The Economic Growth of Japan
Japan may have restored sovereignty to the Emperor and updated its Feudal government to a
modern system, but its economy could not reach its potential unless Japan compensated for its
need of resources such as oil, rubber, and metals (Columbia University). The Empire of Japan, as
it was called from the Meiji Restoration until post World War Two invaded a series of countries
from the late 1800 s to the 1940 s. These include the Sino Japanese War (1895), Russo Japanese
War (1905) both over Korean domination, Manchuria (1931), China (1937), and French
Indochina (1940) (Columbia University). The government was still militaristic and expansion for
economic gain was the direction Japan chose (Japan Guide). This is seen through the risks Japan
took to get the benefits of the invasions, such as Korea and its raw materials, and the supplies of
Manchuria, China, and French Indochina. Lastly, Japan wanted to go after British and Dutch
colonies to help secure their defense. The only thing standing in the way of taking these
territories was the American Navy (Columbia University). Now Japan has to gamble. However,
Japan has won wars against both Russia and China from a few decades before. Not only has Japan
gained what they wanted from them, but they have established themselves as a power and gained
respect (Japan Guide). With a great sense of Nationalism and militarism, Japan has convinced
people that loyalty to the country and the ways of Bushido, the old Samurai creed, will bring them

Comparing Mt. St. Helens to Kilauea
Of the volcanoes that are located in the United States there are two which are world renowned for
their activity and their power to change the region surrounding them. The two volcanoes would be
Mount Saint Helens and Mount Kilauea. In order to get a better understanding of these volcanoes
we will be comparing and contrasting them as well as talking about how they were formed and
when they last had an eruption. Let s begin with Mount St. Helens which is located in the pacific
northwest of the United States. To be more specific it is located in Washington State and is a part
of the Cascade mountain range that spans from California to Canada. It is a composite volcano,
which has steep sides that are formed by alternating layers of lava... Show more content on

Tuesdays In The Tower Book Report
Many young children dream of living in a castle. A castle is a key part of many fairy tales, whether
they have a princess locked up in a tower, a terrible dragon inside which must be defeated, or the
castle is the home where a royal family resides. In Wednesdays in the Tower, by Jessica Day
George, the royal familyindeed lives in a castle. They do not live in just any castle; their castle is
for lack of a better word; alive. The book, Wednesdays in the Tower, is another book that fits into
several genres. It is traditional literature. The story incorporates folkloric elements; it is a story
meant to entertain. It shares in the folktale criteria of being a beast tale, a main character in this
book is Rufus; a griffin which Celie, one of the princesses in the story hatched from an egg the
castle gave her. Rufus has most of his animal characteristics but he is decidedly opinionated much
like a human would be. The story also includes magicand wonder, because there is nothing normal
about a castle, which when bored... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

read out loud and discuss some of the thematic elements and what we would do if it were real, for
example, what would you do if your house decided to grow rooms because it was bored. I would

series. I believe it s appropriate enough for all of their ages they we could read it as a

My Personal Favorite Chain Of Hotels
I choose to focus on Marriott International Hotels. This has always been my personal favorite
chain of hotels to stay at. Marriott is a leading hospitality company with revenues of nearly $13
billion a year, a fortune 500 company, and over 4,000 properties in 78 countries. They have a
majority of their properties in the United States and Europe, but also have properties in Africa,
Asia, Australia, Canada, Caribbean, Central America, Mexico, Middle East, and South America. I
will discuss this company s strategic plan, policies and procedures, vision, and more.
First off, it all began with a root beer stand. John and Alice Marriott decided to open a root beer
stand in Washington, D.C. in the summer of 1927. After this was such a success, they decided to
expand and open restaurants in 1953. Then, in 1957 they opened their first motel in Arlington, VA.
Eventually, their son Bill Marriott took over the family business and made the company one of the
world s leading hospitality companies. The Marriott offers a variety of services to their customers.
They have certain rewards programs to save you money, complimentary breakfast at some of the
hotels, great customer service. They also book events, like social events, wedding receptions,
meetings, etc.
The Marriott says they do not have a mission statement. They said they have a vision statement
instead, which is to be the #1 hospitality company in the world. They value putting people first,
pursuing excellence,

Essay on Romance de la Luna, Luna
Federico Garcia Lorca s Romance de La Luna, Luna is a Spanish poem that tells the story of a
young gypsy boy and the moon. His love and infatuation with the moon leads to his death. This
poem not only tells the story of this young child s demise, but also shows the effects when
someone is lured in by an appealing temptation. The poem uses many literary devices to enhance
the meaning the words provide. The poem starts at the beginning of the story as the mooncomes to
visit the forge. The moon is said to be wearing her skirt of white, fragrant flowers (Lorca 2) as its
bright light penetrates the scene. The poem states the young boywatches her, watches. / The young
boy is watching her (3 4). The repetition of the phrase emphasizes... Show more content on

The moon has now become ominous as it forewarns of the child s death. Spanish culture is once
again brought into the poem as the moon becomes deathly. The moon has always been a figure
of death in Spanish history and continues to be represented in that matter by this poem. The
moon s sensual appeal balances its foreboding nature. The boy is enticed by the mystery of the
moon and does not heed her warning. Once again the boy warns the moon, flee, moon, moon,
moon (17), as he shows his continued persistence to save the moon he has been draw into. He
warns that the gypsies are coming, but the moon will not leave its dance. The moon says, young
boy, leave me, don t step on / my starched whiteness (19 20). This shows her lack of concern for
the boy, which exemplifies her task to only attract him to her. Her starched whiteness once again
contradicts her true mission to lead him to his demise. Beating the drum of the plain (22) stresses
the intensity of the moment leading up to the point that within the forge the young man has closed
eyes (23).
The climax of the story has just occurred, as the child death has taken place. The Spanish belief
that the moon is a bad omen has remained true with the little boy s eyes closed, signifying his
death. The gypsies return and the diction used to describe them emphasizes their mystery and flow.
How the night bird sings (29) implies the bird is singing a song to mourn the death of the child. It
then says across the sky moves

INTRODUCCIГ“N

English Sign Language ( Bsl )
British sign language (BSL) is a method of interacting with others using hands, facial
expressions and your body language, it is mainly used by individuals who are deaf. BSL is a
recognised language and does not be influenced by on spoken language. BSL is a language
which is utilised by many individuals which has experienced a lot of discrimination over many
eras. Many people who are born deaf or are deafened early in life use sign language to
communicate. Using the 2011 census, we can estimate that there are 24,326 people in the UK aged
three and over who use sign language as their main language (action on hearing loss fact sheets)

Paying out from your own budget is still overwhelming for those who have family to earn for. If
people have the privilege to learn British Sign Language in primary schools, it will be easy and
fun to learn, young children will be able to connect more fluently with hearing impaired children
and appreciate the outside world more and how challenging it can be to live and cope with a
disability. This will also allow children to learn a new language faster as the younger you are
when learning a language, you tend to remember it more, whereas learning it when you are older
tends to be more difficult. If we bring BSL into the national curriculum, it would be an advantage
to both hearing and deaf individuals as this would break the communication barriers so that both
deaf and hearing can communicate together, therefore breaking any stereotypes and making more
friends with deaf individuals, this would also increase knowledge and understanding about deaf
cultures. Signing should be classed as a foreign languages for GCSE (http://www.bbc.co.uk/news

for deaf and hearing impaired (deaf awareness charity) The government has stated that if a BSL

What Is Compounding Pharmacy
What is a compounding Pharmacy? What are its benefits?
What is pharmacy compounding?
Pharmacy compounding is the practice of manufacturing personalized drugs for patients when they
may not be capable of using a commercially available medicine, or they may require a medicine,
which is currently not available or discontinued.
What exactly is Compounding Pharmacy?
A compounding Pharmacy prepares compounded drugs, according to the prescription of medical
practitioners. These drugs may be a blend of ingredients, which are included in the medicines in
exact dosage and potency according to the needs of patients.
What is the aim of a Compounding Pharmacy?
The aim of an approved compounding pharmacy is to offer premium nutritional supplements and
bio identical hormone treatments for patients in the form of capsules, tablets, lotions, and creams.
These pharmacies will prepare drugs by combining different active pharmaceutical grade
constituents, as recommended by any registered and qualified healthcare practitioner, into exact
dosage and strength forms according to the individual needs of patients. Both state and federal
authorities control all compounding pharmacies.

