How The Two Options For Our Project Into One
Foreword I decided to combine the two options for our project into one. I am doing it on both,
Leadership of myself and the company I own.
Background
Captures From the Heart Photography, located in Wilmington DE, serves clients on location only
in mainly DE, MD, PA and NJ however other states are offered with exceptions. The company was
founded and operated by photographer Heather Szczesiak in 2012. Captures From the Heart
Photography is a sole proprietorship and Heather is the sole employee. Additional staff will be
hired on a sub contract basis as needed. Captures From the Heart Photography offers a wide variety
of full service photography that specializes in mainly Wedding Photography. However, they also

The first reason, is because I have always loved photography. The next reason was to provide a
safety income for my family. When the physiological needs are reasonable satisfied, needs at the
next higher level begin to dominate man s behavior to motivate him. Roethlisberger, 2011)
Since I am the sole employee at Captures From the Heart, I have had to hire multiple contractors
on occasions. Early on, I hired a contractor whose work was sufficient for the job I needed her to
assist me with. However, her attire was not professional for a wedding. She wore jeans and a
tied dyed shirt, with sneakers. I had to think fast as how to rectify the situation, because the
person I hired stood out. I didn t want the bride and groom to feel as if her unprofessionalism
would ruin their day or worse hurt my reputation. So, I decided to apologize to the bride for the
way the contractor was dressed and I offered her a free wedding album for the inconvenience.
According to Patrick Lencioni s video the Five Dysfunctions of Teams, from the third
dysfunction was lack of commitment. Since everyone doesn t have the same work ethic and may
see their job as a paycheck and not a way to help a company succeed. The contractor I had hired
clearly didn t have the same working ethic as I do.
The type of company I want was not met in that instance. After the wedding, I spoke to the
contractor and explained their attire was not appropriate for a wedding. They didn t seem to

Essay on Authority and American Usage, by David Foster...
David Foster Wallace, author of the essay Authority and American Usage*, praises and advocates
for good writers who have a strong rhetorical ability, which he defines as the persuasive use of
language to influence the thoughts and actions of an audience (Wallace 628). To have a strong
rhetorical ability, an author needs to be aware of whom their audience is, in order to present their
information in a way that will be influential on their audience. Wallace recognizes that an author
who applies a strong rhetorical ability will be able to connect with the audience so that they respond
not just to [their] utterance but also to [them] (Wallace 641). An author needs to take into
consideration not just content, syntax and grammatical... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There, glaring up at me in bold, red ink against the crisp white paper was a C . Comparing my
grades to those of my classmates, it was revealed that they too had received these grades. What had
we done wrong?
Our teacher, Mrs. Hetrick, provided the answer to our question: These essays could have easily
been generated by a computer program. They tell me nothing about yourselves; why in the world
you are telling me all of this? You need to make me care about the message you are conveying,
otherwise, your writing is useless. She then told us that while we were all communicating in the
proper format, we had failed to take into consideration whom our audience was. In order to truly
persuade and influence our audience, we had to do more than place complicated ideas into a
grammatically immaculate sentences; we need to show the audience why they should care about
our writing; otherwise, they will just lose interest. I realize now that this experience provided a
stable foundation for what I consider to be an example of passionate rhetorical ability, which helps
me reflect on what authors Wallace deems as good through their rhetorical strategies.
Wallace distinguishes the Democratic Spirit in the writing of Bryan A. Garner, author of A
Dictionary of Modern American Usage (ADMAU). Wallace identifies a Democratic Sprit, as one
that combines rigor and humility, i.e, passionate conviction plus a sedulous respect for the

Starbucks Case Analysis Essay
I ve chosen the Starbucks Corporation on which to do my case assignment for the session. I first
became interested in Starbucks while working on a paper for a previous marketing class. I became
intrigued at the entrepreneurial spirit that such a large corporation had managed to maintain
throughout its massive expansion. Starbucks corporation, unlike many of its now defunct rivals,
has done an outstanding job since its meager beginnings in 1970 with the execution of its strategic
process; resulting in it currently owning 40% of the specialty coffee market and boosting annual
sales exceeding $7 billion according to Burt Helm. Historic successes and recent turmoil within the
company, including a near 40% decline in 2007 in profits (Sullivan... Show more content on

Essentially what Falletta is saying is that by determining what or where an organization is at, as
far as infrastructure, procedures, leadership, etc. its leadership can determine what changes need
to be made to achieve the desired objectives. Another important benefit of conducting analysis is
that Diagnosis confirms that a problem actually exists (Faletta 3). In conducting such an
analysis, a business can search out the underlying or root causes and then use this information to
inform members on how to make the necessary changes. A third point to consider is to look at
the business as one whole entity and not the sum of its individual parts. Faletta states that
business analysis should occur similar to the medical profession in which a physician takes a
holistic view of the patient. They do not simply look at a runny nose and bad cough and think
that there must be a problem with the individual s nose and lungs. They look at all symptoms,
how they are related, and what course of action is required to remedy all associated symptoms of a
common cold. A final important reason to conduct analysis is to determine if the changes made to
the organization are actually working. Mavis Gallant once stated, Success can only be measured in
the terms of distance traveled . Such is the case with business, unless the business knows its starting
point, it can have no way to determine if it s

Analysis Of Letter By Gordon Adams
This analysis is set to discuss a letter written by Gordon Adams. He is a student at Arizona State
University and wants to become a lawyer. However, he finds he must take mathematics courses,
specifically college algebra, to graduate and move on into law school. He claims that he does not
need to take college algebrabecause he does not needit in his profession and because if he takes the
course, it will delay him into law school. We follow him through his endeavor with ASU s
mathematics committee to try to waive his requirement for college algebra. However, he fails at
this task and, with every argument, you can t always get what you want in return. Rhetorically, I
think his argument to the committee is a good way to write an argument, at least in my opinion. He
asks the questionWhy do I need college algebra? (Adams 19). I can relate to this as many of us in
today s society are in college and we look at our degree requirements and think Why do I have to
take this class to ourselves. In Adams case he only has the benefit of a ninth grade education.
(Adams 18). It is clear that he needs algebra, but he tries to exempt himself from this requirement.
He contacts friends that are attorneys and they say that there are no courses in his profession that
even require algebra or more specifically, college algebra (20). Adams writes I consulted Mr. Jim
of the Justice College and presented this question to him. He referred to the current ASU catalog
and delineated the

Essay On Manmade And Natural Disaster
Mitigating, and Responding to Manmade and Natural Disasters? The effects of natural and
manmade disasters have become more prevalent, far reaching, and widespread. As a consequence,
preserving the safety, security, and prosperity of all parts of our society is becoming more
challenging. Among various aspects of the U.S emergency managementsystem, communication is
one of the most critical requirements. The word communicate implies conveying thoughts, ideas,
warnings, instructions, orders, command, knowledge and information (mass education and public
awareness), warning of impending threat of disasters, calling various resources and intimation to
authorities and conducting emergency managementin general. Management of any disaster or
emergency event is a very complicated and multi faceted task. One of the most overlooked parts of
any efficient emergency disaster response is the exchange of information between different
sources, emergency managers and those impacted by the event. Lack of experience in the capacity
of an emergency manager can have its downside making the event more stressful and
uncomfortable. The entire emergency management process is made further complex when
hindered by the lack of effective information distribution and gathering. The word communication
has a very remarkable place in all walks of life. A person is an element of the society they live,
nation and the world and cannot live his or hers in isolation. People have to interact with

First And Fourth Crusades Comparison Essay
Many have priorly stated that history repeats itself time and time again. This can be seen
throughout history but, especially so during the Crusades. This paper will discuss the parallels
between the First and Fourth Crusade. We will also take a brief look at the aftermath of the Fourth
Crusade and how it compares to the aftermath of the Second Crusade. The First Crusadewas
launched in 1095 by Pope Urban II in response to a call for aid by the Byzantines. The resulting
army swept through Asia Minor and into the Near East conquering several cities along the way.
Upon the successful conquering of the region, the crusaders divide the land among themselves
forming four crusader states: County of Edessa, Principality of Antioch, County of Tripoli, and the
Kingdom of Jerusalem. This takeover and dividing of territory is incredibly similar to what occurs
in the fourth crusade. Upon conquering Constantinople in April of 1204, the crusaders proceed to
divide the land among themselves much like they did earlier. They divided the land... Show more

This crusade would grant remission of sin to those who undertook the crusade. Harris again
remarks on the similarities, The reaction in the papal curia when news arrived that
Constantinople had fallen was much the same as it had been when Jerusalem had been lost to
Saladin in 1187 (pg 195 2nd Edition). Pope Urban IV justifies this new crusade by saying that
without Constantinople, the way to Jerusalem was blocked and any efforts to retake the Holy
Land would fail. This call to crusade is similar to the one that launches the Third Crusade led by
Richard Coeur de Lion to retake Jerusalem. However, here these parallels end. Unlike in the
Third Crusade, Pope Urban IV s call for crusade fails and no armies are sent forth. At least none
that could constitute a strict crusade due to a lack of promised remission of

