There are several major thermal power plants located in Maharashtra that generate electricity through the combustion of coal and other fossil fuels. These include the Koradi Thermal Power Station near Nagpur with an installed capacity of 1040MW, the Nashik Thermal Power Station with 880MW capacity, and the largest plant is the Chandrapur Super Thermal Power Station with 2340MW of installed capacity. These plants source coal from various mines in the state and generate a significant portion of Maharashtra's electricity.
