Dear Customers,
Against the backdrop of
muted global economy,
India’s economy has
been a consistent out-
performer. India is
expected to be the
f a s t e s t g r o w i n g
economy with expected
GDP growth of 7.5% in
2016-17. This is quite a
credible performance in
the backdrop of two
s u c c e s s i v e f a i l e d
monsoons and decline
in exports. The available
data shows a 5.7% year on year growth in eight of the key core sector
industries, against 2.3% last year. The Q4 FY16 figure of GDP
growth of 7.9% has surprised everyone. This momentum is
expected to continue as an effect of the 7th pay commission, OROP,
and pick up in rural demand post good monsoon. Government has
started initiating investment in infrastructure projects such as roads
and railways which is giving the much awaited impetus to the
economy. Brexit and TPP (Trans Pacific Partnership) are the two
developments which might have some impact on the economy,
especially TPP would pose a serious threat to our textile exports in
the years to come.
The monsoon so far has been quite good and has spread over the
country. A good monsoon prediction by the Indian Meteorological
Department is also contributing to the positive sentiment prevailing in
the industry at this juncture. India’s cotton production, however, is
estimated to decline by 10-15% during the current cotton season of
2015-16 (ending September 2016). The Cotton Association of India
has pegged the cotton output of the season at 33.8 million bales
(against 38.6 million bales of last year). The decline in cotton
acreage area by 7% due to preference of the farmers for food crops
and lower sowing in Gujarat coupled with tight supplies in physical
market have resulted in considerable increase in the cotton prices
over the last few months. The cotton prices which are on rise since
June have touched a high of Rs 50,000/candy and now settled at
around Rs 47,000/candy after good rains and softening of
international prices. Since traders are holding the cotton stocks for
speculative gains, the prices are moving upwards which is seriously
affecting the spinning industry as yarn prices are not moving up in the
same proportion. According to India Ratings and Research, the
profitability of ginners and spinners is expected to see at least 15%
fall due to a sharp rise in cotton prices.
The positive news for the textile industry has been the announcement
of a special package of Rs 6000 crores by the Modi government for
the textile and apparel sector. This is expected to help in employment
generation and export promotion. The package includes a slew of
measures which are labour friendly and would help in employment
generation in garment sector. The steps taken will lead to cumulative
increase of USD 30 billion in exports and investment of Rs 74,000
crores over the next 3 years. Majority of the new jobs are likely to go
to women, which will go a long way in triggering a social
transformation through women empowerment. The newly appointed
textile minister, Mrs Smriti Irani, has a tough task ahead to revive the
country’s textile exports which are on decline since the last two years.
This issue of CommunicATE is focusing on A.T.E.’s entry into new
areas of business. The biggest tie-up has been with Savio
Macchine Tessili, Italy, for automatic winders, two for one twisters,
open end spinning machines, and yarn bulking machines. Savio has
been a technology leader world over for quite some time enjoying a
big market share in winders and twisters. Now, with joining hands
with A.T.E. from 1 April 2016, Savio group will make a big mark in the
Indian textile industry in the years to come. With the launch of new
automatic winder EcoPulsarS during ITMA 2015, Savio has
marched ahead of the competitors in terms of technology,
productivity, and quality. The Savio two for one twisters made by the
Indian company Savio India Ltd have already established the market
leadership through two most successful models Cosmos and Sirius.
Another new tie-up has been with Texpa Maschinenbau GmbH &
Co. KG, Germany, for fully automatic cutting and sewing, folding and
packing lines for home textiles. Texpa has been a worldwide market
leader in this segment for many decades and its joining hands with
A.T.E. will give Texpa a wide market coverage and also a strong
service support to the Indian customers. I am also happy to share
with you about our tie-up with Danti Paolo E C, srl, Italy, for surface
finishing machines. Danto Paolo is specialised in making full range
of fabric finishing machines for woven and knitted fabrics covering
sueding, brushing, shearing, raising, and polishing.
In garment sector, our tie-up with Rotondi Group srl, Italy, will bring
in the high-tech pressing solutions for jackets, trousers, jeans, and
shirts to the apparel sector.
This issue also covers some important milestones achieved byA.T.E.
over the last few months in completing some big projects
successfully and bagging some prestigious orders. This issue also
covers maintenance tips for the Ramisch Guarneri calendering
machines, which I am sure, will be very helpful to the maintenance
teams of our customers.
While writing this note, I am delighted to read the news about Indian
model Rohit Khandelwal winning the title of Mr World for the first time
in the history. In Miss World competition, India has already made its
mark a number of times. Perhaps with this positive development,
India has strongly announced its entry into the global fashion arena.
Can our textile and apparel industry, which is part of the global
fashion trade, remain far behind? Perhaps the winds of change are
already around in our industry, which is striving hard for gaining its
due position in the world textile trade in spite of the shaky past. This
reminds me of a famous quote by a Greek philosopher SOCRATES
which goes as follows, “The secret of change is to focus all your
energy not on fighting the old but on building the new”.

