherpas were not sharing the workload as had
been originally planned.
Krakauer was critical of Boukreev in this section of the climb because Boukreev was not using supplemental oxygen or a backpack, both of which Krakauer
felt he should have had in the case of an emergency, as Boukreev was a guide, and charged with helping and protecting the clients, an ability which Krakauer
thought was inhibited by this lack of oxygen and supplies, especially considering how much the high altitude and thin air affects the ability to think clearly.
Just before reaching the summit, despite the fact that he was having difficulty breathing, Krakauer was actually quite calm but disoriented, and relatively
excited about the prospect of reaching the summit. However, at the moment of his summit, he did not feel the elation that he expected, but rather apprehension
and dread about what he knew to be a difficult descent.

Industrial relations ideologies
Introduction A frame of reference is not a philosophical concept. It refers to one s worldview and the evaluation or judgement of one s observations. One s
frame of reference coincides with one s behaviour and the consequences thereof. Therefore, a frame of reference is fixed but one needs to be sensitive and
accept individual differences in frames of reference. This paper aims to address the frame of reference of Pick n Pay s chairman and joint managing director,
Mr Raymond Ackerman. The arguments presented in this paper are my own with a theoretical basis from the work of Bluen (1987). My interpretation of Mr
Ackerman s frame of reference will be presented in relation to the organisation, conflict, collective bargaining and trade ... Show more content on

This reiterates the notion of balance of power. Collective bargaining The ability for positions to reach a consensus is reached through collective bargaining.
Bluen (1987) infers that the pluralist frame of reference does not seek to remove conflict but to manage it. Mr Ackerman acknowledged the existence of
conflict and tried to manage it by sending his negotiating team to resolve the conflict and end the strike. Mr Ackerman has a pluralist view because he believes
the issue should have been resolved during negotiations. He even went as far as awarding greater bargaining flexibility to the negotiating team. The mere fact
that Mr Ackerman was so determined to resolve the conflict though means of collective bargaining should eliminate the likelihood of a unitary frame of
reference. Collective bargaining, an equitable balance of power, and essentially the aim to compromise confirm that Mr Ackerman holds a pluralist view on
industrial relations. Mr Ackerman fought to reach a consensus for personal and economic reasons. The breakthrough to reach a consensus was achieved after
he delivered his speech. He appealed to the opposing union members by focusing on personal matters. This led to the agreement of a negotiation. Mr
Ackerman considered going up on his agreement and the union considered going down on theirs. No suppression or unilateral decision making occurred. In

Irregular Warfare (IW)
Intro: Though conventional and irregular warfare (IW) are both forms of warfare with the desired objective of affecting the opposition s government, the
means by which they achieve that objective differ greatly. A major war against a near peer competitor would likely place the Marine Corps against another
military superpower. Preparation for such a conflict would ideally focus on tactics suited for a conventional military. Meanwhile, preparing for success against
an irregular threat would conversely focus on non traditional and indirect means and skills intended to earn or degrade trust and support from the target
population. As state and non state actors place more emphasis on IW, preparation for success against irregular threats increases rather than undermines the
Marine Corps ability to fight and win a major war against near peer competitors. Point 1: It s the future... because ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

the favored form of warfare of those who would be our adversaries. The rise of political, religious, and ethnic extremist ideologies fuels conflicts worldwide

Concept v2.0 while violent extremist organizations and other non state adversaries have turned to irregular forms of warfare as effective ways to counter
traditional military powers, such methods are not limited to use by non state actors (DoD, pg.

Essay on Unraveling the Issues of Compensated Organ Donations
Introduction
Compensated organ donations one of the most controversial issues we have today. The scarcity of organ donations in America is the main reason there is a
sudden diversion of possible source of organs. Beginning with donations of organs from cadaver to living donors, different strategies sprung just to reduce the
said shortage; as a result of this quest, sale and paid organs is one of the approaches that gathered too much attention from the public. The controversy of paid
organ donations entered the limelight when the state of Wisconsin offered incentives to the living donors. This law, which was created in the year 2004, grants
tax deduction and repayment of donation expenses such as travel cost and lost earnings. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Moreover, it also violates human dignity because it treats the organs and human body parts as commodities. Not to mention the fact that such action weakens
and demoted altruism. However, the real picture of compensated organ donations is actually the opposite of unethical and self interest ; it promotes life and
therefore regarded as a good and moral deed. Organ Donation s Supply and Demand
Knowing the rate of supply and demand of organ donation helps in establishing a clear background about the issue. For instance, Monti (2009) explained the
reality of supply and demand of kidneys. The supply of this organ coming from deceased and altruistic donors are not enough to support the demand of those
individuals who are in need. Approximately there are 73,000 people who wait for kidney donations and 18 of those who are in the wait list will die by
tomorrow. Accordingly, the list is being added by 6,000 individuals every year. An individual has to wait for five years before he/she can get an organ
donation. The facts and figures presented by Monti shows that there is a big gap between the supply and demand of organ donations . The Center for Bioethics
(2004) gave supplementary details on the issue of organ shortage. In their article ethics of organ transplantation they said that United Network for Organ
Sharing or UNOS keeps a comprehensive figure on the present status of people who need organ transplants and presently there more than

