The Complex Nature Of Equiano s Identity Crisis
Daniel Miret

Option Three
The complex nature of Equiano s identity crisis
Equiano presents himself as an African, who is embattled with a myriad of issues enroute to a foreign
land. He starts off as a normal African boy that takes pride in the family unit. His life changes as he is
exposed to a life of slavery that makes him wonder just how far he would go to regain his freedom.
Equaino is celebrated due to his anti slave trade achievements, but rather criticized for a lack of
authenticity in his plight to free the world of slavery. He begins his narrative with a brief insight into
the person he was before being captured. We discover a identity that is in the norm for African society.
He presents himself as an African from Essaka, which is in Eboe, and what is currently referred to as
Nigeria. Equiano was born in 1745 and was a member of the royal family. Moreover, he presents
himself as a common African boy but his family and origins state otherwise. Equiano is engaged in a
family that from the onset practiced its form of slavery through ownership of servants. His father gives
the audience a sense of hypocrisy on Equiano s part when he rebukes slave trade. The identity of the
character Equiano is immediately casted into doubt (Olaudah, 111). In retrospect, the African boy
understood the dangers of abduction and was protected and aware of the incessant threat of capture.
The fact remains that Equiano had his roots entrenched in a

High Intensity Interval Training ( Hiit )
INTRODUCTION: High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) is known as one method to treat
Cardiovascular Diseases (CD), such as Coronary Arterial Disease (CAD) and Heart Failure (HF), due
to its potential to improve cardio respiratory fitness (1, 15). This exercise format is characterized as
aerobic exercise performed in a high intensity usually controlled by either maximum oxygen uptake or
maximum heart rate with active and low intensity. Performing exercise in high intensities mixed with
active rest allows patients to tolerate a higher effort before they become tired. Heart failure patients
present a diminished exercise capacity, due to a smaller Ejection Fraction (EF), which tells us how
well the heart pumps blood to body. To these patients, High Intensity Interval Training has been
reported for improving Systolic Function due to the increased effort in which the heart is working
(16). The necessity to provide nutrients through circulation during exercise leads to an increased
contractility and consequently LV Remodeling (15). Coronary Arterial Disease Patients have a
decreased blood flow to the myocardial tissue due to an obstruction inside the coronary arteries. HIIT
increases the arteriovenous O2 difference, which means there is an elevated consumption of oxygen
by the tissues as result of a higher stroke volume. All those benefits have been shown in the literature,
but most of the studies present data with short term interventions. A few studies discuss the benefits

Why The Fortunes Of Kings Weston House Changed Between 1700 And The Present Day
Kings Weston House was built on the side of a ridge probably with idyllic pastoral views (as was the
fashion in the 1700 s). Kings Weston House was probably built on this site because of those views, it
was surrounded by countryside with a few grazing cattle s of sheep and most likely farmland visible,
but the main view from the house was the River Severn and the rolling green hills of Wales visible on
the other side. These views made it the perfect country house for a wealthy family. Today the view
from the house is very different, you can see the built up council estates of Sea Mills and Lawrence
Weston. Where in the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He wanted to build it on the same site as the Tudor mansion because it was in the ideal place for
everything he needed. It was near the village of Shirehampton where he could hire people as servants
to help run the house, and as they came from the village he did not have to pay to house them. It was
only five miles from the city of Bristol so he could easily get there to sort out business, or for him and
his family to enjoy what the city had to offer them. It was also very close to Sea Mills, where he
wanted to build up the roman harbour because Bristol docks were beginning to lose trade to Docks in
Liverpool. This is because Liverpool dock was a lot easier for ships to get to, unlike Bristol where
they had to travel up the bendy and very tidal River Avon. So by building a floating harbour in Sea
Mills ships would not have to travel all the way up the Avon. But Sea Mills harbour soon failed
because it did not have sufficient links with Bristol. Also if you wanted to be elected in Parliament you
had to have a certain amount of land and as Kings Weston has 60 acres of land it was the ideal place to
build the new house.
The current house was designed by John Vanbrugh. He was born in Londonin 1664 and came to
Bristol in 1710 at the age of 46. John Vanbrugh was first a foot soldier, then a play righter in 1696,

Bullying Rhymes
Sticks and stones may break my bones but words will never hurt me . This is one of the English
language children s rhymes. It encourages children to ignore verbal insults, persuading them to stay
calm and to not retaliate. The literal translation of this seems to be: You can say what you want, you
can insult me verbally as much as you want. Words does not matter to me. I will go over it and I will
forget. I will stay calm to show how strong I am . This is not as simple as it appears to be.
These few simple words became so significant that I decided to use them as an introduction to the
problem that this essay will be talking about, namely bullying. According to the definition, bullying is
the use of force, threat, or coercion to abuse, intimidate, or aggressively dominate others. There are
four different types of bullying including physical, verbal, emotional and cyber bullying. This essay
will mainly focus on the verbal bullying that, despite the implication of the rhyme mentioned at the
beginning of the introduction, causes a significant impact on individuals sanity and plays the huge role
in shaping individuals personalities. Additionally, there is a big connection between children who are
bullied and their suicidal thoughts. This is one of the most significant problems that exists among
teenagers in American schools. In order to have a better understanding of the poem it is worthed to

Development of Marketing Strategy
Development of Marketing Strategy
Market: A market is any one of a variety of different systems, institutions, procedures, social relations
and infrastructures whereby businesses sell their goods, services and labor to people in exchange for
money. Goods and services are sold using a legal tender such as fiat money. This activity forms part of
the economy. It is an arrangement that allows buyers and sellers to exchange items. Competition is
essential in markets, and separates market from trade. Two persons may trade, but it takes at least
three persons to have a market, so that there is competition on at least one of its two sides. Markets
vary in size, range, geographic scale, location, types and variety of human communities, as well ...

