Introduction
Definition

•   Micro-blogging is a very social method
    of communication that appeals to our
    inherently inquisitive human nature.
    We’re social beings who like to know
    what other people a doing, reading,
    writing, watching, listening to etc.! It’s
    open, informal and spontaneous, all of
    which encourages interaction.
Purpose

Users and organizations can set up
their own micro-blogging service: free
and open source software is available
for this purpose. Hosted micro-
blogging platforms are also available
for commercial and organizational use.
Twitter

Twitter is an online social networking service and micro- blogging service that
   enables its users to send and read text-based posts of up to 140 characters,
  known as "tweets". It was created in March 2006 by Jack Dorsey and launched
 that July. The service rapidly gained worldwide popularity, with over 140 million
  active users as of 2012, generating over 340 millions tweets daily and handling
                       over 1.6 billion search queries per day.

How to Create an Account ?!

•   Go to https://Twitter.com/signup                                    e!!
•   The first field will ask you to enter your full name.   or click her
•   Create your own username and the website will
    tell you if the username is available for you to use
    it or not.
•   Enter a password, one of your own. Make sure
    your password includes numbers and letters, not
    only letters !!
•   The minute you find the right username and the
    right password enter your email to continue.
•   Fill in the “Captcha” to prove that you’re not a
    robot!!
•   Select sources that grabs your attention.
•   YAAY, YOU’RE DONE !!! YOU HAVE CREATED
    YOUR OWN TWITTER ACCOUNT.
Twitter termenology:
Familiar Terms in Twitter

 • Tweets: Each twitter user’s updates or posts.
 • @ Symbol: referring to or mentioning a Twitter user, and it
   should be added before the username. For example
   @Tweet2012guide
 • Retweet or RT: is when you share the tweet of one Twitter
   user with all of your Twitter followers.
 • Reply: is when you respond to a tweet from a specific user.
 • Direct Messages: is a message that is sent privately to another
   Twitter user.
 • Follower: If you find interesting Twitter users "follow them" to
   subscribe to their tweets. they can follow you back but it’s not
   necessary.
 • # Hash tags: are words or acronyms that begin with the
   number sign. They are used when many people are tweeting
   about the same topic or the same event, and it’s often atop
   trending topics list. For example #Dubai.
Some Twitter Features

•   Who to follow: shows twitter accounts that your
    other Twitter users follow.
•   Twitter for business: This gets you directly in
    contact with a glossary of terms, best practices,
    case studies that are related to business.
•   Advertising on Twitter: You can get started with
    advertising on Twitter and learn more about
    Promoted Trends, Promoted Tweets and even
    Promoted Accounts.
•   Search: you can search for a keyword in a topic
    or anything that comes to your mind and you can
    save the search.

    communicate with students