Analysis Of Concepts In The Hundred Dresss By Eleanor Estes
We all had something when we were younger that put the spotlight on us as children. Whether it was an unusual last name, big ears, or funny freckles there
was something that made us insecure or self conscious. I can remember being made fun of for my last name Hartung . Kids used to ask me if my tongue was a
heart and I would begrudgingly answer saying that Hartung actually meant royalty in German, which was a lie but it was what my parents told me to say. In
The Hundred Dresses , Eleanor Estes illustrates these concepts that still hold true today because no matter how time goes on children will always be made fun
of for ailments they cannot help. She explains how putting others down due to things that are out of their control, such as a funny last name like Hartung , will
never make you feel better about yourself. Eleanor Estes goes on to show how you should stand up for people because being a bystander makes you part of the
problem, something that adults and kids alike struggle with today. Lastly, she shows how everyone is unique and although there may be something a little

Modern Chicano Theater, By Luis Valdez Is Best Known As...
Ibrahim Aldosaimani Luis Valdez 1940 Considered the originator of modern Chicano theater, Valdez is best known as the founding director of El Teatro
Campesino, a seminal grassroots theater group initially formed to convince California migrant farmworkers of the value of unionization. Valdez, who writes
some works in English and others in a blend of English and Spanish, is credited with having provided momentum to the Chicano theater movement through his
highly vivid style and his ability to place the Chicano experience within a universal American framework. BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION Born into a
family of migrant farmworkers in Delano, California, Valdez began working in the fields at six years of age. Although his education was frequently interrupted
by his family s constant travel, Valdez finished high school and subsequently attended San Jose State College. After graduating in 1964 Valdez joined the San
Francisco Mime Troupe, from which he gained an appreciation of agitprop theater, which makes use of political agitation and propaganda to protest social
injustice. Valdez returned to Delano in 1965 to assist César Chávez and the United Farmworkers Union in their efforts to unionize migrant workers. There
Valdez organized the strikers into a performing group to dramatize the exploitation of farmworkers and to demonstrate the necessity of unionization for their
financial survival. In 1967 Valdez and El Teatro Campesino began touring nationally, expanding their focus on the

Istj Case Study
After taking the survey I learned that I was an Introverted Sensing Thinking Judging or ISTJ. ISTJ s are known for keeping the rules and not liking things that
have unclear rules. They also hate when things or people have inconsistencies, or when people do not keep up their end of an agreement. They love being apart
of organized groups such as government, schools, the military, and churches because they all have a set way of doing things and do not sway in their beliefs.
Their social skills are excellent because they are precise and to the point. Feelings are something that ISTJ s have a hard time discussing, because feelings are
random and out of their control. When ISTJ s are learning something it has to be important and practical for bettering

Essay on Role of Women in Edmund Spenser s The Faerie Queene
Role of Women in Edmund Spenser s The Faerie Queene
Edmund Spenser in his epic romance, The Faerie Queene, invents and depicts a wide array of female figures. Some of these women, such as Una and Caelia,
are generally shown as faithful, virtuous and overall lovely creatures. Other feminine characters, such as Errour, Pride, and Duessa are false, lecherous and
evil. This might seem to be the end of Spenser s categorization of women; that they are either good or bad. Yet upon closer examination one finds that Spenser
seems to be struggling to portray women more honestly, to depict the complex reality of woman (Berger, 92). Spenser does not simply idealize women or the
feminine viewpoint as he could easily do ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Upon seeing Redcrosse being strangled by Errour s vile tail, Una provides directions saying Now now Sir knight, shew what ye bee, / Add faith unto your
force, and be not faint: / Strangle her, else she sure will strangle thee (1.19.164 66). With Una s encouragement and guidance Redcrosse is able to free himself
from Errour s grasp and slay the snake creature. Again in the third canto, Spenser describes Una as a brave and powerful creature, She of nought affrayd, /
Through woods and wastnesse wide travels alone (3.3.25 6). It seems that Una is perfectly in control of her various situations, and that Spenser is depicting
women as being capable of being both beautiful and chaste as well as strong and confident.
Una is also portrayed with a religious power as she is a spiritual guide for Redcrosse. Redcrosse s chief faults are a weak faith and a corresponding excessive
confidence in his own virtue (Broaddus, 9). Redcrosse in turn relies almost completely on Una to guide him on the righteous path. As Una and Redcrosse begin
their journey together, Redcrosse lustily pricks across the plains, while Una takes the more spiritually appropriate, and slower, transportation. Spenser writes of
Una:
A lovely Ladie rode him faire beside,
Upon a lowly Asse more white then snow,
Yet she much whiter, but the same did hide
Under a vele, that wimpled was full