3. Spinning:
Savio Macchine Tessili, Italy
Starting April 2016, A.T.E. joined hands with the well-known post-
spinning machine manufacturer, Savio MacchineTessili, Italy.
A 105 year old organisation, Savio has grown to become the world
renowned textile machinery manufacturer that it is today. It has
factories in four locations across the world – Italy, China, India, and
the Czech Republic, with 1550 skilled resources, a turnover of
around Euro 400 million and holds 40% winding market share
globally.
Savio entered the Indian market in 1990 and since then has installed
more than 120,000 automatic cone winding drums across different
plants.
Here is an overview of Savio’s product lines:
Automatic Cone Winder
After introducing Orion, the first fully electronic winder, during the
Paris ITMAin 1999, Savio launched the most successful model Polar
during 2006. This ‘fit it and forget it’ engineering marvel, packed with
numerous novel features, is still ruling the world of post-spinning
even after 10 years of its introduction.
In 2015 Savio introduced the drum-less winder model Multicone. It
is a precision winder mostly required for producing dyeable ‘soft’
package in parallel winding technology. The sophisticated,
electronically controlled traverse mechanism, perfected the
production of dyeable package directly from ring frame bobbin, thus
eliminating a process of re-winding.
During ITMA 2015, Savio introduced EcoPulsarS. This winder
features a unique concept of individual suction management in
each drum. This is a quantum leap in cone winding technology. It
introduced an entirely new concept that has overcome the existing
structural limitations, and results in better efficiency with a smoother
winding process and overall superior package and yarn quality and
helps in saving power bill of up to 30%.
Two for One Twister
Savio has been a manufacturer of quality TFO since the last three
decades. The manufacturing of TFO from Italy shifted to China first
and subsequently to India (Coimbatore) since 2008.

