Restriction Enzyme Lab Report
Restriction enzymes, also known as restriction endonucleases, are found naturally in
some bacterial cells and are used in a restriction digest to produce smaller fragments
of DNA by cutting the DNA. The enzymes work by cutting sequences on the DNA
that are four to eight base pairs long. Restriction enzymes cut DNAon both strands
and produce either blunt or sticky ends depending if the enzyme cuts right in the
middle of the sequence (blunt end) or if the enzyme cuts and produces overhangs in
the sequence (sticky end). The structure of a restriction enzyme includes subunits that
are identical to one another that form a dimer. They also sit properly on the DNA in
order to change the DNA and cut out the strand containing the sequence of interest....

The restriction enzyme is chosen based on the DNA sequence of interest. The type
of buffer used in a restriction digest depends on the restriction enzyme being used. It
is important to keep all components for the restriction digest in freezing temperatures
until it is time to perform the experiment. The restriction enzyme, plus glycerol to
keep the enzyme from freezing, is stored at freezing temperatures so that denaturing
does not take place. Place all of the components in a tube and use a pipette to ensure
that the components are mixed together. Next, the tube is incubated for an hour at
37o C, or the temperature specified for the restriction enzyme(s). In order to
determine where the enzyme(s) cut on the plasmid and how many times the
enzyme(s) made a cut, gel electrophoresis is employed. Restriction enzymes are
important for many aspects of molecular biology such as cloning and restriction
mapping. The enzymes are also useful since there are a lot of restriction enzymes that
cut the DNA at different locations. The importance of different enzymes cutting
different sites makes it possible for scientists to carry out restriction mapping and
ultimately know the length of the DNA and locations where restriction enzymes cut

1.CLIMATE
Environmental change is one the most genuine natural dangers confronting our
world. It is urgently critical for all organizations to reduce greenhouse gas outflows or
emissions from business operations so as to secure the earth against environmental
change and achieve sustainable growth, (Michael.B.2013, p.17) (Barry Dalal and S.
2002. p.9)
Samsung has been building up corporate level approaches or strategies to address the
immediate effect on environmental change. Through striving to decrease immediate
and aberrant outflows of greenhouse gases and avoid potential dangers via
completing activities in voluntary GHG reduction and the improvement of an
inventory. (Michael.B.2013, p.17)

As indicated by the verification, a few suppliers were found to ineffectively oversee
risky substances, for example, not naming unsafe substances or not double layering
containers in preparation for water spillage or leakage. Samsung electronics gave the
suppliers concerned training on unsafe substance management and asked for
improvement. Together with this, we likewise frequently dispatch its worksite
ecological security specialists to our suppliers to offer counseling. (www.acs.org)

Political Theory Has Changed Over The History Of The
World
Political theory has changed over the history of the discipline. Two of the most
influential and arguably most important theorists are the Greek philosopher Plato,
and the Renaissance s Niccolo Machiavelli. These two characters represent the
beginning of idealistic political thought, and a more realist and contemporary way
that politics are looked at even today. The ideals of these two will be discussed and
dissected, to some extent to show how unobtainable Platos ideal is compared to
Machiavelli s realism that is seen in today s political atmosphere in various types
of political systems seen throughout the world. Looking at Plato, you must
understand where and what the timeframe he lived in. He was born in Classical
Greece in the year 427. He was educated, sophisticate, wise, intelligent, and also
wealthy. These were traits that in this time period put you at the top of societal
elites. Plato was a very gifted orator and speaker, giving him the ability to reason
and discuss any topic really, with the ability to win arguments and persuade
people. Due to his status in society, he was very idealistic and used this idealism to
reason how a perfect society should be constructed and run. Plato discusses and
sets forth his political ideal in the Republic. He uses platonic type writing in the
book, using characters to discuss, make points and arguments about how to form
such a society. The ideal city, or state even, is a model for how we as people look at
What Is The Difference Between Four Freedom And
Kennedy s...
The freedom in the United States has been threatened many times. It is up to our
leaders that we elect to be able to defend that freedom. President Roosevelt and
President Kennedy had both given speeches to show their veiws on protecting the
United States s freedom. Both Roosevelt s Four Freedoms speech and Kennedy s
inaugural address state how our freedom is threatened and how they plan on
protecting and defending our freedom. However Roosevelt s speech he more talked
about wanted to defend and fight against the threat to our freedom, whereas
Kennedy s speech he talked more about wanting the American people to
communicate and come together peacefully. As stated by Roosevelt, As a nation,
we may take pride in the fact that we are soft hearted; but we cannot afford to be
soft hearted (19). During the time that Roosevelt gave his speech, Roosevelt was
addressing Congress trying to get them to move the nation away from a foreign
policy of neutrality. Roosevelt thought this way because he had seen others fall to
Hitler s regime. He wanted the people to stand up and take control over their lives,he
wanted them to fight.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The President wanted people to stand up and fight for their beliefs. American freedom
was being threatened and Roosevelt felt that the United States government had great
responsibilities and people were counting on them to make the right decision (29).
Freedom was described in this speech as the basic rights that the government should
be able to give the people. It was said that the basic rights of freedom should never
be lost or forgotten during times of hardship. Freedom was also described in this
speech as, the supremacy of human rights everywhere (Roosevelt
Autonomy Within The Early Childhood Education Field
This essay will firstly explain the general concept of autonomy and provide a
comprehensive definition of autonomy, which including the broad concept and the
meaning of autonomy in the early childhood education field. Secondly will critically
consider how Montessori and Rousseau explained the concept of autonomy, as well as
how they represented the ideas of autonomy theory. Finally, this essay will critically
consider how the autonomy concepts associate to writer s own childhood, and then
will examine writer s own childhood in relation to the context of diverse childhoods,
which will combine with two philosophers theories of autonomy.
In Te whДЃriki, the Ministry of Education (1996) states that young children in
services, such as kindergarten, playcentres, preschool, home based care and childcare
centres, have a widening range of opportunities for independence, choice, and
autonomy пј€
Ministry of Education, 1996, p. 51пј‰. Adults should not ignore the
importance of autonomy in a young child s grow up process due to the critical
impact of autonomy (Zhao, 2014). There are various definitions instead of a
coincident understanding in the contexts of multiple countries and cultures. The
regular understanding of autonomy refers to the independence and free choices that
a people could control when he or she focuses on certain activities without be forced

Princess Diana s life
Princess Diana was a well know person to people all around the world. She was
kind, sweet, and honest to everybody she meets. Diana held many charity events;
she was the president of Barnardo s which is a charity for troubled children and
also helped raise money for other charities such as the AIDS Crisis Trust.(Sherry
Beck PaProcki,62 63) Diana is a very nice person; she would go to hospitals and sit
with patients that didn t have any family that would come visit them so she went

influential person in history and had major contributions to the world. Diana
Frank Spencer was born on July 1, 1961 at 7:45 p.m. to the parents of Johnnie

Sarah, Jane, and Charles; she is the second to youngest child (Sherry Beck
Paprocki, 20). When Diana s Grandfather died, her father got the title of the Earl
Spencer (8th) (Sherry Beck Paprocki, 20). When Diana was six, her parents got a
divorce and she moved with her mom, her mom enrolled her in many private
schools like West Heath but she was never any good at school. Diana had a very
lucky childhood, she grew up rich and even though her parents split her parents
still had money while other people had nothing at all (Sherry Beck Paprocki, 22 25).

