Bulgarian revolutionaries
organized uprisings to liberate
Bulgaria from the Turkish
oppression.
9. The First Tarnovo Uprising broke out
in 1598 near Tarnovo. The uprising
was the first organized act of
Bulgarian resistance during the
Ottoman rule, after the final
conquest of the Bulgarian lands.

11. The Second Tarnovo Uprising was a Bulgarian
revolt against the Ottoman rule in 1686 led by
the boyar Rostislav Stratimirovich from Veliko
Tarnovo.
