Funeral Cover
Two things are certain in life taxes and death. However, we can deal with taxes, but losing a
loved one is the most painful feeling in the world. Death is not a topic we spend too much time
thinking about, because of which, when the inevitable strikes to our loved ones, we find
ourselves with not having enough cash for the funeral arrangement. Funeral cover, also called
funeral insurance, are designed to offer your family with money to pay for the funeral
arrangements. As the cost of funeral arrangements is going up every year, buying a funeral cover
is the obvious and best choice. But still funeral cover is not a widely known concept. Not to
worry, here are some of the benefits of purchasing a funeral cover. 1. Get cash quickly Having

The Wife Of Bath, By Geoffrey Chaucer
The Wife of Bath, emphasizing The Prologue of the Wife of Bath s Tale and the The Prologue in
Geoffrey Chaucer s Canterbury Tales, is an example of the Middle English concept that male
authors reflect misogynistic ideals of society onto female characters. With the Wife of Bath, she is
a fictional character, as told by Chaucer, going on a Pilgrimage, with constant ridicule for her
sexuality and multiple marriages. Chaucer portrays her as a previously battered wifewho uses her
sexual promiscuity as a way of control. He uses his progressive views to give the Wife of Bath
power, but also reflects societal views from the period through responses and actions taken during
her life. Although the abilities of women progressed in the Middle... Show more content on

This subtle judgment alludes to the importance of her sexual habits and her compromised chastity,
but also objectifies her as well. The narrator continues on by pointing out the fact that she had been
married five times, an atypical habit for women during this time, which continues to oversexualize
her character. Later in Canterbury Tales, during The Prologue of the Wife of Bath , she addresses
the abnormal amount of marriages she has had. She recognizes that Jesus is said to frown upon
more than one marriage, but she quickly backlashes those accusations and claims no word of
what the number was to be/ then why not marry two or even eight? And why speak evil of this
married state? ( The Wife of Bath s Prologue Chaucer 259). She also claims that she would gladly
take a sixth husband, and, due to her interpretation of Bible, it is completely acceptable to marry as
many men as she wants.
At the end of his introduction to the wife of Bath, the narrator points out that she is adventurous
and well traveled, an accomplishment unfamiliar to most women. The narrator simply states and
she had thrice been to Jerusalem,/ seen many strange rivers and passed over them;/ she d been to
Rome and also to Boulogne,/ St. James of Compostella and cologne,/ and she was skilled in
wandering by the way ( TP Chaucer 15). Even though her travels are unusual for women of the
period , they are quickly said without any

The Market Economy Marge Piercy
The Market Economy was a poem written by Marge Piercy in 1973. The publishing of The
Market Economy could have been influenced by a couple of factors. First, was how Piercy lived
during the time that capitalism was first introduced, and new markets and means of wealth and
prosperity were being created. Next, The Market Economy was published after the start of the
1970 s recession in the U.S., which could have had some influence on the purpose of this poem.
To be simple, the poem is very negative and is about the negativity of Capitalist America and
how bad it is for the environment and for our health. Piercy wrote her poem in the style of free
verse. Consistently throughout the poem there no signs of rhyming or meter. Piercy was very
direct with her poem. In The market economy, she did not favor the use of similes or other
literary devices. One of few literary devices used was the use of the name smog city. One google
search later, and pictures of large cities with smokestacks pumping out metric tons of smoke into the
air gives explanation to the term smog city. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
She demonstrated this within the first 10 lines of the poem, when she writes, you can have

This is a good choice because she demonstrated how Americans had access to newer and easier
clothing materials and cups, but these new materials were harmful to us, and we didn t care about
the toxins we were consuming. One more section that describes this is, suppose someone offered
you a frozen precooked dinner every night for ten years but at the end your colon dies. This just
goes to show how simplifying our lives can damage our health in the long

Sound Connections Chapter Summary
Chapter 3 TONAL AND RHYTHM SYLLABLE SYSTEMS
Amber Hall
MUSE 100
Dr. Palmer
RT 2
The third chapter of Don P. Ester s book, Sound Connections, introduces many systems for teaching
pitch and rhythm. The chapter discusses the benefits and disadvantages of the many systems, such
as, Ester starts by introducing his idea of the criteria for selecting effective syllable systems. One of
his many points is, The syllables must connect very efficiently with the aural syntax of music,
allowing the learner to easily link syllables to patterns before encountering notation. The next being
The syllables must eventually link to musical symbols in a practical and intuitive manner. The last
being, The syllables should be appropriate for use with all ages. Ester also outlines specific
guidelines for tonal and rhythmic systems that vary from each other. The most successful systems
chosen by Ester meet these criteria points, and are outlined as to why they are the most successful.

As Ester explains both of these methods, he is quick to point out the flaws and show why they
are no longer used today. The first method does not cover the primary focus of reinforcing
specific letter names, while the second method allows incorrect rhythm. There is a German
version that has single syllables, but it does not correlate with English flats or sharps. Another
flaw quickly mentioned by Ester, is the fact that a different syllable pattern has to be sung for each
tonic triad associated with the fifteen key signatures, making it nearly impossible for beginner level
students to comprehend. This clearly does not meet the criteria of being appropriate for all

Joker and Batman Essay
Batman (originally referred to as the Bat Man and still sometimes as the Batman) is a DC
Comics fictional superhero who first appeared in Detective Comics #27 in May 1939. He has
since become, along with Superman and Spider Man, one of the world s most recognized
superheroes.[1] Batman was co created by artist Bob Kane and writer Bill Finger, although only
Kane receives official credit for the character. Batmans secret identity is Bruce Wayne, billionaire
industrialist, playboy, and philanthropist. Witnessing the murder of his parents as a child leads him
to train himself to the peak of physical and intellectual perfection, don a costume, and fight crime.