The Y2k Hysteria By Richard Landes
This phrase and the belief that the world was formed in 6 days with a 7th for rest,
gave the early Christians a view that the world would last for 6000 years. According
to scriptures the world had a beginning, it had a now in which they were living and a
promised end. This end was proclaimed in the Olivet discourse (Matthew 24, Luke
21, Mark 13), but with warnings that none on Earth would know when. The Y2K
hysteria caused many scholar to wonder how the millennial dates past where thought
of by those that lived in that time.
This essay is a discussion on whether merging of dates with the idea of six millennia
(1000 year) periods was just an intellectual exercise or directly gave rise to
apocalyptic thought. Richard Landes papers ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

This was part of the problem chronologists had in merging dates systems.
Landes diagram showing the various chronological systems, that highlights when
they hit the 6th Millennium. Note: the vertical dotted lines, of the changing a date
system to avert the dangerous millennium. From this it seems obvious that the church
fathers of Augustine and later Boniface must have made the decision to change
dating to avoid the Millennium fever. But that is not quite the full picture. It does not
consider the intervening centuries of learning, translation and scholarship creating
better methods of calculations. Figure 1 chronographical shifts and apocalyptic target
dates. (illustration by Richard Landes.)
The study of chronology has been a pursuit of many a scholar over the ages. We
should note that it was not just early Christians who were interested in this. Rabbi
Yossi ben Halafta, a 2nd century scholar, calculated the beginning date of the
Hebrew calendar from when Adam Eve were created (Year 1 of Jewish calendar)
which (adjusted for modern calendar) was October 7, 3761BC. . The old Testament
part of the Bible was a collection of the religious writings from Jewish Torah, giving
a chronology from Genesis to well before the Coming of Jesus. Various

Louis for a moment thought about dying in space, contrary to popular believe you
didn t die instantly if someone you removed your helmet or got a leak in your suit,
no. You didn t spontaneously combust like a car in an action film, instead you
swelled like a balloon, blood slowly bubbling. You still wouldn t die straight away.
It was like drowning, it would take a minute or two. Maybe that was the kind of
flower wilting death Zayn had been talking about.
In space the two boys drifted weightless. The only think keeping them to their ship
was a tether and a damn lot of shear faith in it. Louis and Liam both flanked the ship,
taking different areas and moving to inspect the outside of the ship. Louis and Liam
both turned on the communication radio within their suits.
Anything out there? Louis heard Zayn s voice beside his ear. Even out here he couldn
t get away from the sodding guy.
I see a shit tone of space and a whole lot of nothing wrong with the ship, Louis
quipped as he clung to the guide rails on the outside of the ship, trying to get closer
to the engine. If anything was wrong he should be able to see, and then all hell broke

It started with Niall s voice, speaking in his ear though not really addressing anyone.

The Asia Pacific region is a rising star in FinTech innovation, but this week, the
blockchain spotlight landed on Singapore as more distributed ledger initiatives from
the private and public sectors took major steps forward.
It s no surprise, considering the Singapore FinTech Festival took place, acting as a
global stage for blockchain innovators to strut their stuff. According to reports in
Singapore Business Review, $2.71 billion was raised by investors for FinTechs in the
final day of the FinTech Festival, with the majority of investors coming from
Singapore itself. Nearly two thirds of that funding will go toward blockchain startups,
reports added.

The Great Debate On Doctor Assisted Suicide Essay
The Great Debate on Doctor Assisted Suicide Euthanasia, in today s world, is a
word with opposing meanings. Originally, it meant a good death (Leming Dickinson,
2016). Since the legalization of euthanasia around the world in the early 1990 s, the
meaning has changed. Several pro euthanasia sites would call it a humane and
peaceful way to end the dying process, by either stopping the course of treatment or
the use of lethal doses of medications (Leming Dickinson, 2016). Con euthanasia
activists are most concerned about the slippery slope idea, being euthanasia is only a
half way house to legalizing murder (Should Euthanasia or Physician Assisted Suicide
Be Legal? Euthanasia ProCon.org, 2016). When discussing a topic so sensitive as
death, an invisible line appears between a right way and a wrong way to die. By the
end of this paper, the hope is to have an educated discussion regarding some social
and political inquiries surrounding euthanasia and doctor assisted suicide.
Over the last couple of decades, 4 states in the U.S. have voted in favor of the
legalization of physician assisted suicide; California, Vermont, Oregon, and
Washington (Should Euthanasia or Physician Assisted Suicide Be Legal? Euthanasia
ProCon.org, 2016). The state of Montana has physician assisted suicide, but only
through a court hearing (Should Euthanasia or Physician Assisted Suicide Be Legal?
Euthanasia ProCon.org, 2016). Given the idea of autonomy, people feel that they

overview of Indian power sector, understood the Indian power grid, functions of
NLDC and many technical terms but later the project Short TermLoad Forecasting
(STLF) using ANN Techniques was assigned to me. I have to forecast the load for
Delhi using ANN Technique.
Load forecasting is the technique for prediction of electrical load. It is much need
for a generating company to know about the market load demand in a deregulated
market for generating near to accurate power. If the generation is not sufficient to
fulfill the demand, there would be problem of irregular supply and in case of excess
generation the generating company will have to bear the loss. There are various
factors which influence the behavior of the consumer load. These factors can be
categorized as Time factor, weather, economy and random disturbances. Accurate
forecasting can maximize the profit of producers and for consumers, it can maximize
their utilities. STLF plays an important role in electric power system operation and
planning. An accurate load forecasting not only reduces the generation cost in a
power system, but also provides a good principle of effective operation. It is trained
using back propagation algorithm and tested. The results obtained from neural
network are presented and the results show that the neural network based

Analysis Of Coronation Of The Virgin By Gengtile Da
Fabriano
Once gracing the lavish floor of Getty Center, the Coronation of the Virgin which was
painted by the extraordinary Italian artist Gentile da Fabriano in 1420, attracted many
attentions by its sacredness, powerfulness and magic of the Christ. At 36 в…ќ inches
and 25 Вј inches size tempera, Christ gently places the ornate gold grown upon
Virgin Marys slightly bowed head by the watching of angels from either side as she
becomes the Queen of Heaven. Since the first century, Christianity has played an
important role in Western Art, which has inspired numerous artists in making their
masterpieces. However, artists must follow the religious rules to build up the imagery
of the Christ, and educate audience about the religious. Coronation of the Virgin by
Fabriano is a perfect presentation of that.
Gorgeously. Striking. Grace. The golden painting is taking up by the two most iconic
symbols of Christianity: Jesus Christ and Virgin Mary. Christ gently placing a
golden grown on the inclined head of the Virgin Mary, who is sitting on the right
side of Jesus; her hands crossed over her chest symbolist of humble, reverent and
loyalty. This position was purposely set by Fabriano. In Christianity art, position is
significant in dividing between good manners and malefactors. For instance, in The
Last Judgment by Giotto di Bondone in 1305, heaven was placed on right of Christ,
and hell was on the left. This ideology was clearly stated in the bible ...before him

Critical Theories Of Reader-Response Theory
People start to express and exchange their opinions about art or literature works and
try to understand the deeper meaning of them with the development of the society.
Different critical theories that are introduced during this semester in Critical
Inquiry have been built based on various of society events or issues in different
periods. After getting in touch with each popular theory, Reader Response Theory,
in the personal opinion, has become one of the commonest theories since it only
considers the personal experience of the readers and how it connects to the work;
the readers would receive different messages and come up with their personal
thoughts and comments toward what they read, see or watch. Different from African
American Theory or LGBTQ Theory, Reader Response Theory does not have a
limitation on the subject position or cultural background because the comments and
thoughts are based on the readers personal experience and from their own view
points, and this characteristic will always benefit people not only in college but also
in their entire life by expanding their horizons and helping them to find and
understand their own lens in professional practices. In Lois Tyson s Using Critical
Theory, she explains that Reader Response Theory is something interesting or useful
about ourselves (13). Although there are several types of Reader Response Theory
focusing on different fields, when people come up with their reflections about a
work, they are led by a
King Arthur, Sir Gawain and Superman Essay

Comparing it to Superman it shows his love life does not compare to this at all.
Chretien s Lancelot is a classic courtly lover. His total devotion to Arthur s queen
gives expression to the twelfth century s exploration of a new code of elegant
courtship. (Medieval Arthurian Romances) Launcelot, falling in love with King
Arthur s queen, wife, Gwynevere is known as a courtly lover because he risks his
life just to save her even though they are not married showing his true devotion to the
King and Queen.
According to Allen King Arthur s favorite knight, Sir Launcelot, has fallen in love
with the king s wife, Gwynevere. The secret love affair is exposed by Sir Modred,
Arthur s son by another woman, and Gwynevere is sentenced to burn at the stake.
While rescuing the imprisoned Gwynevere, Launcelot slays two knights who,
unknown to him at the time, are the brother of Sir Gawain, a favorite nephew of
Arthur s. After a reconciliation, Launcelot returns Gwynevere to Arthur to be
reinstated as queen. (Allen 248)
By this statement the reader can conclude they are resembling bravery in Sir
Launcelot to risk his life to save a woman that is not his, although Gwynevere is not
his wife, but lover, he risked everything to save her life. Also act resembles courtly
love. This idea is also
Mohawk Saint And The Unredeemed Captive
Throughout the stories told in both Mohawk Saint and The Unredeemed Captive, the
unintended consequences of attempting to convert the American Indians to
Christianity are powerful players in the unfolding events. When these Christian
groups arrived in the New World, they came armed with the word of God that they
wished to share among a group of people that have never before encountered the
concept of Christianity. While eventually these relationships improved and Christians
and American Indians began to have closer contact, there were still results from the
conversion process that no one could have expected when the progress had started. In
both of these stories, the unintended consequences of the encounters between

and she continued to be skilled her faith for the rest of her life. This was contrary to
what the Jesuit priests had in mind for their conversion of the Mohawks. As far as
they had considered, savages and saints belonged to different contexts. When
converting the Mohawks, the Jesuits had no intentions of possibly finding a future
saint in their midst. The categories were completely separate. It was only later in
Catherine s life that the members of her community began to recognize that she

she was not extremely popular and died mostly in solitude, the story of her piety
became known throughout the community. The Jesuits, who had believed in the
separation between the Natives and true religious piety, were forced to reconsider
their interpretations of Catherine s life and her religious devotion. Eventually, this
was cumulate in the writings about her life and the process of her canonization.
Although the Jesuits probably never considered finding a future saint among the
Mohawks, they found that with Catherine s story, a compelling case could be made
for her canonization. One of the key

