Valence Electronics provides static charge eliminating bars called Valstat VR 80 DC that can be installed on center-cum-surface rewinders to remove extremely high static charges of over ±100 kV from substrates. The bars can be located up to 400 mm away from the web without hampering handling and still reduce charges to near zero levels, providing an effective solution for the challenges of locating static eliminators on rewinders.

Static charges on center-cum-surface rewinder
Problem
In a center-cum-surface rewinder, static charge levels can be extremely high. Depending on the substrate
being processed and the ambient conditions, surface voltages have been observed to be more than ±100 kV.
The other challenge is in locating the static charge eliminator for effective removal of the static charges of the
web on the rewinder.

Valstat
®
VR 80 DC long range static eliminating bars are ideally suited for this application. These bars can
be installed in a location that does not hamper web handling, as shown in diagram above. Static charges are
brought down to near zero levels, even if the static eliminating bar is 400 mm away from the target.