They match the distribution to the customers and include places such as Curry s, PC World, Wal Mart,
Target, and many others. Physical distribution firms are places such as warehouses that store and
transport the company s product from its origin to its destination. Marketing services agencies are
companies that offer services such as conducting marketing research, advertising, and consulting.
Financial intermediaries are institutions such as banks, credit companies and insurance companies.
Another aspect of microenvironment is the customers. There are different types of customer markets
including consumer markets, business markets, government markets, international markets, and
reseller markets. The consumer market is made up of individuals who buy goods and services for their
own personal use or use in their household. Business markets include those that buy goods and
services for use in producing their own products to sell. This is different from the reseller market
which includes businesses that purchase goods to resell as is for a profit. These are the same
companies mentioned as market intermediaries. The government market consists of government
agencies that buy goods to produce public services or transfer goods to others who need them.
International markets include buyers in other countries and includes customers from the previous
categories.
Competitors are also a factor in the microenvironment and include companies

The Importance Of The Viet Cong
Having witnessed the situation months before the evacuation of Saigon, It s hard to believe that
everything went pear shaped so quickly. But, the evidence is clear, the Viet Cong were in fact the
superior force in this war, and I suppose we should all be thankful that our forces were withdrawn
early.
However, I am not here to praise the Communist party of Vietnam. It is my firm belief that the
Americans should have won this war, and that Vietnam should never have been divided in the first
place, as this gave them the power to reclaim their land, piece by piece.
The people of Vietnam have become overconfident, and believe that they are entitled to claim their
own land and make their own decisions when clearly, anyone who supports communism

Social Class and Power in the Novel “Great Expectations”
Social class played a major role in the society depicted in Charles Dickens s novel Great Expectations
. Many characters were treated differently because of their social class in the story. Seeing the contrast
between how the poor and the rich were treated will give a clearer understanding of how much social
class mattered. During the nineteenth century, British society was dominated and ruled by a tightly
woven system of class distinctions. Social relations and acceptance were based upon position. Charles
Dickens utilizes Great Expectations as a commentary on the system of class and each person s place
within it. In the character of Pip, Dickens demonstrates the working class obsession to overthrow their
limitations and re invent ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Realizing this will play a part in proving that social class did matter in most but not all cases. For
example, the lowest class people were Joe, Biddy, Magwitch, and Orlick. Joe and Biddy were very
poor but had very good hearts. Joe was always there for Pip and Biddy had moved in to help Mrs. Joe.
Magwitch was a dirty convict of the lowest class, but he turned out to be a very caring and generous
man. Orlick was low class and his character also turned out to be very low because he was a murderer.
The fact that there are both good and cold hearted people in the lower class shows that class has no
connection with how people really are. Another example is the richer class. This includes Ms.
Havisham, Estella, Herbert, Jaggers, and Wemmick. Ms. Havisham and Estella were both very
wealthy but they had no heart and their intentions were to bring hell to all men. While Herbert was the
opposite, he was a true friend to Pip and always stayed by his side. Jaggers and Wemmick also in the
higher class had supported Pip through his gentleman years. Being aware that not all of the high class
were necessarily good people states the fact that class does not determine character. Even though class
mattered in most things, this is an example it did not take part in.
The theme of social class is central to the novel s plot and to the ultimate moral theme of the book. Pip
s realization that wealth and class are less important than affection, loyalty, and inner worth. Pip

Tutoring Children In High School
Over the course of second semester junior year, I was given the opportunity of tutoring children at a
school a few blocks from my high school. As my classmates and I walked the 3 blocks down the street
towards the old brick school, my apprehension grew. My only experience with small children at the
time was babysitting family friends children while they were at dinner parties. What if the kids were
boisterous and uncontrollable? Would I be able to reach the children or would I fail and not teach them
anything? Luckily, my anxiety disappeared as soon as I walked into the second grade classroom and
was greeted by twenty excited, smiling seven year olds. I was grouped with three amazing kids:

How Did Anne Moody Contribute To The Civil Rights Movement
The abolishment of slavery in 1865 was only the beginning of a long, strenuous fight for African
American citizens in the United States. The abolition may have freed the slaves physically but did not
free them of the social injustices they had yet to endure. The African American civil rights movement
took place in 1954 through 1968. (history.com) The civil rights movement is described as the struggle
for social justice, a battle fought for blacks to be seen as equals under the laws of the United states.
Many people were involved in progressing the movement including but not limited to Rosa Parks,
Martin Luther King Jr, Malcom X and Anne Moody. Throughout her lifetime Anne Moody has had a
major impact on the African American Civil rights movement. Despite her personal struggles, Moody
used her life to promote the enlightenment and progression of African American citizens. Moody s
perseverance, hatred, and alienation contributed to her educational and creative success as well as her
contributions to the Civil Rights Movement in the novel, Coming of age in Mississippi.
Essie Mae Moody also known as Anne Moody was born September 15, 1940 in Wilkerson County
Mississippi to Fred Moody and Elnire Davis. (briticanna.com) She was the eldest of nine. After her

Masks And Symbolism In Lord Of The Flies By William Golding
In Lord of the Flies, William Golding uses symbolism to show that leaders have the power to put
masks on their followers in order to manipulate their minds and way of thinking. The book is about a
group of English schoolboys, which are stranded on an island. As time passes, the boys change their
personalities. But do they really change? Or do their perfected masks slowly come off and become
replaced by the mask of savageness, put on by their prefect?
People hide their true identities behind masks they create and perfect. Some of them are stronger than
others and therefore they create stronger masks. Even though Ralph gets elected as a leader, Jack
seems to be stronger. Though, not a stronger personality, but rather by intimidating the smaller kids
and gaining power from it. He then builds his very own mask: Jack planned his new face. He made
one cheek and one eye socket white, then he rubbed red over the other half of his face and slashed a
black bar of charcoal across from right ear to left jaw [...] He looked in astonishment, no longer at
himself but at an awesome stranger (63). By putting the different colors on his face, Jack creates a new