An anti apartheid activist, politician, philanthropist, and South Africa s first black

Rolihlahla Mandela on 18 July 1918 was no ordinary African. Mandela was a hero
of our Catholic faith, who followed the beatitudes as a peacemaker who believed in

to violence only when necessary, and if given the chance to enact on revenge, he

courage during the wars of resistance, he dreamed of making his own contribution to
the freedom struggle of his people who faced apartheid discrimination. So, he

The Ethics Of Genetic Engineering To The Human Body
Genetic engineering to the human body is a touchy subject on both sides of the
political aisle
because you are taking a human being and giving it non human characteristics. In this
essay I will
deliver views from both sides of the aisle with pros and cons.
To start what is genetic engineering? That is the engineering of the human body by
placing and
replacing DNA inside the body.
If you do not suffer you do not know the true feeling of suffering
I understand why people have ethical concerns about genetic engineering, and many
people believe
that the human race should not be playing god . However, the Anopheles Stephensi

you going to tell the children that contract the disease that they are going to die
because you don t
believe genetic engineering is right? Or are you going to leave that to the authorities,
knowing that
your fundamental vision is the reason that this mosquito is not being let into the wild.
Think about
it.
Genetic engineering shouldn t exist
I disagree with the fact that genetic engineering is ethical/shouldn t exist because
there is nothing in
it that serves people in a good way. Sure we can cure diseases and people, but if you
think about it,
overpopulation is a new key factor. Yeah sure we can spend money in genetically
engineering
people, but we ll spend more trying to help the environment.... Another key reason is
that people
won t be natural and the way they re supposed to be. Changing DNA/genes will
result in a worse
factor later on because people will have been modified and then all this modification
will be passed
on to their children and then people will get mutated eventually. Have fun fixing
mutations.
Discrimination will happen because it ll be a new fad, and whomever can t afford it

Mr. Smith Goes To Washington Essay
Mr. Smith Goes to Washington Mr. Smith was too naive to survive as a senator
during the time the movie Mr. Smith Goes to Washington took place. Mr. Smith s
naivetГ© was most evident in his ambitious proposal to start a national boys camp.
However, when false allegations regarding Mr. Smith s motives for starting the camp
surfaced, Smithwas too idealistic to defend himself from the political machine that
accused him of acting in self interest. Making matters worse, SenatorSmith was a
genuinely honest and simple minded man, making it difficult for him to survive
among his scheming colleagues.
Senator Smith clearly demonstrated his lack of government experience and overall

This docility and willingness to vote according to the older Senators was most likely
caused by the new Senators fear of the political bosses. Mr. Smith, however, was
sheltered from knowing that the political bosses even existed and, as a result, was not
afraid to stand up for his beliefs. Mr. Taylor, a typical political boss of Smith s time,
had extreme power in his state and was able to tilt the public opinion of Senator
Smith. He did this through his control of the state media and connections within the
government. Taylor concocted evidence with the help of his government connections
alleging that Smith owned the property intended for the boy s camp and was only
promoting the camp bill so that he could sell his own property to the government at a
high price. Taylor then publicized these false accusations against Smith in the
newspapers that he controlled, thus persuading public opinion and ultimately causing
Smith to be accused of wrongdoing by a Senate committee. Throughout this entire
entourage, Smith was too inexperienced and naive to stand up against Taylor s
political machine and resorted instead to crying at the Lincoln Memorial. Smith only
returned to the Senate after Saunders convinced him that he should fight for his
rights. This situation ultimately proved once again that Senator Smith was too naive
to be an effective Senator. Smith did not realize that the other Senators were inclined
to believe the accusations against his character, and therefore,
Analysis Of Michael Ogbeidi s The First Republic
Michael Ogbeidi recounts that the First Republic under the leadership of Sir
Abubakar Tafawa Balewa, the Prime Minister, and Nnamdi Azikwe, the President,
was marked by widespread grand corruption . Ogbeidi maintains that government
officials looted public funds with impunity. Federal Representative and Ministers
flaunted their wealth with reckless abandon... Politically, the thinking of the First
Republic Nigerian leadership class was based on politics for material gain; making
money and living well .
The immediate civilian regime after independence did not last long. Grand corruption
was pervasive with records of abuse of office, personal material aggrandisement,
kickbacks, nepotism, awarding contracts to front companies, lodging ... Show more

Ogbeidi argues that the 1966 coup was a direct response to the corruption of the First
Republic . For Effeh, it follows that the ideals for economic emancipation the
supposed inspiration behind the quest for independence has become the subject of
escapist antics, grandiloquent rhetoric, and/or outright buffoonery . However, amidst
all this rhetoric, people seemed to overlook the complexities within the system that
nourished and sustained the unwavering wind of grand corruption and rather greater
emphasis was laid on its manifestations and consequences as will be depicted in the
speeches of succeeding military regimes as will be analysed in the next section (
section 2.4).
2.4 Grand Corruption (The Nigerian Military Connection)
Research indicates that the military played very prominent roles in sustaining grand
corruption in Nigeria as corruption, already bourgeoning under the early politicians,
became entrenched under the military rule . Military coups forcefully circumvent
democratic institutions and because of their illegitimacy, it can be argued that the
track records of the military portend that they had little regard over the well being
and welfare of the populace and as such pursued no mandate of accountability and
transparency towards the people. The military rulers were able to perpetrate their
The Pros And Cons Of Music Censorship
Censoring music will limit the creativity and viewpoint of other people; which is
causing our freedom of speech becoming eradicated and adds on to the shortcoming
of understanding other people s perspectives. People have different stances on life,
and want to canvass the things that they lived through. This is where foul language
and censorshipis most debated.
Cons of Music Censorship
Music censorship is the editing and cutting of specific words or phrases for a purpose
in order to bound distinct subject matter from young minds and to prevent more
wrongdoings in the inferior generations. The problem with censorship isn t just the
reigns on the free mind, but on what the mind can bestow as a gift to others. Music
serves more than just as a means of entertainment. Music conveys messages to the
world, and professes problems that are puzzling to deliberate with parents. The bad
thing about censoring music is the fact that our right to expression is denounced by
other people uncomfortable with certain musical topics (Lombardo, 2017).
Censorship is meant to mask certain words and phrases from younger audiences as to
not warp young minds into thinking that doing drugs, drinking and suicide are
acceptable (Lombardo, 2017).
Origin of music
The start of music itself is difficult to pinpoint, but we began to notice the importance
of music during the slave times and how much it helped them during the laborious
times. Since the slave times, singing has always been important in the African
American culture. In the late 1700s they sang about their sorrows and how much
they wanted to go home. Singing was also used as a means of communication, slaves
sang to find other that were kin to them and to express feelings and emotions (berry,
2017).
Slave Times. Wade in the Water was a song sung by former slave Harriet Tubman.
Wade in the Water served as a warning for other slaves to go through the water to
mask their scent from the slave catching dogs (berry, 2017). In order for slaves to
understand she had to sing a song since most were uneducated, but they could
understand through music.
Music with a purpose. Music serves a purpose throughout our lives, it is more than
just entertainment and something to use for background

Symbolism In The Bell Jar
Sylvia Plath uses many literary devices to convey her purpose in The Bell Jar such
as symbolism. The Bell Jar itself is used as symbolic representation of the
emotional state Esther is in. The glass jar distorts her image of the world as she
feels trapped under the glass. It represents mental illness , a confining jar that
descends over her mind and doesn t allow her to live and think freely. Symbols and
images of life and death pervade The Bell Jar. Esther experiences psychological
distress which is a motif in the novel. The death of Esther s father and the
relationship with her mother is a possible reason for her illness. Sylvia Plath
expresses the difficulties Esther faces and parallels her struggle with depression and

She can t find the will or courage to kill herself. When she tries to drown herself,
her heart beats, I am I am I am. It repeats the same phrase when Esther attends Joan
s funeral. I lay, trying to slow the beating of my heart, as every beat pushed forth
another gush of blood (Plath, Chapter 19.) She tries to suppress her body s natural
reaction to pump blood, which is actually threatening her life. The beating heart is an
important symbol in this novel, because it shows the readers a soft side of Esther
because her heart still wants to live, but her mind is the one that s hurting her, which
goes along the theme of Mind Vs. Body. After Esther s treatment under Dr. Nolan,
the readers can see that she s finally allowing herself to live.
For Esther, the bell jar symbolizes madness. She is inside an airless jar that gives
her a negative look at the world and prevents her from connecting with the people
around her. She feels as if she is trapped under the jar and people from the outside
world are watching and judging her. Sylvia Plath titled the book Bell Jar because it
symbolizes how Esther feels, and it shows how she feels, being cut off from the
normal world. It is Esther s own metaphor for describing what she feels like while
she is suffering her nervous breakdowns. Even though Esther can see through the
bell jar to the outside world, the glass jar changes the image of the world for her.

Religious Influences
Religious Influences
In the United States people are allowed to think and live freely, there are laws so
that the population has the opportunity to believe, follow, or praise whomever they
please. But do these laws really abide by everyone s beliefs? It is obvious that the
United States is changing its view points from its traditional way of thinking and
progressing to a more tolerant stance which is more excepting of everyone; for
example, gay marriage was legalized during June 2015. But for issues like abortion,
it is still a controversial topic due to opinion and religious stance. Religion can be a
great thing for an individual, but should not be able to affect the human rights of
anybody else. Across the world people tend to inherit their religious preferences from
there family. For example, in the United States about 70.6% of the population says
they are a type of Christian (Wormald). Even though the United States allows its
people to practice any religion they choose, many laws have been passed due to the
favorability of the Christian religion. But lately the ... Show more content on

Things like this can also have a positive effect on the community. It can help people
come together closer as a family and help with meeting new friends with similar
interest. Growing up with a strong religious influence can also have some positive
effects on a person s personality. For example, Christians believe that if you re a good

of gives an incentive to be a good person and to do right by
It Is Voting Season Again
Since the origins of the first constitutional convention calling for the alteration of the
constitution, through our American history we have seen the rise of the two party
system. Initially however not officially through the opposition of the ratification of
the new constitution, we saw the first true political schism in the debate of the
constitution s ratification. Creating the birth of Federalist and Anti Federalist
movement. With the simple contrasting beliefs such as the opposition to a strong
centralized government (Anti Federalists) came the growth of those others which we
still fight for or against today. However we can call such divisions within our history
the baby steps onto to what would become a natural phenomena of the two party
system. While not during Washington s first electionbut not limited to his re election,
within the sidelines of his presidency some tension between Jefferson and
Hamilton began to arise. The beginning of the butting heads of Federalists v.

The Good People In Cormac Mccarthy s The Road
In the novel, The Road by Cormac McCarthy (published 2006), a young boy and
his father set out on a journey in a dangerous, deadly, post apocalyptic society where
everyone is out for themselves. With cannibalism all around, the son and his father
fight to stay alive. Not many people survived the unknown event that occured,
making it difficult for difficult to trust anybody and to find the items they need.
Most of the people at still survive are what they call the bad people causing the boy
and his father conquer evil and survive on their own. Throughout the novel, the father
cares for his sonand protects him at all costs. In the most difficult of situations, good
people will focus on others more than themselves because they poses love and
kindness.
To begin, loved ones will put each other before themselves in difficult situations.
Mccarthy explains a night on the road as the father speaks to his son about how
how he will always protect him and care for him. The fact that the father told his
son he was appointed by god (McCarthy, 77) to protect him symbolizes that the
father is his sons god on earth. His father will always protect him and do what is
best for him. The fact that the father alluded to god when he was talking to his son
reassured the child that nothing bad will happen to him. Also, the repetition of the
words, we will always be (77), shows how the father makes sure that his son is
confident in the fact that they are the good guys (77), This portrays a
Study World Religion
World religion includes a wide ranging and rather an influential spectrum. Therefore,
studying world religion allows a person to enrich his or her own experience through
several aspects of its study. This week s assignment includes ten reasons that studying
world religion remains important. Of the ten articulated reasons, I chose intellectual
questioning as my greatest motivation for the study, and appreciation for the arts as
the least significant factor associated with the study of religion(Molloy, 2010).
Although religious beliefs vary from person to person, the study of different religious
beliefs allows for a greater spiritual knowledge within one s own beliefs, thus
providing the greatest motivation for studying religion. When
Online Learning Vs. Traditional Learning
The topic I have chosen to focus on for my final project is Online Learning vs
Traditional Learning Nowadays, education becomes one of the important things in
human life. Most people are aware of the necessity of a higher education. In this
present day with the technology there are more options to obtain education. Besides
attending traditional schools, people can get an online education. Although there is a
similarity between online education and traditional education, the differences
between them are more noteworthy. To summarize, the topic presented in this article
is about online courses which are widely used in colleges providing easy access to
course materials, classroom discussions, and feedback to instructors. The course
materials and activities may be accessed from any computer, whether it is from the
University or from the comfort of your own home. The premise or premises for the
argument is/are teaching students 30 at a time is expensive and becoming relatively
more expensive. The productivity of teaching, measured in, say, kilobytes transmitted
from teacher to student per unit of time, hasn t increased much. Thus, the opportunity
cost of teaching has increased, an example of what s known as Baumol s cost
disease. Teaching has remained economic only because the value of each kilobyte
transmitted has increased due to discoveries in (some) other fields. Online education,
however, dramatically increases the productivity of teaching This topic is relevant

Plato and John Rawls. My thesis will support Plato s idea of moral political
communitywhich is better than John Rawlsbecause it presentsa community with order
and a concern for the well being of all not just one. According to Plato in the words

worker can become a guardian proper if he has the capacity to do it. Also, a
guardians proper, son, can become an auxiliary or a worker if he does not have the
capacity to do the job of a guardian. In all this I can see that Socrates, being a
philosopher and wise, is hesitant to give the answer. Certainly, he has a belief
about the matter being said and was ready to give his friends the answer, but after
reading the dialogue of the Republic, one would conclude that Plato wants his
readers and his questioners to be active participants in the dialogue. This can be seen
when Socrates questions his friends, quot; Can you think of any tactics to make them

opinion of a subject, that is how it should be, one has to define the subject.
Socrates says, quot;I ve got a pretty good idea of what you re getting at, I said, it

future of all this will be decided by popular consensus, not by us. quot; So we can

Divine Kingship Essay
In Ancient Egypt around 1570 1070 BCE people believed that their kings were a
reincarnated version of a God, this is where Divine Kingship derived from. Kings
were there to assure the people of peace and justice, they also made sure their
people were safe and tried to protect the country from danger. The people correlated
the current living king to Horus, he was the god of the sun and the sky which is
something the people immensely valued. Throughout the Old Kingdom, Middle
Kingdom and the New Kingdom they viewed divine kingship differently as other
parts of Asia. The Egyptian people referred the king or pharaoh, a term which
came later, as the Highest Priest of Every Temple because they believed they were
living gods on earth. The pharaoh was related to Horus, the god of the sky and
kingship, while he lived and when he passed he became Osiris the god of the dead,
their beliefs originated from Egyptian mythology. The pharaoh was highly
respected not only because he owned all the land in Egypt but they thought the
pharaoh possessed the ability to communicate to the other gods. This gave the
people the allusion if they were obedient the gods would bless them with an
abundance of food. Ramesses the II was referred to as one of the most powerful
pharaoh of the Egyptian Empire. During his reign he concentrated on building
temples and monuments while expanding the cities. Ramesses II held 14 sed
festivals which are celebrated for the rule of the pharaoh. He was one of the
longest living pharaoh dying at the age of 90, this caused the people to think he
possessed more godly power since the average human did not make it to that age.
In Mesopotamia, they viewed divine kingship differently, their kings were not
seen as a reincarnation of god like in Egypt but more as a representative of god. In
the legend of King Sargon of Akkad it explains the ritual of the god announcing
who his son is so he can take the throne, it explains how the king is not an actual
god but he is related to god. The king was associated with the god of the moon and
sun, sometimes they would be identified with the god of their town since they had
a god for every aspect of life. Divine kingship was a very significant part of the
people s life

Value of Philosophy Essay
Philosophy is the study of examining and thinking about questionable ethical

What is Russell s essay about? Present Russell s position in your own words.
Bertrand Russell s essay addresses many issues concerning philosophy. In the writing,
he states philosophy s nature, value, and criticisms. The essay explains these
aspects of the study of philosophy in relatively different ways. The main idea for

It states that even though philosophy doesn t give us a certainty of true answers, it
suggests many possibilities which enlarge our thoughts and free them from tyranny
of custom. He also supports the idea that philosophy is beneficial because it
enriches intellectual imagination . The essay brings up the points of the practical
man, and why they are at a loss of intellectual imagination because they don t
explore the unknown by viewing life as simple. As evidence, he uses an example of
mass disease and poverty of a society. The theory is that in those conditions, there
would still be much to be improved to produce a valuable society. Even if the
society has the proper food supplies, they need the goods of the mind (knowledge)
to build a well governed society. He believes practical men undermine that aspect,
thereby explaining their lack of intellectual imagination. The next argument is that
philosophy saves us from convictions, prejudices, and cultural beliefs. The affect
that that has on a person is to open up a fresh prospective with very little bias. He
believed for this to be beneficial to people socially, by developing empathy which
helps you understand others points of view. That theory goes hand in hand and gives
a fine segway to his fourth and final argument of the freedom and equity learned from
philosophical contemplation reflecting in your personality (action and emotion). The
The Hobbit, And The Lord Of The Rings
The interaction of fate and free will in the primary world is a very complex,
intertwined phenomenon. However, in Tolkien s works The Silmarillion, The
Hobbit, and The Lord of the Rings, there is a recognizable pattern that is set. More
specifically this pattern regarding fate is established cosmologically through his story
of creation (the Ainulindale ), and the precedent is set for how individual choice
affects the events that follow. This pattern will be used to establish how Tolkien
views the effect of determination on determinism throughout his other works.
According the story of the Ainulindale , the Valar Melkor attempted to go against the
harmony of the song of Illuvatar.1 To this end he left to Middle Earth upon its
creation to... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Feanor chose freely to pursue the Silmarils, just as easily as he could have chosen to
destroy the Silmarils. This calls into question the cosmology in The Silmarillion,
because Feanor essentially went against the will of the gods on Middle Earth at
the time, and forsook his happy life for greed over a physical object. He was
allowed to make this choice however, and not even the gods stepped in the way to
change his decision.6 Ultimately it was irrelevant, however, due to the oath he
invoked he was fated never to obtain the Silmarils, in fact they were eventually lost
to everyone and caused more death and chaos than the beauty they were intended to
be.7 One such event that was spurred on by the chase for the Silmarils was the
murder of Thingol by the dwarves. This led to animosity that was prevalent in The
Hobbit, which was thousands of years later.8 The acquisition of the Ring by Bilbo
is another matter of ambiguity when it comes to fate and free will, however it was
stated explicitly that the Ring had agency and it s primary goal was to return to it s
master.9 The fact that the Ring exerted a type of free will in it s choices of bearers
is an extraordinary feat, but ultimately it serves the will of Sauron, so even

He was an assembler for the Coleman Company from 1972 to 1973. Then in 1974
Rader worked at a Wichita office which dealt with ADT Security Systems, the
company s main idea was was selling and installing commercial alarm systems. All
according to Marilyn Bardsley, this is how Rader learned to disable home security
systems. He would later use this knowledge in his killings. Rader s first victims
were the Otero family, a family of four. As reported by Juan Ignacio, he did not
know these people before committing the murder which he said was a part of his
fantasy. Dennis broke into the family s house by coming in through the unlocked
back door and cutting the phone lines. He confronted the family at gunpoint and
took them into a bedroom. Rader then tied all of them up with rope and
individually suffocated them one by one. He then took the family s car keys and
drove away in escape. After a killing, Dennis was famous for sending letters to the
police and local news. His letters described the specific way of his killings. He
would anonymously send multiple letters each with very specific details of his
crimes. According to Steven Singular, his first letter was hidden in an engineering

claiming he was responsible for the murders of the Otero family, Nancy Fox and

Marijuana Dispensaries are a Quick Fix to an Economic
Crisis
Need a quick fix to the current economic crisis? How about opening thousands of
marijuana dispensaries, supplying tens of thousands of Americans with jobs, and
bringing in billions of tax dollars to the government. Is marijuana a threat to our
society and our youth? Or is it a plant, capable of easing the pain of the sick, inhibit
the growth of cancer cells, rejuvenating the weary, and bringing ease to our
stressful lives. The war on drugs has been a failure and it affects us all! The current
cost of the war on drugs is 51 billion dollars annually and not only has marijuana
use risen but it has become cheaper and easier to get. A recent survey conducted by
the Pew Research Center stated that 48% of adults in America have tried marijuana
and 40% had done so in the past three years. Legalizing marijuana would benefit the
country in many ways.
Opening dispensaries to legally sell the marijuana to customers would create
thousands of jobs to help with the current economic crisis. The dispensaries have to
hire people to help with the growing process and to sell the marijuana in the
dispensaries. Legalizing marijuana would also create jobs for the people who grow,
process and sell industrial hemp. It would create jobs at farms, manufacturing plants
and distribution shops. It creates a whole new industry, therefore creating jobs in
every part of the industry.
Legalizing marijuana will hurt major drug cartels. The office of National Drug
Policy has said that as much as

Telemedicine Is The Practice Of Delivering Medical Care
Telemedicine is the practice of delivering medical care from a distance through
technological applications which allow for the exchange of medical information
(Gray, Armfield, Smith, 2010). Telemedicine is defined by the World Health
Organization (WHO) as the practice of healthcare using interactive, visual, and/or
data communications which includes healthcare delivery, diagnosis, consultation and
treatment, as well as education and transfer of medical data (Santamaria Kapp,
2013). Telemedicine provides an opportunity to increase access to medical care for
people in rural communities where access to specialized woundcare may be limited.
Telemedicine also improves access to healthcare for the growing population of
people who have... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Wound healing is an ideal area for the development of telemedicine since information
can be transmitted accurately directly to the primary care physician or nursing staff
using existing technology. Chronic wounds have become a national health problem
due to the high incidence of occurrence, high cost, and social implications. Chronic
wounds and the care that is needed to treat them is costly, they are often very painful,
and there are other risks associated with infection and possibility of death. Chronic
wounds also influence many other quality of life issues which include psychological
health, fulfillment with daily life, and financial/caregiver burden. A chronic woundis
defined as a wound that has not healed within a 30 day period. Current estimates
reveal that nearly 5 million patients in the United States have been identified as
having chronic wounds, and that over 1 2 million Americans develop new pressure
ulcers every year. The cost of treating a common chronic wound such as a pressure
ulcer, has been estimated to range from $4,000 to $40,000. Many people who require
wound care services have comorbidities and often require multiple consultations and
long term follow up care. Individuals may live at home or in residential care facilities
and have difficulty tolerating travel and need to travel with an assistant. A more cost
effective option of maintaining the patient and clinician relationship is to utilize
telemedicine. There are many benefits and

Norman Mailer s The Fight fits a mold of story telling described by Jerome Bruner,
but not in the ways expected. The characters are more than just characters and the
plot fits more a mode of telling than an actual plot. Considering Bruner s features
of narrative that he describes in The Narrative Construction of Reality , through an
illustration of canonicity and breach, the protagonist of The Fight is the The
Rumble in the Jungle itself, while the antagonist of the story is the breach of the
fight. Canonicity and breach, as explained by Bruner, is the breach of a canonical
script. This breach breaks the norms or standards of what is expected. A tale must
break the normal state to be worth telling and hold value in daily living. A breach
must differ from the norm, but the method of defying this norm is up to the teller.
The canonicity of the story is the fight itself. Canonicity would be the desired
outcome, without any changes or obstructions. The fight in its simplest form was
what Don King staged. He wanted to see the better fighter, former heavyweight
versus current heavyweight. This is the protagonist of the story. People wanted to
know who was the better fighter, and also wanted to see a good fight. King wanted
to promote professional boxing. At its simplest form, this is what the viewer or
reader desires, so The Rumble in the Jungle is the canon and protagonist of the story.
The breech in the story is the obstructions put on the fight. One of the largest of
Essay about The Beauty Myth
By: Kelly Winch
The Beauty Myth, published by Doubleday in New York City, hit the shelves in
1992. Naomi Wolf wrote this 348 page book. Wolf attended Yale University and
New College, Oxford University, where she was a Rhodes Scholar. Her essays have
been printed in many well known magazines and newspapers, including Esquire and
the New York Times. The Beauty Mythwas Wolf s first book. She has also written
two other books, Fire With Fire and Promiscuities. Wolf is a recognized feminist.
She has done a lot of writing and has spoken to many audiences about issues
involving feminism. In The Beauty Myth, Wolf s basic thesis states that there is a
connection between female liberation and female beauty. She writes: The more legal