Finger, like Joe Shuster, Jerry Siegel, and some other creators during and after the Golden Age
of Comic Books, would resent National s denying him the money and credit that, he felt, he was
owed for his creations. At the time of Finger s death, in 1974, he had not been officially credited
as a co creator of the character. Kane himself, however, in later years willingly acknowledged
Finger s contributions to the character while also insisting on his own role. [5]

Batman story, The Case of the Chemical Syndicate, appeared in Detective Comics #27, cover

Batman was originally written in the style of the pulps [6] and this influence was evident with
Batman showing little remorse over killing or maiming criminals. The Bat Man was a breakout
hit, with sales on Detective Comics soaring to the point that the character was given his own title
in 1940. By that time National was the top selling and most influential publisher in the industry,
and Batman and National s other major hero Superman were the cornerstones of the company s
success.[7] The two characters were featured side by side as the stars of World s Finest Comics,
which was originally titled World s Best Comics when it debuted in fall 1940. Creators including

opposing viewpoints to the controversial topic of human activities effects on the oceans and its
ecosystem being displayed on social media. According to Louise Gerdes the author of
Endangered Oceans: Opposing Viewpoints It is not difficult to find different opinions (9).
There are many different outputs of media that have different points of view and it can be
extraordinarily difficult in deciding which opinion to agree with and which experts seem the
most credible (9). With so many concepts, various articles, and so much research out there it is
hard to get a strong informed opinion about how human activity is or is not effecting the ocean
and its ecosystem. Endangered Oceans: Opposing Viewpoints; goal is to help the average
reader form an educated opinion or to help strengthen the opinion of the average reader by
supplying opposing views in articles about the topic written by credible people. According to
Louise Gerdes all of the articles used in Endangered Oceans: Opposing Viewpoints have credible
authors. Two of the articles that stand out are Human Activities Threaten the World s Oceans and

The Social Psychologist, Henri Tajfel And The Robber s...
In essence, life in and around the medical school plays a significant role in the range of attitudes
and behaviours adopted by the diversity of students checking in and out of the building. With
the large range of societies, interests, and cultures at large it is safe to say that students may
identify with one or two groups and it was the social psychologist, Henri Tajfel [1] who was one
of the first to claim an association between the groups we consort with and the attitudes we
display. He explained with his own experimental evidence in the minimal groups paradigm study
of 1979 [2], further supported by the independent study by Muzafer Sherif in the Robber s Cave
experiment of 1954 [3], that we embrace and endorse, on a sub conscious and sometimes
conscious level, the philosophy, work ethic and more importantly, the temperament of the groups
we belong to. Recognising the impact of the Doctors in Society lectures, SGTs as well as the
CBM sessions, it becomes clear to see that the duty of candour and the weight on building upon
values such as compassion, conscientiousness, must be universally accepted by medical students as
fundamental to a prosperous medical career. Psychologically speaking, certain peer groups may
have an impact on the timeliness and application of these values, for example the one who spends
time with charity based societies may find themselves more capable of demonstrating and
appreciating compassion and conscientiousness and so therefore, a first piece

Analysis Of The Poem The Ballad Of Jed Clampett
Originally named The Muleskinners, The Hamilton County Bluegrass band was founded by a
group of university students in Auckland in 1962.[9] For the young members, their first encounter
with bluegrass would be the theme song The Ballad of Jed Clampett from the television show
The Beverly Hillbillies. The show was one of the few American shows airing on New Zealand
television at the time. The Flatt and Scruggs theme tune and Scruggs style banjo influenced player
Paul Trenwith, who said that s how I wanted to learn banjo, and we found out there was a whole
music genre that went with that, so we chased that up. [10] Television was one of the key ways that
the bluegrass genre was and still is transmitted internationally. The dominance of... Show more

The albums of the Hamilton County Bluegrass Band included typical bluegrass fare, recording
covers of genre pioneers Bill Monroe and Flatt Scruggs. Their concert repertoire included covers
of bluegrass standards such as Salty Dog Blues , Uncle Pen , Kentucky Waltz and Orange
Blossom Special, a song for which they became known for.[13] These songs referenced rural life
and locations, whether explicitly such as Kentucky Waltz or within the lyrics, referencing hunting
or barn dances. In 1967, the band performed Reno and Smiley s Barefoot Nellie, a song with
rural themes and humorous lyrics such as Nellie put on her Sunday dress Thought that it would
look the best Made out of an old feed sack Cow feed wrote on the back [14] Adopting an American
accent, the recording of Barefoot Nellie features high lonesome harmony and solos on the banjo,
mandolin and fiddle, with band members displaying virtuosic mastery of their instruments. These
covers featured on their albums amongst traditional songs and an assortment of their own original
music, however much of their original music didn t emerge until their 1971 album For You. Most
likely due to the obscurity of the albums at the time, there is little to no lyrical or musical
information or description to be found regarding these original recordings. The band also looked to
other influences, recording their own interpretations of popular songs, such

Lady With The Dog
n The Lady with the Dog, Chekhov uses setting to enhance the mood of the story. The story
begins on the coastal town of Yalta during the hot summer. The strange light on the sea, the soft
warm lilac hue of the water and the golden streak from the moon upon it sets the tone for a
budding summer romance. The fact that the two main characters first meeting takes place in a
garden setting signifies a love about to bloom. Chekhov also uses the season/weather in his story.
The summer in Yalta is the start of a hopefully steamy affair for Gurov and the lady with the white
Pomeranian. They spend a lot of time walking, talking and dining together and taking in the smell
of the sea. They watch the steamers go by. Time stands still in... Show more content on

As June travels on a train to Guangzhou with her father, she notices the tears of happiness in his
eyes as he looks out the window and sees a sectioned field of yellow, green and brown under the
hot October sky. Like Chekhov, Tan uses the season of autumn to establish the change the reader
will see in Jane s character. In autumn, there is a beautiful array of color changes. For Jane, this
particular autumn, spent briefly in China, and the colors outside the train window represent a
transformation. She is returning to her roots. She is going home to discover that her mother
was right all along. The colors in the field represent the change that is about to happen in Jane.
Yellow, the color of the sun, brings hope and happiness to the new day. The field of green
represents new growth. Jane is on a journey that will help her grow as a person. The brown field
is just as important as the others. It is the last one she notices looking out the train window as she
arrives closer to Guangzhou and her roots. Setting also shapes the conflict within Jane. Is Chinese