Examples Of Mortality In The Iliad
Mortality In The Iliad: The Trancience Of Human Life And Its Creations
Mortality is the state of being subject to death, and, as we all know and can only accept, we are
all mortal, and so is our material world. Everything that has a beginning has an end. We are the
same as the men of Troy and Achaea in the sense that we re all bound to die; our glass houses
and skyscrapers now are just as subject to destruction as their ruined walls and buried cities.
Death is inevitable, just like change is. Even though sometimes, such as when one is young and
wild or when one is simply very well off and comfortable, we feel invincible and unsusceptible to
death, we are. We are impermanent and we will be forgotten that is, unless we make sure that we
live to be remembered. The Iliad begins in medias res, during the tenth year of the Trojan War, and
as a story whose plot revolves around what this war brought upon the mortals who fought in it; the
Iliad bares and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Homer s Iliad thus illustrates and emphasizes the transience of human life and the material
world, and tries to address the question of whether immortality is, indeed, attainable. Homer
seems to tell us through his poem that there is no way to escape death, and that the only way for
any mortal to be immortalized is through the memory of mankind. The physical bodies of all
mortals and their creations will fade from that memory, so what is it that man must do to gain
this kind of immortality that we ve been allowed to attain? Homer suggests that we should live
our lives as gloriously and honorably as we can, and perhaps our words and deeds will survive us.
The Iliad might as well be proof that his suggestion

Analysis Of Lean Production Delivery System
Executive summary The aim of this report is to carry out the in depth analysis of Lean
production delivery system. Firstly the history of LPDS is discussed followed by its principles,
theory, processes and tools. The differences and similarities between current project management
systems and LPDS are observed. Observations are also made on the strengths and weaknesses of
both the systems. How both the systems provide an end value to the customers is also explained.
Introduction to Lean Production Delivery System Initially the manufacturing companies around
the world focused on the output and carried out the production process where everyone worked
on a single product and then moved to the other product which was time consuming. The
manufacturing companies could not meet the demands as time taken to produce is high. Henry
Ford of the Ford car manufacturing company introduced assembly line system and mass
produced cars as the demand for cars at that point of time was high. This drastically reduced time
to produce them. He hired people and trained them to specialize in a single field. Thus different
people worked on different fields according to their specializations which improved the efficiency
and speed of production. In the early 1900 s Toyota Production System (TPS) of Japan tried to use
the same method but was not successful as the market demands were different. It then introduced
Lean production system which focuses solely in providing greater value to the customers and

Language In Rabbit Proof Fence
Rabbit Proof Fence is a movie directed by Phillip Noyce based on the novel by Doris Pilkington
Garimara. In the excerpt, The Stealing of Children, it shows the offspring of the indigenous people
being taken away from their parents as the white settlers thought they weren t being treated
properly. Events like these occurred from 1910 1970 in Australias history. Many aboriginal
children didn t want to be taken away and the fictional story, based on real events, of Rabbit Proof
Fence has been created from the point of view of those people living at this time. The director has
created many representations of Aboriginal people through the use of language features, visual
elements and the audio components.
The language features of The Stealing of Children give many representations of the indigenous
people. One of these devices is repetition. Once the aboriginals were trapped by Constable Riggs,
Maude repeatedly shouted the word, No! . While he took the children, she continued to state that
they were hers and she didn t like him taking them. Her repetitiveness gave the impression that she
didn t want to lose her kids and that she loved them. This also gave the impression that Maude had
no authority against Riggs. Another language element featured in the film is evocative vocabulary.
It was used among the shouts of the indigenous people and the police man. When the Grandmother
came to the car with a large stick, which she may have used to try and break the car windows,

Essay Learning in a Mechanistic Organization
MECHANISTIC ORGANIZATIONS
Metaphors create a method of thinking, it compares items of deferent characteristic showing
similarities but not differences, recently shadow chancellor George Osborne criticising Gordon
Brown, he said Gordon is a man with an overdraft, not a plan (Metro, October 28, 2008). Here we
can see that the word overdraft is used to describe some of the present characteristics of Gordon
Brown in relation to spending. Various metaphors have been used by different writers to show the
structure of organisations, examples include: machine, organismic and brain metaphor as used by

Fredrick Taylor, another managementtheorist invented the principle of scientific management
showing five simple management principles: 1. Shift all responsibility for the organisation of
work from the worker to the manager. Managers think, plan, and design work, while the workers
does the implementation, 2. Use scientific method to determine the most efficient way of doing
work. Design worker s task accordingly, specifying the precise way in which the work is to be
done, 3. Select the best person to perform the job thus designed, 4. Train the worker to do the
work effectively, 5. Monitor worker performance to ensure that appropriate work procedures are
followed and that appropriate results are achieved. (Morgan 1997)
McDonalds, Burger King, Greggs, and most fast food outlets are perfect examples of Taylor s
principles. Other examples include car / automobile manufacturing companies like: Honda, Toyota,
Ford, Mitsubishi, London borough of Hammersmith and Fulham, British high commission in
Nigeria, etc
Mechanistic forms of organisation have many advantages and some very serious disadvantages.
Organisations such as McDonald s DHL, Ford, FEDEX, aircraft maintenance departments, finance
offices (HM customs inland revenue) are good examples of the success of mechanistic model of
organisation. The advantages of mechanistic organisation will include the fact that It designs task to

Essay on The Awakening
The Awakening
Analytical Essay THE AWAKENING Throughout Kate Chopin s, The Awakening, numerous
scenes of birth and renewal are depicted. Various symbols placed throughout the book show Edna
Pontellier s awakenings. For instance, many references are made to oceans and water. It is in
the water that Edna has her first rebirth, but it is also the place where she chooses to die. Water
symbolizes life, which is the reason that Edna s renewal takes place there, but it also symbolizes
darkness and death. Birds, which are featured frequently in the story, symbolize Edna, and in
many cases they foreshadow what s to become of her, or they show her renewal of life. The