Flaws, wrinkles and other problems are airbrushed out of the picture. Wolf discusses
the effect that these standards are having on women in the workplace. A womans
beauty, or lack of it, can be used against her. In 1986, Mechelle Vinson lost a sexual
harassment case. Vinson was young and В‘beautiful and carefully dressed. The
district court ruled that her appearance counted against her. (Wolf 38) In Hopkins
v. Price Waterhouse, Ms. Hopkins was denied a partnership because she needed to
learn to В‘walk more femininely, talk more femininely, dress more femininely, and
В‘wear makeup . She brought in more business than any other employee. (Wolf 39)
I believe that this book has value and people from all walks of life should read it.
We all need to become much more aware of how strong and how damaging this
kind of media influence is. Women and men need to realize that there are
companies in our culture that thrive on making us feel bad about ourselves, such as
cosmetic companies, health clubs, clothing designers; anyone that is trying to
change us. The book was well written and extremely interesting. The reviews on the
back cover say it all; that this book is essential reading. I will recommend it to all of
my friends. Hopefully those who are very self doubting and considering cosmetic
surgery will realize they are trying to fit into an abnormal standard of beauty.

The Battle of Bunker Hill Essay
The Battle of Bunker Hill The battle of Bunker s Hill was one of the most important
battles during the Revolutionary War. On June 17, 1775, the Battle of Bunker Hill
took place. Fought during the Siege of Boston, it lent considerable encouragement to
the revolutionary cause. This battle made both sides realize that this was not going
to be a matter decided on by one quick and decisive battle. The battle of Bunker Hill
was not just an unplanned, random attack on British soldiers preformed by a few
crazed colonists. The battle was the result of struggle and hostility between Great
Britain and the colonies for many years. The feelings of angst were due to the simple
fact of the taxes the British were placing on them combined with the... Show more

These were not the only incidents that caused unrest to exist between the Colonies
and the British. There had been incidents between British soldiers and colonists for
some time, due mainly to the Quartering Act. These incidents finally erupted into the
Boston Massacre, an event that resulted in colonists deaths and more distrust. These
feelings of discontent and the growing fear of an uprising would lead the British to
proceed to Lexington and Concord and destroy colonial military supplies. This left
the colonists with the feeling of hatred and total malice towards the British. Neither
side trusted the other, and had concerns that the opposition would launch an attack
upon them. When the British planned to occupy Dorchester Heights on the Boston
Peninsula, the colonists became alarmed at the build up of British troops off the
coast. The colonists decided that action had to be taken; they had to stop the
threatening British movement in this territory to protect them from an attack.
It was because of this as well as the many small skirmishes through the years, which
would lead the colonies into a confrontation with the British. The Battle of Bunker
Hill started when the colonists learned about the British plan to occupy Dorchester
Heights. The colonists were unnerved by this news. They, the Colonists

The Brothers Karamazov By Fyodor Dostoyevsky
The mystery of human existence lies not in just staying alive, but in finding
something to live for. Fyodor Dostoyevsky, The Brothers Karamazov.
Life goals are something to cling on and can be defined as end goals of our life.
Without it we are living a life without any clear direction or focus. As per what Earl
Nightingale said, People with goals succeed because they know where they are
going... It s as simple as that.
The process of setting goals is so crucial since it helps to motivate yourself to turn
your vision into reality. The first step in setting life goal is observe yourself. One
must choose a goal which attract them and can make them hang on it for longer term
without hesitating about the amount of time need to be spent.

  • 2. Restriction Enzyme Lab Report Restriction enzymes, also known as restriction endonucleases, are found naturally in some bacterial cells and are used in a restriction digest to produce smaller fragments of DNA by cutting the DNA. The enzymes work by cutting sequences on the DNA that are four to eight base pairs long. Restriction enzymes cut DNAon both strands and produce either blunt or sticky ends depending if the enzyme cuts right in the middle of the sequence (blunt end) or if the enzyme cuts and produces overhangs in the sequence (sticky end). The structure of a restriction enzyme includes subunits that are identical to one another that form a dimer. They also sit properly on the DNA in order to change the DNA and cut out the strand containing the sequence of interest.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The restriction enzyme is chosen based on the DNA sequence of interest. The type of buffer used in a restriction digest depends on the restriction enzyme being used. It is important to keep all components for the restriction digest in freezing temperatures until it is time to perform the experiment. The restriction enzyme, plus glycerol to keep the enzyme from freezing, is stored at freezing temperatures so that denaturing does not take place. Place all of the components in a tube and use a pipette to ensure that the components are mixed together. Next, the tube is incubated for an hour at 37o C, or the temperature specified for the restriction enzyme(s). In order to determine where the enzyme(s) cut on the plasmid and how many times the enzyme(s) made a cut, gel electrophoresis is employed. Restriction enzymes are important for many aspects of molecular biology such as cloning and restriction mapping. The enzymes are also useful since there are a lot of restriction enzymes that cut the DNA at different locations. The importance of different enzymes cutting different sites makes it possible for scientists to carry out restriction mapping and ultimately know the length of the DNA and locations where restriction enzymes cut on the

It is urgently critical for all organizations to reduce greenhouse gas outflows or emissions from business operations so as to secure the earth against environmental change and achieve sustainable growth, (Michael.B.2013, p.17) (Barry Dalal and S. 2002. p.9) Samsung has been building up corporate level approaches or strategies to address the immediate effect on environmental change. Through striving to decrease immediate and aberrant outflows of greenhouse gases and avoid potential dangers via completing activities in voluntary GHG reduction and the improvement of an inventory. Samsung electronics gave the suppliers concerned training on unsafe substance management and asked for improvement. Together with this, we likewise frequently dispatch its worksite ecological security specialists to our suppliers to offer counseling. (www.acs.org) Figure. 1. Coltan (Columbite Tantalite)
  • 4. Political Theory Has Changed Over The History Of The World Political theory has changed over the history of the discipline. Two of the most influential and arguably most important theorists are the Greek philosopher Plato, and the Renaissance s Niccolo Machiavelli. These two characters represent the beginning of idealistic political thought, and a more realist and contemporary way that politics are looked at even today. The ideals of these two will be discussed and dissected, to some extent to show how unobtainable Platos ideal is compared to Machiavelli s realism that is seen in today s political atmosphere in various types of political systems seen throughout the world. Looking at Plato, you must understand where and what the timeframe he lived in. He was born in Classical Greece in the year 427. He was educated, sophisticate, wise, intelligent, and also wealthy. These were traits that in this time period put you at the top of societal elites. Plato was a very gifted orator and speaker, giving him the ability to reason and discuss any topic really, with the ability to win arguments and persuade people. Due to his status in society, he was very idealistic and used this idealism to reason how a perfect society should be constructed and run. Plato discusses and sets forth his political ideal in the Republic. He uses platonic type writing in the book, using characters to discuss, make points and arguments about how to form such a society. The ideal city, or state even, is a model for how we as people look at
  • 5. What Is The Difference Between Four Freedom And Kennedy s... The freedom in the United States has been threatened many times. It is up to our leaders that we elect to be able to defend that freedom. President Roosevelt and President Kennedy had both given speeches to show their veiws on protecting the United States s freedom. Both Roosevelt s Four Freedoms speech and Kennedy s inaugural address state how our freedom is threatened and how they plan on protecting and defending our freedom. However Roosevelt s speech he more talked about wanted to defend and fight against the threat to our freedom, whereas Kennedy s speech he talked more about wanting the American people to communicate and come together peacefully. As stated by Roosevelt, As a nation, we may take pride in the fact that we are soft hearted; but we cannot afford to be soft hearted (19). During the time that Roosevelt gave his speech, Roosevelt was addressing Congress trying to get them to move the nation away from a foreign policy of neutrality. Roosevelt thought this way because he had seen others fall to Hitler s regime. He wanted the people to stand up and take control over their lives,he wanted them to fight.... It was said that the basic rights of freedom should never be lost or forgotten during times of hardship. Freedom was also described in this speech as, the supremacy of human rights everywhere (Roosevelt
  • 6. Autonomy Within The Early Childhood Education Field This essay will firstly explain the general concept of autonomy and provide a comprehensive definition of autonomy, which including the broad concept and the meaning of autonomy in the early childhood education field. Secondly will critically consider how Montessori and Rousseau explained the concept of autonomy, as well as how they represented the ideas of autonomy theory. Finally, this essay will critically consider how the autonomy concepts associate to writer s own childhood, and then will examine writer s own childhood in relation to the context of diverse childhoods, which will combine with two philosophers theories of autonomy. In Te whДЃriki, the Ministry of Education (1996) states that young children in services, such as kindergarten, playcentres, preschool, home based care and childcare centres, have a widening range of opportunities for independence, choice, and autonomy пј€ Ministry of Education, 1996, p. 51пј‰. Adults should not ignore the importance of autonomy in a young child s grow up process due to the critical impact of autonomy (Zhao, 2014). There are various definitions instead of a coincident understanding in the contexts of multiple countries and cultures. The regular understanding of autonomy refers to the independence and free choices that a people could control when he or she focuses on certain activities without be forced by any factors (Ryan and Deci, 2000). • 8. The Y2k Hysteria By Richard Landes This phrase and the belief that the world was formed in 6 days with a 7th for rest, gave the early Christians a view that the world would last for 6000 years. According to scriptures the world had a beginning, it had a now in which they were living and a promised end. This end was proclaimed in the Olivet discourse (Matthew 24, Luke 21, Mark 13), but with warnings that none on Earth would know when. The Y2K hysteria caused many scholar to wonder how the millennial dates past where thought of by those that lived in that time. This essay is a discussion on whether merging of dates with the idea of six millennia (1000 year) periods was just an intellectual exercise or directly gave rise to apocalyptic thought. Richard Landes papers ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This was part of the problem chronologists had in merging dates systems. Landes diagram showing the various chronological systems, that highlights when they hit the 6th Millennium. Note: the vertical dotted lines, of the changing a date system to avert the dangerous millennium. From this it seems obvious that the church fathers of Augustine and later Boniface must have made the decision to change dating to avoid the Millennium fever. But that is not quite the full picture. It does not consider the intervening centuries of learning, translation and scholarship creating better methods of calculations. Figure 1 chronographical shifts and apocalyptic target dates. (illustration by Richard Landes.) The study of chronology has been a pursuit of many a scholar over the ages. We should note that it was not just early Christians who were interested in this. Rabbi Yossi ben Halafta, a 2nd century scholar, calculated the beginning date of the Hebrew calendar from when Adam Eve were created (Year 1 of Jewish calendar) which (adjusted for modern calendar) was October 7, 3761BC. . The old Testament part of the Bible was a collection of the religious writings from Jewish Torah, giving a chronology from Genesis to well before the Coming of Jesus. Various

