CDSCO and Phamacovigilance {Regulatory body in India}NEHA GUPTA
The Central Drugs Standard Control Organization (CDSCO) is India's national regulatory body for pharmaceuticals and medical devices. Operating under the Directorate General of Health Services, Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India, the CDSCO is responsible for approving new drugs, conducting clinical trials, setting standards for drugs, controlling the quality of imported drugs, and coordinating the activities of State Drug Control Organizations by providing expert advice.
Pharmacovigilance, on the other hand, is the science and activities related to the detection, assessment, understanding, and prevention of adverse effects or any other drug-related problems. The primary aim of pharmacovigilance is to ensure the safety and efficacy of medicines, thereby protecting public health.
In India, pharmacovigilance activities are monitored by the Pharmacovigilance Programme of India (PvPI), which works closely with CDSCO to collect, analyze, and act upon data regarding adverse drug reactions (ADRs). Together, they play a critical role in ensuring that the benefits of drugs outweigh their risks, maintaining high standards of patient safety, and promoting the rational use of medicines.

RESULTS: Overall life span (LS) was 2252.1±1742.5 days and cumulative 5-year survival (5YS) reached 73.2%, 10 years – 64.8%, 20 years – 42.5%. 513 LCP lived more than 5 years (LS=3124.6±1525.6 days), 148 LCP – more than 10 years (LS=5054.4±1504.1 days).199 LCP died because of LC (LS=562.7±374.5 days). 5YS of LCP after bi/lobectomies was significantly superior in comparison with LCP after pneumonectomies (78.1% vs.63.7%, P=0.00001 by log-rank test). AT significantly improved 5YS (66.3% vs. 34.8%) (P=0.00000 by log-rank test) only for LCP with N1-2. Cox modeling displayed that 5YS of LCP significantly depended on: phase transition (PT) early-invasive LC in terms of synergetics, PT N0—N12, cell ratio factors (ratio between cancer cells- CC and blood cells subpopulations), G1-3, histology, glucose, AT, blood cell circuit, prothrombin index, heparin tolerance, recalcification time (P=0.000-0.038). Neural networks, genetic algorithm selection and bootstrap simulation revealed relationships between 5YS and PT early-invasive LC (rank=1), PT N0—N12 (rank=2), thrombocytes/CC (3), erythrocytes/CC (4), eosinophils/CC (5), healthy cells/CC (6), lymphocytes/CC (7), segmented neutrophils/CC (8), stick neutrophils/CC (9), monocytes/CC (10); leucocytes/CC (11). Correct prediction of 5YS was 100% by neural networks computing (area under ROC curve=1.0; error=0.0).
CONCLUSIONS: 5YS of LCP after radical procedures significantly depended on: 1) PT early-invasive cancer; 2) PT N0--N12; 3) cell ratio factors; 4) blood cell circuit; 5) biochemical factors; 6) hemostasis system; 7) AT; 8) LC characteristics; 9) LC cell dynamics; 10) surgery type: lobectomy/pneumonectomy; 11) anthropometric data. Optimal diagnosis and treatment strategies for LC are: 1) screening and early detection of LC; 2) availability of experienced thoracic surgeons because of complexity of radical procedures; 3) aggressive en block surgery and adequate lymph node dissection for completeness; 4) precise prediction; 5) adjuvant chemoimmunoradiotherapy for LCP with unfavorable prognosis.

Societies for Experimental Biology) Journal - 1998
ANTIPROLIFERATIVE EFFECT OF A FLAVONOID RICH FRUIT AND
VEGETABLE BLEND ON HUMAN BREAST CANCER CELLS. A. Carughi.
Background: The prevention of cancer by administration of food phytochemicals is
currently regarded as a promising avenue for cancer control. Epidemiological studies
have demonstrated the relationship between carcinogenesis and diet. Studies on animal
models have also demonstrated that experimentally induced cancer is preventable with
certain natural compounds in the diet. Many flavonoids have been shown to have potent
anticarcinogenic and antitumor activity. For example, quercetin inhibits carcinogenesis
in a number of models and is able to selectively inhibit a variety of tumor cell growth.