The New Constitution And The Constitution
The new constitution formulated comprised of seven articles that explain how a government
should work in order to provide its citizens with the basic rights. This new system divided the power
between the federal government and the states. Furthermore, the American Revolution is extremely
important as the constitution that was later formulated still serves the basis of the American
constitution. Even though several amendments have been made to the constitution, the
revolutionary principles upon which the Constitution was made are still influencing the society of
the United States. The language and the sentiments involved in the Declaration of Independence

During the revolution, several African American slaves served in the revolutionary war from both
sides of the war. Moreover, this revolutionary war of independence helped the slaves in getting their
independence as well. This is when several thousands of the slaves attained the status of
independence by running away. As a result of the revolution, the slaves started to fight against the
slavery after getting the encouragement from the natural right philosophy of the seventeenth
century English philosopher John Locke (Digital History), which is also a part of the constitution
of the United States of America. This natural right philosophy is nothing else but the right to life
and liberty that the constitution of the United States guarantees to provide its citizens. In addition
to this fight of the African American against the slavery, the slaves began to appeal the Congress
in order to destruct the slavery. Furthermore, under the new constitution, the slaves were
considered as 3/5 as productive as a free person (Cardoza and Hume 116). Thus, after the
revolution, the slaves were also given representation while earlier the slaves were not considered to
have any kind of rights since they were not considered the citizens. Moreover, it was this
revolutionary war, after which the abolitionist movements initiated to abolish the slavery and thus,
the awareness about slavery increased. Also, a lot of

Food Waste In Canada
A growing issue about food waste is at hand in Canada, and citizens should seek methods in order
to reduce this. Personally I think people are blindfolded as to how much they are contributing to
this matter and the future consequences they may face. At the rate this issue is escalating it is
affecting the planet adversely, therefore efforts should be made by each individual. To reduce food
waste, it is necessary to be organized which could be done so by preserving, shopping better and
visibility.
By preserving food into canisters not only is it kept organized but the amount of food being
wasted will subside. Typically during occasions there tends to be an extra amount of food arranged
which is trashed out in the following days to come. Instead

Intel Capital Structure Essay
Question 5: Evaluate the Put Warrant/Convertible Bond proposal. Does it solve Intel s capital
structure dilemma? What arguments might be made in favor of it?
Intel s capital structure dilemma was that it was holding too much cash on hand. Eventually, there
were three available strategies or alternatives that Intel could undertake in terms of cash
disbursement policies. First, it could continue or expand its market repurchase program. Secondly,
Intel could declare dividends to its shareholders on existing stocks. The last strategy is to put
together a package of two unique securities: 1) A distribution of a two year put warrant to its
existing shareholders. 2) A distribution of 10 year convertible subordinated debentures to new...

In this sense, Intel is hence unlikely to be able to reduce their cash holdings via the put warrant
strategy. http://www.derivativesstrategy.com/magazine/archive/1998/0598col1.asp However, since
this is a distribution, and not sale, of the warrants, there are no tangible benefits for Intel if the stock
price at the expiration date is above $50. It does not stand to gain from any sale proceeds since the
warrants were distributed instead of sold.
The issuance of convertible debt will result in even more cash holdings for Intel, an additional $1
billion. This, at face value, does not solve Intel s capital structure dilemma of having too much
cash. However, Intel can afford to incur more debt financing, since it has relatively low long term
debt. By doing so, its long term debt ratio (using 1991 figure) would change to:
Long Term Debt Ratio = (Long Term Debt)/(Total Assets) = (0.363 + 1)/6.292
= 21.7%
This figure could be excessively high, as the industry average is 14.42%. It must be noted that
after two years, debt holders would be entitled to convert these convertible bonds into Intel
common stock. Should it be so, this would once again bring down the long term debt ratio, and
increase Intel s shareholder s equity.

Great Craft In The Great Gatsby
Gatsby? demanded Daisy. What Gatsby? (11). F. Scott Fitzgerald created The Great Gatsby with
great craft. The reader understands the story through Nick s eyes. Nick encounters many parties,
family gatherings, and a funeral. The scenes are so in depth that the reader feels as if they are
reliving the events in Nick s life. The reader can take out characteristics, thoughts of the society,
and themes in each scene that emphasizes the the themes of the book as a whole. Tom s Character
and the way society thinks of Tom leads to the theme of once a cheater, always a cheater. Gatsby s
characteristics and the way society portrays him demonstrates the theme of gossip altering Gatsby s
true qualities.
Characteristics of Tom stood out to the reader during Nick s first ever party in New York. While
Nick was spending the day with Tom, Tom picked up his mistress, Myrtle, and threw a party in
their apartment in New York. A couple other people attended this party. They knew both Tom and
Myrtle were married, but they did not seem awkward about it. Myrtle s sister, Catherine, believed

They used to go there by the hundreds (175). F. Scott Fitzgerald uses scenes in The Great Gatsby to
develop the themes of the book. These themes include: gossip causes people to believe that a

loyal to his wife, Daisy would not have had an affair with Gatsby. Also, if Gatsby was not so shy
and insecure, he would have found Daisy sooner, before she married Tom because of his wealth.
Furthermore, if Gatsby had not fallen in love with Daisy, and if Daisy did not marry Tom, Daisy
would not have ran Myrtle over and Mr. Wilson would not have killed Gatsby. If Gatsby talked to
others during his parties, more than a few people would have attended his funeral and he would

Flannery O Conner and the use of grotesque character in...
The representation of the grotesque is a characteristic of much 20th century writing (Holman 61).
Almost all of O Connor s short stories usually end in horrendous, freak fatalities or, at the very
least, a character s emotional devastation. People have categorized O Connor s work as Southern
Gothic(Walters 30). In Many of her short stories, A Good Man Is Hard To Find
for example,
Flannery O Connor creates grotesquecharacters to illustrate the evil in people.
Written in 1953, A Good Man Is Hard To Find is one of O Connor s most known pieces of work
and has received many awards. Throughout the story, you come across many twists and turns
when you least expect it. A Good Man Is Hard To Find is a story which includes religion,... Show

O Connor writes in ways that let us know the characters thoughts without really coming out and
telling us. O Connor often changes the mood of the story very quickly from amusement to horror
and vice versa. In her stories, grotesque is often used to tie together the seriousness and the
comedic situations. Flannery O Connor said of her work, the look of the fiction is going to be
wild... it is almost of necessity going to be violent and comic; because of the discrepancies it seeks
to combine. (Walters 7).
Many had their own opinions of O Connor s work. The literary works of Flannery O Connor
often contend that religious belief can only be consummated by direct confrontation with evil
and for those uncommitted and unprepared, tragedy seems inevitable. (Cook Online). Many of
the early critics never realized that O Connor s worked with revelation, which at the time, others
did not (Reagan Online). As Frederick Asals once said, Conflict, often violent conflict, is the
very center of Flannery O Connor s fiction (93). Although O Connor s work was awarded greatly,
it was also often dismissed because of its Gothic Violence (Reagan Online). I have to agree with
Dorothy Walters when she says, ...nothing is more striking than her remarkable capacity to blend
the comic and the serious in a single view of reality. (13).
O Connor was very successful each

What Is The Gradient Of A Graph
From the graph shown in Figure 6, it can be seen that the data has a linear relationship where
y=0.0715 x. The extremely high r squared value of 0.9988 for the graph shows that a linear
trendline is appropriate for the data set. The gradient of this graph can be used to calculate the
constant of magnetism (k) which then can be compared against its actual value to determine the
percentage error present in the results. As I_OUT MAX=(4ПЂ^2 fkN_1 N_2 I)/RL A, the gradient
of a graph where peak output current is graphed against peak input current the gradient is equal to

Meaning Of The Law Of Moses
Meaning of the phrase Law of Moses
The meaning of the phrase law of Moses has different possible meanings. To find which of the
meanings fit the text best one must look at the Hebrew context. Since there is no word for of in
the biblical Hebrew, Hebrew uses what is called a construct chain to define what type of
(possessive) relationship between two nouns. A construct chain is when two nouns are placed
side by side in which the (possessive) relationship between these two nouns is expressed. In a
constructive chain, the word of is implied because each of the nouns is side by side. Most of the
time two different translations is possible, for example law of Moses or Moses law.
Now as to some of the possible meanings of the phrase law of Moses there are a few. The most
assumed meaning is that Moses wrote the law this comes from the constructive chain that is
being in the subjective genitive form of authorship which could mean Moses wrote the law The
problem with this is that this does not necessarily mean all , meaning that it does not explicitly
suggest that Moses wrote all of the law. Therefore, there are other possible meanings to the
phrase the law of Moses. Other possible meaning would be that Moses had possession of the law
, the law was given to Moses, the law was for Moses, or law about Moses. There is another
possible meaning and that is that it means the Mosaic law, which refers to the Torah. These
meanings are all possibilities even

Chevy Vs Corvette Research Paper
Is the Chevrolet Camaro SS a 2+2 version of the Corvette? It sure seems that way.
Both models share a 6.2 liter, V 8 engine making 455 horsepower. The Camaro has an output of
455 foot pounds of torque; the Corvette comes in at 460 foot pounds. In the Camaro, you get a 6
speed manual transmission; the Corvette has an additional shift point.
From there, the differences become more apparent as the Camaro is at least 300 pounds heavier,
a foot longer and sits five inches higher than Chevrolet s sports car. The styling separation is
apparent as well, but if you were to drive both models back to back, you d quickly note the
performance levels are nearly the same.