Analysis Of Ashes By Susan Beth Pfeffer
In the short story called, Ashes by Susan Beth Pfeffer, the protagonist is dealing with the
complicated relationship between her divorced parents. Ashleigh, the main character, is questioned
by her dad if she can borrow her mom s money for his own problems. Ashes, short for Ashleigh,
like the compliments that she keeps receiving from her dad. Ashes complex relationship with her
parents makes her choose between her mom or her dad. One lesson this story suggests is that no
matter how much you love someone, you have to let them handle things on their own.
In the beginning of the story, the readers can understand that is Ashes talking about her parents.
Her mom is a practical person and always ready for anything, extra batteries for flashlights
during a blackout or extra coins for laundry and her dad on the other hand, is an easygoing,
carefree and willingness to help. In the story it says, ... All I can give you is dreams, Ashes. But
one good dream is worth a thousand flashlight batteries. This provides an explanation of how her
dad can only give her dreams and nothing else. He called her a name that made her feel special,
something her mom did not do, and her mom did not promise things she could not fulfill.
There is a part in the beginning of the story where Ashes, says When I was little, Dad used to
promise me the stars for a necklace, but like most of his promises, that one never quite happened.
This quote explains that he speaks more and is actionless. He has promised her things and
accomplished nothing. If he had bought her a necklace with fake stars, it would make Ashes feel
like her at least cared for her. He did not have to hype her up with hopes and then destroy them by
not fulfilling it.
In the text, Ashes is constantly getting compliments that she does not believe. Her dad calls her a
.. one in a million girl. A name Ashes does not believe she lives up to. Ashes knew that was not
true but did not tell her dad anything because she loves him and does not want to hurt him. Her
father keep on complimenting her, which makes him seem warm and loving. Her father s purchase
of loyalty by the way of compliments came into play when he asks Ashes to take her mother s
money from the teapot

Pregnancy And Its Effects On Pregnancy Essay
Pregnancy begins with a fetus developing inside a women s uterus, and ends with the birth of a
baby. Pregnancy involves a variety of clinical laboratory tests that can provide important
information from the beginning of pregnancy through the first days of the newborn s life. A
variety of laboratory tests are performed throughout pregnancy at different specified times.
Ninety five percent of pregnancies result in a safe delivery of a healthy baby, but there are
complications that can arise unexpectedly. Laboratory tests are important because they will help
identify possible complications, and provide specific information about your baby s health
during pregnancy. There are a variety of tests that are offered during pregnancies. Some tests are
routine, and are performed in order to detect certain conditions. There are some tests that are
offered to women who have an increased risk of complications due to their age, lifestyle choices,
and family history. Prenatal tests are used to screen for and diagnose any present problems that
may affect the baby or mothers health. tests offered can range from a small sample of easily
obtained blood, urine, or cervical cells to less routine tests. (Clinical Chemistry Laboratory
Medicine, 2014)There are two types of prenatal tests that are used during pregnancy. Screening
tests are one of these types of tests. Screening tests are usually safe and inexpensive, and are

decision of seceding from the Union than the economic factor. Historians do not use a small piece
of evidence to decide what happened, they gather facts to reconstruct the events that have to

psychology topics. These topics include but are not limited to social roles, relationships,
conformality, prejudices, and persuasion. Of these topics, the concept of social roles holds a vast
importance to the overall target of the film. Each of the five students represent a different social

Your Choice of Music Can Reveal Your Personality One s taste in music is at the top of the list
when it comes to topics that can cause a heater argument. Musical preferences are sacred to most
people and we tend to divide into small tribes over music, considering the other tribes as less
sophisticated. Interestingly, your music choices are not a random grouping your tribe isn t
determined by where your friends go. Instead, your personality and the music you like are
interlinked, both influencing each other. Three thinking groups and their musical choices A 2015
study by David M. Greenberg et al divided people s thinking into three separate thinking styles: the
empathizers, the systemizers and the balanced. Each thinking style tended to favor different type of
music, allowing the researchers to predict what music the person likes simply by understanding
their thinking style. Empathizers feel connected to others, they have strong emotions and they base
their decision making often on emotional values. On the other hand, systemizers think more
rationally. They are calm and composed in their decision making. As you might suspect, the
balanced thinkers are a mixture of both these styles. First, the empathizers were shown to prefer
mellow music low energy, sad emotions and emotional depth. The people in this group were
therefore associating with genres such as soft rock, indie music and R B. For the systemizers, this
type of music wasn t appealing. They were looking for a

Personality And Psychodynamic Models Of Personality
Over the variation of the project, subject A has been tested over three different models of
personality. Each one provided different points to her personality and allowed for the most in
depth explanation of the subject s personality. Each of these models are also capable of acting as
a check and balance for the other. For example, between the trait and psychodynamic models.
One could compare the results from the Big 5 and how that matches to the Myers Briggs since
essentially those gave similar feedback. Once those are both taken accounted for, these could
give rise to a more accurate basis for the biological model, which is mainly inferred and not
factual in the first place. The most prominent trait across the trait and psychodynamic models
was the strength of A s introversion. In both of the personality tests taken, this was usually one
of the results that was very striking. When she was first introduced to the result of her

Alexander believed Persepolis was their worst enemy among the cities of Asia. Also, they were
the wealthiest city. Alexander sacked and burned the city to stop its uprising, and as a
consequence for the demolition of Athens. Then he went to Darius s last capital, Ecbatana, where
he left the Macedonian general in command of the seized valuables. Alexander set out in search

CHAPTER 6 STRATEGY FORMULATION: CORPORATE STRATEGY Corporate Strategy
Corporate strategy deals with three key issues facing the corporation as a whole: 1. Directional

