2. Audience
18-24 year olds enjoy shopping, many late teens are into their fashion and
therefore love to go into shops and look for new clothes. This is something
that all genders can be interested in which therefore makes this more
mainstream.
One thing that is common for young adults is social media, this means that
in terms of advertising it will grasp their attention more if it advertised
through social media. In recent studies 98% of 18-24 year olds own a
smartphone and use it daily. This fact clearly shows that advertisement
through social media is the most efficient method because that is where
98% of the young adults are during the day. Advertisements will be
different based on where certain people are located in, for example
depending on which geodemographic people are in they will receive
different advertisements. Young adults in York will maybe receive ads about
new jobs that may become available with higher income.
With young adults having a different socioeconomic status it will
potentially separate the market. This is because young adults will all be
making different amounts of income based on their occupation.

3. Audience
A-Guide-To-Social-Media-Platforms-and-Demographics.pdf (lse.ac.uk)
Young adults like to stay active and most like to explore doing
new things, People aged 23-24 like to travel to new places and
take pictures. This is where apps like Instagram and snapchat
play a part in people's everyday life, 59% of adults aged 18-29
use Instagram, therefore I intend to entertain young adults
using Instagram as I feel it will grab and retain the attention of
young adults.
Apps such as Tik Tok are also massively populated by young
adults everyday, this is a great way to grab the attention of
young adults because nearly everyone is using the app daily. A
reason as to why my target audience might enjoy Tik Tok is
because it’s a place for young adults to show their day to day
life or creative skills and talents. Some adults focus on trying to
make a difference and through apps like Tik Tok they can do so.
4. Audience
• Regarding physcographics there are many adults that are socially conscious, what I mean
by that is certain groups of adults are concerned about how their actions affect the world we
live in today. This will potentially effect my idea as people may not want to use transport all
over York as its not environmentally friendly. There are many young adults that like to speak
to their minds and sometimes there is not much of a filter, therefore if something is not
environmentally friendly for example there will be questions asked and can sometimes make
things a bit more challenging.
• For my idea I was planning to do something related to geocaching, I feel as if this is a
perfect activity for young adults in York. With minimal activities available for the younger
generation, I wanted to create something that would combine the use of social media and
also going out and exploring. One benefit with my idea is that it will be environmentally
friendly because all locations will be located within the same area and all within walking
distance. There will also be health benefits to my game as there will be walking involved and
requires people to actually go outside apposed to being indoors the whole day.
6. Geocaching
• Geocaching is an outdoor activity that includes
people downloading an app and finding a box with
special items in it, the game is similar to hide and
seek and has great health benefits because of the
‘outdoor’ element. The players will have to use their
navigational techniques in order to find the box. Once
players have found the box they can put something in
for others to see when they find the same box.
• Geocaching has inspired me heavily for my idea as I
was wanting to keep the exploration element in the
game but have players take pictures of the location
that I will give clues to find. I also took inspiration for
the treasure hunt element.
• One problem that Geocaching might have is that non
players may find the box if it is not placed back in its
original position which could result players not
finding it. Another problem geocaching faces is that
because anyone can play there will most likely be
young teenagers who will mess with the box and ruin
the experience for others.
7. Instagram
• Instagram is the second most downloaded app in the year
2021, the app focuses on people sharing their day to day
lives with others. Many people who use the app want to
make their photos look unique and appealing for people
to see. Almost all of the attention on young adults will be
on Instagram as it’s a perfect space for them to share their
lives. Instagram is also a place for people to gain
recognition and a following. This will therefore mean that
whoever wins in my game they will potentially gain more
followers than the rest.
• This is where Instagram links into my idea as I am wanting
people to take pictures of the locations that they visit and
whoever can create the best photo using different editing
techniques and etc will win a prize at the end. My game
will also be a race and whoever can find all the locations
first will also win a prize. I want the activity to be
something where all the players are keeping active and fit.
9. Treasure Hunt York
• Treasure hunt York allows people to take in the fun
side to York, people come too see all the tourist
attractions however they make it fun because there is
certain things that you have to look out for and find.
They know that people want to come to York to see
the lovely streets, architecture and the thousands of
years of history but they want to make it an enjoyable
experience seeing them all, they claim by adding an
element of exploration people will enjoy the activities
more because they are finding the hidden gems within
York.
• ‘THY’ is similar to my idea because of the adventure
aspect of York, I am wanting younger people to
experience York in a fun way and by allowing them to
try find certain locations within a given time limit I feel
as if it will be a fun and unique experience for young
adults.