The idea of justice in Western political thought has been debated throughout history. Political

Wednesday Wars By William Shakespeare
The quality of mercy is not strained, is a line from the Shakespeare play The Merchant of
Venice. This line is used in the book Wednesday Wars by Gary Schmidt. This line means that
people should not be forced to be kind or show mercy. Showing mercy is something that should
happen naturally in humans and not be to benefit themselves or be forced to do it. It should
come from the kindness of your heart. Relating to the plot line of Wednesday Wars, the mean old
teacher, Mrs. Baker, shows mercy towards one of her students, Holling Hoodhood, when Holling
brings in cream puffs for the whole class to eat, but the class rats eat and destroy all of the cream
puffs. To illustrate, the text states, Thank you for the cream puffs, I said. The quality of mercy is
not stained, she said. Mrs. Baker looked up... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He thinks about the racism and hate toward immigrants from Vietnam and the people that died

That s how it is in Shakespeare. But Shakespeare was wrong. Sometimes there isn t a Prospero to
make everything fine again. And sometimes the quality of mercy is strained (page 72). The
meaning behind this quote is very true to reality. It means that with all the bad things going on
in the world, there is not always someone to be the knight in shining armor, or to be the good guy
and save the day. People are not always nice to each other. Sometimes tragedies happen, and even
though they are never happen, it is just part of life. Happy endings always occur in stories or

Decomposition Of Salmon Essay
Decomposition of Salmon
The decomposition of salmon and other waste products from salmon farming have a wide array of
environmental impacts. The effects on the environment are seen through nitrogen and oxygen
depletion in the vicinity, remineralization, fish waste, and other waste materials known to thrust the
salmon environment into a zone of stress.
Nitrogen Oxygen Depletion
The largest impact that decomposition has on natural world in the vicinity of salmon farms is
nitrogen and oxygen depletion. Studies have shown that the decomposition of salmon in fish
farming strategies contributes to the loss of nitrogen and oxygen in the surrounding areas (Brickell
Goering, 1997). This can be attributed to the chemical process a salmon carcass ... Show more

Overabundance of these chemicals is toxic to fish and can cause fish kills (Genoil, 2012). Fish
carcass remineralization can ultimately block sunlight and choke plants causing the ecosystem to
collapse into a deadzone (Genoil, 2012). Farmed fish mortality can reach 30% in shallow waters
(Genoil, 2012). Salmon farms increase organic matter mineralization (Heilskov Holmer, 2001).
This is caused by enhanced microbial activities because of the presence of organic rich faecal
pellets (Heilskov Holmer, 2001). The microbial organisms are more active in the fish farms because
the stagnant waters allow certain bacteria from salmon faecal pellets to accumulate and provide the
microbes with a near optimal environment to produce the inorganic substances that are byproducts
of remineralization. The salmon also catalyzed this process by direct ingestion of detritus (Heilskov
Holmer, 2001). Through the direct ingestion of these decomposers, the salmon undergo a biotic
decomposition where the carcasses are broken down into simpler, organic matter that undergo

The Policy Process Of New Zealand Essay
The Policy Process
Task II: Briefing Paper
Summary:
There is an imminent threat posed by the climate change issue that New Zealand faces. Human
wellbeing, food and water security, health issues and national security are some of the threats that
New Zealand will have to resolve. One of the first global effort in response to combating the issue
of climate change is the Kyoto Protocol. However, the agreement did not include the two largest
world emitters of greenhouse gas China and the USA.
The issue impedes development in many small south pacific island nations. Agriculture is one of
the major export for many developing island nations. The rise in sea level due to climate change
directly affects the agricultural production. The ASEAN summit has identified food securityto be of
great concern and there is a need to address the issue. The issue affects most south pacific island
countries. Climate change affects them in many ways and one of the major issues is the rise in
sea levels. High tides lead to flooded roads affecting transportation and other infrastructure. Heat
stress and saltwater incursions are some of the effects that is quite problematic for the industry.
Furthermore, the rapid population growth and increasing food consumption per person is also a
critical issue. Drought or the lack of availability of fresh water is also a concern. People are
migrating due to flooding caused by the rising sea level. A research conducted by London School

Language In To The Lighthouse, By Virginia Woolf
Virginia Woolf (1882 1941) was a prolific writer, whose style changed with each new novel, and her
work represented the historical moment when art was integrated into society. Her modernist novel
To the Lighthouse stray s from the conventional forms of writing, concentrating not on the plot but
on the characters consciousnessand physical development, producing an innovative type of
narrative which depicts realities beneath appearances, and at the same time brings about a deep
exploration of the human mind. To the Lighthouse was written in 1927 and it is considered a
masterpiece due to the way in which Woolf experimented with the stream of consciousness as well
as with the emotional feelings of her characters. The composition has relatively... Show more

and afterwards another character s consciousness is introduced, all of these being combined within
one sentence. These aspects are psychological elements that constitute the basis for a modernist
writing, and as Virginia Woolf said in her essay Modern Fictionfor the moderns the point of
interest lies very likely in the dark places of psychology. (11) Though the novel contains a
multitude of conventional narration and descriptions, the interior monologue is very often
employed so as to give the novel its special character of seeming to be always within the
consciousness of the characters. A good example of WoolfВґs technique can be seen in the fallowing

Analysis Of Ray Bradbury And Ursula Le Guin
A Convenient Society One can unknowingly suffer for the sake of society s convenience. Both
authors, Ray Bradbury and Ursula Le Guin, demonstrate the suffering that the protagonist endures
in order to serve their society. A variety of rhetorical strategies and modes contribute to the overall
role of the protagonists. Ray Bradbury uses personification and the rhetorical mode of pathos to
convey the oblivious suffering that the protagonist, the smart house , undergoes. Ursula Le Guin
utilizes diction and the rhetorical mode of pathos to demonstrate the society s dependency on the
life of a young, hopeless boy. Through the authors use of diction, personification, and the rhetorical
mode of pathos, readers can view both short stories in... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In Ray Bradbury s August 2026: There Will Come Soft Rains , The McClellan family home seems
equipped with every imaginable technological innovation, but it fails to provide more human
qualities like love (Devers). This excerpt is an example of how the author expresses
personification in this short story. The house has each and every technical tool that it needs to
function, yet, it does not have the love of its owners any longer. Along with personification,
Bradbury uses the rhetorical mode of pathos to demonstrate how the house continues to carry out
its daily functions even though the surrounding society has suffered. An example of how
Bradbury attempts to capture the reader s emotional psyche is, In the nursery the jungle burned.
Blue lions roared, purple giraffes bounded off....Ten more voices died... . This allows readers to
feel sorry for the perishing animals that are dying in the burning house. As Bradbury uses
personification and pathos to engage readers into the short story, readers can emotionally relate
and visualize a house that continues to function without a society. In The Ones Who Walk Away
From Omelas written by Ursula Le Guin, a society is depicted as a care free utopia. In this society
lies the protagonist. In the beginning of the short story, Le Guin asks the reader question such as,
How describe the citizens of Omelas .

Character Sketch Of Celie
The Color Purple by Alice Walker
Character sketch of Celie
Alice Walker was greatly influenced by the time period of the 1940 s. There was much racism and
oppression during that time, especially for black women. Women were beaten and abused simply
because of their colour and gender. It is one of the most groundbreaking novel of hers set mainly in
rural Georgia in 1930s. The book tells the story about a young African American woman named
Celie and her struggle for empowerment in the world marked by racism, sexism and patriarchy.

Celie is at the bottom of the social hierarchy in the South because she is poor, she is black, and

patriarchal social system that does not value a female except as a sexual object and a labourer.
From early in the novel, Celie looks for ways to stand up for this unfair system. It is Shug who
teaches her about her own self worth, making her believe in herself. As a result, she finally leaves
Albert, her abusive husband, and goes with Shug to make a life of her own. By the end of the
novel, she has built a successful business, largely because she never gave in to the reality of her
life, but searched for the truth beyond it.

Hydrogen Power Of A Power System
1.INTRODUCTION: 1.1Background: Reactive power in a power system is important to
maintain or support the voltage to deliver the active power demanded by the load side.
Synchronous generators are the main source of reactive power in most of the power plants. The
reactive power capability of the generator is the amount of the reactive support produced at the
rated generator terminals. The capability of these generators are represented by capability curves
that are published by the manufacturer based solely on the thermal limitations as shown in figure
1. But in the real world, when the generator is employed in a power plant, its reactive capability is
much less compared to that of published generator capability due to several design and operating
constraints of the plant. This forms the basis to determine the reactive capability of the generator
operating in the power plant. Fig. 1. Generator Reactive Capability Curve (D Curve) with Different

using synchronous generators is the amount of the reactive power that is produced by the unit
considering design constraints, system operations and limitations. In a Bulk Electric System (BES)

So, it is important to define the capability limits to evaluate the voltage support under normal,

Joseph Boyden s novel The Orenda displays the tragedies of warfare, famine, disease, and the
slow rise of colonization. The Orenda refers to the soul that inhabits all living things and the
novel explores the loss of the Huron people s Orenda as well as their way of living through the
rise of Christianity. The colonization of the French people, in this case the priests, is what leads the
Huron to lose their Orenda. This is caused by the Huron underestimating the power of Christophe

Second, the introduction of more Europeans to the land of the Huron impacts the people
severely. Not only do the white men bring colonization with them, they also bring diseases that

Death in the novel also represents betrayal, I say this because Ikemefuna called Okwonkwo his

Some that are listed in the text are Ani, Amadiora, Idemeli,Agbala, and Ogwugwu and they are

of supernatural beliefs in the text, the fact that the people of Umuofia practice/believe in certain
rituals and ceremonies contribute to the role of supernatural.
In Things Fall Apart Okwonkwo was told to kill Ikemefuna, the village boy who has become like
a son to him. The religous allusion refers to the Last Supper when Abraham was ordered to kill
his son Isaac by god. Okwonkwo in Things Fall Apart is playing Abraham and the Oracle is the
god who orders him to do so. Ikemefuna is Isaac in this biblical allusion, the oracle doesnt want
Okwonkwo to have anything to do with the killing of Ikemefuna. This represents the angel that
comes down and stops Abraham from killing Isaac.

Avoiding the Possessive Shadow of Society
Ralph Waldo Emerson once wrote, It is easy in the world to live after the world s opinion; it is
easy in solitude to live after our own; but the great man is he who in the midst of the crowd
keeps with perfect sweetness the independence of solitude. (Emerson 1) Being one s self in
today s society is increasingly difficult every year and can have a major effect on the mental
state of teenagers. It is easy to follow the pack, but then one is just a faceless person marching in
with the crowd with no true purpose; true strength is in those who try to be themselves in the face
of society. Many teens struggle with their identities and can turn to self harm or even suicide to
relieve their pain, yet not enough effort goes into trying to help these struggling teens. In fact in a
recent study done for Curing the illness: suicide prevention , professor John Wensly states that
Suicide rates are increasing alarmingly. Every year we see a ten percent increase in suicide
attempts alone. (Wensly 23) In his book Into the Wild, Jon Krakauer writes about Christopher
McCandless, who did anything but live in society s large and possessive shadow. Chris broke free
from society s chains and lived his life with adventure despite the numerous people telling him to
stop. Into the Wild by Jon Krakauer focuses on Christopher McCandless and his mysterious

Leon Trotsky s Contribution to the Success of the Bolsheviks Up To 1922
In this essay I will explain Leon Trotsky s contribution to the success of the Bolsheviks. I will
consider a number of reasons including his organisation of the revolution, his actions on the 6th 8th
November 1917, public speaking, The Red Army civil war, and the Kronstadt uprising. I will finish
with a clear, concise, conclusion.
Leon Trotsky was born in 1879 in a remote part of southern Ukraine. He was the son of a Jewish
farmer and was educated ant Odessa University. He became very interested in the writings of Karl
Marx, as a result he spent long times in exile. Trotsky was a first a Menshevik and did not join the

On the evening of 6th November 1917, Trotsky went to the Peter and Paul Fortress, this housed the
majority of Russian arms, it is located on an island in the middle of the river Neva in Petrograd, he
bribed the troops guarding the fortress and his troops were given access to powerful munitions.
Later that night the Revolution began. The primary objectives were to take command of railway
stations, post offices, telephone centres, banks, bridges, and the Engineers Palace (the military
headquarters). This objective continued into the morning of the 7th, and on the evening of the 7th
November 1917 Trotsky and his Red Guard stormed the Winter Palace and arrested the ministers of
the provisional government. On the 8th November, an announcement was made that the provisional
government had been overthrown. This helped the Bolsheviks because the organisation skills
Trotsky supplied meant the Bolsheviks had support and weapons, if it hadn t been for him, the
Bolsheviks may never have overthrown the government. It also meant everything was perfectly set
up for the Revolution
Trotsky was a skilled public speaker who managed to inspire his listeners to support him and his
party. His speeches were inspirational to everyone who listened and it made many change their
ideas about how Russia should be governed. He made his speeches with skill and brilliance . An

Biscuits History
Canned biscuits and rolls had been developed by Southern companies that recognized there was
money to be made selling traditional culture back to a rapidly changing region, he writes.
Convenience foods allowed consumers to serve foods that reflected the regions past but could be
produced with low cost with new efficiency. Fast foodchains began to pop up across the south mid
century. Harland Sanders opened Kentucky Fried Chickenin 1952 and sold southern style biscuits
on his menu. Hardees was founded in 1960 and pioneered the market for breakfast biscuits, served
at the drive through. Hardees started to bake their biscuits from scratch in 1970, then in 1977 the

Low crowned biscuits, the kind often made at home, began to fall out of favor, he writes. By the
late 70s, high crowned fast food biscuits, jacked up with shortening and stuffed with what the
company called fried steak (but which looked like a battered and fried burger), were the
standard he judged his morning commute meals by. Biscuit Maker s owner describes hers as big
and fluffy, and we use lots of butter, she said. I can t stand a dry biscuit. Really, no one likes dry
biscuits. Of all the insults that can be lobbed at a cook s biscuits (there s no shortage), calling them
dry is the worst.
Mt. View Citgo s biscuits are definitely big enough to be called cathead, and cook Cindy
Bradley calls them the best in town. (Incidentally, nearly every cook interviewed called their
biscuit the best in town or just like grandma made ). The recipe was passed down from previous
cooks who no longer work at the Cove Road gas station. She learned it when she came on board a

Dengue Fever, a tropical arbovirus infection (viruses transmitted by arthropods to humans), is an
emerging viral disease infecting approximately 100 million individuals globally (52% at risk) per
year living in dengue risk areas, primarily tropical urban areas and subtropical ones.1 Most cases are
commonly distributed and reported among humans in India, South East Asia, South and Central
America, Africa, and the Caribbean. It has plagued such regions for centuries and turned into a
crucial public health concern in need of stringent control measures. However, considering the

Our nation s governmental officials hold an extreme great of power, especially the Supreme Court

regulations as it is up to them to interpret statutes. In the past century, the courts and EPA
administrators have imposed hurdles for environmental regulators and citizens wanting to protect
the earth. In particular, they have failed society with rulings under the Takings and Commerce

The Great Gatsby Book Cover Essay
My cover for the book The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald features the symbol which would
be the green light that is mentioned in the story book. The symbol, which again is the green
light, symbolizes Gatsby s unrequited love for the beautiful and fair Daisy. Jay Gatsby likes to
look up and gaze at the twinkling stars, until he saw the green light that is in Daisy s house that is
across from his own house. Gatsby does not realize this at first because he thought that the green
light was a star, but in actuality it is a light in Daisy s house. The cover that I have drawn for the

My book cover for the book The Great Gatsby goes very well for the real book because Jay
Gatsby knows so much about Daisy and he would have done anything to get hold of her
attention, and Daisy does not know what Jay Gatsby is up to until later in the story. I, Mauricio
B. Romero, personally selected this symbol for my cover because it has a much bigger and
thoughtful meaning, therefore it is easy to put into a state of imagery. I wanted to show Jay
Gatsby would walk a street to street just so he can be with the one woman he wants to be with.
Even if Daisy does not know what is going on or does not know much about the man, that won t
stop Jay Gatsby from trying continuously in different ways to get her in his grasp and for them to
be happy together. So, that concludes this explanation and I am typing this conclusion just so I
can get my word count up to 350 or above. Mrs. Striblen, you better not make me retype this

The Information Processing Model ( Woolfolk And Margetts...
Briefly, describe a past academic (school or tertiary) learning experience that you found difficult.
With specific reference to the relevant elements of the Information Processing Model (as described
in lecture and in Woolfolk and Margetts 2016), explain why you found the learning situation
difficult. What strategies, drawn from the readings and lecture, would you now put in place to
improve such a situation if you faced it again in the future.
This essay will briefly describe a past academic learning experience that I found difficult. I will
use elements of the Information Processing Model (Woolfolk Margetts, 2016) to help explain why
the difficulties occurred and to uncover different strategies that could be put in place if ever I was
to face this, and other situations again.
The past learning experience that I found difficult was a speech assignment at high school when I
was 14 years old. It wasn t just the presenting but the process of researching and having to write a
30 minute speech for an internal English assignment. I found it hard and it ended with me failing.
Our five senses are constantly being battered by new sights, sounds and smells from the
environment. For us to make appreciate these senses, there is an initial process that transforms
these new sensations or information it s called sensory memory (Woolfolk Margetts 2016). I would
describe it as a temporary holding cell that stores new sensations to allow processing to take place.