Under the full integration, a firm internally makes 100% of its key suppliers and completely
controls its distributors. With taper integration, a firm internally produces less than half of its own
requirements and buys the rest from outside suppliers. With quasi integration, a company does not
make any of its key supplies but purchases most of its requirements from outside suppliers that are
under its partial control. Long term contracts are agreements between two separate firms to provide
agreed upon goods and services to each other for a specified period of time. Horizontal Growth
This can be achieved by expanding the firm s products into other geographic locations and/or by
increasing the range of products and services offered to current markets. Horizontal growth results
in horizontal integration the degree to which a firm operates in multiple geographic locations at the
same point in an industry s value chain. Horizontal integration for a firm can range from full to
partial ownership to long term contracts. Diversification Strategies The two basic diversification
strategies are concentric and conglomerate. Concentric (Related) Diversification Growth through
concentric diversification into a related industry may be very appropriate corporate strategy when a
firm has a strong competitive position but industry attractiveness is low. Conglomerate (Unrelated)

Human Dependence On The Tar Sands
Human dependence on the tar sands will be monumental in the future with the end of conventional
oil. The tar sands project in Alberta is currently one of the greatest industrial projects throughout
human history. At this time, the oil sands in Alberta are the second largest producers of oil in the
world. The oil sandsin Albertacarry more than 170 billion barrels of oil, which is enough to sustain
Canada s oil demand for more than 15 decades. However, oil sands development over the years has
shown harmful effects on the health of the communities in Alberta. According to the

With the current and projected oil sands development, the green house gas emission is expected to
grow significantly in the near future in Alberta. The increase in the greenhouse gas emission leads
to more carbon dioxide in the atmosphere that traps the heat, which will eventually lead to global
warming. Furthermore, some green house gases like ozone are extremely harmful since it creates
respiratory problems for humans and it also disrupts the ecosystem by damaging crops. Thus, the
oil sands development has led to an unhealthy environment in the communities of Alberta over the
past couple of years by releasing a great deal of greenhouse gases.
Additionally, air pollution is also one of the most threatening environmental issues created from the
development of the tar sands. The air pollution created from the tar sands is not being dealt with
enough to protect the communities, the environment, and human health. During the process of
extracting oil from the sand, there are many vehicles used such as tractors, caterpillars, and cranes
that releases large amounts of carbon into the atmosphere. The high concentration of carbon in the
atmosphere can lead to numerous damaging consequences within the communities. Recent studies
have also shown that if tar sand production increases as expected, then there will be a significant

Influence of Religion on Society during the Fifteenth and Sixteenth Centuries
The undeniable power, force, and influence of religion stand out throughout history. However,
according to J. Michael Allen and James B. Allen in World History from 1500, in the fifteenth and
sixteenth centuries, religion was exceptionally important, because it had a great influence on
everything from government to social order and family relationships (16). Hundreds of years may
separate these two time periods and the modern world, but the same positive effects of religion
such as unity, security, and a social order are still basic ideals in today s world. This is also true

With this sense of security and belonging felt throughout the community, people felt united,
especially as Joan was able to mobilize them to fight For God and for France. They shared
common interests and common goals in living a religious lifestyle as dictated by their religion
whenever possible. In fact, one of Christopher Columbus s motives for sailing westward to India
was to open up opportunities to take the Christian gospel to the heathen (Allen Allen 23). Religion
also brought a new structure to households. Elders were not only parents, but they also became
teachers and role models for their children (12). This became obvious in the movie Joan of Arc,
where the majority of dinner conversations related to their religious beliefs, as it was important to
pass on the importance and need for religion to the future generations. Unity was a very powerful
tool during this time period because power came in numbers. This was obvious when Joan gathered
the community and convinced the people to defend their beliefs and fight back against the English.
Since the people were united in their faith, it was much easier to defend their territories and beliefs.
Thus, religion had tremendous positive effects.
On the other hand, this new feeling of expansion, security, hope, and unity were the constant
conflicts of opposing beliefs and struggles. For instance, although there were many

The Battle Of Valenciennes
The Battle of Valenciennes was the final touch to solidify Canada as a military force. Once again,
Canadians used their exemplary offences to capture yet another French city. According to Carl

ground. The north east and south west Valenciennes were flooded including Scheldt Canal, which
was covered in barbed wire to protect the Germans. Knowing this, Lieutenant General Currie and
the British Generals had the British Corps take Mont Houy then the Canadian Corps would capture
the city. On October 28, a Scottish division had to capture Mont Houy, but failed. In its place, the

Richard Cory By Edward Arlington Robinson

ENGL 102 007
Professor Estes
December 10, 2015
An Unexpected End
Richard Cory , by Edward Arlington Robinson is a narrative poem about how a collective group
of people perceive a man of high status. The townspeople look up to Richard Cory and strive to
be just like him. For the most part, the poem itself is quite basic and somewhat uneventful.
However, the reasons I take an interest in the poem are based on Robinson s decision to write the
poem so plainly, the phrases used to describe Richard Cory, and the shocking finale.
Once the reader begins to really analyze the poem it is apparent that it was not written in a very
complex or thought provoking manner. The poem itself is written with an ABAB rhyme scheme
and without much ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Everything in the poem up until this point had been written in a sort of simplistic manner. Richard
Cory s death is a surprise to everyone who reads the poem because there is no obvious hint to why
he would commit suicide. The poem leaves us thinking why would a man with such poise do
something like that to himself? I believe that this is a great example of the phrase, looks can be
deceiving . Throughout the poem, we are only told how Richard Cory was perceived through the
eyes of the town. The reader never gets to learn anything about Richard Cory from himself. I feel
that the contrast between how the poem sounds and what ultimately happens in the end really
gives this poem its meaning. Ultimately, Richard Cory is a poem about how one man can have it
all and yet still feel alone. Despite his effort to normalize himself by visiting the town, he was still
seen as the outsider. Over time, Richard Cory s status and wealth began his fall into a friendless
depression that lead to his

