Agile and Traditional Project Management Homogeneous or Hybrid Mike Otranto
Gartner reports that 75% to 80% of organizations are using some form of agile project management process. Although agile project management has been around for many years, the way we adapt it has changed significantly, especially as project portfolio management (PPM) practices have evolved.
In today's businesses, technology plays a crucial role in our success, but technology also makes things more uncertain. This uncertainty has given us the motive to be more flexible and requires a “think on your feet” mentality. For this reason, we have seen a big spike in Agile PPM over the last few years. So how do we continue to deliver stability and efficiency, the result of traditional style PPM, while also giving in to necessary risks that lead to innovation and competitive edge? It’s simple…. we accept the value in each method, avoid the inevitable pains that will develop with segregation, and opt for a unified agile and traditional PPM model.

Learn about Project Online and ITSM Integration. Project Online integration with ServiceNow, Project Online and Cherwell integration Project Online integration with Dynamics 365.
IT departments commonly use an ITSM solution such as Microsoft Dynamics and ServiceNow, in addition to Project Online, to track and manage requests for IT service. However, there is little process in place to manage larger pieces of work, such as projects and programs, and to understand how IT resources are being utilized across organizational initiatives.
Integrating PPM systems with ITSM systems can move organizations from being a bucket brigade to an organized emergency unit. In this webinar, we will demonstrate how IT leadership can better support the business and answer key questions such as:
Is IT actively engaged in activities that are directly impacting the strategic objectives of the organization as whole?
How much time and budget are we spending on strategic vs. maintenance activities?
How and where is IT adding value to the business, and what ROI can be expected on these efforts?
What departments or business units are consuming the most IT resources and can we make operational improvements better support the needs of these groups?
What Does Agile Mean to the Modern PMOMike Otranto

Software has become critical to business change but as platforms grow obsolete, internal and external customer needs more complex, and multifaceted reporting an expectation, implementing software changes without considering implications to re-architecture initiatives will only lead to costly rebuilds.
In this presentation, guest presenter, Randy Heffner, Vice President and Principal Analyst of Forrester Research, walks through his latest research on how application delivery (as opposed to business change delivery) kills business responsiveness. He focuses on how leading IT organizations combine digital business design models, agile delivery, and architecture governance to drive continuous business transformation.
Following Randy, Headspring’s Executive Vice President of Operations, Glenn Burnside, details three business enterprise case studies in which the “business transformation catalyst” delivery model has taken theory into practice.
Microsoft Project in Manufacturing and Resources - Presented by AtidanDavid J Rosenthal
In these demanding economic times, many executives are facing sharper scrutiny of their discretionary spending. This increases the importance of effectively identifying, selecting, and delivering product portfolios that best align with an organization’s business strategy. Best-practice portfolio selection techniques provide a handshake between value optimization — that is, alignment with business priorities and maximizing ROI — and resource utilization, meaning the understanding of resource capabilities and availability. Together, these techniques help PMOs recommend not only which product to undertake, but to forecast their delivery.
Vision
Organizations can make business strategies more objective by adopting structured techniques for defining, prioritizing, and communicating business imperatives, and consistently evaluating each competing initiative that contributes to strategic priorities. Adopting a structured portfolio selection process helps organizations accomplish the following:
Define and communicate the business strategy: Many organizations publish mission statements and high-level strategic objectives. Few of them, however, break down their strategy into actionable, measurable, and unique business drivers. Defining and effectively communicating the business strategy provides a blueprint that organizational departments can understood and implement.
Drive executive consensus around business driver priorities: Objectively prioritizing the business strategy and driving executive consensus can help your organization more effectively assess competing initiatives and select the optimal portfolio.
Objectively prioritize competing products from multiple dimensions: Prioritizing products by using a variety of value measurements (e.g., strategic value, financial value, and risk) provides a framework for assessing requests from multiple dimensions and for creating a common currency with which to make comparisons.
Identify the optimal portfolio under varying budget and portfolio constraints: Facing budget cuts or requests that exceed the allocated budget creates a daunting task for PMOs. Additional variables, such as inter-product dependencies and regulatory requirements, can further compound the problem, creating a challenge in effectively modeling scenarios that will help identify the right products for an organization to undertake. Accurately capturing realistic cost and benefit estimates for products early in their lifecycle helps executives effectively select portfolios that maximize ROI under varying budget constraints and measure financial performance during product execution.
Effectively communicate tradeoffs: Budget, available resources, dependencies, pet products, and compliance requirements can potentially affect the overall value of selected product portfolios. Being able to identify and alter constraints helps PMOs communicate tradeoffs to the executive team and enhance the potential value gained from the resulting