Who Is Hulu s Target Market
Companies always reshape their product to grow or to obtain their goal. Now multiple companies are buying one another to get a better reach of their target
market. The first article from Advertising Age states that Hulu will stop offering TV shows for free. That is quite daunting for the users you range from all ages
especially millennials who are the main users. The streaming service is discarding its free platform that provided streaming viewers with a library of hundreds
of movies, TV shows, and clips since 2007. Hulu s decision to terminate free streaming is a major step as it tries to gain more traction against other streaming
video sites, such as Netflix, YouTube, and Amazon. Hulu becomes a lot more like Netflix by offering a monthly ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is drastic because when Hulu was announced back in 2005 the cable companies weren t too happy about another platform getting all the views. Now they are
on board with cable cutting. And that new, live TV service just got a ton more channels: CNN, TBS, Cartoon Network, TNT, and more. Not a bad haul!
Alongside that buy in is the guarantee of Time Warner s many TV channels and the content they produce to Hulu s live TV offering. Time Warner is far from
the first major TV content creator to hook up with Hulu s live TV service. NBCUniversal, Disney, and Fox are all in talks with Hulu to offer channels on the
new service. There are still lots of questions about the new service, like when exactly it will launch and how much it ll cost. Rumors put the service at between
$30 and $40/month, with an expected launch in early 2017. The two articles are related because they depict Hulu s future and their reshaping of their

There are three characters in the story of Romeo and Juliet that take some and most of the blame on the death of the two Romeo and Juliet. Two of the
characters take some of the blame while the third character takes all of the blame. The two characters that take some of the blame are Lady Capulet And Lord
Capulet. Lady Capulet is married to Lord Capulet and have a daughter named Juliet. The third person that takes most of the blame for their death is not a
person at all. It is fate. These three characters are the reason why Romeo and Juliet take their lives. ( DBQ: Romeo and Juliet: Who s to Blame . Doc.B,A,D)

It is fate. During this time period, everyone believed that you had a fate and whatever you do is because of your fate. Fate plays a big part in Romeo and Juliet.
You can see people s fate in different parts of the play. A part of the play that fate is in is when Tybalt kills Mercutio. Tybalt s fate is he would kill Mercutio and
then be killed by Romeo. Mercutio fate is he would be killed by Tybalt. The reason why fate takes most of the blame in this play is because whatever your fate
is you can not change your fate. Romeo could not change that he would meet Juliet and then get married and then killed Tybalt And be banished from the city
and poison himself to be with Juliet. It is the same for Juliet. She falls in love with Romeo and eventually kill herself when she sees Romeo dead. Since their
fate was to die because they loved each other, they died. Fate takes all the blame because it is the reason why they died.( DBQ: Romeo and Juliet: Who s to

Lord Capulet and Lady Capulet take some of the blame for Romeo and Juliet s death, but there fate takes most of the blame for their death. Fate takes the blame

Motivation For Witchcraft
Throughout the sixteenth and seventeenth century, witchcraft was widespread throughout various areas of the world. Today, witchcraft may be subtly displayed
in children s books, where a witch often an elderly woman is shown travelling by broomstick or casting evil spells. Back then, people held allegations against
others for using this black magic, and, in turn, some societies conducted persecutions against such individuals. These persecuted, and often executed
individuals, were often said to be using their evil in worship of the Devil. Now that we see these ideas of black magic in children s books, it may appear that
these witch panics were extreme. Before we make assumptions about the accusers of witches, we must consider further details in attempt to understand their
underlying motivations to accept witchcraft beliefs. As Darren Oldridge argues, there may be multiple factors for this acceptance of witchcraft beliefs. One
motivation that is evident is the absorption of power among the persecutors. Through time, since the start of witchcraft, witches became responsible for more
and more issues, reflecting the span of influence persecutors held. It is important to consider the beginning of witchcraft prevalence. Since witchcraft
allegations were often associated with the Devil, it must have been a Christian phenomenon. In Europe, where many witch trials took place, Christianity was
extremely prevalent in the late Middle Ages and the early modern period. Therefore,

Narrative Voice In The Subway Poem
The narrative voice suggests that their mirth derives in part from their freedom to transgress differences such as those between the segregated communities that
characterize much of the city. The protagonists hope is infectious, but the narrative voice, reflecting on the thoughts of other passengers in the subway, remains
aware of the risks of their self proclaimed freedom, casting doubts on their futures. Their laughter leads to jealousy in the other passengers as they think back
to their own youths and the privileges they have lacked. The narrator imagines another rider thinking of these characters as free loaders (4); this rider is
reassured by thinking that life will get them hard some time (4). Such doubts resurface continually in