Utilitarianism, By John Stuart Mill
Utilitarianism is a doctrine in normative ethics that is outlined and defended by many philosophers,
including the English philosopher John Stuart Mill as a standard to determine what are right and
wrong actions. At its most basic claim, the right course of action one must take should be in the
interest of maximizing what is known as utility. The right course of action is determined as being
right if it maximizes the total benefit and happiness gained, while at the same time reducing the
greatest amount of pain for the greatest number of people. To put it simply, utilitarianismmerits the
greatest good for the greatest number. In Utilitarianism, John Stuart Milldetails his explanation and
support of the theory, and provides common criticisms of the theory that he refutes throughout the
piece. A couple of these critiques include claims that the concept of utility is opposed to the concept
of pleasure, and that it renders men cold and unsympathizing (p. 20). With conviction, Mill is able
to successfully vindicate and define utilitarianism from critiques, although he could go beyond
defining by providing examples and illustrations of utilitarianism in the way that critiques perceive
it to be in order to demonstrate faults and holes that would arise. The principle of utility is a
concept that was primarily introduced academically by philosopher Jeremy Benthamand later
confounded upon to become what is known as the Greatest Happiness Principle. Bentham focuses

this act, Hamilton is trying to make a name for himself by fighting in the war but instead becomes

Morgan Spurlock s Arguments In Super Size Me
1. What is the filmmaker s main argument?
Morgan Spurlock s argument in Super Size Me is that eating McDonald s everyday is bad and
hazardous for people and their health. However, even though Spurlock specifically focuses on
McDonald s because he is eating his daily meals from there, he points out not just that fast food
chain, but other fast food chains and even the meals served in school cafeterias. A more broad
thesis that is not entirely stated outward in the film would be that eating a lot of food that is
unhealthy for people everyday contributes to obesity, but specifically, Spurlock is focusing on the
fast food chains.
2. Are there any minor arguments?
Although not stated outward until the very end of the documentary, a minor argument concerns
whether or not the fast food companies and chains should be responsible for the obesity it causes
for its clientele. As informed to the audience, there have been multiple cases filed by numerous

Rise And Fall Of The League Of Nations
The League of Nations was an intergovernmental organisation founded on January 10, 1920 as a
result of the Paris Peace Conference that ended the First World War. It was the first international
organization whose principal mission was to maintain world peace. Its primary goals, as stated in
its Covenant, included preventing wars through collective security and disarmament and settling
international disputes through negotiation and arbitration. Other issues in this and related treaties
included labour conditions, just treatment of the native inhabitants, human and drug trafficking,

greatest extent from 28 September 1934 to 23 February, 1935, it had 58 members.( Great Events of

The diplomatic philosophy behind the League represented a fundamental shift from the preceding

Importance Of Preferential Trade Agreement
Internal Memorandum 2
Countries are increasingly using preferential trade arrangements in order to liberalize trade.
There are specific terms used in this context as such. When talking about a PTA, it should be first
made clear that this is an exception the core WTO principle of MFN. Some countries are treated
better than others for the purposes of such agreements, as opposed to the MFN status of the WTO,
where everybody is treated the same. There are going to be increasing levels of integration
associated with PTAs.
The first one, according to relevant literature is the so called free trade agreement, FTA. Under this

The first two ways of integration deal with movements of goods and services across borders and
WTO commitments. So, to be clear, it is only the FTAs and Customs Unions towards which WTO
rules are addressed. The WTO has certain commitments that members agree to, surrounding these
preferential trade agreements. On an FTA, where the FTA and customs union are treated under art.
XXIV of the GATT, the commitments under the agreements are required that the restrictions on
non members cannot be increased. You can eliminate the barriers among your buddies, but you
cannot increase the tariffs on non members. With the customs union, since there will be a
common policy towards non members, there could be some instances where some good s tariffs
go up for a particular member and down for another. So, it is looking at policies as a whole. There
will be a requirement for compensation as such.
The other expectation is that the restrictions both under the FTA or customs union need to be
removed by members on substantially all trade and within a reasonable amount of time. So, the
idea is that an FTA or customs union will not be only for the auto industry or only for the
agricultural industry, it should be for trade, as a whole. Some agreements in practice do not meet
this criteria and it is possible that a member could bring a dispute settlement case against two other
WTO members, who are not living up

Rogues, Rascals, And Scoundrels Analysis
In Rogues, Rascals, and Scoundrels, Daniel Williams claims that criminal literature in America has
evolved over the last few centuries in three stages. The first stage took place in the seventeenth
century, when executions were extremely popular and attended by thousands of Americans
(Williams 6). Since executions were so popular, it was inevitable that the execution sermons would
not be published (6). The first execution sermons were published as an attempt to make others fear
God, as the narratives would include descriptions of how ashamed and remorseful the criminal was
for their crimes (Williams 8). Self hatred and sincerity were not unusual in published confessions,
criminals often expressed repentance for their crimes and thanked the... Show more content on

The third stage of narrative development was characterized by the appearance of rogues...
relying on cleverness more than force, and motivated more by profits than by passion (Williams

(Williams 14). In the third stage of criminal literature, the protagonists were all rogues despite of
their unlawfully ways, they aroused reader sympathy (Williams 16). Williams described these
rogues as outsiders, existing apart from the social structure either by choice or by fate (William
16). He also described these rogues as individualistic, opportunistic, self reliant as well as defiant
of authority and entirely free (Williams 16). William argues that the evolution of these narratives
took place in three stages: the first being the early execution sermons and final confessions , the
second being the incomplete narratives of life and, finally the full length rogue narrative (Williams
17). Williams article describes how criminal literature changed from promoting obedience, [to]

Business Law 100
Question (a) Identify the principle of law The principles of law relevant to this question are the
doctrines of intention and consideration. Explain the rules of law The doctrine of intention is an
undertaking by both sides of an agreement to be legally bound either by an informal agreement
such as verbal intention to purchase or act, or a written document stating intention to purchase or
act, which could be in the form of a letter or a written statement as compared to a formal agreement
where a deed is prepared stating the intention of the contract which is signed and witnessed by
independent third parties and, although not necessary, sealed with a company or personal seal. In a
commercial agreement the intention to be legally... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Therefore the object of equal exchange is not necessary. In bilateral contracts when two parties
promise to provide consideration to each other the contract becomes valid immediately the
parties exchange promises as the promise to each other is deemed sufficient consideration.
Apply the law to the facts The points of discussion are to consider whether the elements of
intention and consideration have been met to enforce a contract. The intention of both Jamie
and Gina to act is made clear when Gina calls for tenders to build accommodation facilities at her
mine site and Jamie submits a tender, this in itself is not sufficient enough to form a contract as
no promises of exchange have been agreed to or accepted. At this point Jamie has made an offer
to Gina indicating his intention in exchange for a consideration of money and Gina has
indicated her intention, in exchange for goods and services. Gina decides to accept Jamie s
tender and in doing so sends a formal document in the form of a letter to Jamie, stating the terms
and conditions of her acceptance. It is at this point that Gina has accepted Jamie s tender and the
terms of intention and consideration to form a contract have been met by Gina and now relies on
Jamie being able to meet the terms of the contract and giving a formal reply to Gina to complete
the contract. Jamie is going to accept Gina s terms and conditions and does so by

