Thermal Power Plant located in Ohio generates electricity from coal. It has a capacity of 2000 MW and supplies 1.5 million customers. The plant receives 21,000 tons of coal per day via barge, rail, and trucks. Coal is pulverized and fed into boilers heated to 1000°C to power turbines that generate electricity. Emissions are controlled through scrubbers that absorb 92% of sulfur and particulate pollutants and a SCR system that converts nitrogen oxides to pure nitrogen using ammonia. Ash and scrubber byproducts are reused in concrete, roads, and drywall.