Google, The Co Founder Of Google
Report: Google
1. Purpose
The IT entrepreneur I ve decided to research on is Larry Page, the co founder of Google. This report
covers the purpose of Google as a search engine, the technologies that it uses for its searches, how it
managed to beat its predecessors and the hardware that it uses, both old and new ones. The reason why
I chose Google is because I ve been using it for a number of years now and I thoroughly enjoy the
experience of surfing the web with it. 2. Key Information
1.1 Introduction
The idea of Google developed when its founders wanted to organize an infinite amount of information
on the web. It was first called Backrub , and later on adopted the name Googol, after a mathematical
terminology. The founders, Larry Page and Sergey Brin worked on their idea for 3 years before
deciding to incorporate it. It officially became a company in the year 1998. Google started off as a
search engine, and it maintains its core business until now. The main benefits of having a search
engine include quick results for intended searches, as search engines extract information from the web
and display in an organized manner.
Google quickly became the most popular search engine due to several reasons. Firstly, this is due to
speed of delivering search results. When it first launched, Google used several different computers to

were being furnished to a child who had been abandoned by one of the parents. Child support would

Peter Singer Argument
According to the United Nations, a child dies of hunger every ten seconds. Likewise, millions of
people worldwide live in poverty and do not know when they will eat again. While the typical
American throws away leftover food, children are dying across the world from starvation. To put this
into perspective: By the time you have started reading, a child has died of hunger. Bioethicist and
utilitarian philosopher, Peter Singer, in his argumentative essay, The Singer Solution to World Poverty,
asserts that it is the individual s responsibility to save children in poverty. Singer utilizes many
rhetorical strategies including appealing to pathos, repetition, and comparison of statistics to defend
his argument: Whatever money you re spending on luxuries, not necessities, should be given away. He
adopts an analytical and indignant tone in order to convince Americans to donate money to save the
lives of millions of children. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Peter Singer provides the specific number, $200, to demonstrate how reasonable it is to save a child in
poverty. Additionally, he repeats, to save a child s life, which demonstrates exactly what a $200
donation could do for a helpless child. As an example, Singer references a credible philosopher, Peter
Unger, and acknowledges that, by his calculation, $200 in donations would help a sickly 2 year old
transform into a healthy 6 year old. Next, he establishes that, if you were to give up dining out just for
one month, you would easily save that amount. Singer emphasises this to show the reader how simple
it is to save $200, and, more importantly, save a child s life. By repeating this number multiple times,
following with, to save a child s life, throughout his essay, Singer implies a reasonable yet urgent tone
in order to convince the reader that if they donate, they will save a

Ice Hockey Vs. Roller Hockey Essay
Despite the fact that ice hockey and roller hockey both have the word hockey in common, there are
extreme differences between the two sports. There are the obvious differences like one being played
on ice and the other on a plastic surface, but many of the differences are only noticed by people that
have played both sports.
As everyone knows, ice hockey is played on ice, which makes it an extremely high paced game.
Unlike ice hockey, Roller hockey is played on a plastic floor that consists of many six inch by six inch
tiles. The plastic floor makes roller hockey a much slower paced game than ice hockey. The reason
that roller hockey is so much slower than ice hockey is because there is more friction. The friction is
produced in the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
An ice hockey game consists of five players and a goalie per team on the ice. Roller hockey however,
only has four players and a goalie. In ice hockey there are blue lines, which are approximately one
third of the way up the rink from each end. The blue lines are used to create zones on the ice surface.
If an offensive player enters the other team s defensive zone before the puck, the play is whistled dead
and it is called off sides. On the other hand in roller hockey, there are no such blue lines. Not having
blue lines makes the game much more wide open, which allows players to hang at the other team s
net, unlike ice hockey.
Another rule of ice hockey is icing, this is when a player shoots the puck from one end of the ice to the
other end and no one touches it. In roller hockey there is no rule for icing; instead players are allowed
to dump the puck from one end of the floor to the other. Both sports do enforce the same penalties
though. For example, both ice and roller hockey referees will call penalties for tripping, slashing,
roughing, etc.
Hockey does not only consist of players shooting the puck up and down the ice. There is more to
hockey than that. The most important aspect of the game is the player s mentality. Ice hockey and
roller hockey player s mentalities differ slightly. In ice hockey, players are told to stay in their
position. For example, a right winger is supposed to stay along the

Stereotypes In The Office
Do you think that someone will be good at a sport because of their race? Michael Scott from the T.V.
show The Office thinks so. The Office is a sitcom which depicts the typical office environment with
Michal Scott being the boss who is very insensitive and says things most people would see as very
rude, but he thinks of as normal. In the office Stanley is the only African American and Oscar is the
only Latino, these two are typically quiet and are insulted by Michael. Other notable individuals in the
office include Kevin who is an out of shape middle aged white man and Dwight who is a very socially
awkward middle aged white man. In season 1 episode 5 titled basketball Michael organizes a
basketball game between the office and warehouse staff. Throughout the shows Michael stereotypes
employees of various races and what sports they should be good at . In the process of picking the
basketball team it was most notably displayed with many statements being made by Michael as to who
would be at various sports based on their ethnicity. He made statements inferring that Stanley would
be a starter because he is black. Another statement that he made was to Oscar Martinez a Latino

The Misconceptions Of Authoritarianism
Authoritarianism is a regime type and, furthermore, a political vision that seeks to create compliance
in authority and establish order and peace by striving for absolute legitimacy. In an authoritarian
regime, power relations are vertically organized, where there is little to no accountability for those in
power and where civil and political rights of citizens, if established, are restrictive and violated. Two
common misconceptions of authoritarianism are that they are durable and they have always have a
paternal figure as leader. To the first point: though an authoritarian regime would be relatively simple
to establish, the difficult task of legitimizing and consolidating absolute authority makes authoritarian
rule an incredibly arduous endeavour. Authoritarian regimes can easily be snubbed out as quickly as
they began to burn, pointing to how the legitimacy of authority is by far the most essential tool to the
authoritarian. But who is the authoritarian? Many see authoritarian regimes as patrimonial, meaning
that though there still might be complex institutions of bureaucracy, security, and even political
parties, all authority comes from the top and the top alone. However, there can also be authoritarian
regimes run by an institution, whether through a military junta or hegemonic political party.
Authoritarianism can easily derive from civil society instead of through the military, yet the coercive
powers of military are essential for consolidating power. The rise and

