GIS tools were used to identify areas of land use change, reclassify land use types by nitrogen loading, and calculate the total nitrogen loading within each city boundary and watershed. Drainage basins were also generated and nitrogen loading was summed for each basin to identify how land use changes affected nitrogen levels in stormwater runoff.

BGS uses FME to convert data between formats for projects like updating databases and websites daily, cleaning and standardizing geology maps, automating borehole checking, and converting 3D models to formats like Minecraft. Land use data from aerial imagery and satellite images from 1978 and 2009 were incorporated into a GIS system along with digital elevation models and soil data. The results found increases in urban land use of 8% along with decreases in forest and open space, and a corresponding increase in storm water runoff accumulation at a point in the watershed. The project reinforced the impact of urbanization in increasing storm water runoff but encountered issues applying the method in an already urbanized environment.

Alexandria Water Project Update-Implementation Plan
This document provides an updated project implementation schedule for the Alexandria Water & Wastewater PSP Study from March 2021 to November 2021. The schedule is divided into 4 main tasks: 1) Developing an initial policy statement; 2) Adjusting the scope of work for service contracts; 3) Conducting a feasibility study; and 4) Creating a transaction and implementation plan. Key deliverables include 7 reports providing recommendations and findings, as well as workshops in Egypt to discuss findings and next steps. The schedule notes that Ramadan religious holidays will occur from mid-October to mid-November.
Applications of remote sensing in glaciology
Glaciers are large, dense accumulations of snow and ice that form on land where snowfall exceeds melting over many years. They are distinct from sea ice and lake ice. Glaciers cover 10% of the world's land area and store the largest reservoir of fresh water on Earth. The scientific study of glaciers is called glaciology and involves understanding their relationships with climate, sea levels, and impacts on humans and the environment. Remote sensing techniques such as aerial photography, satellite imagery, and radar are powerful tools for monitoring and mapping glaciers, which are often located in remote areas. Different sensors can detect glacial features, measure glacier flow velocities, and help determine mass balances and snowmelt runoff.
Vegetation monitoring using gpm data over mongolia
Vegetation mapping was conducted over Mongolian land using GPM/DPR satellite data. Backscatter signals from the Ku and Ka band radar were analyzed for different land cover types from 2014-2018. The signals showed incidence angle dependency and seasonal variations that correlated with land cover. Forest had higher backscatter than grass, while desert was lowest. Combining the Ku and Ka band signals using PCA clearly distinguished forest, grass and desert. This new remote sensing method using precipitation radar provides an effective way to continuously map and monitor vegetation dynamics for detecting land degradation.

Alexandria Water Project Update-Implementation Plan
This document provides an updated project implementation schedule for the Alexandria Water & Wastewater PSP Study from March 2021 to November 2021. The schedule is divided into 4 main tasks: 1) Developing an initial policy statement; 2) Adjusting the scope of work for service contracts; 3) Conducting a feasibility study; and 4) Creating a transaction and implementation plan. Key deliverables include 7 reports providing recommendations and findings, as well as workshops in Egypt to discuss findings and next steps. The schedule notes that Ramadan religious holidays will occur from mid-October to mid-November.

Applications of remote sensing in glaciology
Glaciers are large, dense accumulations of snow and ice that form on land where snowfall exceeds melting over many years. They are distinct from sea ice and lake ice. Glaciers cover 10% of the world's land area and store the largest reservoir of fresh water on Earth. The scientific study of glaciers is called glaciology and involves understanding their relationships with climate, sea levels, and impacts on humans and the environment. Remote sensing techniques such as aerial photography, satellite imagery, and radar are powerful tools for monitoring and mapping glaciers, which are often located in remote areas. Different sensors can detect glacial features, measure glacier flow velocities, and help determine mass balances and snowmelt runoff.
Vegetation monitoring using gpm data over mongolia
Vegetation mapping was conducted over Mongolian land using GPM/DPR satellite data. Backscatter signals from the Ku and Ka band radar were analyzed for different land cover types from 2014-2018. The signals showed incidence angle dependency and seasonal variations that correlated with land cover. Forest had higher backscatter than grass, while desert was lowest. Combining the Ku and Ka band signals using PCA clearly distinguished forest, grass and desert. This new remote sensing method using precipitation radar provides an effective way to continuously map and monitor vegetation dynamics for detecting land degradation.

Over the past several years, the authors who create the U.S. Drought Monitor have gained access to an increasing amount of geospatial data to help with their analysis. This includes high resolution precipitation data from the Advanced Hydrologic Prediction Service, soil moisture estimates, vegetation indices, and station data from various networks. The authors now have access to this data in GIS format, allowing them to directly incorporate the information into their drought depiction process. GPS and SRTM Accuracy
This document summarizes a project comparing elevation data from GPS points collected in the field to elevation data from the Shuttle Radar Topography Mission (SRTM).