The Drug Heroin
Heroin and commonly known by its street names of H, smack, horse, brown, black, tar, and others,
is an opioid analgesic originally synthesized by C.R. Alder Wright in 1874 by adding two acetyl
groups to the molecule morphine, which is found naturally in the opium poppy. It is the 3,6
diacetyl ester of morphine. Heroinitself is an inactive drug, but when inserted into the body, it
converts into morphine.
Illicit heroin is sometimes available in freebase form, dulling the sheen and consistency to a matte
white powder. Because of its lower boiling point, the freebase form of heroin is also smokable. It
is prevalent in heroin coming from Afghanistan, which as of 2004 produced roughly 87% of the
world supply in illicit raw opium.
As with other opioids, diacetylmorphine is used as both an analgesic and a recreational drug.
Frequent and regular administration is associated with tolerance and physical dependence.
Internationally, diacetylmorphine is controlled under Schedules I and IV of the Single Convention
on Narcotic Drugs. It is illegal to manufacture, possess, or sell diacetylmorphine without a license in
almost every country, except the UK and Switzerland.
It is also available for prescription to long term users as a form of opioid replacement therapy in the
United Kingdom, Netherlands, Switzerland, Germany, and Denmark, alongside psycho social care
in the same manner that methadone or buprenorphine are used in the United States and Canada and
a similar programme is being

Human Body-Exhibit
Although there was a lot of passing in my family, growing up I was never allowed to come near a
deceased body, even that of a family member. My grandma told me that in our Vietnamese culture,
there was this notion that the souls of the death get attached to innocence children, causing them to
encounter bad luck in life and sickness especially if the passing individual was ill. I was skeptical
of the notion and took it for what it is a superstition. On the other hand, my family takes the dead
very seriously, so the thought of donating one body to science is out of the question. No one, who
attended the funeral, was allowed into the main house until they have changed out from the clothes
they wore to the funeral. And immediately, the funeral... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The large male panda s can get up to 250 pounds, and be 2 feet long. The male panda s are indeed
larger than the females. These bears can live up to 20 years in the wild. Even though, there are
environmental conflicts that are reducing their lifespan.
Reasons for the Decline of the Panda Bear
Unfortunately, for the panda bear they are on a endangered list. There are several reasons that it
is difficult for the survival of these bears. The females can ovulate during the Spring time, which
becomes a very small window for growth. They are literally only able to ovulate 2 3 days a year.
That s right. So, this is already a challenge for them. Plus, the female panda can only give birth to 2
and 1 usually dies.
They are approximately 1,600 panda bears that live in the wild all over the world. However, there
are more panda s in China than anywhere else. With this being said, and China s continual growth,
this, causes destruction to the panda s habitat. China uses bamboo for construction and therefore,
removes the main source of food for the panda bear.

Queen Elizabeth I Essays
Queen Elizabeth I was by all rights England s most praised monarch. Her success in her reign,
viewed in later centuries, cannot adequately encompass all that she did or how she maintained her
power. In part, her endurance stems from the way in which she learned early in life to fight with
forces that were not physical, those of her mind, her intellect, and her own spirit. She used her
intellect to create an empire. Her education and early training of mind together with her basic
understanding of humanity, both of her own and that of her subjects, kept her at the helm for more
than forty years. Analysis of her writings, which include speeches, poems, letters, and documents to
Parliament, will help readers understand that Elizabeth... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Queen Elizabeth I was actually born Elizabeth Tudor, the daughter of Henry VIII and his second
wife (after England s split from the Catholic Church), Anne Boleyn. She was crowned Queen of
England on January14, 1559 and reined for the next 44 years. She is remembered by such names
as the Virgin Queen and Good Queen Bess.
Her childhood was a rather tumultuous one, with her father paying very little or no attention to
her. Her governess had to write to him saying that Elizabeth needed some clothes because all of
the ones that she had were too small. Her mother was executed when she was 2 years old after
being accused of adultery, incest etc. After her father s death, the throne went to her Catholic half
sister Mary. Mary s policies of burning Protestants at the stake and an unsuccessful war with France,
wherein she lost Callais, the last of England s strongholds on the continent, made her less than
popular.
When Elizabeth was sixteen rumors were spread she had plotted with Thomas Seymour to put him
in line for the throne. In addition, the rumor that she was having a love affair with him and was
pregnant with his child surfaced. These rumors called into question the value of honor and honesty
of the young Lady Elizabeth.
In this situation, Elizabeth shows one of her first examples of building her leadership image
through her writings. Elizabeth wrote a letter