Pathophysiology And Introduction Of The Eye
Pathophysiology/ Introduction
Have you ever looked across a clear sparkling ocean front? Took time to gaze at beautiful flowers

These are a few things our eyes allow us do. The eye is a very important part of our anatomy. It lets us
to do one of our most important five senses and that is to see. Just like any other part of our body
things can go wrong. The particular impairment I would like to address is when our eyes get infected

There are several different infections the eye can get these include conjunctivitis, blepharitis,
hordeolum, chalazion, and keratitis. Conjunctivitis is inflammation of the conjunctiva of the eye
(Williams, Linda. S UNDERSTANDING MEDICAL SURGICAL 5TH ed, 2015). Viral conjunctivitis
is usually received by touching other contaminated eye secretion then rubbing the uncontained eye.
The virus is able to survive on surfaces for 14 days or more and can last 2 weeks to a month. Bacterial
conjunctivitis is also known as pinkeye can be caused by the staphylococcal bacteria and is highly
contagious. Many times the infected person will start with the common cold and then it will manifest
into pinkeye. Children are most commonly known to spread and receive this infection. Normally the
infected person will experience redness of the conjunctiva, swelling, and drainage. Blepharitis is the
inflammation of the eye lids. It is classified as either seborrheic and ulcerative. Both are caused from
the bacterium staphylococcus. Seborrheic is produced at the eyelashes and produces signs of flaking

The Separation Of Andrew Jackson s New Frontier
The new frontier, the West, was a promising future for many Americans. They moved west in hopes of
financial gains. The separation from the East let the frontier develop their own society that focused on
equality. One man that went from war hero to people s president under the care of the west was
Andrew Jackson. Many people consider Jackson to be a very important president that greatly affected
the nation s future. Jackson gained a devoted following with his common man ideology and Western
democratic principles that stemmed from his upbringing to win two elections in 1828 and 1832.
Andrew Jackson did not create Democracy but he popularized it throughout the country because he

A Discourse Community Of The World Acts And Communicates...
Discourse communities are everywhere. Everywhere we and go and almost everything we do relates

community in some way. Every discourse has it s own distinct qualities and almost all have a different

utilized terms in weightlifting. I always heard words like lat, core, one rep max, spot, lower, etc. It was
comparable to learning a new language for me. But with time and learning, I came to understand what
was being said or asked in the gym environment. Seeing my father go everyday and him being an

In weightlifting, there are certain ways to communicate and talk about lifting or what is being done.
Every exercise has a name that is commonly known among the discourse community, such as
dumbbell side raises, decline bench press, front lat pulldown, and those are just a few examples. There
are hundreds of terms for naming exercises. The most commonly used terms in weightlifting are rep

The Innocence of Lamb in Songs of Innocence by William Blake
Songs of Innocence by William Blake collocates the naïve lives of children and loss of innocence of
adults, with moral Christian values and how religion has the capacity to promote cruelty and
prejudice. Blake was born in 1757, up to and after the French Revolution he wrote many works
criticizing enlightened rationalism and instead focused on intellectual ideas that avoided
institutionalization and propelled ethical and moral order. Blake s collection of poem exposes and
explores the values and limitations of secular and religious institutions. The Lamb focuses on children
s naivetés and innocence, but also curiosity in regards to faith, and ideas of nature and God. Though
naiveté and meekness are present throughout The Lamb , Blake focuses on an underlying Christian
theme of combining the pastoral with the spiritual. For example, the speaker, a boy, talks to a lamb, his
beastly counterpart. The boy, speaking to the lamb asks. Little lamb, who made thee? (Blake 1). The
opening query asked by the boy represents rhetoric of both the natural and spiritual world. Bryan
Aubrey, in his critical essay of the lamb states, everything in creation is embraced by the tenderness of
the divine...[there] is no separation between human self, the natural world, and the divine kingdom
(Aubrey 1). Therefore, just as Blake suggests the lamb does not just represent the innocent but is the
principal idea of the poem. The lamb represents unity among nature and religious creation.

Pedagogy Vs Andragogy Paper
Pedagogy is defined as the art and science of educating children (Bethel University, 2013). Andragogy

similarities of both Pedagogy and Andragogy. Both are ways of teaching and educating people. A
difference between the two is Pedagogy is a teacher focused education system where the teacher tells
the student what, how and when materials will be learned, whereas Andragogy is a learner based
system where the student has more control over when and how materials are learned(Bethel

Research Paper On Epilepsy
Epilepsy is a neurological condition marked by sudden recurrent episodes of sensory disturbance, loss
of consciousness, or convulsions, associated with abnormal electrical activity in the brain. It is the
tendency to have seizures that start in the brain. The brain is made up of millions of nerve cells that
use electrical signals to control the body s functions, senses and thoughts. If the signals are disrupted,
the person may have an epileptic seizure (sometimes called a fit or attack ). The brain is the center that
controls and regulates all voluntary and involuntary responses in the body. It consists of nerve cells
that normally communicate with each other through electrical activity. A seizure occurs when part(s)
of the brain receives a burst of abnormal electrical signals that temporarily interrupts normal electrical
brain function. Epilepsy varies greatly and affects everyone differently. Anyone can develop epilepsy,
at any time of life. It happens in people of all ages, races and social classes. ... Show more content on

Epilepsy has been recognized throughout history. It can be traced back to references made in literature
written hundreds and hundreds of years ago. The earliest known descriptions of epilepsy are in the
writings of Hippocrates (ca. 460 ca. 377 BC), most notably in his essay titled On the Sacred Disease,
so named because in ancient Greece, the inexplicable cause of seizures had led to the common belief
that the person with epilepsy was periodically possessed by spirits (in more recent times, demons).
Hippocrates denounced such interpretations as charlatanism and argued that this was a human disease
with physical causes. Today, epilepsy and seizures are classified into many different forms, some
suggests as to the origins and the causes of the disease have been provided, and a wide range of