Enable High-performance and Strategic Capabilities with Flow MetricsTasktop
To remain relevant amid increasing market disruption, organizations have no choice but to compress their software delivery timelines to deliver features customers want, faster.
Frequently, tactical decisions are made to add people, invest in more tools, and increase the amount of work in teams’ backlogs without achieving the desired results. Agile transformations introduce methodologies and frameworks without the appropriate support mechanisms for success. To enable high performance and inform strategic decisions, organizations need a new foundation.
During this on-demand webinar, Tasktop Flow Framework Engagement Manager, Kristen Biddulph, presents how Flow Metrics provide that foundation, irrespective of methodology or framework, by surfacing end-to-end data on an organization’s flow of work, providing insights that will help them meet their goals.
Microsoft PPM helps you deliver on business strategies through high-impact outcomes. You can think of the PPM as a lifecycle which comprises of three phases: Ideate, Plan, and Execute.
Ideate: Is the initiation phase in which ideas are collected and projects are proposed. The organization’s business drivers capture the company’s strategy and guide ideation.
Plan: This phase includes preliminary planning of the projects at a high level. Microsoft PPM helps prioritize the projects subject to budget and resourcing constraints. Once projects are approved the solution supports detailed and realistic planning.
Execute: The goal of this phase is to deliver the projects through collaboration of the involved stakeholders.
Built on Microsoft’s cloud Microsoft PPM weaves in cloud services that power the PPM solution with collaboration capabilities, advanced analytics that drive insights and the ability to customize and extend the solution to meet unique needs of your organization.

Next Generation BIM
Sriram Sridharan, COO, Ineight
Today’s BIM solutions offer users an ability to view a three dimensional simulation of the stages of work and/or progress proposed to take place over the course of the project. These simulations are primarily leveraged during the pre-construction phase of a project. The simulation combines schedule data to design plans resulting in what is referred to as a 4D BIM solution. When a software expert designs the model to additionally reflect project costs within the proposed project, this is referred to as 5D BIM.

Removing Uninteresting Bytes in Software FuzzingAftab Hussain
Imagine a world where software fuzzing, the process of mutating bytes in test seeds to uncover hidden and erroneous program behaviors, becomes faster and more effective. A lot depends on the initial seeds, which can significantly dictate the trajectory of a fuzzing campaign, particularly in terms of how long it takes to uncover interesting behaviour in your code. We introduce DIAR, a technique designed to speedup fuzzing campaigns by pinpointing and eliminating those uninteresting bytes in the seeds. Picture this: instead of wasting valuable resources on meaningless mutations in large, bloated seeds, DIAR removes the unnecessary bytes, streamlining the entire process.
In this work, we equipped AFL, a popular fuzzer, with DIAR and examined two critical Linux libraries -- Libxml's xmllint, a tool for parsing xml documents, and Binutil's readelf, an essential debugging and security analysis command-line tool used to display detailed information about ELF (Executable and Linkable Format). Our preliminary results show that AFL+DIAR does not only discover new paths more quickly but also achieves higher coverage overall. This work thus showcases how starting with lean and optimized seeds can lead to faster, more comprehensive fuzzing campaigns -- and DIAR helps you find such seeds.

Securing your Kubernetes cluster_ a step-by-step guide to success !KatiaHIMEUR1
Today, after several years of existence, an extremely active community and an ultra-dynamic ecosystem, Kubernetes has established itself as the de facto standard in container orchestration. Thanks to a wide range of managed services, it has never been so easy to set up a ready-to-use Kubernetes cluster.
However, this ease of use means that the subject of security in Kubernetes is often left for later, or even neglected. This exposes companies to significant risks.
In this talk, I'll show you step-by-step how to secure your Kubernetes cluster for greater peace of mind and reliability.
In his public lecture, Christian Timmerer provides insights into the fascinating history of video streaming, starting from its humble beginnings before YouTube to the groundbreaking technologies that now dominate platforms like Netflix and ORF ON. Observability Concepts EVERY Developer Should Know -- DeveloperWeek Europe.pdfPaige Cruz
Monitoring and observability aren’t traditionally found in software curriculums and many of us cobble this knowledge together from whatever vendor or ecosystem we were first introduced to and whatever is a part of your current company’s observability stack.
While the dev and ops silo continues to crumble….many organizations still relegate monitoring & observability as the purview of ops, infra and SRE teams. This is a mistake - achieving a highly observable system requires collaboration up and down the stack.
I, a former op, would like to extend an invitation to all application developers to join the observability party will share these foundational concepts to build on:
