This study examined the relationship between in-home firearm access and intimate partner violence among college students in Florida. The researchers analyzed survey data from 670 students collected over five semesters. This presentation aims to present those harms and propose an alternative narrative that respects women's reproductive rights.

More than 75% of sexual minority youth report verbal abuse while 15% report physical abuse, and losing friends due to coming out predicts poorer mental health.

Sexting is prevalent among both heterosexual young adults and young gay and bisexual men in the United States. While sexting is linked to being sexually active, research found it is not associated with increased sexual risk behaviors or poorer psychological well-being. For heterosexual young adults, around 20% reported sending sexually explicit images or videos of themselves, while this number was higher at around 30% for young gay and bisexual men. Similarly, sexting appeared to have no relationship to increased depression, anxiety or lower self-esteem for both groups. This study examined whether gender influences perceptions of fault in divorce. The researcher hypothesized that women would be regarded as more at fault for divorces than men. Participants were randomly assigned a scenario about a divorced man or woman and asked who was at fault. While results did not support the hypothesis, they did align with the stereotype that men are more likely to commit infidelity. The study design may have been flawed by using infidelity alone to define fault.

SECRECY IN THE CHILD’S BEST INTEREST
Most families cannot accept a child with ambiguous genitalia or mixed reproductive organs. In elementary school, bathrooms do not exist for males, females, and others. For normal development, a child must have a gender identity. Therefore, it is best for the child to have a clear gender assigned, one way or the other, than to have a mixed one or none at all.
Consider normal social expectations: everyone who knows a pregnant woman wants to know the gender of her baby at birth. Many people learn the gender of the fetus before birth, setting up a definite expectation. Families express disgust at going home with, not a boy or girl, but an “it.”
Intersex children are often bullied or battered when they try to use the “wrong” bathroom in public places.17 Androgyny, having the appearance and affect of neither gender, is not a good option. If the person's sexual orientation is heterosexual, others will mistakenly interpret the lack of a clear gender as evidence of homosexual orientation.
Furthermore, most children do not need to know about their problems at birth with ambiguous genitalia. If such problems can be corrected, or given a better appearance, then the adult can live and function normally. In fact, some people may not even know they were “sexed” at birth and still live happy lives.
Finally, surgeons and parents at birth do the best they can. They believed that lack of gender at birth was a social emergency and that decision had to be made. It is wrong to second-guess them years later.
ENDING THE SHAME AND SECRECY
In his 20s, David Reimer met Cheryl Chase, who soon became the leading advocate for intersex people and who argued that everyone should know his or her true origins and make their own decisions about their gender and sexuality.
At birth, Cheryl had ambiguous genitalia and was first sexed as a boy, but after 18 months and an unusual appearance, doctors decided to make her a girl. Cheryl's life refuted Money's claim that professionals can assign gender with happy results. Like some other intersex teenagers and adults, Cheryl never felt completely male or female and lived between genders.
Cheryl argues that, “What most harms the intersex child is the attitude that the child suffers from something shameful that must be concealed and never publicly acknowledged.”18 She argues that such children would be better off being told the truth and being allowed to choose, in early adolescence, which gender they want to be. Ideally, the parents would embrace the child as he/she is and not be ashamed.
In the late 1990s, Cheryl Chase and other intersex people challenged the view of Hopkins/Money that early surgery and hormones were good for intersex children. They picketed a meeting in 1996 of the American Academy of Pediatrics. What do we_know_about_sexual_abuse
Very few of us know that 73% of the rape victims know the rapists. Moreover, 40% of rapes happen at victim’s home and 20% occur in the homes of familiar people.
It turned out that most of us have no idea about the effective precautions needed to protect ourselves from the traumatic experience, because we expect danger from a wrong source. A widespread belief is that one should expect a rapist to sit in the bushes in the park late at night, while the reality is different.
My colleague Paulina Grzelak and I were astonished while exploring this topic, as we were quite oblivious to the real situation as well. Therefore, we decided to make a small questionnaire and ask people what they think about rape.
This presentation begins with the analysis of what makes a person become a rapist, which is followed by the comparison of the results of the questionnaire with real data.
I would be grateful if you shared this presentation as many people need this knowledge.
I also want to add that most figures we present come from the States where definition of rape and social situation may differ from ours. Hence, comparing data from the U.S. with opinions from Poland and Ukraine may seem improper. For instance, being forced into sexual contact by husband may not even be recognized as rape in Ukraine, “because it’s his natural right”. And even if a wife admits this fact, social welfare system (which does not exist here, let’s face it) leaves her no option apart from remaining silent, while in the U.S. rape victims are less dependent on family members. Therefore, one has to approach the statistics carefully. Still, we believe that using American data can be justified by the fact that they explore the subject more than any other country.

Rebecca Simpson, a 61-year-old African American woman, was diagnosed with late-stage breast cancer after discovering a lump under her arm. Due to being uninsured and lacking transportation, she had not received a mammogram in 5 years. Her cancer had spread to 17 of 20 lymph nodes by the time it was discovered. Living in poverty with no family support, she struggles to afford treatment and faces barriers to care common among low-income cancer patients. While her prognosis is uncertain, she remains determined and hopeful, helping others who are struggling as she receives chemotherapy through a state assistance program.

Power Grid Model is an open source project from Linux Foundation Energy and provides a calculation engine that is increasingly essential for DSOs. It offers a standards-based foundation enabling real-time power systems analysis, simulations of electrical power grids, and sophisticated what-if analysis. In addition, it enables in-depth studies and analysis of the electrical power grid’s behavior and performance. This comprehensive model incorporates essential factors such as power generation capacity, electrical losses, voltage levels, power flows, and system stability.
Power Grid Model is currently being applied in a wide variety of use cases, including grid planning, expansion, reliability, and congestion studies. It can also help in analyzing the impact of renewable energy integration, assessing the effects of disturbances or faults, and developing strategies for grid control and optimization.