Your levels of serotonin can affect your lifestyle in the long run if they get too low. These long term
effects can increase your chances of getting heart disease, dementia, and Alzheimer s. Serotonin
deficiencies can be grouped into three categories: depression, anxiety, and insomnia. These can be
treated through medications, but the problem with these is that they don t work on everyone who tries
them. You can increase your levels of serotonin in natural ways, including eating foods that are high in
serotonin like walnuts, bananas, and pineapple to mention a few. Also, eating foods high in
tryptophan, an amino acid found in high protein foods, can help increase these levels. You can also
take serotonin supplements, such as herbs, vitamins, minerals, and many more. Along with tryptophan,
another amino acid used to boost levels are 5 HTP. This amino acid can be converted into serotonin

Everyone is welcome here whatever your story, your questions, whatever your ethnic background,
whatever your doubts or struggles. Come as you are, because that s where God meets us . There are
currently about 200 members that attend Holy Apostles. While the congregation is predominantly
white, there is a wide range of ages from young children to older adults. I attended the Sunday

A Comparison Of The Hobbit And The Story Of Sigurd
As the English poet Robert Graves said One gets to the heart of the matter by a series of experiences
in the same pattern, but in different colors. This quote is exemplified in the stories of The Hobbit and
The Story of Sigurd when they have action and use the same hero s journey pattern to create a great
story. Both authors of the stories use strong and resilient characters in their stories to take down the
monsters. In this case, there are two heroes taking down a greedy dragon. Based on the stories and
characters, authors are also able to show their own opinions in the stories. Concluding that, both the

This asking of questions shows that the dragons can use that information to manipulate the character
into thinking about something in a different way. However, in both stories, the character doesn t give in
to the persuasiveness, but Bilbo from The Hobbit does give Smaug just the slightest of information of
where he came from and Smaug used it to cause destruction. From finding all the similarities in the
two stories there is enough information to conclude that Tolkien used The Story of Sigurd to gain
ideas to create The Hobbit, however both stories are also very different. Of course in every adventure
story, you need a protagonist, and in The Hobbit and The Story of Sigurd both show great examples of
heroic protagonists. Plus, both of the heroes kill the huge dragon similarly. A main thing that the two
heroes have in common is that they use a special weapon to kill the enemy. In The Hobbit, Bard uses a
rare arrow called a black arrow ; Arrow! said the bowman. Black arrow! I have saved you to the last.
You have never failed me and always I have recovered you. I had you from my father and he from of
old. (Tolkien 251). Sigurd also uses a special sword to kill the dragon Fafnir; Then Sigurd went to his
mother, and asked for the broken pieces of his father s blade, and gave them to Regin. And he
hammered and wrought them into a new sword, so sharp that fire seemed to burn along its edges.

Multiculturalism
The issue of immigrants conforming to Australian values has divided many. Furthermore, the issue has
been debated by two conflicting perspectives; one side representing multiculturalism and the other
representing conservative nationalism. This essay will argue that the conservative nationalist position
that immigrants must conform to Australian values is problematic as it seeks to exclude minority
groups and thus forces these groups to conform. Prior to this, the statement will be argued by offering
explanations on what Australian values are and the notion of citizenship and citizenship testing,
assimilation, and what is meant by Team Australia as it relates respectively. This essay will also
analyse briefly the arguments of multiculturalism.
Furthermore, former Prime Minister Tony Abbott famously used the metaphor Team Australia in 2014
responding to anti terror initiatives and to an extent began a string of xenophobic behaviour. In
addition, the rise of Pauline Hanson s One Nation party has brought the issue of immigration and
culture into public debate, such as Ms Hanson s burqa stunt in the Senate which to some would be a
disregard to culture and traditions, while others may see this as a threat to security and an Australian
way of life due to the covering of the burqa and henceforth some advocating for a ban on religious

In 2011, Herald Haas gave a Ted talk on light fidelity (Li Fi) and demonstrated a functional Li Fi
system and spoke of the future of telecommunications (Haas, Harald). His lecture sparked a wave of
research on bidirectional Li Fi that has given renewed hope for the internet of things (IoT). Kevin
Ashton, an MIT graduate, first introduced the IoT when he gave a presentation on the goal in 1999
(Davenport, Thomas). Herald Haas, who is now owns a Li Fi company called pureLiFi, asserts that
every luminaire in a trafficked area will serve as an access point (AP) for user devices (UD)(Haas,
Harald). Since 2011, we have done a research on how to best implement Li Fi, but there is still much
research to be done. With the tight congestion in the RF spectrum, we are forced to look for other
wireless solutions. There are a few solutions, such as WiGig, but Li Fi has emerged as the fastest
means of bidirectionally wirelessly transmitting information. There are many advantages and many
drawbacks, but the more research we conduct, the closer we get to making Li Fi a widespread
technology.
The implementation of light fidelity (Li Fi) is the next step towards a world characterized by the
Internet of Things (IoT) because it will enable faster communication, release pressure off of the RF
spectrum, and increase network security. Li Fi, like WiFi,

Liberal Bias
Does the Media Have a Liberal Bias?
Fred Barnes and Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has different views on liberal prejudice. First, Barnes agrees to
the media liberal unfairness, and he claims that the media refuse to give conservatives a job.
Furthermore, positive news reports have data to prove that the liberal media is unfair. Next, Kennedy
admits that bias do exist in the media; however, he is certain that the media has a conservative bias
instead of a liberal bias. Kennedy also claims that United States citizens believe in news that is untrue.
The media tends to implant incorrect information through the radio, newspaper, and many others from
the conservative viewpoint (Finsterbusch 2014).
According to Alterman (2003: 128), a liberal bias in

Unspoken Words
There are times when we all have to do something that hurts others or ourselves, and for people, those
times will be the hardest part of their life. There is the very real fear of the thought that we will be hurt
by our words or actions, or even hurting others with them; an example of that fear can be seen in the
poem Unspoken Words [by Paul Callus] where there is a sense of regret after reading because we have
all felt this incomprehensible emotion that we know that those words should be spoken, but at the
same time being to frightened to say anything, and just sit there not saying anything, wishing we had
the courage or that something would just come along and say those words.
Paul Callus poem can give the reader several feelings; the

Mexico s Independence From Spain Becoming A Young...
On 1821 Mexico won its independence from Spain becoming a young independent country. Mexico
was faced with many challenges after the wars for independence. The economy had been ravaged.
Many had died. The social dislocation caused by the wars and all its residual wounds had still to be
healed. And in this chaotic environment the Mexican tried to forge a nation out of growing economic,
social, and political, instability. An independent Mexican congress was also formed made up of
conservative criollos who debate the future course of Mexico. Mexico was organized as a federal
republic composed of 19 states and 4 territories. After its independence, Mexico had a vast territory
and not enough citizens to occupy the land. Mexican government afraid to losing the un occupy land,
encourage immigration from the united states to become Mexican citizen and reside on the Mexican
territory called Texas. True the years, the Anglo immigrant population in taxes grow so fast that when
the Mexican government try to obtain control over it was too late. According to Acuna, By 1844 war
with Mexico over Texas and the Southwest was only a matter of time. James K. Polk, who strongly
advocated the annexation of Texas and expansionism in general, won the presidency by only a small
margin, but his election was interpreted as a mandate for national expansion Europeans are guilty of
imperialism because in the 1830s and 1840s they took advantage of the young, independent, and

Ancient Egypt Sports And Games
Abstract:
The ancient Egyptians expected that life after death would follow the general pattern of life on the
earth so they kept in their tombs food to eat, clothing to wear, boats to sail, weapons for war and
sports and games equipment s for their amusement. All the people in Ancient Egypt did many fun
things together. All of them enjoyed the Nile River, such as adults and children that they used to swim
and fished. People went to their temples together, where they worshipped their gods and watched
performances of plays.
Sport in ancient Egypt like all other aspects of ancient Egyptian culture was closely linked up with
religion. During feasts, the public entered the great temples to see and petition their deities and watch
athletes compete ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Do you play games? Maybe you go to the movies. How about listening to music? These are all things
we do for fun and games. What about the Ancient Egyptians? How did they have fun? From what we
have found out, they had lots of fun. They had toys, games, and played pretend. They listened to
musicians. And, they enjoyed sports. Let s see what we can discover. The history of sport probably
extends as far back as the existence of people as purposive sportive and active beings. Sport has been
a useful way for people to increase their mastery of nature and the environment. Of course, as we go
further back in history the dwindling evidence makes the theories of the origins and purposes of sport
difficult to support. Nonetheless, its importance in human history is undeniable.
Egyptians enjoyed the good life and playing was a part of it, all kings, princes and statesmen were
keen on attending sports competitions, which they encouraged and provided with the necessary
equipment. Children and adults are often depicted involved in games. Typically boys games were
rougher than those of the girls, but the latter weren t above fighting and hair pulling, like the pair in
the picture on the right fighting during the corn

Victor Stanley s Last Letter
Conor McKinley never felt torn between his Catholic faith and his sexual escapades. Hell, he hadn t
been in a church for nearing a decade. However, McKinley did believe in fate and defending Min jun
from this erroneous indictment.
Back at the defense table, after Min jun Kim and Conor played a peek a boo ritual unbeknownst to
Walter Rearin during the Prosecution s opening. Meanwhile, Conor s ass ring betrayed him as he
leaked Min jun s jism onto the chair.
Shit happens, thought Conor.
Nevertheless, as the murder trial progressed, Walter Rearin gave his opening Defense remarks in front
of the jury box. It made for a solemn moment, McKinley knew Min jun Kim s life was in the balance.
So Conor had to thwart further temptation as the court ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Mr Rutherford, did you and your wife have a happy marriage?
Of course. Married for twenty one years.
Congratulations. Now, did you ever quarrel?
Hesitantly, Stuart answered, Honestly, I don t know any marriage that doesn t have some form of
disagreement. That s how it evolves.
True. Thanks for your candor, said the Prosecutor as he trekked back to his table with a smugness,
which made McKinley want to choke him right there.
Once, seated in his chair, the Prosecutor asked his last question, Did you murder your wife, Audrey?
The witness chair skidded backwards as Stuart Rutherford came to his feet shouting, Never. How dare
you? Aren t you supposed to be on my side?
Once again, Sandoval s gavel banged for silence as the Judge spoke, We ll recess for thirty minutes as
the Prosecution controls their witnesses.
As Bailiff Bob escorted Min jun back to his holding cell, McKinley observed Mr Rutherford and
Butler Oliver in an animated exchange in the backside of the gallery. Oliver Winston, the Butler,
consoled Mr Rutherford as his hand gripped Rutherford s shoulder. And then, Oliver s fingers raised
Rutherford s limp