Richard Cameron is one of the most conformist and eventually antagonistic characters in the Dead
Poets society. He is one of few who takes the traditionalist mentality at Welton Academy to heart
and idealizes Mr. Nolan s preparatory teachings. Cameron is invited to join the Dead poets society
and does so, but with notably less enthusiasm than some of his peers. Even here, while on the
surface it may appear a nonconformist act to join this group that Keating already said would not be
looked upon favorably from the current administration, Cameron only joined this group because his
closest associates prompted the action. Cameron would not have taken the first move to actually

He must be fully exonerated and the school making him a scapegoat for Neil s death has no

to individuality and freedom. This teacher, especially in the subject of English, is supposed to
expand the students creativity and teach them to think for themselves. Keating only did his job
to the best of his ability, and the fact that he had such a large impact of Neil and some other
students reflects on how well he was doing his job, and not that he is to blame for Neil s death.
While it could be argued that Neil had no life threatening or rebellious episodes against his father
or his school until Keating began to teach, this is more of a statement on the ineffectiveness of
the previous teachers. The fact that Neil begins to take control of his life shows how Keating
has inspired Neil to think for himself, which is the purpose Keating s job. The fact that previous
teachers failed to do this should not reflect poorly on Keating, nor should it be a cause for his
guilt. Further evidence against Keating s guilt is that Neil attempts to stand up his father in the
beginning of the film, before he meets Keating. This attitude was already present in Neil, and
Keating only gave Neil more self assurance, and thus he is not to blame. Keating is innocent in
Neil s death, as he only did his job to the best of his ability, and outside factors such as Neil s
father provided the circumstances for Neil s feeling of hopelessness and eventual

The Components Of Virtuous Leadership
Scholz Posted Date: September 21, 2017 6:52 AMStatus:Published
Victor,
Negative organizational climate is something that has become quite of an issue at my workplace. It
tends to go in somewhat of a downward spiral one person will become disgruntled about something
and start complaining, this grumbling creates a negative environment, more people become
disgruntled and join in, and the cycle continues. Virtuous leadership can help break this cycle of
negativity and boost positivity within the organization climate. Even as coworkers, we can display
the components of virtuous leadership by focusing on the greater good and portraying trust,
integrity, and forgiveness (Kinicki Fugate, 2012). Essentially, we can be a light to those in our
workplace and combat the spreading, negative darkness (Matthew 5:14 16, New International
Version).
Whenever we form a group or team at my job one of the first things we do is assign and define
roles and responsibilities. Motivation and satisfaction of team members can be increased when they
are assigned roles congruent with individual strengths and abilities (Fischer, n.d.). This task could
help eliminate your issues concerning role conflict. When a group has an assigned leader it can
function without the continual question of who is in charge. Additionally, assigned roles can help
with your groups competition of what individual or job is most important; everyone can recognize
the uniqueness of each individual s

Culture Matters: The Impacts of Asian Culture on Mental Health and the Patient Practitioner
Relationship Mental health illnesses affect everyone. It is highly prevalent affecting people of all
ages, gender, cultures, and social groups. Attitudes towards mental health illnesses vary among
individuals and often are highly influenced by the various cultures that the individuals identify
with. Culture as a social concept can be defined as a set of norms, values, behaviours, and beliefs
that are common and shared amongst a group of individuals (U.S. Department of Health and
Human Services, 1999). Culture can be applicable to groups like Asians and Americans but also to
groups of shared norms, beliefs, and values established within professions such as the culture of
patients and practitioners. Culture provides these groups with structure and context to
understanding their society and the world as a whole. Culture influence a wide range of aspects of
mental health, including how mental health is perceived by the patient, how the patient will
experience mental health stigma, and how they cope with symptoms of mental health illness.
Additionally, these cultural influences impact the relationship between the patient and the
practitioner in a number of ways.

In 1913, Albert Salomon was the first doctor to study x rays of breast tissue working for the Royal

had been removed for study (Weerakkody). Using x rays trying to figure out the breast pathology,
he was able to distinguish the difference between cancerous and noncancerous tumors successfully
by detecting different type of breastcancer. In the mid 1930 s, Stafford L. Warren became the first
physician to use the new skill in the United States (Weerakkody). Women diagnosed early thought

Radiology estimates that 3D mammography will replace conventional mammography screening

two years before it will become large enough for you to feel it. The 3D mammography technology
finds significantly more invasive cancers than a traditional mammogram. By finding breast cancer

breast cancer is found early, the five year survival rate is greater than 95% (Greenberg).

The Threat of Love in Totalitarian Regimes as Depicted in...
Love is the foundation and the weakness of a totalitarian regime. For a stable totalitarian society,
love between two individuals is eliminated because only a relationship between the person and
the party and a love for its leader can exist. The totalitarian society depicted throughout the
Orwell s novel 1984 has created a concept of an Orwellian society. Stalin s Soviet state can be
considered Orwellian because it draws close parallels to the imaginary world of Oceania in 1984.
During the twentieth century, Soviet Russia lived under Stalin s brutal and oppressive
governments, which was necessary for Stalin to retain power. In both cases, brutality and
oppression led to an absence of relationships and love. This love was directed towards... Show more

Joseph Stalin built up this love with the Cult of Personality . He was glorified with giant statues
and monuments. Stalin appeared daily on the cover of Soviet newspapers; he was in every facet
of Soviet life. Daily visual imagery of Stalin portrayed him as a Georgian peasant, which
emphasized socialist principles of power from the people. In addition, people called him father
and teacher of the peoples (Runyan 66) and a deity, because he replaced the Czar and the
Church. These daily images were engraved in the minds of the people. Thus, the Cult of
Personality was flourishing. Propaganda glorifying Stalin and Soviet ideals brainwashed the
minds of Russian people. Stalin successfully impressed his socialist philosophies on millions of
workers and peasants. Over time, socialism transformed into Stalinism, and it took hold. Stalin
was able to hypnotize people towards one belief, the love of Stalin. A simple cause and effect:
they saw imagery of Stalin portrayed heroically everyday in the news or on posters and they
began to idolize him. Stalin is like Big Brother; he was the focus and with the love and loyalty of
his people, he had total power over them and their actions. The description of Big Brother himself
bears a physical resemblance to Stalin and his cult of personality. Orwell s Big Brother is an all

An Outline Of The Veggies ( And Fruits ! ) For Seniors...
With the exploding population of senior citizens occurring at this time, we are seeing a
commensurate explosion in health problems with are causing a taxing burden on the health care
system. Health conditions such as high blood pressure, obesity, diabetes, kidney failure and
others are expensive to treat, and oftentimes they are fatal. However, diet is a major contributor
to many of these problems. The Veggies (and Fruits!) for Seniors Health Promotion Project is
designed to bring to the attention of seniors the need to consume a diet high in fruits and
vegetables as part of an overall healthy lifestyle. This summary will quantify the problem,
provide an outline of the Veggies (and Fruits!) for Seniors program, along with cooperating
partners, and propose objectives that should be accomplished once this project is executed. The
senior population continues to grow much faster than it has in any generation in the history of the
United States. According to the U.S. Bureau of the Census (2008), the anticipated growth of the
population 60 and over in the U.S. is expected to grow from just under 55 million in the 2010
census to 72 million in the 2020 census. This represents a 13% increase in the aging population in
just a 10 year period. To add to this, we are currently experiencing what the National Institute on
Aging (2015) characterizes as a dramatic increase in life expectancy. This means that there are

Shopping Center Case Study
A second possibility for a future downtown type of development might be a location near the
Highway 6 and 24 Castle Valley Boulevard intersection. There is already a substantial amount of
commercial development in this area, albeit in a suburban land use form, that might support this
notion. More than likely, given the existing land use pattern, the social and gathering area (a future
Downtown) would need to be sited to the east of the exiting shopping center development.

There is already substantial traffic and road infrastructure in this area to support a downtown like
commercial center. Moreover, to the extent that this concept generates additional traffic, it will have
very little impact on the existing Castle Valley and Lakota Ranch neighborhoods. The existing
peace and solitude of those neighborhoods can be preserved. In all likelihood, for those visiting the
community this location would be easy to find, something that may be more difficult for a location
in Castle Valley or the current location. In general, this location can serve most of the key functions
that a downtown must fulfill in the community a place that provides the social life, connectivity
and entertainment of the community for all ages.
While this site may make more sense than a Castle Valley location, there are significant issues to
consider here. First, to create a true downtown setting, serving the type of role described above, the
Town Hall, Library and Community Center should ideally be moved to this location. The
community already has substantial investment in this facilities at their current location.
Second, there remain a substantial number of unbuilt residential units in the Lakota and Castle
Valley neighborhoods. It may not make sense for the community to approve a large number of
additional residential units at this time. Therefore, a project like this may take many years to bring to

Essay On Organ Donation
Organ donation is when a person authorizes an organ or any biological tissue of the human body
to be surgically remove while the donor is still alive or after death. Organs and tissues that are
transplantable will be removed in a surgical procedure and will be determine if they are suitable
and can be used for transplantation. An organ transplantation is a surgical procedure in which an
organ is removed from the donor s body and placed in the recipient s body. Organ donor is
someone who is giving an organ or tissue to the recipient who is in need of a transplant while the
beneficiary of the organ that will be donated from the organ donor is called the recipient. There are
two kinds of organ donation: living donation and deceased donation. Living donation is when the
organ donor is still alive while deceased donation is when the donation takes place after death.
Organ donation has been going on for centuries. The very first successful living donor transplant
took five and a half hours at Brigham Hospital in Boston in December 23, 1954. The operation
was led by Dr. Joseph Murray along with Dr. David. The first organ donor was Ronald Herrick.
He donated one of his kidneys to his identical twin brother, Richard Herrick. Richard was dying
from a chronic nephritis, an inflammation of the kidneys. As a matter of fact, Ronald was a living
related donor. That means the organ comes from a blood relative such as parent, brother or sister.
Later on, the successful operation led Dr.