Designing A Ewas Approach For Modeling A Phe Essay
METHODS We used a EWAS approach for modeling a PHE as a complex network of interdependent determinants by inferring associations between multiple
and diverse factors and the incidence of microcephaly attributed to ZVI in Brazil municipalities during the first semester of 2016. Figure 1 summarizes the
steps of the modeling process we describe in this section. Figure 1. Methods Flowchart. After the root steps of data collection, integration and preprocessing
and model development , the third step of model analysis comprehends extraction and comparison of 4 subnetworks to test three morbidity hypotheses.
Subnetworks are identified by letters and comparisons between networks by lower case roman numerals. To build consistent data, we comprehensively
collected secondary open data from Brazil`s official web sites. Data collection included domains according to three scales and 18 factors in the WHO
conceptual framework of the social determinants of health (SDH) (18). We included a fourth scale for health results that included the incidence of ZVI related
microcephaly from the open data initiative of the Brazilian system of public health surveillance (Table 1). By the standard identifier of Brazil municipalities
(IBGE, Instituto Brasileiro de Geografia e Estatística), we integrated and initial set of more than 700 variables for 5570 municipalities. Preprocessing these
continuous, discrete and binary variables included identifying and replacing missing values according to

How Did the Consolidation of the British Empire and Its...
1. Introduction I assume that the time period to focus predominantly on in answering this question is the circa fifteen years from when Britain in 1760 emerged
victorious from the French and Indian War, and up to the events of the early 1770s that in the end led to the decisions at the Continental Congress in 1774;
skirmishes between colonial minutemen and British troops in early 1775; and the declaration of independence in 1776. However, I would contend that
throughout the gradual colonial expansion of the English and later (from 1707) British Empire at least up until the era discussed here there was a fluctuation
between more or less centralized control, and more or less efforts to centralize control, on behalf of either Crown or ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Further, the relative power of the British compared with other nations was never decisive, and other colonial powers were interested both in challenging British
claims, and in opening their exploits further into unchartered territories to especially the west and north west of the British territory. To avoid new alliances
between Indian nations and competing European states, and generally to avoid further aggravating the most influential of the Indian nations west of the
Appalachian mountain range, a proclamation line was made, forbidding further westward expansion by the colonial settlers, and securing Indian claims to the
land west of the mountains. And third, the continuing economic and political power struggle between European powers at the time, especially between France
and Britain and their respective allies, was also costly, and in part sought financed by the colonies. 4. Effects on the American colonist s way of life The effects
on the colonies of these policies were manifold. First, a ban on further expansion aggravated the colonials, especially the ones who had ventured to a continent
they thought of as having an unlimited access to land and opportunity. Moreover, to maintain territorial control, the British left troops in the colonies; these
were perceived by the colonials as something akin to a standing army, and thus a threat to their independence. Second, the introduction of several taxes, albeit

Japan American Culture Essay
Culture is defined in different ways throughout the region of the world, with different characteristics that define culture. In this paper I will define the meaning
of Japan s culture and describe Japan s common culture characteristics throughout their nation s physical geography, military conflict history, and weather
analysis. Culture is by the beliefs, customs, arts, a particular society, group, place or time such as music, theater, painting, their habits, and traditions. Like
ways of life for their way of thinking, behaving, or working. Japan is made up of four major islands along with over six thousand minor ones that cover
approximately 234,890 square miles. The four islands are Hokkaido, Honshu, Shikoku, and Kyushu, with the Pacific Ocean facing the entire eastern and
southern coastline. On the north and west side is the Sea of Okhotsk, the Sea of Japan, and the East China Sea. With Japan being surround by the ocean the
Japanese life is always oriented toward the ocean with the currents converge offshore create fertile and varied fishing grounds. Japan has a fascinating and

A Feminist Perspective On Women
All across the world women are being discriminated against for their gender. Feminism is the movement to combat this. Though there are many
misconstructions to what being a feminist means, Webster s Dictionary defines feminism as the theory of the political, economic, and social equality of the
sexes. Feminism is not about one gender being above the other but allowing both to be equal in all ways. Sexism is expressed in varies different ways. In
countries like America, the sexism faced is shown through things such as the wage gap and gender roles. In other countries, however, such as Indian and
China, the sexism faced is more extreme and the women are in more sever danger.
Some people do not believe there is a need for a feminist movement, and that women have equal rights. One huge issue that women face is the wage gap.
People argue that laws such as the Equal Pay Act has gotten rid of the need for women s suffrage, but a wage gap still exists. For every dollar a man makes, the
average white woman makes 78 cents. African American women make 64 cents and Hispanic women averagely make a mere 56 cents to the man s dollar.
Something that affects women s earnings is lower work hours and their years with zero earnings due to family care. Women workers in their prime earning
years earned 62% less than men, or only $0.38 for every dollar men earned. During that 15 year period, the average woman earned only $273,592 while the
average man earned $722,693 (in 1999 dollars).

