Mackenzie Duncan
@WISEinWV –
The Wise in WV is working to institutionalize sex education in WV schools in an effort to reduce
unintended pregnancy & STD rates. Wise is West Virginia is based out of Charleston, West Virginia.
Wise in West Virginia has a website also wefree.org. I personally enjoy following wise is West Virginia.
The twitter is very informational and encourages students in West Virginia to make to the right
decisions. The twitter makes for a good educational page to educate students on the dangers of sex,
common STDs and just consequences. Wise in West Virginia also retweets other institutes that also
encourage safe sex and sex education in schools to lower pregnancy and STD rates.
Tom Altepeter @tomaltepeter-
Tom Altepeter is a former elementary principal from Loveland, Colorado. Tom describes himself
as a father, sports fanatic and Jesus junkie. Tom states that he is passionate about intercultural
responsiveness and social justice. Tom joined twitter in June or 2010. Toms tweets are mostly about
education but he does post about sports. I like that Tom is not solely posting about education. Tom
doesn’t post as frequent as much as the others that I have followed from this video. Tom also retweets
frequently.
Jerry Blumengarten @cybraryman1-
Jerry Blumengarten describes himself as an educator, speaker, writer, social media storyteller
for PRwithPanache! Jerry has a webpage and is the moderator of #Edchat. Jerry is from Lakeland,
Florida and has been a member of twitter since 2009. Jerry has 96 thousand tweets and roughly 52
thousand followers. Jerry tags his website in his tweets. I like that Jerry also has a website. Twitters 140
character limit can be intimidating when you are trying to get a point across. Jerry hashtags in all of his
tweets to #edchat, so people can refer to the rest of Jerrys followers who are tweeting about the same
topic. Jerry’s twitter is a little hard to follow but for the most part has a lot of helpful information.
Eric Sheninger @NMHS_Principal /@E_Sheninger–
Eric Sheninger describes himself in his twitter bio as the Senior Fellow at @RigorRelevance and
the Kindergarten through 12th grade Director of Teach & Innovation in Spotswood, New Jersey. Eric is
also a Principal, learner, author, and speaker. His bio states that all of his “thoughts” are his own. Eric’s
initial twitter name that was in the video has changed and he is now @E_Sheninger. Eric has been a
member of twitter since 2009. Eric doesn’t follow many people but has over 73,000 videos. Eric is a
very frequent tweeter he has 37.3 thousand tweets. Eric shares many websites daily and different
articles about education. I like that he shares things to gets different feedback from different followers.
Eric also follows @GwynethJones from the video and has recently retweeted her and responded to
some of her educational tweets.
Josh Stumpenhorst @Stumpteacher –
Josh Stumpenhorst describes himself on twitter as a father, husband, teacher, blogger, runner,
presenter, learner and disrupter. Josh says he is always looking to be better and stay relevant. Josh also
posted on twitter that he was the 2012 IL Teacher of the Year. Josh joined the twitter world and 2010
and has been constantly tweeting since. I like that Josh is a frequent tweeter. He is constantly tweeting
about education and retweeting great resourceful videos. Recently Josh has been tweeting about
#studentchat, #studentchat is aspiring quotes from students. From Josh’s tweets he seems like a very
down to earth teacher who genuinely cares for his students, one of Josh’s most recent tweets was a goal
for that day “High five at least 10 students but be sure to give “knucks” to that 1 who picks his nose ”.
Josh seems fun and compassionate to his students. I didn’t particularly dislike anything about Josh’s
twitter. Everyone on twitter has a disadvantage of the 140 character limit.
