Turkey’s Organic Agriculture in the EU Accession Period

Ege Ihracatci Birlikleri

Turkey has taken steps to align its organic agriculture legislation and practices with the European Union. Key steps include passing an Organic Farming Law in 2004 and related regulations in 2005 and 2010 to harmonize with EU regulations. Turkey also implemented projects to develop organic agriculture and build institutional capacity for organic oversight from 2005-2007. Recent projects have focused on improving dialogue between Turkey and the EU in various agriculture sectors.