Causes Of The League Of Nations Mandate
League of Nations Mandate
In 1919, the victorious allied powers established the league of nations, after defeating the German, Austrian and Turkish empires in the First World War. The
league s main goal was to promote international cooperation and to achieve peace and security. Mandates spread over the world were divided into categories,
based on their political and economical development groups A, B, and C. Former German territories in the pacific became class C mandates, as they were
considered the least developed and therefore best administered under the laws of the mandatory as integral portions of its territory . The League awarded the
Class C mandate of Western Samoa to New Zealand in 1920.
Mau Movement (Black Saturday) Causes/Event
Like most colonial powers, New Zealand paternalistic policies towards the Samoans, in result of this, officials felt a duty or favor towards Samoa in order to
modernise the Samoan society by developing the health, economic, and education systems throughout the Island, without full understanding of the people or
their culture. Because of this attitude held by New Zealanders, Samoa began to hold great resentment towards the New Zealand ruling of Samoa. (Quote by
one of the administrators at the time: They were a splendid but backward Native race, with no thought of tomorrow, and no vision as to the future of these
islands ) One of the most passionate administrators was major general George Richardson , at first being accepted by the

  • 2. Just Poverty In Just Mercy, By Bryan Stevenson In our country, hundreds of people are apprehended every day for misdemeanors crimes. Our local justice system will then charge these individuals with fines that can be as much as $2,000 or more. Failure to pay this said fine can immediately result in potential jail time. Yet, if you can pay your bail, you will spend no more than 24 hours in a local facility. Many of these people are poor, while the remainder of these people tends to be middle to upper class citizens. The 14th Amendment is set in place to protect citizens from being denied the equal protection of the laws . This statement requires all branches of government to treat everyone equally. In Just Mercy, Bryan Stevenson shares stories about the unjust treatment many of his clients received at the hands of the American Justice System. Many of which were poor, lower class citizens who had committed a crime. All of which were charged wrongfully. Bryan Stevenson was a lawyer based out of Montgomery, Alabama. He helped many of these people get an honest, fair sentence. Through the publication of his book, he has educated many on the reality of our prison systems in America. He shares his firsthand accounts of children being charged as adults, innocent men being charged for crimes they had clearly not had any involvement with, and women living in poverty being charged with murder for burying their stillborn children. All of these cases had one thing in common: poverty. Poverty is defined as the state of being ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Women in a Greek city/state known as Athens, were not educated, and were treated the same if not worse than slaves (Athenian, 2005). In Athens, Women lived in a society completely dominated by men (O Pry, 2012). This all ended when the women of Sparta (a Greek city/state) were seen overcoming these issues. Both Athenian and Spartan women still had no political rights, but they could give their own political opinions to men (O Pry,2012). The women in Athens couldn t leave their homes, therefore they couldn t talk to men. In Sparta the women ran all estates and had all rights to go out in public (Fleck, 2007). In Athens, Greece No women, foreigners, or slaves were considered citizens (O Pry, 2012). This changed in Sparta when the women came out ruling their city/state. Spartans educated them much in the same way as the boys attending school (O Pry, 2012). While in Athens, had little to no education. In Athens no women had a choice of who they married. This was all decided by the father. The women in Athens did have the right to divorce, but had to get permission from her husband first, and had the chance of losing custody of her children. In Sparta women had the right to marry and divorce as needed. If a woman s husband was at war to long they had the right to remarry (Athenian, 2005). This was something researchers have never seen before causing them to become very confused on this situation. Even though Sparta came out looking strong they had their downfalls. When the population of children started to go down, because the expenses were going up, the helots came in to attack (Like they did every year). The helots defeated them due to the military downsize. This caused Spartans to believe women were the cause, Spartans lost all the land they conquered in Messenia, and were now just like all the regular Greek city/states. The Past, Present and Future of Computer Hacking The Past, Present and Future of Computer Hacking Abstract Society relies heavily on technology for many things, but our use of technology opens us up to become victims of cybercrimes, like computer hacking. The first hackers appeared in the nineteen sixties and hackers have continued to make progress since then. People hack for a variety of reasons including ego, fun, knowledge, and profit. There are currently over 40,000 bulletins worldwide (Lilley 2002, 16). The United States Congress passed the Computer Fraud and Abuse Act in 1986. The Act recognized the unauthorized access of federal interest computer with the intention to commit fraudulent theft and the altering of information to inflict malicious damage as felony offences (Lilley 2002, 16). During the Gulf War two teenaged Dutch hackers copied information from the Defense Department systems. Although the US General Accounting Office said that the information was unclassified, it was still sensitive and the teenagers tried to sell the information to the Iraqis. One might ask what the reward is in hacking if any. Some hackers do what they do for knowledge and ego, while others do it for fun and profit. Learning to crack the codes of different and more complex websites provides hackers with more knowledge and tricks that can help them make names for themselves as elite hackers in the hacking community. On one hand, their relationship is so enviable that their tacit cooperation is the key to their success in solving the blue baby puzzle that has gotten the best of other proficient doctors. On the other hand, Dr. Blalock s stern, adventurous, authoritative, and indifferent mentoring styles are controversial. The Between Camp Four And The