  • 3. The Complex Nature Of Equiano s Identity Crisis Daniel Miret HUM3306 29 September 2014 Option Three The complex nature of Equiano s identity crisis Equiano presents himself as an African, who is embattled with a myriad of issues enroute to a foreign land. He starts off as a normal African boy that takes pride in the family unit. His life changes as he is exposed to a life of slavery that makes him wonder just how far he would go to regain his freedom. Equaino is celebrated due to his anti slave trade achievements, but rather criticized for a lack of authenticity in his plight to free the world of slavery. He begins his narrative with a brief insight into the person he was before being captured. We discover a identity that is in the norm for African society. He presents himself as an African from Essaka, which is in Eboe, and what is currently referred to as Nigeria. Equiano was born in 1745 and was a member of the royal family. Moreover, he presents himself as a common African boy but his family and origins state otherwise. Equiano is engaged in a family that from the onset practiced its form of slavery through ownership of servants. His father gives the audience a sense of hypocrisy on Equiano s part when he rebukes slave trade. The identity of the character Equiano is immediately casted into doubt (Olaudah, 111). In retrospect, the African boy understood the dangers of abduction and was protected and aware of the incessant threat of capture. The fact remains that Equiano had his roots entrenched in a ... • 4. High Intensity Interval Training ( Hiit ) INTRODUCTION: High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) is known as one method to treat Cardiovascular Diseases (CD), such as Coronary Arterial Disease (CAD) and Heart Failure (HF), due to its potential to improve cardio respiratory fitness (1, 15). This exercise format is characterized as aerobic exercise performed in a high intensity usually controlled by either maximum oxygen uptake or maximum heart rate with active and low intensity. Performing exercise in high intensities mixed with active rest allows patients to tolerate a higher effort before they become tired. Heart failure patients present a diminished exercise capacity, due to a smaller Ejection Fraction (EF), which tells us how well the heart pumps blood to body. To these patients, High Intensity Interval Training has been reported for improving Systolic Function due to the increased effort in which the heart is working (16). The necessity to provide nutrients through circulation during exercise leads to an increased contractility and consequently LV Remodeling (15). Coronary Arterial Disease Patients have a decreased blood flow to the myocardial tissue due to an obstruction inside the coronary arteries. HIIT increases the arteriovenous O2 difference, which means there is an elevated consumption of oxygen by the tissues as result of a higher stroke volume. All those benefits have been shown in the literature, but most of the studies present data with short term interventions. A few studies discuss the benefits ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Why The Fortunes Of Kings Weston House Changed Between... Why The Fortunes Of Kings Weston House Changed Between 1700 And The Present Day Kings Weston House was built on the side of a ridge probably with idyllic pastoral views (as was the fashion in the 1700 s). Kings Weston House was probably built on this site because of those views, it was surrounded by countryside with a few grazing cattle s of sheep and most likely farmland visible, but the main view from the house was the River Severn and the rolling green hills of Wales visible on the other side. These views made it the perfect country house for a wealthy family. Today the view from the house is very different, you can see the built up council estates of Sea Mills and Lawrence Weston. Where in the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He wanted to build it on the same site as the Tudor mansion because it was in the ideal place for everything he needed. It was near the village of Shirehampton where he could hire people as servants to help run the house, and as they came from the village he did not have to pay to house them. It was only five miles from the city of Bristol so he could easily get there to sort out business, or for him and his family to enjoy what the city had to offer them. It was also very close to Sea Mills, where he wanted to build up the roman harbour because Bristol docks were beginning to lose trade to Docks in Liverpool. This is because Liverpool dock was a lot easier for ships to get to, unlike Bristol where they had to travel up the bendy and very tidal River Avon. So by building a floating harbour in Sea Mills ships would not have to travel all the way up the Avon. But Sea Mills harbour soon failed because it did not have sufficient links with Bristol. Also if you wanted to be elected in Parliament you had to have a certain amount of land and as Kings Weston has 60 acres of land it was the ideal place to build the new house. The current house was designed by John Vanbrugh. He was born in Londonin 1664 and came to Bristol in 1710 at the age of 46. • 6. Bullying Rhymes Sticks and stones may break my bones but words will never hurt me . This is one of the English language children s rhymes. It encourages children to ignore verbal insults, persuading them to stay calm and to not retaliate. The literal translation of this seems to be: You can say what you want, you can insult me verbally as much as you want. Words does not matter to me. I will go over it and I will forget. I will stay calm to show how strong I am . This is not as simple as it appears to be. These few simple words became so significant that I decided to use them as an introduction to the problem that this essay will be talking about, namely bullying. According to the definition, bullying is the use of force, threat, or coercion to abuse, intimidate, or aggressively dominate others. There are four different types of bullying including physical, verbal, emotional and cyber bullying. This essay will mainly focus on the verbal bullying that, despite the implication of the rhyme mentioned at the beginning of the introduction, causes a significant impact on individuals sanity and plays the huge role in shaping individuals personalities. Additionally, there is a big connection between children who are bullied and their suicidal thoughts. This is one of the most significant problems that exists among teenagers in American schools. However, I am not here to praise the Communist party of Vietnam. It is my firm belief that the Americans should have won this war, and that Vietnam should never have been divided in the first place, as this gave them the power to reclaim their land, piece by piece. • 10. Social Class and Power in the Novel ‚ÄúGreat Expectations‚Äù Social class played a major role in the society depicted in Charles Dickens s novel Great Expectations . Many characters were treated differently because of their social class in the story. Seeing the contrast between how the poor and the rich were treated will give a clearer understanding of how much social class mattered. During the nineteenth century, British society was dominated and ruled by a tightly woven system of class distinctions. Social relations and acceptance were based upon position. Charles Dickens utilizes Great Expectations as a commentary on the system of class and each person s place within it. In the character of Pip, Dickens demonstrates the working class obsession to overthrow their limitations and re invent ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Realizing this will play a part in proving that social class did matter in most but not all cases. For example, the lowest class people were Joe, Biddy, Magwitch, and Orlick. Joe and Biddy were very poor but had very good hearts. Joe was always there for Pip and Biddy had moved in to help Mrs. Joe. Magwitch was a dirty convict of the lowest class, but he turned out to be