Polymethoxylated citrus flavonoids have been shown to have anti-invasive and anti-
metastatic activities. Purpose: To study the antiproliferative effect of a flavonoid rich
fruit and vegetable blend (Flavonoid Complex Active Blend) on human mammary cancer
cells (MCF7). Method: The polyphenol content of the blend was mg/g (measures
as gallic acid equivalents) and contained mg/g quercetin, mg/g kaempherol,
mg/g epicatechin mg/gm hesperidin, mg/g naringenin and mg/g myricetin.
MCF7 (mammary adenocarcinoma cells) were harvested in RPMI 1640 media and
seeded in 96 well plates. A polar and a non polar extract was prepared using 1:1
dichloromethane-methanol and 70% methanol respectively. The extracts were dissolved
in DMSO, combined and serially diluted in the media. The cells were treated and
incubated and for 3 days. Viable cells were quantified using the neutral Red Dye Uptake.
Doxorubicin was used as the positive control. Results: There was a linear response on
percent inhibition (Figure 1). The concentrations used for regression were 150 to 200
ug/ml (r2 = 0.90). Percent inhibition at these points were 41.5 and 82.1 respectively.
Conclusion: This study demonstrates that a flavonoid rich blend of fruit and vegetable
extracts strongly inhibits growth of human breast cancer cells.

Tré…a truly amazing new productNot just juice, Tre’ is bioactive nutritional essence!Originating from the far corners of the world, it is a pure blend of nature’s most potent, health-enhancing, polyphenol rich foods.Tre’ is an essence of ancient wisdom, validated by modern science, bringing to you the promise of timeless benefits.
For decades we have known that our bodies are constantly under attack by the forces of oxidation … Known as “free radicals” they have the power to attack our cells and tissues,Accelerating the aging process…Pushing us toward disease. SAB amongst the first to identify this threat… (work of Dr. Furst)GNLD was the first to offer whole food, human food chain solutions…way back in the late 1970’s…Today we know that there’s another powerful force that works to rob us of health, vitality, energy and long life…
For decades we have known that our bodies are constantly under attack by the forces of oxidation … Known as “free radicals” they have the power to attack our cells and tissues,Accelerating the aging process…Pushing us toward disease. SAB amongst the first to identify this threat… (work of Dr. Furst)GNLD was the first to offer whole food, human food chain solutions…way back in the late 1970’s…Today we know that there’s another powerful force that works to rob us of health, vitality, energy and long life…
Together inflammation and oxidation are the “evil twins” of aging and disease.Directly or indirectly involved in every disease process…Left unchecked they increase the rate at which we age…Eroding our health on every front…Robbing us of youthful health and vitality …Aging both the body and the mind…But this does not have to be…Nature has provided tools to help protect us from the evil twins…One of the most powerful tools are known as Super Fruits.
The term Super Fruits is used to refer to a group of whole foods that deliver particularly powerful protector nutrients called Polyphenols…. a group of nutrients normally present in the human food chain that our bodies can use to fight the evil twins …Once thoughts to be vitamins…and referred to as Vitamin-P…Polyphenols are a unique family of powerful nutrients that have both anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties. When abundant in the diet they provide great benefit
Epidemiologic studies have shown they are very important to us…Click - Science tells us that when polyphenols are low in the dietWe are at elevated risk of disease.Click - Conversely,…when they are abundant…Risk of disease is diminished.