Background Captures From the Heart Photography, located in Wilmington DE, serves clients on location only in mainly DE, MD, PA and NJ however other states are offered with exceptions. The company was founded and operated by photographer Heather Szczesiak in 2012. Captures From the Heart Photography is a sole proprietorship and Heather is the sole employee. Additional staff will be hired on a sub contract basis as needed. Captures From the Heart Photography offers a wide variety of full service photography that specializes in mainly Wedding Photography. The next reason was to provide a safety income for my family. When the physiological needs are reasonable satisfied, needs at the next higher level begin to dominate man s behavior to motivate him. Roethlisberger, 2011) Since I am the sole employee at Captures From the Heart, I have had to hire multiple contractors on occasions. Early on, I hired a contractor whose work was sufficient for the job I needed her to assist me with. However, her attire was not professional for a wedding. She wore jeans and a tied dyed shirt, with sneakers. I had to think fast as how to rectify the situation, because the person I hired stood out. I didn t want the bride and groom to feel as if her unprofessionalism would ruin their day or worse hurt my reputation. So, I decided to apologize to the bride for the way the contractor was dressed and I offered her a free wedding album for the inconvenience. According to Patrick Lencioni s video the Five Dysfunctions of Teams, from the third dysfunction was lack of commitment. Since everyone doesn t have the same work ethic and may see their job as a paycheck and not a way to help a company succeed. The contractor I had hired clearly didn t have the same working ethic as I do. The type of company I want was not met in that instance. After the wedding, I spoke to the contractor and explained their attire was not appropriate for a wedding. They didn t seem to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Essay on Authority and American Usage, by David Foster... David Foster Wallace, author of the essay Authority and American Usage*, praises and advocates for good writers who have a strong rhetorical ability, which he defines as the persuasive use of language to influence the thoughts and actions of an audience (Wallace 628). To have a strong rhetorical ability, an author needs to be aware of whom their audience is, in order to present their information in a way that will be influential on their audience. Wallace recognizes that an author who applies a strong rhetorical ability will be able to connect with the audience so that they respond not just to [their] utterance but also to [them] (Wallace 641). An author needs to take into consideration not just content, syntax and grammatical... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There, glaring up at me in bold, red ink against the crisp white paper was a C . Comparing my grades to those of my classmates, it was revealed that they too had received these grades. What had we done wrong? Our teacher, Mrs. Hetrick, provided the answer to our question: These essays could have easily been generated by a computer program. They tell me nothing about yourselves; why in the world you are telling me all of this? You need to make me care about the message you are conveying, otherwise, your writing is useless. She then told us that while we were all communicating in the proper format, we had failed to take into consideration whom our audience was. In order to truly persuade and influence our audience, we had to do more than place complicated ideas into a grammatically immaculate sentences; we need to show the audience why they should care about our writing; otherwise, they will just lose interest. I realize now that this experience provided a stable foundation for what I consider to be an example of passionate rhetorical ability, which helps me reflect on what authors Wallace deems as good through their rhetorical strategies. Wallace distinguishes the Democratic Spirit in the writing of Bryan A. Garner, author of A Dictionary of Modern American Usage (ADMAU). Wallace identifies a Democratic Sprit, as one that combines rigor and humility, i.e, passionate conviction plus a sedulous respect for the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Starbucks Case Analysis Essay I ve chosen the Starbucks Corporation on which to do my case assignment for the session. I first became interested in Starbucks while working on a paper for a previous marketing class. I became intrigued at the entrepreneurial spirit that such a large corporation had managed to maintain throughout its massive expansion. Starbucks corporation, unlike many of its now defunct rivals, has done an outstanding job since its meager beginnings in 1970 with the execution of its strategic process; resulting in it currently owning 40% of the specialty coffee market and boosting annual sales exceeding $7 billion according to Burt Helm. Historic successes and recent turmoil within the company, including a near 40% decline in 2007 in profits (Sullivan... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Essentially what Falletta is saying is that by determining what or where an organization is at, as far as infrastructure, procedures, leadership, etc. its leadership can determine what changes need to be made to achieve the desired objectives. Another important benefit of conducting analysis is that Diagnosis confirms that a problem actually exists (Faletta 3). In conducting such an analysis, a business can search out the underlying or root causes and then use this information to inform members on how to make the necessary changes. A third point to consider is to look at the business as one whole entity and not the sum of its individual parts. Faletta states that business analysis should occur similar to the medical profession in which a physician takes a holistic view of the patient. They do not simply look at a runny nose and bad cough and think that there must be a problem with the individual s nose and lungs. They look at all symptoms, how they are related, and what course of action is required to remedy all associated symptoms of a common cold. A final important reason to conduct analysis is to determine if the changes made to the organization are actually working. Mavis Gallant once stated, Success can only be measured in the terms of distance traveled . Such is the case with business, unless the business knows its starting point, it can have no way to determine if it s ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Analysis Of Letter By Gordon Adams This analysis is set to discuss a letter written by Gordon Adams. He is a student at Arizona State University and wants to become a lawyer. However, he finds he must take mathematics courses, specifically college algebra, to graduate and move on into law school. He claims that he does not need to take college algebrabecause he does not needit in his profession and because if he takes the course, it will delay him into law school. We follow him through his endeavor with ASU s mathematics committee to try to waive his requirement for college algebra. However, he fails at this task and, with every argument, you can t always get what you want in return. Rhetorically, I think his argument to the committee is a good way to write an argument, at least in my opinion. He asks the questionWhy do I need college algebra? (Adams 19). I can relate to this as many of us in today s society are in college and we look at our degree requirements and think Why do I have to take this class to ourselves. In Adams case he only has the benefit of a ninth grade education. (Adams 18). It is clear that he needs algebra, but he tries to exempt himself from this requirement. He contacts friends that are attorneys and they say that there are no courses in his profession that even require algebra or more specifically, college algebra (20). Adams writes I consulted Mr. Jim of the Justice College and presented this question to him. He referred to the current ASU catalog and delineated the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Essay On Manmade And Natural Disaster Mitigating, and Responding to Manmade and Natural Disasters? The effects of natural and manmade disasters have become more prevalent, far reaching, and widespread. As a consequence, preserving the safety, security, and prosperity of all parts of our society is becoming more challenging. Among various aspects of the U.S emergency managementsystem, communication is one of the most critical requirements. The word communicate implies conveying thoughts, ideas, warnings, instructions, orders, command, knowledge and information (mass education and public awareness), warning of impending threat of disasters, calling various resources and intimation to authorities and conducting emergency managementin general. Management of any disaster or emergency event is a very complicated and multi faceted task. One of the most overlooked parts of any efficient emergency disaster response is the exchange of information between different sources, emergency managers and those impacted by the event. Lack of experience in the capacity of an emergency manager can have its downside making the event more stressful and uncomfortable. The entire emergency management process is made further complex when hindered by the lack of effective information distribution and gathering. The word communication has a very remarkable place in all walks of life. A person is an element of the society they live, nation and the world and cannot live his or hers in isolation. People have to interact with ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. First And Fourth Crusades Comparison Essay Many have priorly stated that history repeats itself time and time again. This can be seen throughout history but, especially so during the Crusades. This paper will discuss the parallels between the First and Fourth Crusade. We will also take a brief look at the aftermath of the Fourth Crusade and how it compares to the aftermath of the Second Crusade. The First Crusadewas launched in 1095 by Pope Urban II in response to a call for aid by the Byzantines. The resulting army swept through Asia Minor and into the Near East conquering several cities along the way. Upon the successful conquering of the region, the crusaders divide the land among themselves forming four crusader states: County of Edessa, Principality of Antioch, County of Tripoli, and the Kingdom of Jerusalem. This takeover and dividing of territory is incredibly similar to what occurs in the fourth crusade. Upon conquering Constantinople in April of 1204, the crusaders proceed to divide the land among themselves much like they did earlier. They divided the land... Harris again remarks on the similarities, The reaction in the papal curia when news arrived that Constantinople had fallen was much the same as it had been when Jerusalem had been lost to Saladin in 1187 (pg 195 2nd Edition). Pope Urban IV justifies this new crusade by saying that without Constantinople, the way to Jerusalem was blocked and any efforts to retake the Holy Land would fail. This call to crusade is similar to the one that launches the Third Crusade led by Richard Coeur de Lion to retake Jerusalem. However, here these parallels end. Unlike in the Third Crusade, Pope Urban IV s call for crusade fails and no armies are sent forth. At least none that could constitute a strict crusade due to a lack of promised remission of ... The New Constitution And The Constitution The new constitution formulated comprised of seven articles that explain how a government should work in order to provide its citizens with the basic rights. This new system divided the power between the federal government and the states. Furthermore, the American Revolution is extremely important as the constitution that was later formulated still serves the basis of the American constitution. Even though several amendments have been made to the constitution, the revolutionary principles upon which the Constitution was made are still influencing the society of the United States. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... During the revolution, several African American slaves served in the revolutionary war from both sides of the war. Moreover, this revolutionary war of independence helped the slaves in getting their independence as well. This is when several thousands of the slaves attained the status of independence by running away. As a result of the revolution, the slaves started to fight against the slavery after getting the encouragement from the natural right philosophy of the seventeenth century English philosopher John Locke (Digital History), which is also a part of the constitution of the United States of America. This natural right philosophy is nothing else but the right to life and liberty that the constitution of the United States guarantees to provide its citizens. In addition to this fight of the African American against the slavery, the slaves began to appeal the Congress in order to destruct the slavery. Furthermore, under the new constitution, the slaves were considered as 3/5 as productive as a free person (Cardoza and Hume 116). Thus, after the revolution, the slaves were also given representation while earlier the slaves were not considered to have any kind of rights since they were not considered the citizens. Moreover, it was this revolutionary war, after which the abolitionist movements initiated to abolish the slavery and thus, the awareness about slavery increased. Also, a lot of ... Personally I think people are blindfolded as to how much they are contributing to this matter and the future consequences they may face. At the rate this issue is escalating it is affecting the planet adversely, therefore efforts should be made by each individual. To reduce food waste, it is necessary to be organized which could be done so by preserving, shopping better and visibility. • 10. Intel Capital Structure Essay Question 5: Evaluate the Put Warrant/Convertible Bond proposal. Does it solve Intel s capital structure dilemma? What arguments might be made in favor of it? Intel s capital structure dilemma was that it was holding too much cash on hand. Eventually, there were three available strategies or alternatives that Intel could undertake in terms of cash disbursement policies. First, it could continue or expand its market repurchase program. Secondly, Intel could declare dividends to its shareholders on existing stocks. The last strategy is to put together a package of two unique securities: 1) A distribution of a two year put warrant to its existing shareholders. 2) A distribution of 10 year convertible subordinated debentures to new... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In this sense, Intel is hence unlikely to be able to reduce their cash holdings via the put warrant strategy. http://www.derivativesstrategy.com/magazine/archive/1998/0598col1.asp However, since this is a distribution, and not sale, of the warrants, there are no tangible benefits for Intel if the stock price at the expiration date is above $50. It does not stand to gain from any sale proceeds since the warrants were distributed instead of sold. The issuance of convertible debt will result in even more cash holdings for Intel, an additional $1 billion. This, at face value, does not solve Intel s capital structure dilemma of having too much cash. However, Intel can afford to incur more debt financing, since it has relatively low long term debt. By doing so, its long term debt ratio (using 1991 figure) would change to: Long Term Debt Ratio = (Long Term Debt)/(Total Assets) = (0.363 + 1)/6.292 = 21.7% This figure could be excessively high, as the industry average is 14.42%. It must be noted that after two years, debt holders would be entitled to convert these convertible bonds into Intel common stock. • 13. Flannery O Conner and the use of grotesque character in... The representation of the grotesque is a characteristic of much 20th century writing (Holman 61). Almost all of O Connor s short stories usually end in horrendous, freak fatalities or, at the very least, a character s emotional devastation. People have categorized O Connor s work as Southern Gothic(Walters 30). In Many of her short stories, A Good Man Is Hard To Find for example, Flannery O Connor creates grotesquecharacters to illustrate the evil in people. Written in 1953, A Good Man Is Hard To Find is one of O Connor s most known pieces of work and has received many awards. Flannery O Connor said of her work, the look of the fiction is going to be wild... it is almost of necessity going to be violent and comic; because of the discrepancies it seeks to combine. (Walters 7). Many had their own opinions of O Connor s work. The literary works of Flannery O Connor often contend that religious belief can only be consummated by direct confrontation with evil and for those uncommitted and unprepared, tragedy seems inevitable. (Cook Online). Many of the early critics never realized that O Connor s worked with revelation, which at the time, others did not (Reagan Online). As Frederick Asals once said, Conflict, often violent conflict, is the very center of Flannery O Connor s fiction (93). Although O Connor s work was awarded greatly, it was also often dismissed because of its Gothic Violence (Reagan Online). • 16. Meaning Of The Law Of Moses Meaning of the phrase Law of Moses The meaning of the phrase law of Moses has different possible meanings. To find which of the meanings fit the text best one must look at the Hebrew context. Since there is no word for of in the biblical Hebrew, Hebrew uses what is called a construct chain to define what type of (possessive) relationship between two nouns. A construct chain is when two nouns are placed side by side in which the (possessive) relationship between these two nouns is expressed. In a constructive chain, the word of is implied because each of the nouns is side by side. Most of the time two different translations is possible, for example law of Moses or Moses law. Now as to some of the possible meanings of the phrase law of Moses there are a few. The most assumed meaning is that Moses wrote the law this comes from the constructive chain that is being in the subjective genitive form of authorship which could mean Moses wrote the law The problem with this is that this does not necessarily mean all , meaning that it does not explicitly suggest that Moses wrote all of the law. Therefore, there are other possible meanings to the phrase the law of Moses. Other possible meaning would be that Moses had possession of the law , the law was given to Moses, the law was for Moses, or law about Moses. There is another possible meaning and that is that it means the Mosaic law, which refers to the Torah. These meanings are all possibilities even ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This is caused by enhanced microbial activities because of the presence of organic rich faecal pellets (Heilskov Holmer, 2001). The microbial organisms are more active in the fish farms because the stagnant waters allow certain bacteria from salmon faecal pellets to accumulate and provide the microbes with a near optimal environment to produce the inorganic substances that are byproducts of remineralization. She received one liter of NS 0.9% at a rate of 1L/hr. and two doses of IV diltiazem 10 mg each to cardiovert her, and it was successful. The Judicial Police find the body of renowned curator Jacques Sauniere naked and positioned as Da Vinci s Vitruvian Man. As a result of a message left by the deceased, Robert Langdon, Professor of Religious Symbology at Harvard University, was beckoned to the crime scene by Bezu Fache, captain of the Central Directorate Judicial Police. During Landon and Fache s view of the crime scene and the coded message that the deceased left using his own body as part of that message, Officer Sophie Neveu from the Cryptology Department joined the meeting under the pretense that she had deciphered the coded message. In the meantime, Bishop Manuel Aringarosa, a president general of the Opus Dei, is traveling to Rome at the direction of The Teacher . The Opus Dei is the fastest growing and most financially secure Catholic organization in the world. However, many thought that it was a brain washing cult due to the vigorous following of Catholic doctrine including vows of chastity, tithing and atonement for sins through a self flagellation and the chalice. Soon after the release of his narrative, the hidden violence of the Zeitoun couple was disclosed to the public. Evidently proven, there has morosely been a history of domestic violence and rage with Abdulrahman Zeitoun beating his wife with extreme measures. Controversy was clearly evident upon whether or not Zeitoun should be allocated to upcoming juniors in the summer after the released report. I firmly stand by prohibiting the reading of Zeitoun for forthcoming 11th graders of Mills High School. • 32. Hydrogen Power Of A Power System 1.INTRODUCTION: 1.1Background: Reactive power in a power system is important to maintain or support the voltage to deliver the active power demanded by the load side. Synchronous generators are the main source of reactive power in most of the power plants. The reactive power capability of the generator is the amount of the reactive support produced at the rated generator terminals. The capability of these generators are represented by capability curves that are published by the manufacturer based solely on the thermal limitations as shown in figure 1. But in the real world, when the generator is employed in a power plant, its reactive capability is much less compared to that of published generator capability due to several design and operating constraints of the plant. This forms the basis to determine the reactive capability of the generator operating in the power plant. Fig. 1. Generator Reactive Capability Curve (D Curve) with Different hydrogen pressures for Plant Under Study 1.2Unit Capability: Unit capability of steam power plants using synchronous generators is the amount of the reactive power that is produced by the unit considering design constraints, system operations and limitations. In a Bulk Electric System (BES) unit capability can determine the amount of reactive power required to improve the voltage profile. So, it is important to define the capability limits to evaluate the voltage support under normal, abnormal and emergency conditions. The ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 33. Orenda Essay Joseph Boyden s novel The Orenda displays the tragedies of warfare, famine, disease, and the slow rise of colonization. The Orenda refers to the soul that inhabits all living things and the novel explores the loss of the Huron people s Orenda as well as their way of living through the rise of Christianity. The colonization of the French people, in this case the priests, is what leads the Huron to lose their Orenda. This is caused by the Huron underestimating the power of Christophe Crow, letting more Europeans become a part of their society and the desperation that is caused by the great war against the Haudenosaunee. This warning foreshadows the ending of the book where the Huron had no choice but watch the destruction of their community along with their people and their culture. The decision to keep Crow in spite of the bad feeling that it brings Gosling as well as the obliviousness of the Hurons to Crow s powers marks the beginning of colonization that eventually wipes out their identity. Second, the introduction of more Europeans to the land of the Huron impacts the people severely. Not only do the white men bring colonization with them, they also bring diseases that wipes out about half of the Huron population. The Europeans brought diseases such as smallpox and yellow fever and because the Huron were not exposed to these diseases before, their bodies are not able to fight the diseases which causes half the population s death. After this dilemma, a series of unfortunate events spirals on the Huron. They encounter a drought, which forces them to rely on trading with the French but with half their population gone, the are not able to venture out and trade with the French. In addition, with half the population gone, they are not able to complete as much tasks as the big community used to acquire. When Okwonkwo is ordered to kill Ikemufuna it was nt simply because he wanted to. In reality he didn t want anything to do with the death but it was a sacrifice ordered by the oracle. In Okwonkwo s efforts to never look weak he particpates in the killing of Ikemefuna even though he was told not to. Death in the novel also represents betrayal, I say this because Ikemefuna called Okwonkwo his dad. Through the beginning of the text til when Ikemufuna is sacraficed no one seen that coming. The gods aren t the only evidence of supernatural beliefs in the text, the fact that the people of Umuofia practice/believe in certain rituals and ceremonies contribute to the role of supernatural. In Things Fall Apart Okwonkwo was told to kill Ikemefuna, the village boy who has become like a son to him. The religous allusion refers to the Last Supper when Abraham was ordered to kill his son Isaac by god. Okwonkwo in Things Fall Apart is playing Abraham and the Oracle is the god who orders him to do so. Ikemefuna is Isaac in this biblical allusion, the oracle doesnt want Okwonkwo to have anything to do with the killing of Ikemefuna. This represents the angel that comes down and stops Abraham from killing Isaac. In the novel Things Fall Apart Okwonkwo does not want to be weak like his father, so he is on a jorney to have a better life. Avoiding The Possessive Shadow Of Society Ethan Honorat Mr. Naserdine Literature Honors 5 January 2016 Avoiding the Possessive Shadow of Society Ralph Waldo Emerson once wrote, It is easy in the world to live after the world s opinion; it is easy in solitude to live after our own; but the great man is he who in the midst of the crowd keeps with perfect sweetness the independence of solitude. (Emerson 1) Being one s self in today s society is increasingly difficult every year and can have a major effect on the mental state of teenagers. It is easy to follow the pack, but then one is just a faceless person marching in with the crowd with no true purpose; true strength is in those who try to be themselves in the face of society. Many teens struggle with their identities and can turn to self harm or even suicide to relieve their pain, yet not enough effort goes into trying to help these struggling teens. In fact in a recent study done for Curing the illness: suicide prevention , professor John Wensly states that Suicide rates are increasing alarmingly. Every year we see a ten percent increase in suicide attempts alone. (Wensly 23) In his book Into the Wild, Jon Krakauer writes about Christopher McCandless, who did anything but live in society s large and possessive shadow. I believe that Teiresias is explaining that a good man knows how to admit when he is wrong and tries to fix the problem that his mistake has caused. The only crime is pride. The Components Of Virtuous Leadership Scholz Posted Date: September 21, 2017 6:52 AMStatus:Published Victor, Negative organizational climate is something that has become quite of an issue at my workplace. It tends to go in somewhat of a downward spiral one person will become disgruntled about something and start complaining, this grumbling creates a negative environment, more people become disgruntled and join in, and the cycle continues. Virtuous leadership can help break this cycle of negativity and boost positivity within the organization climate. Even as coworkers, we can display the components of virtuous leadership by focusing on the greater good and portraying trust, integrity, and forgiveness (Kinicki Fugate, 2012). Essentially, we can be a light to those in our workplace and combat the spreading, negative darkness (Matthew 5:14 16, New International Version). Whenever we form a group or team at my job one of the first things we do is assign and define roles and responsibilities. Motivation and satisfaction of team members can be increased when they are assigned roles congruent with individual strengths and abilities (Fischer, n.d.). This task could help eliminate your issues concerning role conflict. When a group has an assigned leader it can function without the continual question of who is in charge. Additionally, assigned roles can help with your groups competition of what individual or job is most important; everyone can recognize the uniqueness of each individual s ... The 3D mammography technology finds significantly more invasive cancers than a traditional mammogram. By finding breast cancer early, a woman s chance of survival is higher and may have more treatment options available. When breast cancer is found early, the five year survival rate is greater than 95% (Greenberg). Additionally, finding breast cancer early enables more women to select treatment options that allow them to keep their ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 49. The Threat of Love in Totalitarian Regimes as Depicted in... Love is the foundation and the weakness of a totalitarian regime. For a stable totalitarian society, love between two individuals is eliminated because only a relationship between the person and the party and a love for its leader can exist. The totalitarian society depicted throughout the Orwell s novel 1984 has created a concept of an Orwellian society. Stalin s Soviet state can be considered Orwellian because it draws close parallels to the imaginary world of Oceania in 1984. During the twentieth century, Soviet Russia lived under Stalin s brutal and oppressive governments, which was necessary for Stalin to retain power. In both cases, brutality and oppression led to an absence of relationships and love. This love was directed towards... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Joseph Stalin built up this love with the Cult of Personality . He was glorified with giant statues and monuments. Stalin appeared daily on the cover of Soviet newspapers; he was in every facet of Soviet life. Daily visual imagery of Stalin portrayed him as a Georgian peasant, which emphasized socialist principles of power from the people. In addition, people called him father and teacher of the peoples (Runyan 66) and a deity, because he replaced the Czar and the Church. These daily images were engraved in the minds of the people. Thus, the Cult of Personality was flourishing. Propaganda glorifying Stalin and Soviet ideals brainwashed the minds of Russian people. Stalin successfully impressed his socialist philosophies on millions of workers and peasants. Over time, socialism transformed into Stalinism, and it took hold. Stalin was able to hypnotize people towards one belief, the love of Stalin. A simple cause and effect: they saw imagery of Stalin portrayed heroically everyday in the news or on posters and they began to idolize him. Stalin is like Big Brother; he was the focus and with the love and loyalty of his people, he had total power over them and their actions. The description of Big Brother himself bears a physical resemblance to Stalin and his cult of personality. Orwell s Big Brother is an all seeing, all knowing figure with ultimate authority. Soviet Russia was Orwellian in the sense that individual thought was ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 50. An Outline Of The Veggies ( And Fruits ! ) For Seniors... With the exploding population of senior citizens occurring at this time, we are seeing a commensurate explosion in health problems with are causing a taxing burden on the health care system. Health conditions such as high blood pressure, obesity, diabetes, kidney failure and others are expensive to treat, and oftentimes they are fatal. However, diet is a major contributor to many of these problems. The Veggies (and Fruits!) for Seniors Health Promotion Project is designed to bring to the attention of seniors the need to consume a diet high in fruits and vegetables as part of an overall healthy lifestyle. This summary will quantify the problem, provide an outline of the Veggies (and Fruits!) for Seniors program, along with cooperating partners, and propose objectives that should be accomplished once this project is executed. The senior population continues to grow much faster than it has in any generation in the history of the United States. According to the U.S. Bureau of the Census (2008), the anticipated growth of the population 60 and over in the U.S. is expected to grow from just under 55 million in the 2010 census to 72 million in the 2020 census. This represents a 13% increase in the aging population in just a 10 year period. To add to this, we are currently experiencing what the National Institute on Aging (2015) characterizes as a dramatic increase in life expectancy. This means that there are more seniors than ever and more older seniors than ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