The Wife Of Bath, By Geoffrey Chaucer The Wife of Bath, emphasizing The Prologue of the Wife of Bath s Tale and the The Prologue in Geoffrey Chaucer s Canterbury Tales, is an example of the Middle English concept that male authors reflect misogynistic ideals of society onto female characters. With the Wife of Bath, she is a fictional character, as told by Chaucer, going on a Pilgrimage, with constant ridicule for her sexuality and multiple marriages. Chaucer portrays her as a previously battered wifewho uses her sexual promiscuity as a way of control. He uses his progressive views to give the Wife of Bath power, but also reflects societal views from the period through responses and actions taken during her life. Although the abilities of women progressed in the Middle... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This subtle judgment alludes to the importance of her sexual habits and her compromised chastity, but also objectifies her as well. The narrator continues on by pointing out the fact that she had been married five times, an atypical habit for women during this time, which continues to oversexualize her character. Later in Canterbury Tales, during The Prologue of the Wife of Bath , she addresses the abnormal amount of marriages she has had. She recognizes that Jesus is said to frown upon more than one marriage, but she quickly backlashes those accusations and claims no word of what the number was to be/ then why not marry two or even eight? And why speak evil of this married state? ( The Wife of Bath s Prologue Chaucer 259). She also claims that she would gladly take a sixth husband, and, due to her interpretation of Bible, it is completely acceptable to marry as many men as she wants. At the end of his introduction to the wife of Bath, the narrator points out that she is adventurous and well traveled, an accomplishment unfamiliar to most women. The narrator simply states and she had thrice been to Jerusalem,/ seen many strange rivers and passed over them;/ she d been to Rome and also to Boulogne,/ St. James of Compostella and cologne,/ and she was skilled in wandering by the way ( TP Chaucer 15). • 5. The Market Economy Marge Piercy The Market Economy was a poem written by Marge Piercy in 1973. The publishing of The Market Economy could have been influenced by a couple of factors. First, was how Piercy lived during the time that capitalism was first introduced, and new markets and means of wealth and prosperity were being created. Next, The Market Economy was published after the start of the 1970 s recession in the U.S., which could have had some influence on the purpose of this poem. To be simple, the poem is very negative and is about the negativity of Capitalist America and how bad it is for the environment and for our health. Piercy wrote her poem in the style of free verse. Consistently throughout the poem there no signs of rhyming or meter. Piercy was very direct with her poem. In The market economy, she did not favor the use of similes or other literary devices. One of few literary devices used was the use of the name smog city. One google search later, and pictures of large cities with smokestacks pumping out metric tons of smoke into the air gives explanation to the term smog city. ... • 6. Sound Connections Chapter Summary Chapter 3 TONAL AND RHYTHM SYLLABLE SYSTEMS Amber Hall MUSE 100 Dr. Palmer RT 2 The third chapter of Don P. Ester s book, Sound Connections, introduces many systems for teaching pitch and rhythm. The chapter discusses the benefits and disadvantages of the many systems, such as, Ester starts by introducing his idea of the criteria for selecting effective syllable systems. One of his many points is, The syllables must connect very efficiently with the aural syntax of music, allowing the learner to easily link syllables to patterns before encountering notation. The next being The syllables must eventually link to musical symbols in a practical and intuitive manner. The last being, The syllables should be appropriate for use with all ages. Ester also outlines specific guidelines for tonal and rhythmic systems that vary from each other. The most successful systems chosen by Ester meet these criteria points, and are outlined as to why they are the most successful. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As Ester explains both of these methods, he is quick to point out the flaws and show why they are no longer used today. The first method does not cover the primary focus of reinforcing specific letter names, while the second method allows incorrect rhythm. There is a German version that has single syllables, but it does not correlate with English flats or sharps. Another flaw quickly mentioned by Ester, is the fact that a different syllable pattern has to be sung for each tonic triad associated with the fifteen key signatures, making it nearly impossible for beginner level students to comprehend. This clearly does not meet the criteria of being appropriate for all ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