Their engines seemed to be working, and since they weren t dead that at least meant for the moment oxygen was breathable. The sliding doors to the flight deck shot open and there stood a suited Liam Payne and dishevelled Niall Horan. The beeping sound grew louder. It reminded Louis of the sounding of an alarm clock and being in the middle state between waking and sleeping. He could hear the alarm sounding, louder and louder but he could do nothing to stop it. What the bloody hell is going on? Niall yelled above the noise. Zayn had now moved to pulling on his own suit, worried that there might be something wrong with the air or with the ship. In that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Louis for a moment thought about dying in space, contrary to popular believe you didn t die instantly if someone you removed your helmet or got a leak in your suit, no. You didn t spontaneously combust like a car in an action film, instead you swelled like a balloon, blood slowly bubbling. You still wouldn t die straight away. It was like drowning, it would take a minute or two. Maybe that was the kind of flower wilting death Zayn had been talking about. In space the two boys drifted weightless. The only think keeping them to their ship was a tether and a damn lot of shear faith in it. Louis and Liam both flanked the ship, taking different areas and moving to inspect the outside of the ship. Louis and Liam both turned on the communication radio within their suits. Anything out there? Louis heard Zayn s voice beside his ear. Even out here he couldn t get away from the sodding guy. I see a shit tone of space and a whole lot of nothing wrong with the ship, Louis quipped as he clung to the guide rails on the outside of the ship, trying to get closer to the engine. If anything was wrong he should be able to see, and then all hell broke loose. It started with Niall s voice, speaking in his ear though not really addressing anyone. What the bloody hell is that? That? What was that?

  • 11. The Great Debate On Doctor Assisted Suicide Essay The Great Debate on Doctor Assisted Suicide Euthanasia, in today s world, is a word with opposing meanings. Originally, it meant a good death (Leming Dickinson, 2016). Since the legalization of euthanasia around the world in the early 1990 s, the meaning has changed. Several pro euthanasia sites would call it a humane and peaceful way to end the dying process, by either stopping the course of treatment or the use of lethal doses of medications (Leming Dickinson, 2016). Con euthanasia activists are most concerned about the slippery slope idea, being euthanasia is only a half way house to legalizing murder (Should Euthanasia or Physician Assisted Suicide Be Legal? Euthanasia ProCon.org, 2016). When discussing a topic so sensitive as death, an invisible line appears between a right way and a wrong way to die. By the end of this paper, the hope is to have an educated discussion regarding some social and political inquiries surrounding euthanasia and doctor assisted suicide. Over the last couple of decades, 4 states in the U.S. have voted in favor of the legalization of physician assisted suicide; California, Vermont, Oregon, and Washington (Should Euthanasia or Physician Assisted Suicide Be Legal? Euthanasia ProCon.org, 2016). The state of Montana has physician assisted suicide, but only through a court hearing (Should Euthanasia or Physician Assisted Suicide Be Legal? Euthanasia ProCon.org, 2016). Given the idea of autonomy, people feel that they have the

In starting weeks, I get the overview of Indian power sector, understood the Indian power grid, functions of NLDC and many technical terms but later the project Short TermLoad Forecasting (STLF) using ANN Techniques was assigned to me. I have to forecast the load for Delhi using ANN Technique. Load forecasting is the technique for prediction of electrical load. It is much need for a generating company to know about the market load demand in a deregulated market for generating near to accurate power. If the generation is not sufficient to fulfill the demand, there would be problem of irregular supply and in case of excess generation the generating company will have to bear the loss. There are various factors which influence the behavior of the consumer load. These factors can be categorized as Time factor, weather, economy and random disturbances. Accurate forecasting can maximize the profit of producers and for consumers, it can maximize their utilities. STLF plays an important role in electric power system operation and planning. An accurate load forecasting not only reduces the generation cost in a power system, but also provides a good principle of effective operation. It is trained using back propagation algorithm and tested. The results obtained from neural network are presented and the results show that the neural network based

Luckily, none of the current occupants of his cabin knew the true sequence of events and so he was able to command a certain degree of respect as Head Counsellor. And by certain, a little. Hey, it was better than nothing. Lee opened bleary eyes to meet his little sister s blue ones. They were staring at him, unblinking, and appeared to be tearing. Internally panicking, he forced himself to sit up. He pulled Kayla into what he hoped was a comforting hug. What up, Kay? Lee asked, sincerely wishing nothing . Will and Michael won t listen to me. They re fighting again. Kayla looked up at him imploringly. He shifted his shoulders uncomfortably. Yeah? Analysis Of Coronation Of The Virgin By Gengtile Da Fabriano Once gracing the lavish floor of Getty Center, the Coronation of the Virgin which was painted by the extraordinary Italian artist Gentile da Fabriano in 1420, attracted many attentions by its sacredness, powerfulness and magic of the Christ. At 36 в…ќ inches and 25 Вј inches size tempera, Christ gently places the ornate gold grown upon Virgin Marys slightly bowed head by the watching of angels from either side as she becomes the Queen of Heaven. Since the first century, Christianity has played an important role in Western Art, which has inspired numerous artists in making their masterpieces. However, artists must follow the religious rules to build up the imagery of the Christ, and educate audience about the religious. Coronation of the Virgin by Fabriano is a perfect presentation of that. Gorgeously. Striking. Grace. The golden painting is taking up by the two most iconic symbols of Christianity: Jesus Christ and Virgin Mary. Christ gently placing a golden grown on the inclined head of the Virgin Mary, who is sitting on the right side of Jesus; her hands crossed over her chest symbolist of humble, reverent and loyalty. This position was purposely set by Fabriano. In Christianity art, position is significant in dividing between good manners and malefactors. For instance, in The Last Judgment by Giotto di Bondone in 1305, heaven was placed on right of Christ, and hell was on the left. This ideology was clearly stated in the bible ...before him shall be gathered all nations:

Critical Theories Of Reader-Response Theory People start to express and exchange their opinions about art or literature works and try to understand the deeper meaning of them with the development of the society. Different critical theories that are introduced during this semester in Critical Inquiry have been built based on various of society events or issues in different periods. After getting in touch with each popular theory, Reader Response Theory, in the personal opinion, has become one of the commonest theories since it only considers the personal experience of the readers and how it connects to the work; the readers would receive different messages and come up with their personal thoughts and comments toward what they read, see or watch. Different from African American Theory or LGBTQ Theory, Reader Response Theory does not have a limitation on the subject position or cultural background because the comments and thoughts are based on the readers personal experience and from their own view points, and this characteristic will always benefit people not only in college but also in their entire life by expanding their horizons and helping them to find and understand their own lens in professional practices. Mr. Taylor, a typical political boss of Smith s time, had extreme power in his state and was able to tilt the public opinion of Senator Smith. The Pros And Cons Of Music Censorship Censoring music will limit the creativity and viewpoint of other people; which is causing our freedom of speech becoming eradicated and adds on to the shortcoming of understanding other people s perspectives. People have different stances on life, and want to canvass the things that they lived through. This is where foul language and censorshipis most debated. Cons of Music Censorship Music censorship is the editing and cutting of specific words or phrases for a purpose in order to bound distinct subject matter from young minds and to prevent more wrongdoings in the inferior generations. The problem with censorship isn t just the reigns on the free mind, but on what the mind can bestow as a gift to others. Music serves more than just as a means of entertainment. Music conveys messages to the world, and professes problems that are puzzling to deliberate with parents. The bad thing about censoring music is the fact that our right to expression is denounced by other people uncomfortable with certain musical topics (Lombardo, 2017). Censorship is meant to mask certain words and phrases from younger audiences as to not warp young minds into thinking that doing drugs, drinking and suicide are acceptable (Lombardo, 2017). Origin of music The start of music itself is difficult to pinpoint, but we began to notice the importance of music during the slave times and how much it helped them during the laborious times. Since the slave times, singing has always been important in the African American culture. In the late 1700s they sang about their sorrows and how much they wanted to go home. Singing was also used as a means of communication, slaves sang to find other that were kin to them and to express feelings and emotions (berry, 2017). Slave Times. Wade in the Water was a song sung by former slave Harriet Tubman. Wade in the Water served as a warning for other slaves to go through the water to mask their scent from the slave catching dogs (berry, 2017). In order for slaves to understand she had to sing a song since most were uneducated, but they could understand through music. Music with a purpose. Certainly, he has a belief about the matter being said and was ready to give his friends the answer, but after reading the dialogue of the Republic, one would conclude that Plato wants his readers and his questioners to be active participants in the dialogue. This can be seen when Socrates questions his friends, quot; Can you think of any tactics to make them believe this story. quot; This is the style of Socrates dialectic. Before one can give an opinion of a subject, that is how it should be, one has to define the subject. Socrates says, quot;I ve got a pretty good idea of what you re getting at, I said, it would help them care even more for the community and for one another. But the future of all this will be decided by popular consensus, not by us. quot; So we can see right here that Socrates has a good idea of what a good community is, but he wants his friends to
  • 37. Divine Kingship Essay In Ancient Egypt around 1570 1070 BCE people believed that their kings were a reincarnated version of a God, this is where Divine Kingship derived from. Kings were there to assure the people of peace and justice, they also made sure their people were safe and tried to protect the country from danger. The people correlated the current living king to Horus, he was the god of the sun and the sky which is something the people immensely valued. Throughout the Old Kingdom, Middle Kingdom and the New Kingdom they viewed divine kingship differently as other parts of Asia. The Egyptian people referred the king or pharaoh, a term which came later, as the Highest Priest of Every Temple because they believed they were living gods on earth. The pharaoh was related to Horus, the god of the sky and kingship, while he lived and when he passed he became Osiris the god of the dead, their beliefs originated from Egyptian mythology. The pharaoh was highly respected not only because he owned all the land in Egypt but they thought the pharaoh possessed the ability to communicate to the other gods. This gave the people the allusion if they were obedient the gods would bless them with an abundance of food. Ramesses the II was referred to as one of the most powerful pharaoh of the Egyptian Empire. During his reign he concentrated on building temples and monuments while expanding the cities. Ramesses II held 14 sed festivals which are celebrated for the rule of the pharaoh. He was one of the longest living pharaoh dying at the age of 90, this caused the people to think he possessed more godly power since the average human did not make it to that age. In Mesopotamia, they viewed divine kingship differently, their kings were not seen as a reincarnation of god like in Egypt but more as a representative of god. In the legend of King Sargon of Akkad it explains the ritual of the god announcing who his son is so he can take the throne, it explains how the king is not an actual god but he is related to god. The king was associated with the god of the moon and sun, sometimes they would be identified with the god of their town since they had a god for every aspect of life. Divine kingship was a very significant part of the people s life

Bertrand Russell s essay addresses many issues concerning philosophy. In the writing, he states philosophy s nature, value, and criticisms. It states that even though philosophy doesn t give us a certainty of true answers, it suggests many possibilities which enlarge our thoughts and free them from tyranny of custom. He also supports the idea that philosophy is beneficial because it enriches intellectual imagination . The essay brings up the points of the practical man, and why they are at a loss of intellectual imagination because they don t explore the unknown by viewing life as simple. As evidence, he uses an example of mass disease and poverty of a society. The theory is that in those conditions, there would still be much to be improved to produce a valuable society. Even if the society has the proper food supplies, they need the goods of the mind (knowledge) to build a well governed society. He believes practical men undermine that aspect, thereby explaining their lack of intellectual imagination. The next argument is that philosophy saves us from convictions, prejudices, and cultural beliefs. The affect that that has on a person is to open up a fresh prospective with very little bias. He believed for this to be beneficial to people socially, by developing empathy which helps you understand others points of view. That theory goes hand in hand and gives a fine segway to his fourth and final argument of the freedom and equity learned from philosophical contemplation reflecting in your personality (action and emotion). However, in Tolkien s works The Silmarillion, The Hobbit, and The Lord of the Rings, there is a recognizable pattern that is set. More specifically this pattern regarding fate is established cosmologically through his story of creation (the Ainulindale ), and the precedent is set for how individual choice affects the events that follow. This pattern will be used to establish how Tolkien views the effect of determination on determinism throughout his other works. This calls into question the cosmology in The Silmarillion, because Feanor essentially went against the will of the gods on Middle Earth at the time, and forsook his happy life for greed over a physical object. He was allowed to make this choice however, and not even the gods stepped in the way to change his decision.6 Ultimately it was irrelevant, however, due to the oath he invoked he was fated never to obtain the Silmarils, in fact they were eventually lost to everyone and caused more death and chaos than the beauty they were intended to be.7 One such event that was spurred on by the chase for the Silmarils was the murder of Thingol by the dwarves. This led to animosity that was prevalent in The Hobbit, which was thousands of years later.8 The acquisition of the Ring by Bilbo is another matter of ambiguity when it comes to fate and free will, however it was stated explicitly that the Ring had agency and it s primary goal was to return to it s master.9 The fact that the Ring exerted a type of free will in it s choices of bearers is an extraordinary feat, but ultimately it serves the will of Sauron, so even

The characters are more than just characters and the plot fits more a mode of telling than an actual plot. Considering Bruner s features of narrative that he describes in The Narrative Construction of Reality , through an illustration of canonicity and breach, the protagonist of The Fight is the The Rumble in the Jungle itself, while the antagonist of the story is the breach of the fight. Canonicity and breach, as explained by Bruner, is the breach of a canonical script. This breach breaks the norms or standards of what is expected. A tale must break the normal state to be worth telling and hold value in daily living. A breach must differ from the norm, but the method of defying this norm is up to the teller. The canonicity of the story is the fight itself. Canonicity would be the desired outcome, without any changes or obstructions. The fight in its simplest form was what Don King staged. He wanted to see the better fighter, former heavyweight versus current heavyweight. This is the protagonist of the story. People wanted to know who was the better fighter, and also wanted to see a good fight. King wanted to promote professional boxing. At its simplest form, this is what the viewer or reader desires, so The Rumble in the Jungle is the canon and protagonist of the story. The breech in the story is the obstructions put on the fight. These feelings of discontent and the growing fear of an uprising would lead the British to proceed to Lexington and Concord and destroy colonial military supplies.