There is already a substantial amount of commercial development in this area, albeit in a suburban land use form, that might support this notion. More than likely, given the existing land use pattern, the social and gathering area (a future Downtown) would need to be sited to the east of the exiting shopping center development. Highway 6 and 24 Downtown Concept While this depiction represents only a rough concept, and there are many ways for this type of development to occur, it is clear that it has a number of benefits. A traditional downtown and neighborhood design, with a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There is already substantial traffic and road infrastructure in this area to support a downtown like commercial center. Moreover, to the extent that this concept generates additional traffic, it will have very little impact on the existing Castle Valley and Lakota Ranch neighborhoods. The existing peace and solitude of those neighborhoods can be preserved. In all likelihood, for those visiting the community this location would be easy to find, something that may be more difficult for a location in Castle Valley or the current location. In general, this location can serve most of the key functions that a downtown must fulfill in the community a place that provides the social life, connectivity and entertainment of the community for all ages. While this site may make more sense than a Castle Valley location, there are significant issues to consider here. First, to create a true downtown setting, serving the type of role described above, the Town Hall, Library and Community Center should ideally be moved to this location. The community already has substantial investment in this facilities at their current location. Second, there remain a substantial number of unbuilt residential units in the Lakota and Castle Valley neighborhoods. It may not make sense for the community to approve a large number of additional residential units at this time. Therefore, a project like this may take many years to bring to ...