Birds are also major symbolic images in the story. Flight, which is associated with birds, acts as a
stand in for awakening. The ability to spread your wings and fly is a symbolic theme that occurs
often in the novel. Mademoiselle Reisz tells Edna quot;the bird that would soar above the level
plain of tradition and prejudice must have strong wings (138). She uses birds to forecast Edna s
future and evaluate Edna s strength. In order to soar like a bird, Edna must be strong, but
Mademoiselle Reisz realizes that Edna is weak. Reisz says, quot;it is a sad spectacle to see the
weaklings bruised, exhausted, fluttering back to earth quot; (138). Mademoiselle Reisz
understands that Edna is not like herself and cannot fight society. Later, when Edna realizes the
hopelessness of her situation, birds, once again, symbolically foreshadow her fate. Upon reaching
the beach on her final walk, Edna looks around and sees: quot;A bird with a broken wing was
beating the air above, reeling, fluttering, circling disabled down, down to the water quot; (189).
This bird is the final omen that reflects Mademoiselle Reisz s words: quot;it is sad to see the
weaklings bruised, exhausted, fluttering back to earth quot; (138). The bird, disabled and
weakened because of its broken wing, falls back to earth and suffers defeat. Edna soon does the

Cameron s Use Of Camera Images In Avatar
Photography and imagery has seemed to attempt to serve one main purpose: accuracy. When
people use photographs in most of today s society, it is to show factual evidence that their
arguments and story are true. Two early devices that have shaped the use of photography are the
camera obscura and the stereoscope. Both use the eyes to attempt to create accurate depictions of
the world around them, especially in trying to allow people to see the parts of the world that are
foreign to them. The stereoscope s more objective representation of the world over the camera
obscura is used in James Cameron s Avatar as representations of how civilized populations skew the

James Cameron uses the natural world and how it works as a symbol of the unknown savages
that were target of American and European imperialist conquests and other parts of the unknown,
uncivilized world. The American group of military and science believe they are getting a true
view of the indigenous people on Pandora, a totally new environment for them. While a lot of the
scientists go into the world of Pandora using the bodies of the Na vi, immersing themselves into
the world as if they were looking at it in a stereoscopic way, the human society remains in the
camera obscura way of viewing the world: misinterpreted with details missing and disconnected.
They rely on the methods of science and what they learned from history about different races to
gather a picture of what they think life on Pandora is. There is a difference between the outside
world and the inside laboratories that they observe from, creating a disconnect between the reality
and the representation. Much like the World Fairs or the colonial idea of savagery, the humans take

As stated previously, along with home and school based intervention, it needs to get even bigger
with community and government based interventions. Education is the key. By organizing
community activities, walks can be planned to encourage physical activity, paths can be made
for children to ride bikes on, and playgrounds can be established for things like basketball and
other physical activity. By coming together as a community and encouraging these things within
our children, obesity can decrease significantly over the next five to ten years. Preparing foods at
home and leaving fast food chains alone is also a major factor in preventing obesity. The fast food
industry has become a huge target in the obesity rate. Erci Schlosser s surprise best seller, Fast

The National Survey on Drug Use and Health reported that most drug users share needles that
they use to inject themselves with while using heroin. Sharing of needles by heroin users is due
to the fact that doctors and many pharmacy boards are not allowed to sell needles and syringes to
unauthorized personnel, so the only avenue left for drug users is to share the available needles
they have. This has contributed to spread of HIV aids among the heroin victims therefore
exposing them to more health dangers. Infact, 30% of global HIV infections in Sub Saharan
Africa are caused by sharing needles during drug injections, furthermore, heroin injection rose
from 2% in 1993 to 15% in 2000. Heroin users and other drug addicts have been reported to be
more exposed to unsafe sex a fact that have exposed them even more to these diseases. This
analysis shows that heroin and drug use are among the factors that are causing HIV aids to increase
in the world (Levert, 2005).
Heroin not only affects people using the drug but, the problems also affect other people close to
them too, it has an immense trickle down effect on society. The cost to the society is immense as

AO2 Drivers for continued development
Technological
Advances in technology have encouraged progression of the internet and have sometime been a
drive of development. The advert of broadband has allowed communications to be faster, which has
facilitated the transfer of larger file such as sound and video. This ability marked the beginning of
the modern era of sites such as YouTube and iTunes. When looking at the technical side, the internet
is developing rapidly. The reason for this would be that the technology today. Such as windows 8,
this has appeared on msn advertisements, which shows us a sneak peak of what is different about
it from the previous windows 7. Because the internet has new ideas that are getting more and more

Therefore, the internet has a long way to go before meeting the standards. Many years ago, the
political process was not used within the internet. It has been said that the General Election
would become a success if the internet could hold the answer to solve its problems. However,
this does have its disadvantage because the internet could maybe cause political standards to
collapse. Also to the point that Stuart MacLennan was fired from being a Labour Candidate
because of unpleasant posts, he made on social network site Twitter. However, it had been said
that these sort of problems needed to be dealt with when it comes to the web, because they can
come back to bite you .
Due to the internet growing and increasing more and more by the minute, those political
organizations have tried to deal with it by getting people online to listen; this is because of the
changes that are happening within different communication over the internet. Even through social
network sites like twitter, Facebook had helped Barack Obama to gain more assistance and

getting more votes. However, is a disadvantage because when it came to Labour Mr MacLennan s
remarks over the network site Twitter and that this had been the case that had been explained by
well acknowledged people that things within the internet could be easily retrieved once deleted. In

The Tempest Analysis
The Tempest aims to be a catalyst for the audience to understand the power of knowledge and
understanding. The play does this in many ways, but it most clearly seen when analyzing character
relationship and employed language. To examine this, it is best to look at two key passages:
Prospero s introduction to the island and the epilogue. The play opens with a tempest, and in the
next scene the audience is introduced to Prospero: who at this point is revealed to be the
orchestrator of such storm. Immediately the viewer can sense his power, and no quicker do
they find out the source of this power: knowledge. Prospero proclaims while explaining how
Miranda and he came to the island, I thus neglecting worldly ends, and all dedicated / To
closeness and the bettering of my mind (1.2.89 90). Prospero explicitly informs his daughter,
Miranda, that while he was Duke of Milan he was far more dedicated to knowledge than he was
being a ruler. Shortly after this, Prospero uses these key lines:
Knowing I loved my books, he furnished me
From mine own library with volumes that
I prize above my Dukedom. (1.2.166 168)
Again, this section is Prospero showcasing that he loved knowledge more than he loved being a
part of the ruling class. The importance of this is that Prospero is giving the audience insight into
how he gains his power, but what is this power used to do: to control the actions that are shaping
history. Winners write history is a phrase commonly heard in the twenty first

Symbols In A Rose For Emily
The literary works in the short story ВЁA Rose For EmilyВЁ by American Author William
Faulkner is an influential work because of the symbols, motifs, and theme that are expressed
throughout the story, which are based upon love and relationships. Faulkner portrays the story in
third person limited which allows us to know the thoughts and feelings of a single charcter. The
narrator is never identified throughout the story, but when we examine the tone we can understand
there is this we person, who changes his/her mind about Miss Emily at certain points in the
narration. A symbol is something used for or regarded as representing something else. One instance
of symbolism in this short storyis in the title itself. The rose is a symbol of love in which case
Homer is the rose or love for Emily. Emily s father wanted the best for her, so he thought that no
one was good enough. When her father passed away she met Homer and fell head over heels in

One motif that we see throughout the story is intense gazing of Emily by the narrator and the
townspeople of Jefferson. People are always watching . A paragraph in the story states She will
marry him. Then we said, She will persuade him yet, because Homer himself had remarked he
liked men, and it was known that he drank with the younger men in the Elks Club that he was
not a marrying man. Later we said, Poor Emily behind the jalousies as they passed on Sunday
afternoon in the glittering buggy, Miss Emily with her head high and Homer Barron with his hat
cocked and a cigar in his teeth, reins and whip in a yellow glove. (Rose) The townspeople always
watched Emily because she was such a mystery. They saw that Emily loved Homer but it didn t
seem like the feelings were mutual. It seems as if the people wanted to step in on their relationship,
but Miss Emily wasn t going to have that

Role of Digital Media in Anticipatory Shipping:

this digital world major part of advertisement budget is allocated to the digital media advertising.
One may think this is the maximum extent to which a company can go to improve its market
presence. But Amazon is undoubtedly way ahead in utilizing digital media for their research. A
quintessential to that is the current idea of Anticipatory Shipping. Even though there are some

Analysis Of The Road Not Taken
The Road Not Taken is one of the simplest poems written by Robert Frost. It has 4 stanzas, with 5
lines each. The poem presents a crossroads at which the author finds himself. He concludes that
both roads are the same, with the same amount of fallen and untouched leaves. He, however,
chooses one because it seems better to him. He then proceeds on this path, telling himself he
might one day come back to the other. The reality is the opposite, unfortunately. He never does.
The most attractive feature of this poem is the fact that it is relatable to everyone. It represents a
conundrum of choice that is present in every stage of an individual s life. The poem is filled
with a lot of depth and underlying meaning while at the same time having the right form and
composition. The Road Not Taken is constantly misconstrued. Many read it and misinterpret the
words and general meaning of the poem. This literary work is about what one does with their
life, how hard a decision is, and how important it is in determining success and happiness. The
poet acknowledges that the different paths are actually similar, as described in the first line of
the second stanza where the author states that they are just as fair (Frost 6), which mirrors real
life where people assume the grass is always greener. Frost further alludes to this idea by stating
in the first line of the third stanza, both that morning equally lay (Frost 11). He acknowledges
that he might never come back again to the first path even though he hopes to. In the fifth line of
the fourth stanza, Frost admits that though he might want to come back to the path one day, he
knows he never will. He goes on to declare that he shall be saying it with a sigh (Frost 16).
Interestingly, he ends the short poem by stating that he took the road less traveled by and it made
all the difference (Frost 19 20). Consequently, this conclusion creates confusion in the mind of
the reader. Was the road less traveled, or were the two roads the same? It seems that at different
points of his life, the author realizes different aspects of the two roads. The Road Not Taken is the
title of the poem. The subject gives the road used significance as opposed to the one Frost did not

point of view that Berenson has in this book is that the market should be more heavily regulated,
that regulatory agencies should crack down harder on accountants, and that prosecuting and jailing

that it will always be an ongoing battle. The world is in constant change people, politicians,

The Meaning Of Art
For many individuals collecting and viewing art might be thought of as a favorite hobby or past
time. Individuals might be seen at a local art museum just gazing at a piece of art, exhibiting
almost signs of being in a trance of deep thought as one stands front and center, not moving for
what seems to be an endless amount of time. The reason for such an appreciation for art, might
be what it represents. Lisa Marder writes, Art can be thought of as a symbol of what it means to
be human, manifested in physical form for others to see and interpret. It can serve as a symbol for
something that is tangible, or for a thought, an emotion, a feeling, or a concept. Through peaceful
means, it can convey the full spectrum of the human experience. (Marder, 2017, para. 28).
Meaning, art really has the ability to express many things and perspectives, which can also be
represented in various shapes, sizes, and forms such as, drawings, sculptures, paintings, etc. With
that being said, art is not only about the message that is being conveyed, but also a significance
placed upon how the message is conveyed. There is a lot of thought and precision that goes into
creating such art, that will enhance the message being conveyed; form and composition, material
and technique, the lines, color, and texture, space and perspective, and proportion and scale. It is
that same thought and precision that went into the 1941 creation of John Steuart Curry s, Our

John Harwood Hick (1922 2012)
BIBLIOGRAPHY
John Harwood Hick was born on 20th January, 1922 to Aileen Hick and Mark Hick in
Scarborough, England. Hick s ancestors were owners of successful shipping firm. However, his
grandfather abandoned the shipping business to become an attorney. John Hick was arguably
among the most influential and important philosophers of religion of the 2nd half of the 20th
century. It is worth noting that as a British Philosophical thinker in the Anglo analytic tradition,
John Hick did ground breaking work in philosophical theology, religious pluralism and religious
epistemology (Hick and Sharma 89).
As a young student of law, John Hick went through a strong religious experience which led him to
accept the evangelical Christianity and to alter the direction of his career to philosophy and
theology. At the beginning of his career, john Hick argued that the Christian faith is mainly based
on religious experience rather than propositional evidence. Therefore, he defended Christianity faith
against criticisms by evidentialist, who were by then dominant logical positivists ( Professor John
Hick Telegraph ). The most influential works by John Hick include: Evil and the Godof Love; A
Christian Theology of Religions; An Interpretation of Religion; and many others

The Divine Comedy By Dante Aleghiri
Dante Aleghiri s Divine Comedy is widely taught and written about. In it Dante, the author,
details his trip through Hell, Purgatory, and then Paradise. The Divine Comedy was written during
Dante s exile from his beloved city of Florence Italy. The work itself is read at various different
levels. One could read it as a theological work, a political work, simply as a poetic work, or even as
a philosophical work. In his work, Dante s Paradiso: No Human Beings Allowed philosophy
professor Bruce Silver argues that, Dante is not a philosopher, instead he just deals with
philosophical issues, including the relation between reasoning well and happiness. Dr. Jason
Aleksander, the philosophy department chair at Saint Xavier s University, would disagree, stating,
In short, for Dante, wisdom, the body of philosophy, results from the proper ordering of earthly
desires or, in other words, from the order among the moral virtues. Aleksander sees Dante as a
philosopher tackling philosophical issues and because he takes that stance he interprets Dante
differently than Silver does. Though both see Dante s work as philosophical they take differing
stances on certain points and actually tackle the work in two different ways. Silver makes concise
arguments towards Dante trying to deal with the balance between reason and faith. He specifically
talks about, the relation between reasoning well and happiness. Silver uses several different

Analysis Of The Secret Lives Of Sgt. John Wilson
Glory and Scandal , or in other words, Mary and John, two characters from the novel The Secret
Lives of Sgt. John Wilson who fall in love but eventually end their relationship on a tragic note.
Many events occurred through out the novel that caught my interest such as; the way they fell
madly in love, the transition into John becoming more of a ghost than a husband, then a more
twisted unforeseen plot that caught most readers entirely by surprise. The love affairs between the
characters in the novel, plus the twists and turns you experience while reading is the main
contributor as to why I love this book. Two polar opposites who started a life together, followed by
scandal and deceit, then ended in a most unspeakable way.
Mary Hutchinson was by far the most glorious and loving person through out the novel, and
loved by all that knew her, We all loved one another but somehow every one of us had a special
work with Polly. She was so bright and cheery and brave (Pg.7). She was a young seamstress
who lived a simple life, making an honest living and was very close to her loving family. She had
been pursued by her co worker the young Jack Wilson, who fall in love with her (or so she
thought), but it was normal for people to be attracted to her beautiful nature. After years of courting
they had finally gotten married and had children of their own, although the second would not be
born until the father I say vaguely had left the country. This once highly sought after woman would
now be left to care for two young children while her husband moved countries to find work (not to
mention flee embarrassment). This was the moment that would change her life for the worst, only
she hadn t known it yet.
Jack Wilson, a name that once had meaning, but is now said with resentment, he had every
opportunity to face his issues and make things right like any man should, especially whilst
having a child and another on the way, even the idea of leaving caused some unhappy feedback
Did you know he s thinking of running off to Canada? I d say good riddance if it wasn t for the
bairn and the one on the way. (Pg.10). A lot of men take the high rout in good faith that things will
change, but not Jack. Jack Wilson; like a dog with

Grant Wood Essay
Grant Wood
I recently took a trip to the Jocelyn Art Museum. There they had many great painting in the
permanent art collection. One that caught my eye, which I had seen many times before, but never
knew any thing about, was a painting called Stone City, Iowa , which was created by Grant Woodin
1930. This painting is oil on wood panel and is
30 Вј X 40 inches.
Grant Wood is a famous philosopher who was born in February in the year 1891 in Anamosa,
Iowa. Wood was born to Quaker parents on a small farm. This experience would be the basis of
his iconic images of small town plain folk and verdant Midwestern vistas. He later moved to
Cedar Rapids after the death of his father in 1901. He first studied at the Minneapolis ... Show more

What they shared, among themselves and among other American Scene painters, was a humble,
antimodernist style and a fondness for depicting everyday life. However, their rural conservatism
put them at odds with the urban and leftist Social Realists of the same era.
The three best known regionalists were Thomas Hart Benton, John Steuart Curry, and Grant Wood.
With Thomas Hart Benton and John Steuart Curry, who died prematurely in 1946, Wood
represented the painters of The American Scene also known as the school of Regional American
Landscape. These artists represented rural life in the U.S in the tradition of European masters.
They enjoyed success in 1930 during the Great Depression when the public found some
intellectual and moral comfort during troubled times. Wood was trying to induce the birth of a
true American national art. He even wrote a manifesto, Revolt against the City in 1935 calling for
a renaissance of American art which he found too dependent on European art, especially French art
notably in the field of abstract painting. He wanted to regroup regional schools in order to develop
a new form of realistic painting.
Success came late for Wood who spent his life in his native Iowa where he found his inspiration
and subjects. At the start of his career he was influenced by the Arts and Crafts movement and then
painted in a manner that could be compared to those of John Sloan, Edward Hopper, Edouard
Vuillard or

The cross sectional study designs
My research is concerned about errors in Thai English translation and I want to know what are the
mistakes could be found in the translation. Therefore, I aim to ask the people who involved in my
population to do a test. Then I will analyze what are the mistakes in the translation from the test.
From the process I ve mentioned above, I believe that cross sectional design is the most appropriate
design of my research.
According to the number of contacts, I need only one time in order to contact the population of the
research because the objective I ve set doesn t need to find out about the difference or change
between before and after. Furthermore, my research doesn t need to do the comparison.

However, it also has a big disadvantage because it s a set of sentences, and these sentences will be

research. Therefore, I have to conduct my test strictly. Furthermore, the participants of the test have
a right to not answer. They might leave it blank. These problems can disturbs the accuracy of the
result. By the way, I am planning to use the sentences that appear on their book in order to enhance

EU-Canada Comprehensive Economic And Trade Agreement Case...
On September 6, Belgium officially submitted its request to the Court of Justice of the European
Union ( CJEU ) for an opinion about the compatibility of the Investment Court System ( ICS )
with EU law. This request result of a Belgian internal political compromise intended to lift Wallonia
s veto on the conclusion of the EU Canada Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement
(CETA) seeks clarification and asks the CJEU to shed light on the reformed system of dispute
settlement between States and investors. Needless to say, this opinion together with the Opinion 2
/15 issued last May by the CJEU will constitute a landmark decision for the future shaping of the
EU trade and investment policy.

This system establishes a permanent judicial structure composed of two courts a Tribunal of First
Instance and an Appeal Tribunal. The members of these tribunals are appointed by representatives
of the Parties to the Treaty and must fulfill ethical requirements set up in the agreement. Therefore,
this permanent system marks a turning point and demonstrates the European Commission s will to
increase the legitimacy of the investment dispute settlement (even though, in our view, the system
is still not totally exempt of shortcomings due to the involvement of political powers in the
appointment process).
(1)Autonomy of the EU legal order and consequences on the investment dispute settlement
The EU s legal order is traditionally seen as autonomous. The CJEU already established this
doctrine in early 60 s in the landmark case, Costa v. Enel. This principle is simple: the EU has its
own order, distinctive from national and international legal systems, with essential characteristics
that domestic law, international law and therefore international agreements cannot alter. Among
these characteristics figure the peculiar architecture of the EU legal system: the Treaties grant to
the CJEU an exclusive judicial prerogative over the interpretation of EU law.
To note, the CJEU took precisely into account, among others, this argument to reject the EU s
adhesion to the European

How Alcatraz Affected US Prison
When you think of Alcatraz do you think of a creepy prison with only the worst prisoners? But
Alcatraz wasn t really like that, in fact a lot of prisoners wanted to be transferred to Alcatraz
because of the benefits. But how has Alcatraz affected other U.S. prisons?
In 1850 Alcatraz was made to be a military fort and was the first West coast lighthouse. They
started keeping war prisoners there from the civil war. Then in 1909 they tore the fort down and
made it into the most high security prison in the state. It closed March 21, 1963 because it cost to
much to maintain. Why did they make it though and who made it a prison? In 1847 Millard
Fillmore made it for military use to guard the San Francisco bay. Even though it was native

The Chrysler Building Essay
Today technology allows us to construct structures that we would never have been able to make in
the past. Some of the creations are impressive based on what they accomplish but others are
masterpieces in themselves. Man s capability to build such tall buildings, as the skyscrapers we are
familiar with covering our cities today, is a major expression of the advancements we have made as
a culture. The power necessary to build such tall structures inspired competition between architects
to see who could build the tallest one. One skyscraper that has inspired many and served as a
model, for high rise buildingsthat were created after, is the Chrysler Building. The Chrysler
Building serves as an identifying mark to anyone that... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although these problems were corrected and the idea of building a skyscraper became a feasible
task, there were many conditions that had to be taken into account, that did not need consideration
when building a structure less than 40 stories tall. Four story buildings are supported by their own
walls; however a new method needed to be created for skyscrapers since the previous building
method would not provide enough support. Metal skeletal frames made of columns and beams
were then developed to provide the support and strength needed for the skyscrapers. As the
buildings grew taller, their structural design was made lighter and stiffer. Also, as the buildings
grew taller, wind became an important issue. Normally, the force that acts on the skyscraper pushes
directly downward towards the ground that would then counter balance that push. However, when
an additional force acts on it, such as wind, the forces would act differently on the skyscraper. With
a lateral force acting on the building, the steel columns of the frame on the windy side would
stretch apart slightly while the columns on the other side would compress. Therefore, the skeletal
frame built had to be made so that the structure would be free to move slightly with the wind and, at
the same time, remain sturdy.
The initial plan for this particular skyscraper built on

Essay On Health Care Fraud
Health care fraud comes from many aspects. Fraud comes from some type of abuse to the
system. Such abuse can come from billers, providers and or patients. Abuse of the system can
turn into fraud. Because the fraud can come from many angles, it makes it really difficult for
regulatory agencies to detect and protect against abuse and fraud. However, many changes to the
system and the collaboration of regulations by many agencies have made a difference. Health
care fraud is a crime that over time has had a significant impact on public and private health care
payment system (Kongstvedt, 2013). Making a difference for this topic can have a significant
impact on health care in general. Health care fraud takes a lot of means from the system,
therefore affecting its goals. Not only does it distract the system from its objective, it also affects
the financial status of the government. It takes a lot of effort to control fraud, economic effort that
can otherwise be use in other struggles. Because this industry is one that grows with popularity, it
is very difficult for only one organization to control or manage abuse or fraud. Popularity in this
field brings great financial gains by those who choose to cheat or abuse the system. Above all, one
must continue to make efforts to fight back and to control the losses caused by fraud. In order to
continue these efforts, one must first understand how much is lost by these criminal acts.
Therefore, this paper will focus on one

Ben And The Half-Polar Bear Empire
Ben oversaw his great polar bear empire as the bears slaved for him. Their kingdom was vast, and
their race was great. The white, ferocious beasts roamed the land on their oversized paws of power.
Nothing could even consider standing in their way, all 5,000 of them. The food chain was theirs,
and instead of humans huntingthem the bears were hunting them. The homeland of the bears was in
the heart of Greenland, an island that used to be inhabited by humans, until the bears eradicated
their existence. This is the story of Ben and his mighty polar bear empire. Ben was a formidable
opponent, and nothing could reckon with Ben s half human half polar bear nature. It was a deadly

verses that he was asked to read was Proverbs 24:21 22 My son, fear the Lord and the King, and

The Use Of English As A Lingua Franca
A lingua franca refers to the language that is used to facilitate common language between people
who may be having different start languages. English can be seen as a Lingua Franca of the
modern society that has been extensively used in the areas such as the internet, Business and also
other forms of international interaction (Dearden, 2014). In the past decades or perhaps centuries,
the use of Latin and Greek as a lingua francawas evident as it was used by many scholars to
facilitate their works. The use of the English as a lingua franca starts when Britain is colonizing
most of their colonies such as French, Spain, and Portuguese. Several factors facilitate the
distribution of English, and finally, it becomes a Lingua Franca.
Two main factors led to English to become the Lingua Franca and become of the languages that are
widely used currently. These are the internal and external qualities that the language possesses.
1)Internal quality
a)Structure and lexicon
The structure, as well as the lexicon of the language, is very imperative to any language. The
simplicity of the language is vital because, the simpler the language, the more the other individuals
from other languages finds it easy to study and learn English. In comparison to Latin, English is
very simpler to understand and learn. The language does not have much of the features that are
found in the other languages such as the dative, feminine or masculine features of the language;
they make language to be

  • 2. The Economic Growth of Japan Japan may have restored sovereignty to the Emperor and updated its Feudal government to a modern system, but its economy could not reach its potential unless Japan compensated for its need of resources such as oil, rubber, and metals (Columbia University). The Empire of Japan, as it was called from the Meiji Restoration until post World War Two invaded a series of countries from the late 1800 s to the 1940 s. These include the Sino Japanese War (1895), Russo Japanese War (1905) both over Korean domination, Manchuria (1931), China (1937), and French Indochina (1940) (Columbia University). The government was still militaristic and expansion for economic gain was the direction Japan chose (Japan Guide). This is seen through the risks Japan took to get the benefits of the invasions, such as Korea and its raw materials, and the supplies of Manchuria, China, and French Indochina. Lastly, Japan wanted to go after British and Dutch colonies to help secure their defense. The only thing standing in the way of taking these territories was the American Navy (Columbia University). Now Japan has to gamble. However, Japan has won wars against both Russia and China from a few decades before. Not only has Japan gained what they wanted from them, but they have established themselves as a power and gained respect (Japan Guide). With a great sense of Nationalism and militarism, Japan has convinced people that loyalty to the country and the ways of Bushido, the old Samurai creed, will bring them ... • 4. Tuesdays In The Tower Book Report Many young children dream of living in a castle. A castle is a key part of many fairy tales, whether they have a princess locked up in a tower, a terrible dragon inside which must be defeated, or the castle is the home where a royal family resides. In Wednesdays in the Tower, by Jessica Day George, the royal familyindeed lives in a castle. They do not live in just any castle; their castle is for lack of a better word; alive. The book, Wednesdays in the Tower, is another book that fits into several genres. It is traditional literature. The story incorporates folkloric elements; it is a story meant to entertain. It shares in the folktale criteria of being a beast tale, a main character in this book is Rufus; a griffin which Celie, one of the princesses in the story hatched from an egg the castle gave her. Rufus has most of his animal characteristics but he is decidedly opinionated much like a human would be. Marriott is a leading hospitality company with revenues of nearly $13 billion a year, a fortune 500 company, and over 4,000 properties in 78 countries. They have a majority of their properties in the United States and Europe, but also have properties in Africa, Asia, Australia, Canada, Caribbean, Central America, Mexico, Middle East, and South America. I will discuss this company s strategic plan, policies and procedures, vision, and more. First off, it all began with a root beer stand. John and Alice Marriott decided to open a root beer stand in Washington, D.C. in the summer of 1927. After this was such a success, they decided to expand and open restaurants in 1953. Then, in 1957 they opened their first motel in Arlington, VA. Eventually, their son Bill Marriott took over the family business and made the company one of the world s leading hospitality companies. The Marriott offers a variety of services to their customers. They have certain rewards programs to save you money, complimentary breakfast at some of the hotels, great customer service. They also book events, like social events, wedding receptions, meetings, etc. The Marriott says they do not have a mission statement. They said they have a vision statement instead, which is to be the #1 hospitality company in the world. They value putting people first, pursuing excellence, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Essay on Romance de la Luna, Luna Federico Garcia Lorca s Romance de La Luna, Luna is a Spanish poem that tells the story of a young gypsy boy and the moon. His love and infatuation with the moon leads to his death. This poem not only tells the story of this young child s demise, but also shows the effects when someone is lured in by an appealing temptation. The poem uses many literary devices to enhance the meaning the words provide. The poem starts at the beginning of the story as the mooncomes to visit the forge. The moon is said to be wearing her skirt of white, fragrant flowers (Lorca 2) as its bright light penetrates the scene. The poem states the young boywatches her, watches. / The young boy is watching her (3 4). The repetition of the phrase emphasizes... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The moon has now become ominous as it forewarns of the child s death. Spanish culture is once again brought into the poem as the moon becomes deathly. The moon has always been a figure of death in Spanish history and continues to be represented in that matter by this poem. The moon s sensual appeal balances its foreboding nature. The boy is enticed by the mystery of the moon and does not heed her warning. Once again the boy warns the moon, flee, moon, moon, moon (17), as he shows his continued persistence to save the moon he has been draw into. He warns that the gypsies are coming, but the moon will not leave its dance. The moon says, young boy, leave me, don t step on / my starched whiteness (19 20). This shows her lack of concern for the boy, which exemplifies her task to only attract him to her. Her starched whiteness once again contradicts her true mission to lead him to his demise. Beating the drum of the plain (22) stresses the intensity of the moment leading up to the point that within the forge the young man has closed eyes (23). The climax of the story has just occurred, as the child death has taken place. The Spanish belief that the moon is a bad omen has remained true with the little boy s eyes closed, signifying his death. The gypsies return and the diction used to describe them emphasizes their mystery and flow. How the night bird sings (29) implies the bird is singing a song to mourn the death of the child. It then says across the sky moves ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 11. Examples Of Mortality In The Iliad Mortality In The Iliad: The Trancience Of Human Life And Its Creations Mortality is the state of being subject to death, and, as we all know and can only accept, we are all mortal, and so is our material world. Everything that has a beginning has an end. We are the same as the men of Troy and Achaea in the sense that we re all bound to die; our glass houses and skyscrapers now are just as subject to destruction as their ruined walls and buried cities. Death is inevitable, just like change is. Even though sometimes, such as when one is young and wild or when one is simply very well off and comfortable, we feel invincible and unsusceptible to death, we are. We are impermanent and we will be forgotten that is, unless we make sure that we live to be remembered. The physical bodies of all mortals and their creations will fade from that memory, so what is it that man must do to gain this kind of immortality that we ve been allowed to attain? Homer suggests that we should live our lives as gloriously and honorably as we can, and perhaps our words and deeds will survive us. The Iliad might as well be proof that his suggestion ... • 12. Analysis Of Lean Production Delivery System Executive summary The aim of this report is to carry out the in depth analysis of Lean production delivery system. Firstly the history of LPDS is discussed followed by its principles, theory, processes and tools. The differences and similarities between current project management systems and LPDS are observed. Observations are also made on the strengths and weaknesses of both the systems. How both the systems provide an end value to the customers is also explained. Introduction to Lean Production Delivery System Initially the manufacturing companies around the world focused on the output and carried out the production process where everyone worked on a single product and then moved to the other product which was time consuming. The manufacturing companies could not meet the demands as time taken to produce is high. Henry Ford of the Ford car manufacturing company introduced assembly line system and mass produced cars as the demand for cars at that point of time was high. This drastically reduced time to produce them. He hired people and trained them to specialize in a single field. Thus different people worked on different fields according to their specializations which improved the efficiency and speed of production. In the early 1900 s Toyota Production System (TPS) of Japan tried to use the same method but was not successful as the market demands were different. It then introduced Lean production system which focuses solely in providing greater value to the customers and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 13. Language In Rabbit Proof Fence Rabbit Proof Fence is a movie directed by Phillip Noyce based on the novel by Doris Pilkington Garimara. In the excerpt, The Stealing of Children, it shows the offspring of the indigenous people being taken away from their parents as the white settlers thought they weren t being treated properly. Events like these occurred from 1910 1970 in Australias history. Many aboriginal children didn t want to be taken away and the fictional story, based on real events, of Rabbit Proof Fence has been created from the point of view of those people living at this time. The director has created many representations of Aboriginal people through the use of language features, visual elements and the audio components. The language features of The Stealing of Children give many representations of the indigenous people. One of these devices is repetition. Once the aboriginals were trapped by Constable Riggs, Maude repeatedly shouted the word, No! . While he took the children, she continued to state that they were hers and she didn t like him taking them. Her repetitiveness gave the impression that she didn t want to lose her kids and that she loved them. This also gave the impression that Maude had no authority against Riggs. Another language element featured in the film is evocative vocabulary. It was used among the shouts of the indigenous people and the police man. When people use photographs in most of today s society, it is to show factual evidence that their arguments and story are true. Both use the eyes to attempt to create accurate depictions of the world around them, especially in trying to allow people to see the parts of the world that are foreign to them. Erci Schlosser s surprise best seller, Fast Food Nation, featured some familiar demonization arguments: A cynical industry targets children, reshapes their eating habits (it is hugely profitable to increase the size and the fat content of their portions ), and literally spongers an epidemic ( no other nation in history has gotten so far so fast ) (Kersh Morone, ... Sharing of needles by heroin users is due to the fact that doctors and many pharmacy boards are not allowed to sell needles and syringes to unauthorized personnel, so the only avenue left for drug users is to share the available needles they have. This has contributed to spread of HIV aids among the heroin victims therefore exposing them to more health dangers. Infact, 30% of global HIV infections in Sub Saharan Africa are caused by sharing needles during drug injections, furthermore, heroin injection rose from 2% in 1993 to 15% in 2000. Heroin users and other drug addicts have been reported to be more exposed to unsafe sex a fact that have exposed them even more to these diseases. This analysis shows that heroin and drug use are among the factors that are causing HIV aids to increase in the world (Levert, 2005). Heroin not only affects people using the drug but, the problems also affect other people close to them too, it has an immense trickle down effect on society. The play does this in many ways, but it most clearly seen when analyzing character relationship and employed language. To examine this, it is best to look at two key passages: Prospero s introduction to the island and the epilogue. The play opens with a tempest, and in the next scene the audience is introduced to Prospero: who at this point is revealed to be the orchestrator of such storm. Immediately the viewer can sense his power, and no quicker do they find out the source of this power: knowledge. Prospero proclaims while explaining how Miranda and he came to the island, I thus neglecting worldly ends, and all dedicated / To closeness and the bettering of my mind (1.2.89 90). Prospero explicitly informs his daughter, Miranda, that while he was Duke of Milan he was far more dedicated to knowledge than he was being a ruler. Shortly after this, Prospero uses these key lines: Knowing I loved my books, he furnished me From mine own library with volumes that I prize above my Dukedom. (1.2.166 168) Again, this section is Prospero showcasing that he loved knowledge more than he loved being a part of the ruling class. • 33. Analysis Of The Road Not Taken The Road Not Taken is one of the simplest poems written by Robert Frost. It has 4 stanzas, with 5 lines each. The poem presents a crossroads at which the author finds himself. He concludes that both roads are the same, with the same amount of fallen and untouched leaves. He, however, chooses one because it seems better to him. He then proceeds on this path, telling himself he might one day come back to the other. The reality is the opposite, unfortunately. He never does. The most attractive feature of this poem is the fact that it is relatable to everyone. It represents a conundrum of choice that is present in every stage of an individual s life. The poem is filled with a lot of depth and underlying meaning while at the same time having the right form and composition. The Road Not Taken is constantly misconstrued. Many read it and misinterpret the words and general meaning of the poem. This literary work is about what one does with their life, how hard a decision is, and how important it is in determining success and happiness. The poet acknowledges that the different paths are actually similar, as described in the first line of the second stanza where the author states that they are just as fair (Frost 6), which mirrors real life where people assume the grass is always greener. Frost further alludes to this idea by stating in the first line of the third stanza, both that morning equally lay (Frost 11). He acknowledges that he might never come back again to the first path even though he hopes to. In the fifth line of the fourth stanza, Frost admits that though he might want to come back to the path one day, he knows he never will. He goes on to declare that he shall be saying it with a sigh (Frost 16). Interestingly, he ends the short poem by stating that he took the road less traveled by and it made all the difference (Frost 19 20). Consequently, this conclusion creates confusion in the mind of the reader. Was the road less traveled, or were the two roads the same? It seems that at different points of his life, the author realizes different aspects of the two roads. The Road Not Taken is the title of the poem. Individuals might be seen at a local art museum just gazing at a piece of art, exhibiting almost signs of being in a trance of deep thought as one stands front and center, not moving for what seems to be an endless amount of time. The reason for such an appreciation for art, might be what it represents. Lisa Marder writes, Art can be thought of as a symbol of what it means to be human, manifested in physical form for others to see and interpret. It can serve as a symbol for something that is tangible, or for a thought, an emotion, a feeling, or a concept. Through peaceful means, it can convey the full spectrum of the human experience. (Marder, 2017, para. 28). Meaning, art really has the ability to express many things and perspectives, which can also be represented in various shapes, sizes, and forms such as, drawings, sculptures, paintings, etc. With that being said, art is not only about the message that is being conveyed, but also a significance placed upon how the message is conveyed. There is a lot of thought and precision that goes into creating such art, that will enhance the message being conveyed; form and composition, material and technique, the lines, color, and texture, space and perspective, and proportion and scale. • 40. The Divine Comedy By Dante Aleghiri Dante Aleghiri s Divine Comedy is widely taught and written about. In it Dante, the author, details his trip through Hell, Purgatory, and then Paradise. The Divine Comedy was written during Dante s exile from his beloved city of Florence Italy. The work itself is read at various different levels. One could read it as a theological work, a political work, simply as a poetic work, or even as a philosophical work. In his work, Dante s Paradiso: No Human Beings Allowed philosophy professor Bruce Silver argues that, Dante is not a philosopher, instead he just deals with philosophical issues, including the relation between reasoning well and happiness. Dr. Jason Aleksander, the philosophy department chair at Saint Xavier s University, would disagree, stating, In short, for Dante, wisdom, the body of philosophy, results from the proper ordering of earthly desires or, in other words, from the order among the moral virtues. Aleksander sees Dante as a philosopher tackling philosophical issues and because he takes that stance he interprets Dante differently than Silver does. Though both see Dante s work as philosophical they take differing stances on certain points and actually tackle the work in two different ways. Silver makes concise arguments towards Dante trying to deal with the balance between reason and faith. He specifically talks about, the relation between reasoning well and happiness. Silver uses several different philosophers to prove his point, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 42. Analysis Of The Secret Lives Of Sgt. John Wilson Glory and Scandal , or in other words, Mary and John, two characters from the novel The Secret Lives of Sgt. John Wilson who fall in love but eventually end their relationship on a tragic note. Many events occurred through out the novel that caught my interest such as; the way they fell madly in love, the transition into John becoming more of a ghost than a husband, then a more twisted unforeseen plot that caught most readers entirely by surprise. The love affairs between the characters in the novel, plus the twists and turns you experience while reading is the main contributor as to why I love this book. Two polar opposites who started a life together, followed by scandal and deceit, then ended in a most unspeakable way. Mary Hutchinson was by far the most glorious and loving person through out the novel, and loved by all that knew her, We all loved one another but somehow every one of us had a special work with Polly. She was so bright and cheery and brave (Pg.7). She was a young seamstress who lived a simple life, making an honest living and was very close to her loving family. She had been pursued by her co worker the young Jack Wilson, who fall in love with her (or so she thought), but it was normal for people to be attracted to her beautiful nature. After years of courting they had finally gotten married and had children of their own, although the second would not be born until the father I say vaguely had left the country. This once highly sought after woman would now be left to care for two young children while her husband moved countries to find work (not to mention flee embarrassment). This was the moment that would change her life for the worst, only she hadn t known it yet. Jack Wilson, a name that once had meaning, but is now said with resentment, he had every opportunity to face his issues and make things right like any man should, especially whilst having a child and another on the way, even the idea of leaving caused some unhappy feedback Did you know he s thinking of running off to Canada? I d say good riddance if it wasn t for the bairn and the one on the way. (Pg.10). A lot of men take the high rout in good faith that things will change, but not Jack. Jack Wilson; like a dog with ... What they shared, among themselves and among other American Scene painters, was a humble, antimodernist style and a fondness for depicting everyday life. However, their rural conservatism put them at odds with the urban and leftist Social Realists of the same era. The three best known regionalists were Thomas Hart Benton, John Steuart Curry, and Grant Wood. With Thomas Hart Benton and John Steuart Curry, who died prematurely in 1946, Wood represented the painters of The American Scene also known as the school of Regional American Landscape. These artists represented rural life in the U.S in the tradition of European masters. They enjoyed success in 1930 during the Great Depression when the public found some intellectual and moral comfort during troubled times. Wood was trying to induce the birth of a true American national art. He even wrote a manifesto, Revolt against the City in 1935 calling for a renaissance of American art which he found too dependent on European art, especially French art notably in the field of abstract painting. He wanted to regroup regional schools in order to develop a new form of realistic painting. Success came late for Wood who spent his life in his native Iowa where he found his inspiration and subjects. (1)Autonomy of the EU legal order and consequences on the investment dispute settlement The EU s legal order is traditionally seen as autonomous. The CJEU already established this doctrine in early 60 s in the landmark case, Costa v. Enel. This principle is simple: the EU has its own order, distinctive from national and international legal systems, with essential characteristics that domestic law, international law and therefore international agreements cannot alter. Among these characteristics figure the peculiar architecture of the EU legal system: the Treaties grant to the CJEU an exclusive judicial prerogative over the interpretation of EU law. Some of the creations are impressive based on what they accomplish but others are masterpieces in themselves. Man s capability to build such tall buildings, as the skyscrapers we are familiar with covering our cities today, is a major expression of the advancements we have made as a culture. The power necessary to build such tall structures inspired competition between architects to see who could build the tallest one. One skyscraper that has inspired many and served as a model, for high rise buildingsthat were created after, is the Chrysler Building. Although these problems were corrected and the idea of building a skyscraper became a feasible task, there were many conditions that had to be taken into account, that did not need consideration when building a structure less than 40 stories tall. Four story buildings are supported by their own walls; however a new method needed to be created for skyscrapers since the previous building method would not provide enough support. Metal skeletal frames made of columns and beams were then developed to provide the support and strength needed for the skyscrapers. As the buildings grew taller, their structural design was made lighter and stiffer. Also, as the buildings grew taller, wind became an important issue. Normally, the force that acts on the skyscraper pushes directly downward towards the ground that would then counter balance that push. However, when an additional force acts on it, such as wind, the forces would act differently on the skyscraper. With a lateral force acting on the building, the steel columns of the frame on the windy side would stretch apart slightly while the columns on the other side would compress. Therefore, the skeletal frame built had to be made so that the structure would be free to move slightly with the wind and, at the same time, remain sturdy. Abuse of the system can turn into fraud. Because the fraud can come from many angles, it makes it really difficult for regulatory agencies to detect and protect against abuse and fraud. However, many changes to the system and the collaboration of regulations by many agencies have made a difference. Health care fraud is a crime that over time has had a significant impact on public and private health care payment system (Kongstvedt, 2013). Not only does it distract the system from its objective, it also affects the financial status of the government. It takes a lot of effort to control fraud, economic effort that can otherwise be use in other struggles. Because this industry is one that grows with popularity, it is very difficult for only one organization to control or manage abuse or fraud. Popularity in this field brings great financial gains by those who choose to cheat or abuse the system. English can be seen as a Lingua Franca of the modern society that has been extensively used in the areas such as the internet, Business and also other forms of international interaction (Dearden, 2014). In the past decades or perhaps centuries, the use of Latin and Greek as a lingua francawas evident as it was used by many scholars to facilitate their works.