Polyphenols provide this protection by fighting off the evil twins of aging and disease.Reducing the forces of inflammation and oxidation…Protecting and defending us in ways no other nutrients can…No where are these new discoveries more important than in the area of brains health and cognitive longevity…
Truly the New Frontier in Health and Longevity…Focusing on the nutritional needs of the brain offers great promise for your futureScience is discovering that like every organ of your body your brain has very special nutritional needs…Research shows that polyphenols have the ability to cross the blood-brain barrierAnd play unique roles in brain biochemistry…Protecting brain cells and tissues…Supporting mental sharpness for today……and mental clarity for tomorrow…Truly a new Frontier in Health and Longevity…consider this…
Most of us reach our full cognitive potential of our brains by the time we are about 20.That’s when our brain is most vigorous and energetic…When mental sharpness is at it’s greatest…Memory has it’s greatest clarity… Neural processing is at it’s fastest…But we now know that how well you brain serves you…how sharp you mind stays…how clear your memory remains…is strongly influenced by diet.Everyone knows of someone who is a little forgetful…or not as sharp as they once were. You might even feel that way about yourself…it’s a natural thing for our mental capacity to decline a bit with age. But when that decline begins and to what extent it progresses can be a reflection of your diet.Research shows that those who have the highest polyphenol content in their diet tend to have the highest cognitive capacity throughout life…While those with the lowest are at greatest risk of age-related cognitive decline such as memory loss.
Research shows that polyphenol rich food play other very important roles in our bodies as well.In addition to protecting the brain, science has shown that Polyphenols protect: The heart and circulatory systemCells and tissues… Including Prostate, Breast, Urinary tract, VisionThey even offer protection to our joints health and functional mobility
Tré offers all this and more….Conceived and created by the SAB…Based on more than 15 years of research… (PhenHRIG story)Ancient wisdom from across the world…Modern science from leading edge…Timeless benefits for today and tomorrow…
Like all GNLD products…Tré is based in Nature…and Backed by Science.Tre’ has been conceived and created by GNLD’s Scientific Advisory Board – world renowned experts in whole food nutrition committed to delivering innovative, scientifically proven products that support a lifetime of health and vitality.
Science has shown that ‘polyphenols’ found in these fruits, often referred to as superfruits play a wide range of critical roles in supporting and promoting health, longevity and cognitive function. With Tre’ we have been able to harness the rich, rejuvenating bounty of nature, and the health enhancing properties of some of the most polyphenol rich fruits that nature provides and your body needs. It is drawn entirely from polyphenol-rich, whole food sources inside the human food chain…Delivering an unmatched array of high potency nutrition…In the density your body needs and the diversity nature intended…Each ingredient has proven benefits…Drawn from Ancient Wisdom and confirmed by modern science…Let me show you what I mean….
Known as the miracle fruit from the Mediterranean and a unique source of the polyphenol punicalagin, pomegranate has long been associated with enhancing heart health.Ancient WisdomFrom the ancient middle east…amongst the first plants to be cultivated…more than 4000 years ago…highly reveredFruit of the Gods…symbol of righteousnessAssociated with Birth & Eternal Life Spoken of in the Bible (the books of Exodus and Kings)In the coat of arms of the Royal college of Physicians (UK) still todayModern Science Anti-Inflammatory – AntioxidantProtects the Cardiovascular systemPromotes Prostate / Breast healthSupports lifelong brain health and cognitive function
Acai berries from the alluvial flood plains of Brazil, where they draw strength from the nutrient rich Amazon soil have been found to be a rich source of another family of polyphenols called anthocyanins.Ancient Wisdom from the northern Amazon … Used by Amazonian warriors and hunters for centuriesGiving them strength and energyProtecting them in battleHealing Modern ScienceAntioxidantCell protectorDetoxifier