He has since become, along with Superman and Spider Man, one of the world s most recognized superheroes.[1] Batman was co created by artist Bob Kane and writer Bill Finger, although only Kane receives official credit for the character. According to Louise Gerdes the author of Endangered Oceans: Opposing Viewpoints It is not difficult to find different opinions (9). There are many different outputs of media that have different points of view and it can be extraordinarily difficult in deciding which opinion to agree with and which experts seem the most credible (9). • 10. The Social Psychologist, Henri Tajfel And The Robber s... In essence, life in and around the medical school plays a significant role in the range of attitudes and behaviours adopted by the diversity of students checking in and out of the building. With the large range of societies, interests, and cultures at large it is safe to say that students may identify with one or two groups and it was the social psychologist, Henri Tajfel [1] who was one of the first to claim an association between the groups we consort with and the attitudes we display. He explained with his own experimental evidence in the minimal groups paradigm study of 1979 [2], further supported by the independent study by Muzafer Sherif in the Robber s Cave experiment of 1954 [3], that we embrace and endorse, on a sub conscious and sometimes conscious level, the philosophy, work ethic and more importantly, the temperament of the groups we belong to. Recognising the impact of the Doctors in Society lectures, SGTs as well as the CBM sessions, it becomes clear to see that the duty of candour and the weight on building upon values such as compassion, conscientiousness, must be universally accepted by medical students as fundamental to a prosperous medical career. Psychologically speaking, certain peer groups may have an impact on the timeliness and application of these values, for example the one who spends time with charity based societies may find themselves more capable of demonstrating and appreciating compassion and conscientiousness and so therefore, a first piece ... Analysis Of The Poem The Ballad Of Jed Clampett Originally named The Muleskinners, The Hamilton County Bluegrass band was founded by a group of university students in Auckland in 1962.[9] For the young members, their first encounter with bluegrass would be the theme song The Ballad of Jed Clampett from the television show The Beverly Hillbillies. The show was one of the few American shows airing on New Zealand television at the time. The Flatt and Scruggs theme tune and Scruggs style banjo influenced player Paul Trenwith, who said that s how I wanted to learn banjo, and we found out there was a whole music genre that went with that, so we chased that up. The albums of the Hamilton County Bluegrass Band included typical bluegrass fare, recording covers of genre pioneers Bill Monroe and Flatt Scruggs. Their concert repertoire included covers of bluegrass standards such as Salty Dog Blues , Uncle Pen , Kentucky Waltz and Orange Blossom Special, a song for which they became known for.[13] These songs referenced rural life and locations, whether explicitly such as Kentucky Waltz or within the lyrics, referencing hunting or barn dances. In 1967, the band performed Reno and Smiley s Barefoot Nellie, a song with rural themes and humorous lyrics such as Nellie put on her Sunday dress Thought that it would look the best Made out of an old feed sack Cow feed wrote on the back [14] Adopting an American accent, the recording of Barefoot Nellie features high lonesome harmony and solos on the banjo, mandolin and fiddle, with band members displaying virtuosic mastery of their instruments. These covers featured on their albums amongst traditional songs and an assortment of their own original music, however much of their original music didn t emerge until their 1971 album For You. The strange light on the sea, the soft warm lilac hue of the water and the golden streak from the moon upon it sets the tone for a budding summer romance. The fact that the two main characters first meeting takes place in a garden setting signifies a love about to bloom. Chekhov also uses the season/weather in his story. For Jane, this particular autumn, spent briefly in China, and the colors outside the train window represent a transformation. She is returning to her roots. She is going home to discover that her mother was right all along. The colors in the field represent the change that is about to happen in Jane. • 13. Analysis Of Ashes By Susan Beth Pfeffer In the short story called, Ashes by Susan Beth Pfeffer, the protagonist is dealing with the complicated relationship between her divorced parents. Ashleigh, the main character, is questioned by her dad if she can borrow her mom s money for his own problems. Ashes, short for Ashleigh, like the compliments that she keeps receiving from her dad. Ashes complex relationship with her parents makes her choose between her mom or her dad. One lesson this story suggests is that no matter how much you love someone, you have to let them handle things on their own. In the beginning of the story, the readers can understand that is Ashes talking about her parents. Her mom is a practical person and always ready for anything, extra batteries for flashlights during a blackout or extra coins for laundry and her dad on the other hand, is an easygoing, carefree and willingness to help. In the story it says, ... All I can give you is dreams, Ashes. But one good dream is worth a thousand flashlight batteries. This provides an explanation of how her dad can only give her dreams and nothing else. He called her a name that made her feel special, something her mom did not do, and her mom did not promise things she could not fulfill. There is a part in the beginning of the story where Ashes, says When I was little, Dad used to promise me the stars for a necklace, but like most of his promises, that one never quite happened. This quote explains that he speaks more and is actionless. He has promised her things and accomplished nothing. If he had bought her a necklace with fake stars, it would make Ashes feel like her at least cared for her. He did not have to hype her up with hopes and then destroy them by not fulfilling it. In the text, Ashes is constantly getting compliments that she does not believe. Her dad calls her a .. one in a million girl. A name Ashes does not believe she lives up to. Ashes knew that was not true but did not tell her dad anything because she loves him and does not want to hurt him. Her father keep on complimenting her, which makes him seem warm and loving. • 31. Utilitarianism, By John Stuart Mill Utilitarianism is a doctrine in normative ethics that is outlined and defended by many philosophers, including the English philosopher John Stuart Mill as a standard to determine what are right and wrong actions. At its most basic claim, the right course of action one must take should be in the interest of maximizing what is known as utility. The right course of action is determined as being right if it maximizes the total benefit and happiness gained, while at the same time reducing the greatest amount of pain for the greatest number of people. To put it simply, utilitarianismmerits the greatest good for the greatest number. In Utilitarianism, John Stuart Milldetails his explanation and support of the theory, and provides common criticisms of the theory that he refutes throughout the piece. A couple of these critiques include claims that the concept of utility is opposed to the concept of pleasure, and that it renders men cold and unsympathizing (p. 20). With conviction, Mill is able to successfully vindicate and define utilitarianism from critiques, although he could go beyond defining by providing examples and illustrations of utilitarianism in the way that critiques perceive it to be in order to demonstrate faults and holes that would arise. Some countries are treated better than others for the purposes of such agreements, as opposed to the MFN status of the WTO, where everybody is treated the same. The first two ways of integration deal with movements of goods and services across borders and WTO commitments. So, to be clear, it is only the FTAs and Customs Unions towards which WTO rules are addressed. The WTO has certain commitments that members agree to, surrounding these preferential trade agreements. On an FTA, where the FTA and customs union are treated under art. XXIV of the GATT, the commitments under the agreements are required that the restrictions on non members cannot be increased. You can eliminate the barriers among your buddies, but you cannot increase the tariffs on non members. With the customs union, since there will be a common policy towards non members, there could be some instances where some good s tariffs go up for a particular member and down for another. So, it is looking at policies as a whole. There will be a requirement for compensation as such. The other expectation is that the restrictions both under the FTA or customs union need to be removed by members on substantially all trade and within a reasonable amount of time. So, the idea is that an FTA or customs union will not be only for the auto industry or only for the agricultural industry, it should be for trade, as a whole. The first stage took place in the seventeenth century, when executions were extremely popular and attended by thousands of Americans (Williams 6). Since executions were so popular, it was inevitable that the execution sermons would not be published (6). The first execution sermons were published as an attempt to make others fear God, as the narratives would include descriptions of how ashamed and remorseful the criminal was for their crimes (Williams 8). • 43. The Drug Heroin Heroin and commonly known by its street names of H, smack, horse, brown, black, tar, and others, is an opioid analgesic originally synthesized by C.R. Alder Wright in 1874 by adding two acetyl groups to the molecule morphine, which is found naturally in the opium poppy. It is the 3,6 diacetyl ester of morphine. Heroinitself is an inactive drug, but when inserted into the body, it converts into morphine. Illicit heroin is sometimes available in freebase form, dulling the sheen and consistency to a matte white powder. Because of its lower boiling point, the freebase form of heroin is also smokable. It is prevalent in heroin coming from Afghanistan, which as of 2004 produced roughly 87% of the world supply in illicit raw opium. As with other opioids, diacetylmorphine is used as both an analgesic and a recreational drug. Frequent and regular administration is associated with tolerance and physical dependence. Internationally, diacetylmorphine is controlled under Schedules I and IV of the Single Convention on Narcotic Drugs. It is illegal to manufacture, possess, or sell diacetylmorphine without a license in almost every country, except the UK and Switzerland. She was crowned Queen of England on January14, 1559 and reined for the next 44 years. She is remembered by such names as the Virgin Queen and Good Queen Bess. Her childhood was a rather tumultuous one, with her father paying very little or no attention to her. Her governess had to write to him saying that Elizabeth needed some clothes because all of the ones that she had were too small. Her mother was executed when she was 2 years old after being accused of adultery, incest etc. After her father s death, the throne went to her Catholic half sister Mary.