Summit Many factors contributed to the bottlenecks between Camp Four and the summit, including: The fact that no Sherpas left ahead of the climbers to fix ropes to aid in climbing above the Balcony, which left the climbers waiting while Beidleman, a guide, fixed the ropes; the Taiwanese team, who were climbing very slowly and all together, making it impossible to pass them, therefore creating delays for the climbers behind them; and the fact that once the ascent had begun, Hall s Sherpas were not eager to assist in fixing the ropes, presumably because they were angry that Fischer s Sherpas were not sharing the workload as had been originally planned. Krakauer was critical of Boukreev in this section of the climb because Boukreev was not using supplemental oxygen or a backpack, both of which Krakauer felt he should have had in the case of an emergency, as Boukreev was a guide, and charged with helping and protecting the clients, an ability which Krakauer thought was inhibited by this lack of oxygen and supplies, especially considering how much the high altitude and thin air affects the ability to think clearly. Just before reaching the summit, despite the fact that he was having difficulty breathing, Krakauer was actually quite calm but disoriented, and relatively excited about the prospect of reaching the summit. However, at the moment of his summit, he did not feel the elation that he expected, but rather apprehension and dread about what he knew to be a difficult descent. Chapter ... One s frame of reference coincides with one s behaviour and the consequences thereof. Therefore, a frame of reference is fixed but one needs to be sensitive and accept individual differences in frames of reference. This paper aims to address the frame of reference of Pick n Pay s chairman and joint managing director, Mr Raymond Ackerman. The arguments presented in this paper are my own with a theoretical basis from the work of Bluen (1987). My interpretation of Mr Ackerman s frame of reference will be presented in relation to the organisation, conflict, collective bargaining and trade ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This reiterates the notion of balance of power. Collective bargaining The ability for positions to reach a consensus is reached through collective bargaining. Bluen (1987) infers that the pluralist frame of reference does not seek to remove conflict but to manage it. Mr Ackerman acknowledged the existence of conflict and tried to manage it by sending his negotiating team to resolve the conflict and end the strike. Mr Ackerman has a pluralist view because he believes the issue should have been resolved during negotiations. He even went as far as awarding greater bargaining flexibility to the negotiating team. The mere fact that Mr Ackerman was so determined to resolve the conflict though means of collective bargaining should eliminate the likelihood of a unitary frame of reference. Collective bargaining, an equitable balance of power, and essentially the aim to compromise confirm that Mr Ackerman holds a pluralist view on industrial relations. Mr Ackerman fought to reach a consensus for personal and economic reasons. The breakthrough to reach a consensus was achieved after he delivered his speech. He appealed to the opposing union members by focusing on personal matters. This led to the agreement of a negotiation. Mr Ackerman considered going up on his agreement and the union considered going down on theirs. No suppression or unilateral decision making occurred. In ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Irregular Warfare (IW) Intro: Though conventional and irregular warfare (IW) are both forms of warfare with the desired objective of affecting the opposition s government, the means by which they achieve that objective differ greatly. Preparation for such a conflict would ideally focus on tactics suited for a conventional military. Meanwhile, preparing for success against an irregular threat would conversely focus on non traditional and indirect means and skills intended to earn or degrade trust and support from the target population. The scarcity of organ donations in America is the main reason there is a sudden diversion of possible source of organs. Beginning with donations of organs from cadaver to living donors, different strategies sprung just to reduce the said shortage; as a result of this quest, sale and paid organs is one of the approaches that gathered too much attention from the public. The controversy of paid organ donations entered the limelight when the state of Wisconsin offered incentives to the living donors. This law, which was created in the year 2004, grants tax deduction and repayment of donation expenses such as travel cost and lost earnings. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Moreover, it also violates human dignity because it treats the organs and human body parts as commodities. Not to mention the fact that such action weakens and demoted altruism. However, the real picture of compensated organ donations is actually the opposite of unethical and self interest ; it promotes life and therefore regarded as a good and moral deed. Organ Donation s Supply and Demand Knowing the rate of supply and demand of organ donation helps in establishing a clear background about the issue. For instance, Monti (2009) explained the reality of supply and demand of kidneys. The supply of this organ coming from deceased and altruistic donors are not enough to support the demand of those individuals who are in need. Approximately there are 73,000 people who wait for kidney donations and 18 of those who are in the wait list will die by tomorrow. Accordingly, the list is being added by 6,000 individuals every year. An individual has to wait for five years before he/she can get an organ donation. The facts and figures presented by Monti shows that there is a big gap between the supply and demand of organ donations . The Center for Bioethics (2004) gave supplementary details on the issue of organ shortage. In their article ethics of organ transplantation they said that United Network for Organ Sharing or UNOS keeps a comprehensive figure on the present status of people who need organ transplants and presently there more than ... Whether it was an unusual last name, big ears, or funny freckles there was something that made us insecure or self conscious. I can remember being made fun of for my last name Hartung . Kids used to ask me if my tongue was a heart and I would begrudgingly answer saying that Hartung actually meant royalty in German, which was a lie but it was what my parents told me to say. In The Hundred Dresses , Eleanor Estes illustrates these concepts that still