He received his degree from the University of Paris and studied law and philosophy. Tzevtan Todorov is a Franco-Bulgarian historian, philosopher and sociologist known for his 'Equilibrium - Disequilibrium - Equilibrium' theory of how a film's protagonist encounters change leading to a quest and resolution. He was born in Sofia, Bulgaria and has received several notable awards for his work.
