Making change happen - being ahead of the curve - RICS ArticleDonnie MacNicol
Being ahead of the market and adapting to evolving client requirements means change is becoming the norm for many
businesses, says Donnie MacNicol and Brenda Hales. So it makes sense to do it well and learn from your experiences
Mentors are a secret weapon of young entrepreneurs.
If you have been thinking about how your experience can impact young leaders and increase their chances to succeed, then this is something worth looking into.
In order for employees to be successful at work in the 21st Century, they must effectively use the currency of influence. Persuasion is insufficient. Today's collaborative, participative and changing workplaces require people to promote their ideas and be heard.
Organizational Change Management: Game Changer or Flavor of the day?Deepak Babbar
This abstract reflects some of the practical challenges organizations undergoing business and information technology (IT) transformations face in today’s rapidly changing environment. When organizations embark on these large-scale initiatives, increasingly they are adding organizational change management (OCM) to the mix. This is, perhaps, an acknowledgement that previous initiatives have not met the mark because the people side of change was underestimated or not factored in.
Lack of collaboration is one of the root cause for conflicts. Learn some strategies for collaborating at ease and prevent conflicts. With collaboration at ease getting things done is no longer seem to be harder.

Breaking the Code of Interview Implicit Bias to Value Different Gender Competencies
Bonita Banducci, Banducci Consulting
Live at Santa Clara University - Room #330C located on the 3rd floor of the Learning Commons
Voices 2015 - www.globaltechwomen.com
Session Length: 1 hour
Implicit Bias Workshops and exercises are being shared widely on the internet. Some of the solutions are:
"Determine precisely what skills and attributes you are hiring for."
"Ask exactly the same questions to each candidate."
But what about the implicit bias in determining what skills you are valuing--beyond traditional management and leadership competencies?
How can interviewers recognize the often invisible, unarticulated, undervalued and often misinterpreted competencies of more "relational and collectivist" people--often women and men and women from different cultures?
Bonita Banducci teaches Gender and Engineering class in Santa Clara University's School of Engineering Graduate Program. In video and cartoon representation as well as in person, her students apply Gender Competence®--understanding and skills to work with gender (and cultural) differences as competencies--to job interviews both as the interviewer and the interviewee, as men and women. They show how to "mine the gold" of difference for the best candidate AND to get the job as the best candidate while establishing the value of relational competencies in the workplace and marketplace.

To meet client requirements and reduce risk, some form of alliance is becoming obligatory on many contracts,

Become more politically intelligence in Stakeholder Management
During challenging times there’s pressure on the way we work together and the way that we handle change. Stakeholder management from both the change agent (e.g. a project manager, programme manager, portfolio manager, head of transformation/change, HR Director) and Business As Usual perspectives (i.e. the customers of change programmes) are equally important. Engagement with stakeholders needs alternative strategies to match your unique context. Make yourself less vulnerable to hierarchical power exercised by key players. Stakeholder management skills include analysis, planning, mapping and engagement.

For professional development, I need to use evidence to analyse and incorporate the experiences so that I can form an instructive part for my future practice and work. Professional growth and development is strongly encouraged. So it is advised to become involved with professional associations (Boyle, 2013, p.12). I should participate in professional conferences. Involvement and attending in conferences, helps to develop in professional skills as well as forming and maintaining professional relationship with colleagues. Placement can put me at a distinct advantage when applying for future employment.
6 best practices in stakeholder engagementWayne Dunn
I recently did a piece on 5 mistakes companies make in stakeholder engagement and many of you asked me to give a list of best practices. Here are six.
1. Think Value and Interests – and do it transparently
2. It’s OK to disagree – but, disagree without being disagreeable. And stay curious
3. Do compliance but think and act strategic – check the boxes yes, but that is just the foundation
4. Share the credit, multiply the resources. Find partners!
5. Communicate so you are heard and understood.
6. Define stakeholders broadly and strategically – go beyond compliance

Thinking differently – Introducing the concept of the energised projects orga...Donnie MacNicol
Given the stream of bad news on public and private sectors projects, we suggest that it is time for the project community to think differently. The recent shift in emphasis from failure to success paradigm is a step in the right direction but we still need to know how to create a sustainable, high-‐performing organisation that is capable of meeting APM's vision that 'all projects succeed'. We began our ' thinking differently' project by looking beyond the conventional project management literature. The notion of energy in organisations as an important and renewable resource attracted our attention. Previous research has shown that successful organisations are those that can channel the collective energy to create an organisational ' can-‐do ' climate. We have designed an energy diagnostic that will help us identify energy ' hot spots ' within organisations. These can be significant positive or negative energy states. The idea is that, with understanding, we can do more to promote positive energies and do even more to address the sources and causes of negative energies.

Artificial intelligence (AI) offers new opportunities to radically reinvent the way we do business. This study explores how CEOs and top decision makers around the world are responding to the transformative potential of AI.
The case study discusses the potential of drone delivery and the challenges that need to be addressed before it becomes widespread.
Key takeaways:
Drone delivery is in its early stages: Amazon's trial in the UK demonstrates the potential for faster deliveries, but it's still limited by regulations and technology.
Regulations are a major hurdle: Safety concerns around drone collisions with airplanes and people have led to restrictions on flight height and location.
Other challenges exist: Who will use drone delivery the most? Is it cost-effective compared to traditional delivery trucks?
Discussion questions:
Managerial challenges: Integrating drones requires planning for new infrastructure, training staff, and navigating regulations. There are also marketing and recruitment considerations specific to this technology.
External forces vary by country: Regulations, consumer acceptance, and infrastructure all differ between countries.
Demographics matter: Younger generations might be more receptive to drone delivery, while older populations might have concerns.
Stakeholders for Amazon: Customers, regulators, aviation authorities, and competitors are all stakeholders. Regulators likely hold the greatest influence as they determine the feasibility of drone delivery.