hold true today because no matter how time goes on children will always be made fun of for ailments they cannot help. She explains how putting others down due to things that are out of their control, such as a funny last name like Hartung , will never make you feel better about yourself. Eleanor Estes goes on to show how you should stand up for people because being a bystander makes you part of the problem, something that adults and kids alike struggle with today. Lastly, she shows how everyone is unique and although there may be something a little different about someone that does not mean they do not have other talents that make them special in the best way possible. After graduating in 1964 Valdez joined the San Francisco Mime Troupe, from which he gained an appreciation of agitprop theater, which makes use of political agitation and propaganda to protest social injustice. Valdez returned to Delano in 1965 to assist César Chávez and the United Farmworkers Union in their efforts to unionize migrant workers. There Valdez organized the strikers into a performing group to dramatize the exploitation of farmworkers and to demonstrate the necessity of unionization for their financial survival. • 22. Istj Case Study After taking the survey I learned that I was an Introverted Sensing Thinking Judging or ISTJ. ISTJ s are known for keeping the rules and not liking things that have unclear rules. They also hate when things or people have inconsistencies, or when people do not keep up their end of an agreement. They love being apart of organized groups such as government, schools, the military, and churches because they all have a set way of doing things and do not sway in their beliefs. Their social skills are excellent because they are precise and to the point. Feelings are something that ISTJ s have a hard time discussing, because feelings are random and out of their control. When ISTJ s are learning something it has to be important and practical for bettering ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 23. Essay on Role of Women in Edmund Spenser s The Faerie Queene Role of Women in Edmund Spenser s The Faerie Queene Edmund Spenser in his epic romance, The Faerie Queene, invents and depicts a wide array of female figures. Some of these women, such as Una and Caelia, are generally shown as faithful, virtuous and overall lovely creatures. Other feminine characters, such as Errour, Pride, and Duessa are false, lecherous and evil. This might seem to be the end of Spenser s categorization of women; that they are either good or bad. Yet upon closer examination one finds that Spenser seems to be struggling to portray women more honestly, to depict the complex reality of woman (Berger, 92). Spenser does not simply idealize women or the feminine viewpoint as he could easily do ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Upon seeing Redcrosse being strangled by Errour s vile tail, Una provides directions saying Now now Sir knight, shew what ye bee, / Add faith unto your force, and be not faint: / Strangle her, else she sure will strangle thee (1.19.164 66). With Una s encouragement and guidance Redcrosse is able to free himself from Errour s grasp and slay the snake creature. Again in the third canto, Spenser describes Una as a brave and powerful creature, She of nought affrayd, / Through woods and wastnesse wide travels alone (3.3.25 6). It seems that Una is perfectly in control of her various situations, and that Spenser is depicting women as being capable of being both beautiful and chaste as well as strong and confident. Una is also portrayed with a religious power as she is a spiritual guide for Redcrosse. Redcrosse s chief faults are a weak faith and a corresponding excessive confidence in his own virtue (Broaddus, 9). Redcrosse in turn relies almost completely on Una to guide him on the righteous path. As Una and Redcrosse begin their journey together, Redcrosse lustily pricks across the plains, while Una takes the more spiritually appropriate, and slower, transportation. Spenser writes of Una: A lovely Ladie rode him faire beside, Upon a lowly Asse more white then snow, Yet she much whiter, but the same did hide Under a vele, that wimpled was full ... It is drastic because when Hulu was announced back in 2005 the cable companies weren t too happy about another platform getting all the views. Now they are on board with cable cutting. And that new, live TV service just got a ton more channels: CNN, TBS, Cartoon Network, TNT, and more. Not a bad haul! Alongside that buy in is the guarantee of Time Warner s many TV channels and the content they produce to Hulu s live TV offering. Time Warner is far from the first major TV content creator to hook up with Hulu s live TV service. NBCUniversal, Disney, and Fox are all in talks with Hulu to offer channels on the new service. There are still lots of questions about the new service, like when exactly it will launch and how much it ll cost. Rumors put the service at between $30 and $40/month, with an expected launch in early 2017. The two articles are related because they depict Hulu s future and their reshaping of their ... • 26. Motivation For Witchcraft Throughout the sixteenth and seventeenth century, witchcraft was widespread throughout various areas of the world. Today, witchcraft may be subtly displayed in children s books, where a witch often an elderly woman is shown travelling by broomstick or casting evil spells. Back then, people held allegations against others for using this black magic, and, in turn, some societies conducted persecutions against such individuals. These persecuted, and often executed individuals, were often said to be using their evil in worship of the Devil. Now that we see these ideas of black magic in children s books, it may appear that these witch panics were extreme. Before we make assumptions about the accusers of witches, we must consider further details in attempt to understand their underlying motivations to accept witchcraft beliefs. As Darren Oldridge argues, there may be multiple factors for this acceptance of witchcraft beliefs. One motivation that is evident is the absorption of power among the persecutors. Through time, since the start of witchcraft, witches became responsible for more and more issues, reflecting the span of influence persecutors held. It is important to consider the beginning of witchcraft prevalence. Since witchcraft allegations were often associated with the Devil, it must have been a Christian phenomenon. In Europe, where many witch trials took place, Christianity was extremely prevalent in the late Middle Ages and the early modern period. Therefore, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Narrative Voice In The Subway Poem The narrative voice suggests that their mirth derives in part from their freedom to transgress differences such as those between the segregated communities that characterize much of the city. The protagonists hope is infectious, but the narrative voice, reflecting on the thoughts of other passengers in the subway, remains aware of the risks of their self proclaimed freedom, casting doubts on their futures. Their laughter leads to jealousy in the other passengers as they think back to their own youths and the privileges they have lacked. The narrator imagines another rider thinking of these characters as free loaders (4); this rider is reassured by thinking that life will get them hard some time (4). • 28. Designing A Ewas Approach For Modeling A Phe Essay METHODS We used a EWAS approach for modeling a PHE as a complex network of interdependent determinants by inferring associations between multiple and diverse factors and the incidence of microcephaly attributed to ZVI in Brazil municipalities during the first semester of 2016. Figure 1 summarizes the steps of the modeling process we describe in this section. Figure 1. Methods Flowchart. After the root steps of data collection, integration and preprocessing and model development , the third step of model analysis comprehends extraction and comparison of 4 subnetworks to test three morbidity hypotheses. Subnetworks are identified by letters and comparisons between networks by lower case roman numerals. To build consistent data, we comprehensively collected secondary open data from Brazil`s official web sites. Data collection included domains according to three scales and 18 factors in the WHO conceptual framework of the social determinants of health (SDH) (18). We included a fourth scale for health results that included the incidence of ZVI related microcephaly from the open data initiative of the Brazilian system of public health surveillance (Table 1). By the standard identifier of Brazil municipalities (IBGE, Instituto Brasileiro de Geografia e Estatística), we integrated and initial set of more than 700 variables for 5570 municipalities. Introduction I assume that the time period to focus predominantly on in answering this question is the circa fifteen years from when Britain in 1760 emerged victorious from the French and Indian War, and up to the events of the early 1770s that in the end led to the decisions at the Continental Congress in 1774; skirmishes between colonial minutemen and British troops in early 1775; and the declaration of independence in 1776. However, I would contend that throughout the gradual colonial expansion of the English and later (from 1707) British Empire at least up until the era discussed here there was a fluctuation between more or less centralized control, and more or less efforts to centralize control, on behalf of either Crown or ... Further, the relative power of the British compared with other nations was never decisive, and other colonial powers were interested both in challenging British claims, and in opening their exploits further into unchartered territories to especially the west and north west of the British territory. To avoid new alliances between Indian nations and competing European states, and generally to avoid further aggravating the most influential of the Indian nations west of the Appalachian mountain range, a proclamation line was made, forbidding further westward expansion by the colonial settlers, and securing Indian claims to the land west of the mountains. And third, the continuing economic and political power struggle between European powers at the time, especially between France and Britain and their respective allies, was also costly, and in part sought financed by the colonies. 4. Effects on the American colonist s way of life The effects on the colonies of these policies were manifold. First, a ban on further expansion aggravated the colonials, especially the ones who had ventured to a continent they thought of as having an unlimited access to land and opportunity. Moreover, to maintain territorial control, the British left troops in the colonies; these were perceived by the colonials as something akin to a standing army, and thus a threat to their independence. • 31. A Feminist Perspective On Women All across the world women are being discriminated against for their gender. Feminism is the movement to combat this. Though there are many misconstructions to what being a feminist means, Webster s Dictionary defines feminism as the theory of the political, economic, and social equality of the sexes. Feminism is not about one gender being above the other but allowing both to be equal in all ways. Sexism is expressed in varies different ways. In countries like America, the sexism faced is shown through things such as the wage gap and gender roles. In other countries, however, such as Indian and China, the sexism faced is more extreme and the women are in more sever danger. Some people do not believe there is a need for a feminist movement, and that women have equal rights. One huge issue that women face is the wage gap. People argue that laws such as the Equal Pay Act has gotten rid of the need for women s suffrage, but a wage gap still exists. For every dollar a man makes, the average white woman makes 78 cents. African American women make 64 cents and Hispanic women averagely make a mere 56 cents to the man s dollar. Something that affects women s earnings is lower work hours and their years with zero earnings due to family care. Women workers in their prime earning years earned 62% less than men, or only $0.38 for every dollar men earned. During that 15 year period, the average woman earned only $273,592 while the average man earned $722,693 (in 1999 dollars). ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 32. Causes Of The League Of Nations Mandate League of Nations Mandate In 1919, the victorious allied powers established the league of nations, after defeating the German, Austrian and Turkish empires in the First World War. The league s main goal was to promote international cooperation and to achieve peace and security. Mandates spread over the world were divided into categories, based on their political and economical development groups A, B, and C. Former German territories in the pacific became class C mandates, as they were considered the least developed and therefore best administered under the laws of the mandatory as integral portions of its territory . The League awarded the Class C mandate of Western Samoa to New Zealand in 1920. Because of this attitude held by New Zealanders, Samoa began to hold great resentment towards the New Zealand ruling of Samoa.