Acknowledged as the miraculous health promoting ingredient from the Orient for millennia, green tea is rich in polyphenols such as catechins and EGCG or epigallo-catechin-galate; scientifically proven to be associated with long-term cellular health including that of prostate and breast tissue, as well as cognitive function preservation.Ancient wisdom1000’s of years of history of use…first recorded in 2737BC (4735 years ago) First came to Japan about 3,000 years ago.Medicine of the Orient…associated with Energy & AlertnessMental Clarity & WisdomModern scienceMore than 1500 references in media\\cal literature (Pub Med)Anti-inflammatory & antioxidant…Anti-carcinogenic … cell protectorBroad support for heart healthCognitive longevityEnergizer – Thermogenic – fat burner
The concentrated extracts from these phytonutrient rich super fruits join forces with ‘Inflox’ – an exclusive, proprietary blend of deep, dark berries including blueberry, elderberry, bilberry, cranberry, black currant and red & white grapes.Dark colored berries in the Tre’ inflox blend are also powerful contributors to its polyphenol contentIdentified by researchers as being…Anti-InflammatoryAntioxidantAble to cross the Blood / Brain barrierSupport cognitive health…Journal of Neuroscience – May 2007: states the polyphenols in these fruits offer the promise to “Protect cognitive wellbeing, reverse brain aging and promote sharpness and lifelong mental agility”.Blueberries are associated with offering protection to the brain cells by crossing the blood-brain barrier. Elderberries are being studied for their ability to optimize immune function. Bilberry is associated with eye health.Cranberry with maintaining urinary tract health and black currant.Red & white grapes are linked to promoting heart health.
That’s not all. This health promoting properties of this unique blend are enhanced with two powerful, scientifically validated anti-aging antioxidants: resveratrol and alpha-lipoic acid. Resveratrol is the remarkable compound found in red wine and associated with its heart health benefits. Resveratrol is also being studied for its brain health benefits, weight loss and association with potentially extending lifespan.Tre’ also provides the water- as well as fat-soluble antioxidant alpha-lipoic acid. Alpha-lipoic acid, in addition to being a powerful antioxidant by itself, has the amazing ability to regenerate vitamins C and E for maximum antioxidant protection. It also helps reduce oxidative stress. ----High potency antioxidants:Resveratrol…first identified in red wine as the key to the French paradox… Anti-Aging….Slow and even reverse brain aging… inhibit cancer at all three stages (initiation, promotion and progression) Cardio protective (look on dvd)Alpha Lipoic Acid….Master antioxidant.. An antioxidant itself . Supports mitochondrial function and efficiency Capable of recharging other antioxidants …C or EThe two work together in antioxidant synergy within the complex network of antioxidants in the body.
Then Tre’ is sweetened precisely with the nectar from the agave cactus to form a powerful and delicious bioactive essence that supports the body’s natural ability to fight the evil twins of aging and disease – inflammation and oxidation.Agave comes from ancient Mayan culture and thought of as a source of prolonged energy. All natural sweetener…
The diversity of phytonutrients Nature intended….The complete family of polyphenols found in Pomegranate, Açai, Green Tea, Blueberry, Black Currant, Bilberry, Elderberry, Cranberry , Red and White grapes…
Along with the nutritional diversity offered by Tre’, the most important GNLD difference is the guarantee of the density of health promoting nutrients coming from the standardized amounts of key active ingredients – such as:Superfruit polyphenols Punicalagin in pomegranateCatechins in green teaResveratrol from red grapesand alpha-lipoic acid.Tre’s punicalagin content is 20 times as potent as fresh pomegranate. Each serving provides the resveratrol equivalent of drinking 1-2 glasses of fine red wine, 7 times the ORAC potency of red ripe tomatoes, and the amount of alpha-lipoic acid that you would get from eating 4 cups of fresh spinach.
In a beautiful packaging form an award winning designer, Tre’ is an essence of nature, with a foundation of science, and brings to you the promise of enhanced health, improved mental agility and maximized lifespan.
The key to Tré is in the experience… more than just a juice…the bioactive essence….First…you must see Tré…look at it’s rich deep robust glow as it enters the glass.Next you must smell Tré…it’s rich, deep and inviting aromaThen you can taste Tré…it’s full, broad and invigorating flavorYou don’t simply drink Tre’… You experience it.