a very caring and generous man. Orlick was low class and his character also turned out to be very low because he was a murderer. The fact that there are both good and cold hearted people in the lower class shows that class has no connection with how people really are. Another example is the richer class. This includes Ms. Havisham, Estella, Herbert, Jaggers, and Wemmick. Ms. Havisham and Estella were both very wealthy but they had no heart and their intentions were to bring hell to all men. While Herbert was the opposite, he was a true friend to Pip and always stayed by his side. Jaggers and Wemmick also in the higher class had supported Pip through his gentleman years. Being aware that not all of the high class were necessarily good people states the fact that class does not determine character. Even though class mattered in most things, this is an example it did not take part in. The theme of social class is central to the novel s plot and to the ultimate moral theme of the book. Likewise, millions of people worldwide live in poverty and do not know when they will eat again. While the typical American throws away leftover food, children are dying across the world from starvation. To put this into perspective: By the time you have started reading, a child has died of hunger. Bioethicist and utilitarian philosopher, Peter Singer, in his argumentative essay, The Singer Solution to World Poverty, asserts that it is the individual s responsibility to save children in poverty. If an offensive player enters the other team s defensive zone before the puck, the play is whistled dead and it is called off sides. On the other hand in roller hockey, there are no such blue lines. The Misconceptions Of Authoritarianism Authoritarianism is a regime type and, furthermore, a political vision that seeks to create compliance in authority and establish order and peace by striving for absolute legitimacy. In an authoritarian regime, power relations are vertically organized, where there is little to no accountability for those in power and where civil and political rights of citizens, if established, are restrictive and violated. Two common misconceptions of authoritarianism are that they are durable and they have always have a paternal figure as leader. To the first point: though an authoritarian regime would be relatively simple to establish, the difficult task of legitimizing and consolidating absolute authority makes authoritarian rule an incredibly arduous endeavour. Authoritarian regimes can easily be snubbed out as quickly as they began to burn, pointing to how the legitimacy of authority is by far the most essential tool to the authoritarian. But who is the authoritarian? Many see authoritarian regimes as patrimonial, meaning that though there still might be complex institutions of bureaucracy, security, and even political parties, all authority comes from the top and the top alone. • 29. The Innocence of Lamb in Songs of Innocence by William Blake Songs of Innocence by William Blake collocates the naïve lives of children and loss of innocence of adults, with moral Christian values and how religion has the capacity to promote cruelty and prejudice. Blake was born in 1757, up to and after the French Revolution he wrote many works criticizing enlightened rationalism and instead focused on intellectual ideas that avoided institutionalization and propelled ethical and moral order. Blake s collection of poem exposes and explores the values and limitations of secular and religious institutions. The Lamb focuses on children s naivetés and innocence, but also curiosity in regards to faith, and ideas of nature and God. Though naiveté and meekness are present throughout The Lamb , Blake focuses on an underlying Christian theme of combining the pastoral with the spiritual. For example, the speaker, a boy, talks to a lamb, his beastly counterpart. The boy, speaking to the lamb asks. Little lamb, who made thee? (Blake 1). The opening query asked by the boy represents rhetoric of both the natural and spiritual world. Bryan Aubrey, in his critical essay of the lamb states, everything in creation is embraced by the tenderness of the divine...[there] is no separation between human self, the natural world, and the divine kingdom (Aubrey 1). • 31. Research Paper On Epilepsy Epilepsy is a neurological condition marked by sudden recurrent episodes of sensory disturbance, loss of consciousness, or convulsions, associated with abnormal electrical activity in the brain. It is the tendency to have seizures that start in the brain. The brain is made up of millions of nerve cells that use electrical signals to control the body s functions, senses and thoughts. If the signals are disrupted, the person may have an epileptic seizure (sometimes called a fit or attack ). The brain is the center that controls and regulates all voluntary and involuntary responses in the body. It consists of nerve cells that normally communicate with each other through electrical activity. A seizure occurs when part(s) of the brain receives a burst of abnormal electrical signals that temporarily interrupts normal electrical brain function. Epilepsy varies greatly and affects everyone differently. Anyone can develop epilepsy, at any time of life. It happens in people of all ages, races and social classes. ... Furthermore, the issue has been debated by two conflicting perspectives; one side representing multiculturalism and the other representing conservative nationalism. This essay will argue that the conservative nationalist position that immigrants must conform to Australian values is problematic as it seeks to exclude minority groups and thus forces these groups to conform. Prior to this, the statement will be argued by offering explanations on what Australian values are and the notion of citizenship and citizenship testing, assimilation, and what is meant by Team Australia as it relates respectively. This essay will also analyse briefly the arguments of multiculturalism. Furthermore, former Prime Minister Tony Abbott famously used the metaphor Team Australia in 2014 responding to anti terror initiatives and to an extent began a string of xenophobic behaviour. In addition, the rise of Pauline Hanson s One Nation party has brought the issue of immigration and culture into public debate, such as Ms Hanson s burqa stunt in the Senate which to some would be a disregard to culture and traditions, while others may see this as a threat to security and an Australian way of life due to the covering of the burqa and henceforth some advocating for a ban on religious coverings. The Ieee On Indoor Li Fi Systems White Paper to the IEEE on Indoor Li Fi Systems Matthew Fultz ENGH 302 Due: 12/8/2016 Introduction In 2011, Herald Haas gave a Ted talk on light fidelity (Li Fi) and demonstrated a functional Li Fi system and spoke of the future of telecommunications (Haas, Harald). His lecture sparked a wave of research on bidirectional Li Fi that has given renewed hope for the internet of things (IoT). Kevin Ashton, an MIT graduate, first introduced the IoT when he gave a presentation on the goal in 1999 (Davenport, Thomas). Herald Haas, who is now owns a Li Fi company called pureLiFi, asserts that every luminaire in a trafficked area will serve as an access point (AP) for user devices (UD)(Haas, Harald). Since 2011, we have done a research on how to best implement Li Fi, but there is still much research to be done. With the tight congestion in the RF spectrum, we are forced to look for other wireless solutions. There are a few solutions, such as WiGig, but Li Fi has emerged as the fastest means of bidirectionally wirelessly transmitting information. There are many advantages and many drawbacks, but the more research we conduct, the closer we get to making Li Fi a widespread technology. The implementation of light fidelity (Li Fi) is the next step towards a world characterized by the Internet of Things (IoT) because it will enable faster communication, release pressure off of the RF spectrum, and increase network security.