SIRIUS: A premium TFO with all advanced features plus EDS
(Electronic Drive System). This unique feature is meant for producing
dyeable package directly fromTFO.
With this optional attachment, every parameter (speed, twist, warp
angle, etc.) of the TFO can be controlled from a computer without
machine stoppage.
Open End Machine
Savio introduced the fully automatic rotor spinning machine –
FlexiRotor 3000 – during 2007. It is capable of producing finished
package upto 6 kg. The maximum 360 rotors can be installed in a
single machine with 4 no. robots, flexible to move on either sides of
the machine. Two different material types can be processed on either
sides without any mixing. The rotor comes from Suessen, Germany,
the pioneers of the twin disc drive technology. The machine is
capable of running at 160,000 rpm.
Yarn Bulking Winder
This special purpose machine known as Volufil is used in the acrylic
industry. This machine clubs three different processes in a single
machine. Cone to hank winding, shrinking and bulking in a heating
chamber, and finally forming the cone from bulked yarn in hank form.
Savio recently launched this winder on the Multicone platform with a
much bigger package to feed the carpet industry.
Savio has a large presence in India and has partnered many leading
textile mills in the country in their growth and success, such as:
Trident Group
Savio’s association with Trident Group started with its 1st spinning
unit in Barnala, Punjab, with the Savio winders, model Espero.
Subsequently, it went in for Savio’s world famous, Gemini TFO, and
Savio’s automatic cone winders and also the new models Orion and
Polar. Its link winding plant in Barnala is equipped with Savio Polar I
DLS winders supplied during 2009.
Savio supplied the TFO model, Sirius, from its manufacturing unit at
Coimbatore toTrident’s terry towel unit at Budhini, M.P., during 2012.
Thereafter, Savio installed 20x70 Polar L, link winding model Polar I
DLS, and also two cone-to-cone winders at its specialised sheeting
unit in Budhini in 2014. Trident has 162 winders and 62 TFOs from
Savio spread over different locations.
Sutlej Group
Savio’s association with Sutlej Group started since early 90’s. It
supplied winders, models Espero, Orion, and Polar. The group has
also purchased 10 newly introduced EcoPulsarS of 80 drums each
for its upcoming melange plant at Rajasthan Textile Mills. Sutlej
Group has a total of 205 winders.
Ramco Group
Savio’s relationship with this group began in the 90’s with the first
purchase of Savio winders. Savio has supplied so far 159 winders,
at its multiple locations.
Ambika Mills
Savio has been a key partner of Ambika Mills and has supplied more
than 40 automatic cone winders in last couple of years.

Technical Service
Service is the backbone of Savio’s success in India. Savio India has
38 highly trained engineers who not only take care of erection and
commissioning, but also help clients’ technicians in trouble shooting.
Apart from main service stations at Coimbatore and Ludhiana, Savio
India has service stations at Guntur, Bhopal, Ahmedabad, and
Kolhapur. Engineers stationed at these locations are always
available to reach customers’premises at a short notice.
A PCB repairing center located at Coimbatore has 18 highly skilled
technicians who are adept at repairing failed PCBs of old winders,
thus providing a very low cost service to its customers.
Training
There are two training centres located at Coimbatore and Ludhiana.
Training courses are conducted from time to time for the mill
technicians with supporting videos, lectures, drawings, and with
simulators for real conditions. Savio’s motto is to train as many
technicians as possible, so that they can take care of machines to
optimize their performance and increase their life span.
With theA.T.E.-Savio partnership, A.T.E. now offers a major range of

Italy, one of the leading manufacturers of finishing machines.
Backed by a vast experience of over 80 years, Danti Paolo

Danti Paolo manufactures all its machines in its plant at Montemurlo,

Milestones
Creative textiles partners A.T.E. for the expansion
plan of bed linens
Creative Textiles has entrusted A.T.E. with its project order for wet
processing machines. The project order includes Osthoff singeing,
Goller bleaching, mercerizing, washing & pad steam range, Monfort’s
e-control, sanforizer, Monforts Fong's stenter, curing range, Ramisch
Guarneri calender, Mahlo weft straightener, Color Service
dispensing systems, and A.T.E. Envirotech’s zero liquid discharge
ETP. The project is already under execution and a few of the ranges
are already in operation. A.T.E. has rich experience in seamlessly
managing and executing projects to the utmost satisfaction of its
customers.
Himatsingka chooses A.T.E. again for its bed linen
expansion project
Himatsingka is expanding its production capacity of processing
machines by adding stenter, shrinking range, and E-control range
from Monforts, singeing machines from Osthoff and print-paste
dispensing system from Colour Service.
New concept from Monforts for denim finishing at
Arvind
Arvind has recently commissioned its new denim finishing range,
supplied by Monforts which includes eco- applicator, double shrinker
and double palmer. The range is capable of running above 70 m/min.
The eco-applicator, helps in saving energy considerably. Also,
because of its high speed, it reduces the labour cost compared to
conventional ranges. With India’s focus on denim, this concept for
denim finishing from Monforts would surely lead the way forward.
Welspun installs Monfongs’ stenter and Zimmer’s
digital printer for its terry towel project
Welspun has recently increased its terry towel production capacity.
After conducting various trials, Welspun was convinced to go ahead
with Zimmer’s digital printer for printing terry towels. Zimmer has just
delivered its new version Colaris 3 digital printer, and will also deliver
its loop steamer soon.
Recently, Welpsun also installed 5 stenters from Monfongs at its Vapi
plant for terry towel finishing. Also, more stenters were booked for its
bed-sheeting project at Anjar.
A.T.E. commissioned Zimmer coating unit at D
Décor
Zimmer has recently supplied coating unit to D Décor, Mumbai, which
is a premium supplier of home furnishing fabrics. The Zimmer coating
head was commissioned recently, which is being used for various
finishing applications.
Zimmer going strong on the business of rotary
printing machines
Zimmer has booked orders for 10 printing machines in India . The
few key customers are Welspun, Morarjee, Wintry, Arvind, etc.
A.T.E. registers breakthrough order for Color
Service
Colour Service, a well-known supplier for dispensing systems, has
bagged orders for print-paste dispensing systems and dyes and
chemical systems from Himatsingka Linens (Hassan), SRG
(Tirupur), and Creative Textiles (Vapi).
Steep growth for Goller business in India
Goller has become a very strong player in the global market. After
joining hands withA.T.E., Goller has delivered more than 12 ranges in
India. Recently, we have bagged two project orders from MI
Industries (Delhi) for apparel fabrics and Creative Textiles (Vapi) for
bed-sheeting. Recently,A.T.E. has also bagged orders from Nandan
(Ahmedabad) for bleaching range and Bharat Vijay Mills
(Ahmedabad) for merceriser. The fast scaling footprint of Goller
includes two Goller ranges at Arvind Mills (Ahmedabad) and Goller
relaxation range at Vardhman.
Ramisch Guarneri’s successfull installations
Ramisch Guarneri has successfully installed its first Multiflex
calender at Morarjee Mills (Nagpur). Also, a special purpose
calender for technical textiles is installed at Khosla. Two more
Ramisch Guarneri NIPCO calenders are currently under installation
at VHM (Nagpur) and Creative Mills ( Vapi).
A.T.E. Envirotech books new businesses
After the ZLD project of 2.6 mld capacity at Creative Mills (Vapi),
A.T.E. Envirotech has now received orders from Vishal Fabrics
(Ahmedabad) and RSWM (LNJ - Bhilwara). A.T.E. Envirotech has
also supplied RO disk system from Huber, Germany to Dicitex Home
Furnishing (Mumbai).
A.T.E. bags prestigious orders for Hangzhou
Huahong looms
A.T.E.'s weaving team has recently bagged 6 prestigious orders for a
total of 42 Hangzhou Huahong looms from Tamil Nadu and
Maharashtra. This consists of 28 terry rapier looms of GA738 series
equipped with either bottom dobby or jacquard and 14 fabric rapier
looms of GA738/ GA798 series.
Hangzhou Huahong terry and fabric rapier looms of GA799 and
GA738 series are already working successfully in Maharashtra,
Telangana, and Tamil Nadu. These customers are very happy with
the loom performance, quality of products and service support
extended byA.T.E.
Many weaving customers from Maharashtra and South India who
visited these units were highly impressed to receive positive first
hand feedback from the customers about the satisfactory
performance of the rapier looms.

Seminar on Textile Value Chain Industries at Guntur
Textile Park
A.T.E. participated in the seminar on Textile Value Chain Industries
on 30April 2016, at Sri Venkateswara Vignana Mandir, Guntur.
Guntur is one of the major hubs for textiles in country, with 84 lakh
bales of the cotton crop (in the combined state), thousands of
ginneries, and hundreds of modern spinning mills. To complete the
value chain, Guntur Textile Park in association withAP Spinning Mills
Association, AP Cotton Association, Guntur Cotton Ginners Welfare
Association,AP Chamber of Commerce, and other textile parks such
as Tarakeswara, Gautama Buddha, and Mohan Spintex, organised a
one day seminar to promote modern weaving and garment
industries.
Mr Kiran Hanchate, Regional Head (Hyderabad), and Mr Navin
Agrawal, General Manager (Weaving & Circular Knitting), made a
presentation on the latest technologies available for fabric forming,
including products from Karl Mayer warp preparation. More than 400
delegates including prospective customers from Andhra Pradesh
attended this event, in which almost all the leading suppliers of
weaving, preparation, and utilities presented their products.
Denim seminar “A Democracy of Fashion” at
Ahmedabad
Diagonal Consulting India organised a denim conference at IIM
Campus, Ahmedabad, on 19 and 20 February 2016, attended by all
major denim players. Mr Hans Wroblowski of Monforts (Germany)
presented a paper on Eco-Line for denim finishing. It is a unique
configuration with Eco-applicator by which the finishing chemicals
can be applied to the desired level. It’s possible to adjust the carry
over of moisture between 10%-70%. Since the moisture is applied to
the minimum level, it is possible to eliminate the drying range.
Monforts has already installed a few ranges which are working at 70
m/min.

innovations at TAI Conference, Mumbai
Recently, the TextileAssociation of India had organised a conference
on the theme of "Innovations @ ITMA 2015, Milan". Market leaders
Monforts, Mahlo, and Goller have presented their innovations
introduced at ITMA Milan 2015. It generated a lot of interest among
the audience and there was also good interactions during the
session.

Daily activities
 The steel roller surface must be cleaned properly without applying pressure by soft cloth with alcohol or polish paste before starting the
machine
 Check and clean if any particles or dirt is present between rollers
 Clean the safety barriers with alcohol before starting the machine
 Check sensitivity of the metal detector for healthy operation
 Check seam detector and set length for healthy operation

 Once in three months check and ensure that all screws and all components are tight
 It is compulsory to stop the heating system when the operator is not present. It is strictly prohibited to leave the calender at a
temperature above 60 degree centigrade alone without an operator

Cotton:
Indian cotton prices continued to surge upward during June first half
as forecasted earlier. The domestic cotton scenario depicts short
supply and that is leading to a jump in fibre prices. Scarcity of quality
cotton has helped the prices to move upward while demand from the
local spinning mills improved. At the same time, estimated cotton
production was higher than actual production and arrivals were slow
as fibre prices were non-remunerative in the earlier part of the current
cotton season. All these factors lead to a substantial hike in cotton
prices in the local markets and buyers are finding it difficult to source
quality fibre. Cotton prices both local and international may remain
strong and even grow further in the coming weeks.
Polyester Staple Fibre (PSF):
PSF prices witnessed marginal decline and traded volumes remained
average during the first fortnight of June. The decrease in PTA and
MEG prices and weaker demand has compelled the PSF
manufacturers to lower prices. Since, traded volumes were low and
inventory building up, some producers have offered bigger discounts.
However, the fibre prices are unlikely to go below the current level as
margins were wafer thin or in negative. In the Chinese local markets,
the demand for PSF was weak and price dwindled further. In the
Indian local markets, PSF demands continue to be weak and
suppliers have marginally revised prices and volume buying comes
with a price discount.
POY, PTY, and FlatYarn:
Polyester Filament Yarn prices witnessed weakness and declined
during June first half. The polyester raw material prices witnessed
marginal corrections during the fortnight under consideration which
has compelled the yarn suppliers to revise prices. Also, weak
downstream demand and high inventory kept the pressure on
polyester filament yarn producers. In the Chinese local markets,
traded volumes of filament yarns have remained weak in the last
fortnight but inventory levels have grown. In India too, prices of
polyester filament yarns were weak as filament yarn weaving sector
was operating half of its capacity. Therefore, prices of polyester

Viscose Staple Fibre (VSF):
Viscose fibre prices remained stable but in Chinese local markets
prices have witnessed marginal upward movement as demand was
good. Current offered prices from China is less than the offers
originating from Indonesia. VSF prices are expected to show stable
trend in the coming fortnight.

Government announces special package for textile
and apparel sector
The Government has approved a Rs 6000 crore special package for
textiles and apparel sector to create one crore new jobs in 3 years,
attract investments of $11 bn and generate $30 bn in exports. The
special package for textile and apparel sector was approved by the
Union Cabinet. The package is a strategic decision that would
strengthen and empower the Indian textile and apparel sector by
improving its cost competitiveness in the global market.
Salient features of the package announced are:
 Additional incentives underATUFS
The new package breaks new ground in moving from input to
outcome based incentives by increasing subsidy under ATUFS
from 15% to 25% for the garment sector as a boost to employment
generation. This is also made mandatory that disbursement of
capital subsidy would be done only after the expected jobs are
created.
 Enhanced duty drawback coverage
In a unique move, the government is going to introduce a new
scheme which would refund the state taxes on goods in case of
exports. Also, drawback on all industries rate will be given for
domestic duty paid inputs even when fabrics are imported under
AdvanceAuthorisation Scheme.
 Employee Provident Fund scheme reforms
Union Government shall bear the entire 12% of employers'
contribution to the Employers Provident Fund (EPF) Scheme for
new employees of garment industry for the first 3 years for the
employees earning less than Rs 15,000/- per month
 Increasing overtime caps
Overtime hours for factory workers not to exceed eight hours per
week in line with ILO norms and this would lead to increased
earnings for the workers.
 Introduction of fixed term employment
Considering the seasonal nature of the textile and clothing industry,
fixed term employment shall be introduced for the garment sector.
A fixed term workman shall be considered at par with permanent
workman in terms of working hours, wages, allowanced and other
statutory dues.
 Enhanced scope of Section 80JJAAof Income TaxAct
Further to the amendments made in Section 80JJAA of Income Tax
Act in the FY 2016-17, for the garment industry, the provision of 240
minimum numbers of days of employment in a year, has been
relaxed to 150 days looking at the seasonal nature of the industry.

The cotton spinning sector faces challenging times
The domestic cotton spinning sector continues to be under pressure,
even as the market has witnessed some meagre signs of
improvement following prices of the commodity firming up a bit in the
last 2-3 weeks. On the demand-supply side, there is a distinct case of
over supply. Exports of cotton yarn from the country have declined for
the last 2 consecutive years. China whose share in the Indian cotton
yarn exports would account for around 48%, has witnessed its
imports from India coming down considerably ever since it decided to
end its 3 year long progamme to stockpile raw cotton. On one hand
the industry is adding to the capacity relentlessly (the pace of which
has moderated lately), on the other, the domestic consumption has
not seen commensurate increase and thus resulting in an over-supply

Maharashtra ginning units functioning at 50%
capacity
Amajority of the cotton ginning and pressing factories in Maharashtra
are functioning at 50% capacity because of low arrivals of cotton in
the market. Farmers have sold only 40% of their stocks in the
ongoing season and are still holding on to 60% of their stocks in the
ongoing season and are still holding on to 60% of their produce.
There is a lot of disparity in the market as a result of which ginning and
pressing units are finding it difficult to keep their units up and running.
Maharashtra has over 1100 units and only 450 units are functioning at

Bangladesh to become top cotton importer
Bangladesh is set to become the world's largest cotton importer, with
China's cotton consumption waning and its South Asia rival
expanding its textile manufacture. Bangladesh's apparel and textile
industry is boosting its spinning capacity to handle the growth. The
latest statistics suggest Bangladesh will soon overtake China as the
world's biggest importer of cotton fibre. Over the last 8 years, the
number of spinning mills in Bangladesh has increased by more than
50%, while that of installed spindles has nearly doubled. Expansion
in the spinning sector is driven by a boost in textile and garment

Karl Mayer joins carbon fibre concrete R&D project
Karl Mayer Technishce Textilien, a subsidiary of Karl Mayer, has
joined an R&D project sponsored by the German government
designed to help establish the country as the world's leading provider
of carbon fibre reinforced concrete. The largest building research
project currently running in Germany aims to develop a new
composite material made from a carbon fibre reinforcing material and
high-performance concrete. Karl Mayer's contribution to the project
is to focus on the production of biaxial textile structures for reinforcing
concrete components. These biaxial textiles have a grid-like
construction and the load-bearing, carbon fibre material is arranged
at an angle of 0 degree as warp yarns and at an angle of 90 degrees
as weft yarns. The structure is fixed by means of knitted stitches,
while the weft can be inserted in line with the stitches or not in line with

Global cotton use to exceed production in 2016-17
For the second consecutive season, global cotton consumption will
expand slightly and surpass production in 2016-17. Compared to
world cotton production forecast of 104.4 mn bales in 2016-17, cotton
mill use is projected at 110.8 mn bales. After a slight decrease in
2015-16, world cotton mill use is projected to rebound due to modest
growth in global gross domestic product (GDP) and the lagged effect
of lower cotton prices. On the production side, a modest increase is
expected after a 16% reduction in 2015-16 that resulted from
inclement weather and pest damage in a number of producing
countries. Despite reduced global area expectations in 2016-17, a
yield rebound is responsible for the crop increase. India, China and
the United States are expected to account for a combined 63% of
global cotton production in 2016-17, compared with 64% in 2015-16.

Overall shipments slightly down in 2015
Shipments in some of the textile machinery segments experienced
declines in 2015. Deliveries of new short-staple spindles fell by
nearly 8% from 2014 to 2015. Shipped long-staple spindles and
open-end rotors decreased by 61% and 6 % respectively. The
number of shipped draw-texturing spindles fell by 26 percent and
shipments for new circular knitting machines by 6% year-on-year. In
contrast, deliveries of shuttle-less looms increased by 14% in 2015
and shipments of flat knitting machines rose by 52%. (source: Indian

Mills demand special package for home textiles
The Southern India Mills’Association (SIMA) said that made-ups and
home textiles segment produces very high-end products and exports
to all major markets, especially the European Union (EU) and US.
This segment could not achieve the potential growth rate as the
products attract equal tariff on a par with garments in most of the
major international textile markets. Indian made-ups and home
furnishing exports have been facing severe challenge from Pakistan
as it enjoys duty free access in EU and few other markets. The Indian
manufacturers pay much higher conversion charges for the fabric

Textile park, textile tourism inArunachal Pradesh
The Centre has assured Arunachal Pradesh of funds for
establishment of a textile park in the state. The state government is
advised to submit a detailed project report to the Centre at the
earliest. The government expressed willingness to establish a
weaver service centre in Itanagar so that the poor weavers of
Arunachal Pradesh are benefitted. The ministry would release the
second installment under the North Eastern Textile Promotion
Schemes shortly after completing the required formalities. (source:

Indian MMF industry seeks quick steps to control
Chinese imports
Alleging that Chinese exporters are under valuing their man-made
fibre (MMF) produces and dumping cheap synthetic fibre in the Indian
market, industry bodies of MMF makers have sought immediate
action from the Union government to curb the practice. A strong
demand has been made to the government to levy 20% anti-subsidy
duty based on a list of over 20 subsidy schemes that are offered to
Chinese exporters who are resorting to under valuation of fabrics as
they get duty benefits from Chinese government. The total installed
capacity of synthetic fibre in India is 5 mn tonnes, while China has a
surplus of nine mn tonnes. Due to slowdown in China, the country
has been dumping the surplus into India on the back of subsidies

Demand for domestic cotton seeds growing
Desi cotton is likely to make a comeback this year. After the failure of
BT cotton across several states, farmers seem to prefer planting the
native varieties for the upcoming Kharif season. Domestic cotton
seeds were in demand the northern states and were sold out in a
couple of days which means that farmers are looking for sustainable
alternatives. Central Institute of Cotton Research has been
permitted to develop straight line varieties of BT cotton that could

Energy savings of upto 35% with new Eco Booster
HRC
Following developments of its integrated heat recovery system,

the size of the system some of the gas, insoluble in water, can be
filtered out with an additional exhaust air cleaning module. The
